Question: How much does a reception room cost at a marriott? Posted: 01 Aug 2015 07:27 PM PDT I am planning my sweet 16 and the smallest number of attendees for a reception was 100, but I could not find a price. I just need to know an estimated price for planning. |
Question: Opinions on this as an engagement ring? Posted: 01 Aug 2015 05:05 PM PDT http://www.littmanjewelers.com/Products/Created_Opal_and_Diamond_Birthstone_Ring--1512185.aspx The opal is significant because we're both born in October and my girlfriend has mentioned to me several times that she loves opals. She's also said that she likes the idea of a nontraditional engagement ring. Also, she's said that she doesn't ever want an expensive engagement ring because she'd rather we put the money towards a nice honeymoon. We're also both trying to pay back student loans so we don't have a lot of money right now in general. What do you guys think? I appreciate the input, but I was more just wondering if the specific ring I linked would be a nice engagement ring. I know she'd like an opal and it's special to us (so don't worry, I wouldn't be swayed by some strangers on the internet!) but I just wanted to gauge how people felt about this ring in particular. We've already talked about the type of engagement ring enough that I'd like the actual specific ring to be a surprise to her! |
Question: Fiance's family wants to pay for wedding, should I let them? Posted: 01 Aug 2015 02:07 PM PDT Fiance's family is rich, and while I do make a nice amount, i just graduated college back in April! so i'm still paying off some stuff (it should be paid off by the wedding). My parents can't help financially- they're poor, and currently I am sending them a bit of money each month to help out-after all they sacrificed for 12+ years to put me in private schools Now my fiance's family (specifically his mother) wants to pay. They're very nice people. We are the same religion, so they're specification of "you better get married in the Church" isnt a problem at all (we'd be getting married in the Church anyways)! fiance's mother says she'll let me pick out whatever wedding dress i want, should I trust her? the only thing i care about is the dress. i couldnt care less about flowers, colors, or anything else just so long as it doesnt look hideous. if FMIL wants to take those over, its fine by me. correction to earlier update: i care about the dress and the size of the wedding ( i want one under 70- ideally it would be less than 50, but i can deal with 70) no Gemma, 70 people. and no, im not planning on having an expensive one @resistwedding industry lies i dont care what music is played, whatever fmil wants will be good |

Question: Can't choose between these two sets of wedding colors? Posted: 01 Aug 2015 12:28 PM PDT turquoise, peach, gold, white - have the bridesmaids wear turquoise dresses, have peach and white flowers, the groomsmen wear turquoise ties with white shirts, and grey suits or coral, navy, grey- i was thinking of having the bridesmaids wear coral dresses, coral/light pink with white flowers, the groom+groomsmen wear navy suits with grey shirts with coral ties no one has a pink based complexion, we're mexicans, and we don't have reddish hair the flowers for the coral would be mostly wight. |
Question: Is it ok to back out of being a bridesmaid 2 months before the wedding? Posted: 01 Aug 2015 10:17 AM PDT In April I was asked by my best friend's sister to be in her wedding in Oct that a bridesmaid had backed out. I told her I would as long as she didn't change the dates because I have to work 2 weekends a month & have very little vacation time plus money is tight for me. She said she understood. Last month, she lost a bridesmaid & was down to 4. Yesterday, we went to David's bridal. On the way there she was complaining about her FBIL, how he wouldn't work(she doesn't have a job & her parents raise her 3 year old) & he won't pay rent. Then she compared him to my sister who is a high functioning autistic which bothered me very badly. We get there & she picks out a $150 dress. Then she says she wants us to buy jean jackets ($30) & matching cowboy boots ($200). When her mom reminds her that we really can't afford that much, she storms off. So the mother tells us to try on cheaper dresses & see if she likes them. She comes in the back causing a scene, crying, telling us to just pick out a dress she doesn't care anymore. Her & her mom go to the bathroom & then the mom comes back crying telling us to pick a dress we're going home. They go out to the car screaming & fighting leaving us in the store. When we get to the car & load up they're still fighting, all with the 3 year old in the car. The bride starts to have a panic attack & the only way she says she can calm down is with tequila so they stop & get her some plus some cigarettes! I want out of this wedding, can I back out? They bought her 3 bottles of airplane sized tequila which she drank in the car. Another problem is now they've changed the bridal shower date when I've already asked off for the original date. Plus she says she don't know how many groomsmen they're having. No, if I get out of being a bridesmaid, I'm not going to the wedding. This is just getting to be too much. The dress($150), the jacket($30), the shoes($200). Now they want to have 2 bachelorette parties, each a different weekend, a bridal shower(which I told them ahead of time I would buy the cake topper which I'll still do) and a pantry shower. I don't have time to take off for all that. I don't want to be a horrible person, but I need out if possible. |
Question: My Fiance s best friend speaks ill of me and I don t want her at our wedding.? Posted: 01 Aug 2015 10:09 AM PDT Several of my fiances friends don t like me. My fiance s best friend in particular speaks ill of me and suggests we separate. Of course this is someone my fiance wants in our wedding party. I have made it a point to never put my fiance in the middle. I don t want to get in the way of friendships that go back to childhood. i do not however want people that don t support us at our wedding. Let alone in the wedding party. The thought of it churns my stomach. I probably should have clarified. This is a same sex union. I will not be inviting my father to the wedding due to his lack of support for our union. His issue is religious based, it was a tough decision on my part, but I don't feel someone who doesn't support us should attend. I have no doubt my tough decision plays a big part in my feelings about my fiances friend. I view it as being the same. My fiance does not because her friend has no issues with us being gay. |
Question: Friend who isn t close enough for a bridesmaid, maybe assistant? Posted: 01 Aug 2015 09:44 AM PDT I have a friend whose husband is probably going to be a groomsman but me and her aren't really close enough so I don't think she should be my bridesmaid but I do want to include her in the wedding somehow all of my bridesmaids are out of state so I do really need someone to help me with all the wedding planning. What could I do to include her and make her feel special but not a bridesmaid..? I FIGURED OUT WHAT IM DOING! I WOULD DELETE THE QUESTION BUT IT DOESNT GIVE ME THAT OPTION ANYMORE |

Question: What do you think about my bachelorette's party idea ? Posted: 01 Aug 2015 07:33 AM PDT My sister-in-law is going to get married next week and I am organising a bachelorette's party. Here Iis my idea:Her bridesmaids and me are going to dress up as a cops. Then we're going to "arrest" her and make her wear prisoner's clothes(white-black dress). Then all of us are going to the streets and she's going to sell cookies to make money for the drinks(of course, we're going to pay for them. It's just for fun). Then we're going to the bar and party. So what do you think ? Feel free to suggest something. |
Posted: 01 Aug 2015 06:57 AM PDT The ceremony itself is in a church and in a separate town. The wording on the invitation says "Adult Only Reception". So is it okay to take them to the church ceremony? Behavior is not an issue as our kids go to a catholic school and attend church multiple times a week. |

Question: Affordable wedding venues on Ft. Lauderdale FL? Posted: 01 Aug 2015 05:19 AM PDT Hi, I live in Alaska and my family is all in Broward and Miami Dade counties in Florida. We are planning to get married while on vacation in Florida next June (2016) and need venue ideas for a ceremony and reception (preferably in the same location) on a tight, tight budget (NOT on the beach). We want it to be in Broward County, so Ft. Lauderdale, Plantation, Davie, or Sunrise areas. Our tentative guest list is almost 200 people, but we haven't even sent our Save the Dates. I am looking mostly for a location where I can bring my own catering and such, as places that provide catering are too expensive. Maybe hotels with banquet rooms that allow you to bring in catering? Any help would be awesome. Thanks Affordable wedding venues in Ft. Lauderdale FL? |
