Posted: 22 Aug 2015 09:24 PM PDT My best friend is getting married and she asked me to be her maid of honor. Awesome right? But it's a traditional wedding, and in this tradition, Chinese bridesmaids give the groom a hard time on the wedding day by putting him (and sometimes his groomsmen) through a series of tests and challenges to prove that he's worthy of the bride. Then he must pay off the bridesmaids with envelopes full of money once they prove him worthy. They wanted to have their wedding in China but it just wasn't possible, so the bride and groom are having their wedding in the US, but they still are having everything in tradition. Since I'm the maid of honor, I'm in charge of these challenges. But I have no idea what to do, and to make matters worse another bridesmaid (my friend's cousin) thinks that I'm going to do a terrible job, and she should be the maid of honor since I'll do poorly and also because I'm the only one in bridal party who is not Chinese or some kind of Asian decent. Needless to say, I need these challenges to be perfect, but I have no idea where to start! If anyone has done this before or has ideas please let me know ASAP! Cheers! |

Question: As a back up bridesmaid, should i have to pay for the dress? Posted: 22 Aug 2015 06:20 PM PDT One of my good friends told me that one of the bridesmaids backed out of her wedding. She asked me about replacing this girl and told me that she originally wanted me to be a bridesmaid but couldn t afford it or something (for booking hotel room i think). She gave me plenty of time before the wedding but even as a back up bridesmaid regardless of the situation, doesn t it make sense for her to pay for the dress? It s $90 not including alterations. |

Question: How soon is too early to ask a father for his daughters hand in marriage? Posted: 22 Aug 2015 03:08 AM PDT My girlfriend and I both still live with our parents. We ve been together for over 2 and a half years and prospectively it will be around 3 when I pop the question. Her father is recently widowed and the two of us are fairly close. He s a military man and I m a paramedic so we share the paramilitary bond. We are both avid sports fans but root for butter rivals. I plan on taking him to the Bears lions game for two reasons. One for us to have some bonding time and two so that I can get him in private and ask him for his daughters hand in marriage. The problem being is that the game is in October and I want to propose around January. Is asking him then too early or is there really no time limit? |
