Posted: 29 Aug 2015 08:24 PM PDT My fiance and I are retired military. We're college educated (bachelor's degree), and we have jobs with the VA. We earn decent salaries. This is our second marriage. Our first spouses are deceased, and we don't have any kids. People are expecting us to have a very elaborate wedding. They say since we make decent money, we should have the very best for our guests. We've been through the big wedding experience before, we're not doing that for our wedding. Our wedding will be very small, and it will be quiet. Neither of us are willing to spend a fortune to make other people happy. |
Question: What do you think about serving cream sodas at a wedding instead of alcohol? Posted: 29 Aug 2015 08:19 PM PDT Hi, fiance and I don't want alcohol at the reception for a variety of reasons: - a good number of family members on both sides get drunk whenever alcohol is in front of them - its cheaper - we don't like drunk people. So, does a variety of good, quality cream sodas sound okay? We were thinking of serving: root beer, cola, cherry, plain, orange, strawberry, apricot, and kiwi What do ya'll think |

Posted: 29 Aug 2015 04:43 PM PDT My wife and I are looking to one day open a wedding venue, but right now we just want to gain some experience by volunteering, interning, anything in Dallas, TX. We have reached out to venues about volunteering but no luck (I'm guessing because we are "competition") We have stressed to venues in no way are we starting now in opening a venue, or looking to start in the state of texas (moving to the South East in 2 yrs) but no luck! Any suggestions on reaching venues to gain experience! |
Question: Why do people think it is "selfish" to have a dry wedding? Posted: 29 Aug 2015 01:29 PM PDT My fiancee and I drink (moderately), but many people going to the wedding do not. Most of my family doesn't drink, and my fiancée's parents drink maybe 5-10 drinks per year. My wife's friends do drink, but they aren't huge partiers (I've only seen one of them drunk, and only once). My friends do drink quite a bit though. I am trying to push for a dry wedding for the following reasons: - It saves a LOT of money - Due to the amount of people who will be drinking, it just doesn't make sense to spend a ton of money on alcohol. - If people are coming to the wedding solely to get drunk, they are coming for the wrong reasons. That is not why I want them to attend. - We won't need to worry about people driving drunk, barfing, or doing stupid stuff. - You shouldn't need alcohol to have fun. My wife thinks it is selfish to have a dry wedding, and is suggesting we do beer and wine only. She thinks it is not right to be stingy when planning this wedding, especially since we have family coming from afar. My counter-argument is that they aren't coming just to drink.....they are coming to share in the unity of our families. That is what a wedding is about. We are both dead against having a cash bar at the wedding. Now THAT is selfish. Now, the hotel we are having the wedding at will HAVE a bar there, but it will not be connected to the wedding, so those who absolutely cannot go without drinking will be able to imbibe if they so choose. |
Question: How do you get married without a priest involved? Posted: 29 Aug 2015 08:23 AM PDT So I'm an atheist and I don't want to marry inside a church or with a priest. I don't to go to a courthouse either, because that seems.... so.... not romantic. How can you get married without a religion? |
Question: I had this topic today,Can someone explain this to me thanks? Posted: 27 Aug 2015 05:15 PM PDT I had a conversation with someone I'm seeing and getting to know each other 2 3 months like dating but we know each other for many years because she is my sister friend and we are in our late 30s we had our talks about been lied and tired of we were cheated on in past relationships and many other things like where we got to point of thinking marriage find the one is Not for us and just find a good person or implant bank of semen for her things like that (you know what I mean) and I love kids we both don't have kids,,we're just giving ourselves a shot to get to know each other, then she had a dc. App. and sent me this textmsg. "Hey babe I went to my dc. appointment and I was having second thoughts about the birth control after our little conversation earlier. I still put in the implant , good for 3 years ". I know she was on the birth control after we decided me not using protection ,we're good and responsible people have good feelings and care for each other but not in love yet and actually this is how she's been thinking and told me sister about all paperworks bank donors, cost and what has to be done,I know there are other men better than me but she chose me, I like her 1st time I saw her but we were not single before, having a child is such a blessing I dated singles mothers and single women I know i may regret if I push her away but I'm still thinking there is a special someone for her out there (pardon me order/ unclear re-edited details) |
