Posted: 26 Aug 2015 05:03 PM PDT I have been concerned about this issue since recently when my friend decided to shut me out of his life saying how he needs to deal with his depression on his own and doesn't want me to be dragged down with him. The major part of this is the fact that he's in a whole different country than me. I've known this guy for a while now and we chat almost everyday and I can say that he's been my best friend. I'm scared that he might end up ending his life. I've tried contacting him many times but it's hard to do so since he made sure I wouldn't contact him. I'm extremely worried that this might happen, I even sent one of his cousins a message saying that I'm worried. What should I do now? If he does the deed I wouldn't know what to do. Is there anything I can do? |

Posted: 26 Aug 2015 05:02 PM PDT my friend and i are online besties, and we have been for two years or more. last year, they started thinking they were transgender, and it did come as a surprise to me, but honestly, i didnt care about it soon after then they started thinking they were a wolf, which i very much disagreed with. we parted earlier this year, because i couldnt take being friends with someone like that. it made me very uncomfortable. in the weeks we didnt talk, i saw them descend into madness. maybe they already thought this way, but, they thought they were a wolf god, and a prophet of themselves. after having them constantly message me on tumblr.com, i decided to start talking to them again. we have been talking for three months, but hot damn am i still uncomfortable even being around them. it makes me sick thinking of what might be going through their head. as far as i know, my friend is serious about it. i tell them to not talk to me about it because, well, you know. but they still think they are a divine being. my friend is 14 years old and has two loving parents and is in school and is well off. the only problems they have is mental disorders, and from what i know, are only ocd, anxiety, and clincal depression, all professional diagnosed. please, someone help me. im beginning to go crazy myself. i cant talk to them or leave them again because im scared they might go overboard. i feel like im the only one keeping them in check. can someone please help me? |

Although we met online, we skype often. I've recently found that I often get anxious about his emotional and physical wellbeing without a reason and ask if he's alright, often several times a day. I catch myself thinking about him often, even when I'm out with family. When he goes on holidays, I get unsocial and hide myself in my room, hardly eat, and barely sleep. Even though he reassures me there isn't any chance of it, I'm terrified I'm going to mess up and drive him away or get replaced. When I feel like I'm going to loose him, I have panic attacks. At first I figured it was just because we both have busy lives, but now I am starting to think she does not consider our friendship important. We often make plans together a week in advance and we will set a time and decide what to do but then that morning she will push it back an hour due to chores or something her parents are making her do. Then an hour or so before that time, she completely cancels, saying she hasn't finished her chores that she had 6 hours to do so her parents won't let her go. By that tim e, I have planned my day around this event and sometimes declined other opportunities because I committed to her. She never takes responsibility for our failed plans, and she never really apologizes. I don't want to terminate the friendship, but she just doesn't seem to care that she has inconvenienced me and screwed up my whole day. Recently, we planned on going on a two week over seas trip with a church group together to finish out our senior year, but the day before commitment deposits are due, she tells me she can't go because her parents want her to save her money for college. I have brought her food at work/randomly three or four times this summer or when she has a bad/stressful day, but she never has returned the gesture. I just feel that I am more invested in this friendship than her & i hate it |

She recently started second grade. Whenever I pick her up I would ask her how her day was, if she made any new friends, etc. She had this one friend from last year in her class, but that friend is not being a very good friend to my sister. My sister is pretty shy at first, so it's hard for her to make new friends. My sister said that friend let's call her Lisa tell her to do stuff for her and told my little sister that her breath smell like broccoli and carrot. She said her friend Lisa only hang with her other friend let's call herJesse. I don't want my sister to be sad or lonely. I want her to be happy. But whenever I ask her if she was sad because she doesn't have friends in that class she said she's not. She have this best friend, but they're not in the same class anymore, but they still see and play with each other at recess so that makes me feel a bit better. The school that we go to is kind of prestigious so most of the people are all rich and they're parents are all lawyer, doctor, etc. But my family we're poor compare to them and my parents don't speak English, we're a refugee. I feel like my little sister is embarrassed because of my family situation. She said she told her friend Lisa that our dad is an engineer when he's only a welder. Prior it would just be a "hey" or small talk. Well we were talking on the phone and he started asking me personal questions about my sex life. He started out with questions about "am I good kisser" then progressed to questions like the freakiest thing I've ever done, have I had sex before, do I do anal, oral, masturbate etc. I was hesitant to answer but I answered anyway. But Lori also invited me, a guy. We're best friends and have known each other for years, so it makes sense. The invite seemed weird because I was the only boy there among a group of girls. I got teased by my other friends (guys) who called me gay and weird for going to an all girls party. I could've refused, but Lori is my friend and would be hurt if I didn't go. But, last year we had the same problem with drugs and I remembered the smell. I quickly raced out the bathroom with conscience battling being a snitch or stay quiet. I decided to stay quiet since I didn't know who it was and I had no evidence. This was all during lunch. I went to my next class and when I was on the 2nd stairwell I overheard on the 1st stairwell one kid yell to his friend" yea man I was the one fu--ing smoking the weed in the bathroom". I go to a tiny all-girls school and there are 65 girls in my grade. Needless to say, we're all pretty close. Of course there are friend groups, but we're all friends with each other for the most part. I love my school. We wear a uniform and no one wears makeup, so no one cares about what they look like. Lots of people are feminists and politically involved. We talk about politics a lot, which I love. I don't really drink. I mean, I've tried getting drunk by myself (sad, I know. I just want to see what it's like) and I've never smoked. I know that's big in college. I'm scared of that whole culture. I'm scared to be on my own. I'm not super stressed about the college process. For the most part, I have it under control. My classes aren't that bad. I'm just nervous about it being my last year at home. I don't feel ready to grow up. Any advice? |

I spent my high school life with only Asian friends because I'm Asian and I was always the quiet one in the classroom but loud with my friends. I wasn't popular at all, I had a few friends but reliable ones. They partied and I was invited sometimes but I never drank with my friends. I've drank only with my parents and it tasted horrible. In college, I want to party and have fun and make white, black, diverse friends. But idk how i'll be invited to parties and make tons of friends if I'm commuting from home. I need to take one train (the LIRR) which is 35 minutes and then a subway which takes 16 minutes. I havne't gotten my schedule yet so I am super scared that I'll have morning classes. Also, Im scared that I will have a ton of homework or an exam the next day and get home with an 1+ hour transportation and get tired when I get home. Also, I am majoring in compsci which im super nervous for because i've never tried it before. please give me advice! |

On the last day of school (usually before home room all the students hang out in the hall) she came in with this ridiculous makeup on; she was wearing bright blue eyeshadow that needed to be severely blended and bright pink lipstick. Not to be rude, but she looked awful. I thought that I should maybe help her out so she doesn't embarrass herself, so I nicely said, "Hey, I like your makeup, but I think your eyeshadow needs to be blended." and then she said, "Are you really going to make fun of me today?" As if I EVER make fun of her, and she stormed away. That was the end of our friendship. We had already been having a lot of problems because we kept fighting and all, like most best friends. Posted: 26 Aug 2015 01:45 PM PDT My best friend of almost 3 years is currently living in Australia (and has been for almost 2 years) and I think she's upset with me...but I'm not sure. We've had a great long distance friendship. There was a time last year where we got into a fight and didn't contact each other for 2 months, but other than that, everything has been good. We usually text each other every night or so and just talk for a while. A few days ago, however, I texted her "hi" (like one of us always does at the start of a conversation) and I could tell that something was wrong, because after every text I sent I just got a replies like these: "Ok" "Yup" "Mhm" "Okay" "Sure." At first I didn't think much of it, because I thought that maybe she was just in a bad mood or didn't really feel like chatting. But it's been like this for about a week now, and it's gotten worse. She posted something on Facebook about a friend being "really hard to just chat with nowadays" and I know it's about me. I don't know what to do. Last night she went on a class trip somewhere for like a week and I don't know if I should text her or not while she's there, because she's probably busy. I know I sound clingy and annoying, but we've never had a problem like this before. I want to just ask what's wrong but there might not be a problem at all and I might just be paranoid. I don't want to make things awkward by asking. I just don't want to lose her. I lost her once already & it was a really sad time in my life. What should I do? |

| Question: I have nobody to sit with at lunch? Posted: 26 Aug 2015 01:16 PM PDT Ok so it's the fourth day of school soon and my school has A and B lunch. Last year all of my best friends had B lunch and I had A lunch. It wasn't to bad last year because some of my friends who kind of knew had A lunch so I sat with them. This year though there is nobody that I know in B lunch and all my friends have A lunch. My one friend who has B linch with me and I hang out with the same group of people and there's nobody to sit with! |

I text my friends so don't call me antisocial and i walk about two miles on the treadmill. But here is a typical snapshot of my day. 3 to 4 hours gaming 1 hour on the treadmill 4 to 5 hours watching youtube/netflix Also i have applied for multiple jobs but am not getting any calls back. |

My instructor completely disappeared and I stopped talking to all my friends that were there. Now I'd like to reconnect with them. There's just one problem; I don't know how to find them. I never got their phone number(s), and never connected with them online, I only ever saw them there. I know their first names and not their last. My first thought was to try and connect with my instructor to see if he remembers, but he gets on facebook once a year, and I'm not sure if he'd even reply to me. I searched their names on facebook but didn't find much anything, and if I did they're faces weren't shown in pictures to prove it's them. Anyway I could find them? Thanks so much. |

Posted: 26 Aug 2015 12:27 PM PDT So this girl that used to be my friend, she lost a significant amount of weight last summer and came back a whole different person. She really inspired me, who at the time was 200 pounds, to lose weight. So early December of 2014 my journey began. No more fast food, soda or junk. I ate lean cuisines for dinner every night and used MyFitnessPal to track what I was eating. It is now August of 2015 and I am 134-138 pounds and it's been in between for about a month. I was eating and am still to this day eating around 1500 calories a day. I was surprised to hear a few days ago that this girl I used to be friends with but have never talked badly about was ranting that I was sick looking and throwing up every time I ate lunch at school which makes no sense. A few other girls who I barely know were supporting it as well. I called my ex - friend and asked her why she would start that rumor about me, and got pretty emotional and she said she is a very jealous person and she didn't understand why I lost weight and kept it off and she gained all her weight back even though she exercises 30 minutes a day. I have 3 classes with her and I just don't want to be around her ! What should I do. I'm so scared to use the bathroom in school and I feel like I have to eat constantly in school to prove I'm not bulimic. I hate throwing up and I love food and I've lost weight in a healthy way! Why can't people be happy for me? |

Posted: 26 Aug 2015 12:14 PM PDT I tell him I can't hang around for long one day this coming weekend as i have been invited to an event and he gets into a pretty obvious strop about it but doesn't say anything and even left early which is unusual for me because he tries to ghost me any time he gets, he also doesn't like to do things that I want to do and when I ask him what he wants to do he says "I don't know" and I secretly think he prefers to do nothing in spite of me, he always talks to me about football, one day I told him "please don',t talk about football I am not in the mood" he said "OK" and he broke in after 5 minutes and talked about it for 20 minutes intermittently while I made several attempts to change the subject. |

I noticed some changes in the habits of one of my closest friends, and one day, she came to school with scars on her arm. I later chatted with her and asked if she had any problems and she answered that her mum won't stop annoying her, but not like the little things like dooing the washing but some big time things: she went home after school and her mum just shut her out of her own house. This is one time in my life when I wish I was more of an a$$hole, because this guy became the clingiest and most annoying motherf*cker you could ever imagine, and I just kept being nice. I just don't get how someone can be so oblivious to how annoying he is. Anyway, last I saw him was in 2006. Nine years of peace and quiet. But, then a few weeks ago, he found me on FB and I started talking to him again. NOTHING HAS ChANGeD IN 16 YEARS!!! He texts me at all hours, whenever he gets a break at work the first thing his does is pick up the phone to message me on FB. It's always the same stupid sh!t, nothing important or interesting, just pointless babble. I feel just like I did in high school, wanting him to go away, but not having it in me to tell him he's annoying me. What do I do? Just block him? | Question: I can't make any friends in college? Posted: 26 Aug 2015 10:07 AM PDT I'm a pretty average/normal guy in a good-sized program for my university. I have been here a couple years and have not made one friend. I'm pretty shy so I don't continue on a simple conversations other than just saying "Hey/How are you doing" or answering a question about the class/coursework best I can. I have considered going to some events for the school or whatever, but I don't have anyone to go with so I would just be there by myself, and being that no one ever really approaches me or hangs around and I wouldn't try to insert myself into a group (It seems like everyone knows everyone and there's already groups or pairs of friends). So I can't really see it going anywhere. I go to the gym a lot, by myself, and sometimes see regulars there but all I can do is just making simple greetings. Now my new apartment has a gym and it hardly has anyone there. I don't think I'm depressed, I don't know, but I haven't had anyone to talk to in a couple years and I'm tired of always being alone. I think just adds on to my anxiety and will probably affect my schoolwork this year too. Thanks for reading/answers |

I came to discover she lied to me about her career, her family life and a lot of things. I made the decision to end the friendship immediately when I discovered all the lies she told me. I severed contact and was angry with her and myself for wasting time on a liar. That was over 2 years ago. Lately, now that I'm in a calmer place in life I've considered getting back into contact and seeing how she's doing. I'm not sure that's a good idea. I forgive her for the lies she told more so I can move on. I know I would never trust her again but I am concerned for her and am curious if she is doing well. I don't foresee us being friends again Should I contact her or just leave her be? |
