When I got out of high school, I had a hard time finding a job. I finally found a job with good pay and a GREAT boss. One day in his office I saw his high school graduation picture on his wall. I told him that my mom went to the same high school. He asked me her name in school. When I told him, he said "I knew your mom in high school. I can see were you get your good looks. She was the most beautiful girl in the school." WOW was that nice to hear. He asked if I had a picture or my mom now. I said no. He said "I would like to see her again to catch up on old times. Why don't you let me take the two of you to lunch some time. I said "great I would arrange it". It sounded like that would be fun. When I told my mom about this she said she did not want to see anyone she went to high school with. When I ask her why she told me she had gained 10 pounds since she was in high school and didn't feel like she looked good. I told her 10 more pounds in 20 years and after 3 kids did not change her great looks. She still looked great. How can I convince her she is still beautiful and should join us for lunch? Would taking her to get her hair and nails done and helping her buy a new dress make her change her mind? It is always good for your job to make your boss happy don't you think? I debated on adding my ex-gf online in IG. I didn't in the end but i still checked her cool profile. She knew somehow i had looked and she requested me to be her friend. I ignored her friend request it's still on pending... I then got new message from her and it said "Hi is this who i think it is". I replied and we talked but when i asked her out to get a drink near my house she said "NA I GOT MY OWN PLACE NOW". We both lived under our parents roof 3 years ago when we dated but today she lives alone. Every time i sent her a message she would reply within seconds. I ended up saying bye because it got awkward. She instead of saying bye changed the subject. I didn't reply anymore.... Could she still have something for me? my friends are saying she didn't turn me down when she said she had her own place but i think she deff turned me down you tell me.

Okay so I'd be happy to lend my friends and family money when they need it but pay me back, but for unimportant things I won't. Okay so this week so far, I went to visit my family in Georgia and had a great time. My cousin has been asking me for money or pay her way because she is broke. She works and doesn't get paid well. I did what I can to help her which I didn't mind but enough is enough and it's overwhelming for me. I understand she works more than one job to pay the bills. It's hard I know. I'm just tired of it. We're going out ti the mall and movies and now I have to pay for all of them. Damn it. Honestly I'm glad I'm going home tomorrow. It's just going to be the four of us. I feel so stupid! We are Asian and they have the mentality that after graduating from college, we can relax and probably goof off especially working in our family business and doing whatever we want there. Problem is, being in there and having my family's mentality limits my will to explore career opportunities, social life (my parents want to make live a sheltered life as they are too strict towards me), and everything else that could make me learn and have fun that is beyond my family's standards. Last time, when I realy wanted to go out of this business, they blackmailed me for saying that I have no gratitude and as if I owe them after graduating from college (college here is paid by family of students on the spot before starting any semester instead of the govt or undergoing student load). It frustrates me because I cannot settle for aything less and that it only wasted my learnings and experiences from college. Also having to experience pressure from college friends as to why I would undergo this way as some of them look down on what I'm currently doing. I wanna follow my own ideals to enhance myself after the stage where in I took my college studies and I don't want to be someone they could only rely on where in the end I would exhause myself and feel enslaved by them from then on. But what's stopping me is my relationship with them where in there is a chance they might view me as a disgraced, disrespectful child of them and be at the center of their gossips with other family members and relatives. I really hate their dichotomous thinking that if I don't follow this, then I am like thar to them or whatever.

Im 20 years old and male. My mother has been disabled for 20 plus years and my dad is her caregiver. I dont oive a normal life as i live at home and take csre of her aswell, giving my dad a break every other month. I have been given the opportunity to go to Europe with my grandparents, but I feel terribly guilty because they can't go. I know it's a lifetime chance to ever go again but I think I'll just stay home and not go. I feel so guilty for going. What should I do? Thanks so much for your advice.

My father gives me a little more than enough money every month so I can get by. Recently he said that if I don't start respecting him he's going to stop giving me money and I'll be forced to get a job. I'm only 18 and I think it's too early for me to have a job. My father has ties to my bank account which means he can see everything i've purchased and this makes me angry. Whenever he calls and asks why i've purchased the things I did it makes me curse him out because that's my business.

I moved from Seattle to Portland to be with family and everything is not what I expected it to be. They invited me down and fed me alot of BS and I believed them and up and left my job and roof that was over my head. I was very stable and was generating a steady income. I'm a very decent individual I don't rub people the wrong way I'm not on any drugs but I do smoke my marijuana. I take good care of my hygiene. But my sister treats me as is I'm just beneath her. Yeah I'm not anywhere in life like she is but still I'm a hard working young man and it seem like my family don't respect that about me. My mom let her treat me any old way. The same thing happened a year ago when I went to see them when they were overseas they did the same exact thing they are doing now. What should I do about this situation? I was mislead and now I'm back to square one in life. I only have 2 nights left and my sister want me out of her house. It's sad tho because when they came to see me in Seattle they were telling me how good I was looking and that they can tell I been working alot you know buttering me up and they invited me to come with them to Oregon and I told them give me about a month and I came and things are just all wrong here. He has extreme anger issues I was thinking about getting a restraining order because he says that when the baby is born he is going to kidnap the child away from me and take it to another country, and that he's going to get all his family who lives out of country to help him get custody. he sent me a bunch of harassing texts calling me selfish and a b*tch when I told him to leave me alone and that we were over. My step father passed away just yesterday. He'd been living with me and my mom for almost 20 years (they're not married). Now, not only did his family already decide where his funerals would happen and where he'd be buried (without asking my mom or telling her or consulting her in any way), they're saying they want to prevent us from attending his funerals. Can they really do that? I know my mom technically doesn't have a lot of rights since she wasn't married to him. But this still feels so wrong and so disgusting in so many ways... They chose to bury him in some town he used to live in before knowing my mom, far away from where he's lived with us for so many years. And he actually hated his family and barely spoke to them unless he absolutely had to. He'd probably go insane if he knew what was happening.

My mom is always doing mean, sneaky stuff like this and makes me not trust her. I know this is not a big deal but geez don't pretend to like it and then set me up to look stupid in front of other family members. Anyone else have experience like this? Let me introduce myself. I am 13 years old dude from Denmark, and I have some pretty okay normal parents and a brother. They aren't divorced, they aren't or haven't been abusive or anything violent against me and they don't hit me and they've never done that. But I am just sick and tired of them. I do have a bit of high functioning autism, but it isn't very effective. My dad does have some anger issues sometimes, nothing very serious but just him getting a little bit irritable over absolutely nothing. When all of us are in bed in the evening attempting to sleep, my brothers is always sitting and playing games and yelling in his room. It is probably the most annoying type of stupidity he has, even the neighbors can hear him. (We live in a house). My mom doesn't have any type of anger issues, but she always sings ALL the time in the house (in a stupid foolish way.) Also she speaks very loud. I don't know if she has some kind of reason, probably because she's happy. But it pisses me the **** off that she sings to be honest. Now I know of course that I can't really prevent that much, but I just don't feel like we have anything in common. I honestly just wanna live alone. I have 3 father "figures" in my life . I have a stepfather and man I call my daddy that have both raised me since I was a baby together.. now my blood father I've only seen him about 4 times I can recall in my life . I met him through tutoring center in university (We met each other in June 2015) and he has his own tutoring business and he decided to take me into his tutoring business for tutoring session. I have money from the government so my mom is my tutee which she manages my money. So, every time when I overpaid Tommy, he never give me my change back. I asked him about it but he denies it and say I owe him. My mother told him to make receipts but he never made one because he said that my mother hasn't asked for receipts 3 years ago(Tommy been tutoring me for 3 years). She asked for receipts because she did not trust him. When I had minor issues in my family, and Tommy was like my friend so I told him everything what was going on so he begin to say negative things about my family like saying that my aunt and my mother are manipulating me, mental abusing me. They never were. Also, he sounded like if my family wanted me to fail in the classes. He said that he was the only tutor who can help me. Also, I owed him 645 dollars but I didn't not had any money so I told him that I cant pay him and he said that if I have a savings, and I told him yes but that money for emergency and he said that then treat $645 like an emergency. Also, he told me to looks at the signs and the laws tto see that my family were mistreating me and lying to me. I had a relationship with him so I sent him my nude pictures and he threat me with my pictures. Like if I report on him for abusing then he will show pics to the dean and other people. So my mom constantly loses her jobs. She's not a bad worker (or I think she's not) she just chooses jobs were either it's on contract or the boss doesn't like her? Anywho, she always asks me for my money but never asks my brother (who is 18 and started working) as to where I am 21, in college, and am home for the summer. My point is she NEVER asks him for money, like she's afraid to ask or maybe she doesn't want to but he literally brags about how much he makes. So where I live, when you just get your drivers license you can only drive your siblings for the for the first 6 months. Well... yesterday I drove my brother, my cousin, and 2 friends of mine and I haven't had my license for 6 months yet:( I know, it's bad. So my mom found out because a parent saw them getting into my car and told my mom. I'm in marching band and so I was trying to be nice and giving them a 5 minute ride so they wouldn't have to walk from the school to the park that we practice at. But now my parents are really diappointed with me and they are really mad because this is one of the worst things Ive ever done. I live with my dad, he has full custody, but last year was the first time I visited my mom who lives on the other side of the country. I just got back from visiting her again. My dad only let me go for a week each time. My mom invited me to go visit her again for Christmas. I have two weeks off from school for Christmas, and I asked me dad if I can spend both of them with her, but then he said that he'll see how I behave these next couple months, and then he'll decide. I don't think that's fair, and I told him, I told him that I shouldn't have to earn a visit to my mom, but then he just said that that behavior was exactly the kind that's going to not let me see her. It's not fair! I shouldn't have to be on my best behavior in hopes that it's good enough for my dad to let me see my mom! Shouldn't seeing my mom just be my right?

Before I start, I just want to say that I "love" my sister meaning that I care about her. Now here s the thing: I don t like her, I hate her. I don t want to spend time with her and I don t want her near me. I hate her because she is extremely rude to my brother and I, she is rude to my mom and has even hit her, she annoys my dog and hurts her, when I correct her (she doesn t talk well, she says non-existent words and pronounces others wrong and messes up sentance order, I don t really know why but my parents don t care...?), she gets mad at me and yells and cries and then I get in trouble, she constantly leaves her stuff in my room even after my mom and I have told her multiple times to stop. She watches loud anime during dinner and has spilled various drinks on her iPad. She holds dinner utensils wrong and doesn t use her napkin, she uses her hands and clothes, and its really gross to see her eat but my mom tells me to ignore her and doesn t educate her. She doesn t do anything but watch TV and play videogames but has a constant mess of toys in her room and when my mom says she s going to throw them out, she cries and screams so my mom leaves them even though they re never played with. Sidenote: I don t want to hate her but I don t want to turn into a snob and brat to get along with her. Another sidenote: she s definitely my mom s favorite.

My dad is really strict and has a stupid rule that I'm not allowed to date until I'm 16. I'll be 16 in November, but a boy asked me out, as it's summer and we don't have to worry about school. I explained this to my dad, but he still kept saying no, since I'm not 16 yet. Then, I said that I was just going to hang out with a friend. Then, my dad wanted to meet my friend, and when he found out it was the boy, he said no, we couldn't hang out, that he would consider that a date, and he told the boy that I'm not allowed to date until I'm sixteen. And I kept trying to remind him that I'm turning 16 in November, and then my dad was like, then that makes you 15 and not allowed to date, completely missing the point I was trying to make. After the boy left, my dad actually had the nerve to say that he didn't want to embarrass me (which he totally did!!) and that was why he waited until the boy left to tell me I'm grounded. It's so unfair! I can't believe my dad! Was he wrong? Shouldn't I be allowed to date since I'm turning 16 soon?! Please don't tell me to talk to my mom, either, as she's not around.

My sister's 30th birthday is in December. We had planned to go to Cabo for her birthday, but, for different reasons, we couldn't do it on a weekend close to her birthday, and our only option was the weekend of Labor Day. We are both looking forward to this trip, but... I was thinking that it will be closer to my birthday than hers... she said that we can "celebrate both birthdays", but my number is not an important one like hers, I mean, she's hitting 30! My brother started having kids at 18 he now has 3 kids with the same woman and they are in their 30s. My mom disowned them because at first, she would buy the baby stuff and basically help them out. But she never got nothing in return. In fact, my brother has always done drugs and sold them. But as the years went by, he obviously hadn't changed and moved on from just selling /using Marijuana. He never went to school and always has lived off his girlfriends parents who compared to my family, are more Laid back, but also engage in drug use with them and they all live together. Do you think my Mom was right in disowning my brother for his lifestyle choices?. He's never given my parents nothing back like money or gifts or any contribution to society besides having kids and living off other folks. They live on welfare, foodstamps, etc. Some friends have judged my mom because your supposed to love your son no matter what according to them. I don't believe in that neither. In fact, I'm glad my brother is not around because he just gives me uneasy feeling like he wants to take advantage of us. I don't know where he learned this bad habit from. We were raised good and my other brother is currrently a nurse and so am I. He also likes to blame my parents saying they are too uptight, and that's why he left at 16. So I'm sort of a black sheep in my family. My family is super religious and for some reason they are getting even more religious. (Christianity). Also I got so much respect and stuff when I was in high school. When I didn't go to college , they all turned their nose up at me and have never treated me the same since I graduated. I have a full time time making over 45,000 year so I'm doing pretty good. I'm just wondering why I see some families that's so uncodinional with their family members. It's just so overwhelming. I'm 21 and she's 24. We haven't spoken to each other in a year because we do not get along whatsoever. We've tried fixing our relationship but it always failed. But now, I don't want anything to do with her. We're both adults and still living at home. Every day, she bangs with her fists on her door just to harass me. She screams through the door and acts very immature. It's been terrible. I don't speak to her because she is very immature and unreasonable. She refuses to move out and pay rent as well. My main question is: Can I call the cops on her so she can leave me be? I have recordings of her doing what was previously mentioned. Or does anyone have a better solution? I am quite old now, a high schooler so its understandable that my asian parents argue, but its never been like this. Sure they fight, but it is NEVER about this topic. Recently, my mom watched this Chinese drama where a woman finds out her rich husband wants to divorce and loves another, but she has been do dependent on him that she has to survive on her own after (job and taking care of kids). After this, my mom suspected my Dad of about to cheat/cheating. My mom always blows things out of proportion. My dad will never look at another woman. My mom thinks otherwise. At his workplace, he recently added a chinese woman to his subordinates (and for some reason chinese women are more dangerous than any other women). My Dad tells her everything, and naturally she knew, but then my mom learned that the woman has two kids, and her husband is in china AWAY. Of course knowing her, she automatically assumes that the women is out for her husband (my dad) and my dad maybe too. This is ridiculous and my mom brings it up so often. My dad promises her that he has never done so. He never gets angry, but at this he got angry that she accused him of something he didn't even do. But the argument comes down to her pride, she gave up her job to take care of her kids, and has been a housewife for 15 or more years. She feels disrespected and unloved by her family. My dad is looking for a new job currently, so he is stressed, but my mom still feels like my dad is untrustworthy. It breaks my heart. BTW, my parents are around 50 years old. Please help

I'm not gonna go into too much detail here but my childhood consisted of my parents arguing 24/7, my dad stalking me and my mom, my dad having a drug problem, my dad blaming me and accusing me of the most absurd things because he was on drugs, my mom constantly bitching and moaning about him to me and taking out her anger about him on me, my mom blaming me for her problems at work, being physically beaten several times by my dad for no reason and much more! Anyway I'm not trying to get anyone to feel bad for me or expect that I am "entitled" to anything. I just wanna know how I can get over this, I feel like my childhood was stolen from me. This makes me very depressed. I'm 16, junior in high school, I work and I want to make something of my life, I want to earn it, I don't want anything handed to me. But I know I won't be able to move on until I get over this. Btw the physical abuse and **** with my still happens today but I've kinda just stopped caring and learned to take it

Ugh people why don't you understand I love my cousin as in I'm in love , okay you might see it as bad or taboo but there's nothing against it in the Bible or anything. we used to have an extremely close relationship, we were always so real with eachother. we started falling out abit, until about 5 years ago when he fell into a deep depresion. when he came out of it, he began to treat me like a child again, but like, somebody elses child, that he had just met. we still live in the same house and yet we only talk about twice a month, and everytime we do hes so insufrably nice to me i just want to slap him. is it normal to hate a sibling for them being always nice to you? and are there any ways to rebuild our relationship?

So where I live, when you just get your drivers license you can only drive your siblings for the for the first 6 months. Well... yesterday I drove my brother, my cousin, and 2 friends of mine and I haven't had my license for 6 months yet:( I know, it's bad. So my mom found out because a parent saw them getting into my car and told my mom. I'm in marching band and so I was trying to be nice and giving them a 5 minute ride so they wouldn't have to walk from the school to the park that we practice at. But now my parents are really diappointed with me and they are really mad because this is one of the worst things Ive ever done. BUT NOW my aunt and uncle are also realllyyyy mad at me for driving my cousin. My parents haven't given me my punishment yet but I feel so awful and I cried for over an hour yesterday because I felt so sick to my stomach. i don't rally show it and it usually ends up with me having a bad attitute and rudeness.i am quite over feeling i won"t quite call it sensitive rather it is stress caused by family drama. i live in a joint family sysstem. so u never miss on drama but its tearing me apart i can't sit at the table to eat because i am afraid of my uncle and her wife.no one understands and make fun of me. i did'nt realise i had such a trauma untill recently i figured why i can"t eat at the table.due to family problems my social life at school has been greatly affected. me and my twin sisters were always the centre of attention,i had many friends but it all changed. i am in 12th grade now and i want to change myself but i don't know how.please help me.

My mom and I have never really gotten along. Her and I are always fighting. It's been this way ever since I was a little girl, honestly. I'm now 20 and living with my boyfriend of 2 years. My relationship with my dad, has always been good. He loves me very much and he would spoil me. My mom has never liked the love and attention my dad would give me. Everytime he let me do something or bought me something nice, she would get very angry at him and I. I remember one time I took 4 quarter out of a jar full of coins my dad had in his room. My mom saw and she told him that she was gonna tell him, but I didn't care because I knew my dad wouldn't get mad over 4 little quarters. When my dad got home, she emptied almost the entire jar, hid the rest of the quarters, and told my dad that I took them all!!!!! She only did that so he'd get me in trouble!!! She gets really mad when people tell me that I'm pretty. I'm a really good cook and people always compliment my food at family gatherings. It bothers her very much when my dad and brother tell me that my food is very good. Sometimes she tells me that I'm not pretty and that I don't know how to do anything, just to try to make me feel like ****. The thing that I hate the most is that she always tells me that my boyfriend doesn't like me and that the only reason his parents like me is because they know her. (I'm 15) My brother and I were pretty mean to each other and I regret. He was taken away from my family for 3 weeks and I cried and when he called I could talk to him bc I just burst into tears. My older sister did her best to fight the case to get him out.. it worked. He didn't say thank you or anything to my sister!! After one day of him being back home he left for 2 days to bring his girlfriend and I'm guessing she's living here? It's been almost 2 months She has two kids but left them at her moms. I need help. My nephew is 14 and his parents recently, on the advice of their pastor, searched thru all of his personal belongings. They found out that he has been feeling for a while that he is gay and they totally flipped. They told him he's going to hell. Told him that he is a bad influence on his siblings. The mom told me that they are looking into sending him to some religious reform. I don't know what to do. I am so scared for him. He is a great kid, really. After I started high school my parents hates me and blames me for everything. My parents wouldn't let me go out by myself and says that my friends are the worst and my attitude is from them. Everytime I go out with my friends they all ways follow me and my mom doesn't even go to work or even bother for college, simply wasting her time following me around. My dad on the other hand, asks me if I know how to solve this problem or not. And if I gave him a no, he would throw stuff at me and say I can't solve the simplest things. Most of the time when I do go out, I try to make some spare cash and do some volunteering but most of the time my mom follows me there because she thinks I would be a slut and go out with all the guys I work with. This summer I made $300 by working and my mom took my money saying she would keep it safe. When I finally said I want to save my money and deposit it in the bank, she already spend my cash on make up and other useless junk (in my opinion). I had enough at that point so I brought up that how lazy she was and how it was my fault that she can't get a job and so on. I don't know how to solve this problem and I want to move out of the house as soon as possible but that is going to take at least 3 years. How can I change my parents prospective of me?
