A few months ago, my ex starting liking my pics on facebook. Then be coincidence he ran into my mother at a party. Once she talked to me I sent him a message through fb asking how he was doing and we starting back talking. We had a rocky and dramatic relationship for 9 years. He decided to move back to chicago and I didn't want to go back. So I stayed in Texas. He wanted to be there for his son. We tried long distance for 6 months and it didn't work. So I told him I didn't want it anymore. We hadn't spoken in almost 2 years. I told him I was coming to visit family and he said he really wanted to see me that I was the love his life and he missed me so much. I made sure that I took my 11 year old son with me each time that we went out so that things didn't move too fast. He offered for us to stay at his house but I chose to stay with family. I did have a great time and we had great conversation. Now that I'm back home he calls and text everyday and I plan to go back to visit in two months. He cheated me alot and lied alot when were together and I really do miss him. Can we make this work again although, he's in Chicago and I don't plan on moving back there?

I love my mom. I really do. It's just that she.. she gets mad at anything. And she grounds me for it. It's like she has anger issues. For example, today she was talking to me on the phone and I couldn't hear her too well. I think she was telling me to walk to somewhere, so she could pick me up for school. So I kept asking her "pardon?" or "I couldn't hear you." until she finally said, "okay, just stay there. I'll come for you." When I got into the car I started telling her how amazing today was, and she didn't respond me. I kept asking, "Mom?" until she finally started yelling at me saying that I didn't have any consideration for her, or something. Things like these happen a lot. She also took away my phone. I don't really understand why she's mad at me. What should I do? This happens a lot. Stupid things like these. She gets mad over anything and shouts at me and ruins my day. Should I tell someone this is happening?

She has every right in the world to hate him but I end up hurting when I have to miss out on having a Dad. He loves me but says he is done fighting with her. I miss out on family events like a reunion this past June his whole family had with 125 people and I was one of only 3 people not there. They all go to Al Anon and say it is one of the many skills they learned. He is a bad alcoholic. It has no effect on me as a nephew but they are his kids and see him from time to time (I only do once or twice a year).

Ever since I had a stroke and have lived at home my Mother has been unbearable. 1) She has told me I'm incapable of being independent. 2) She is overbearing. 3) She gets angry at my attempts to get better and move out. So ever since I was little I felt something was going on between my mom and another dad in the neighborhood. We are really close with the family and my parents and the other parents are very close, so maybe I am just overreacting about the whole situation. My mom and this neighbor would have long talks on our porch drinking wine and talking til midnight and whenever their spouses were out of town he would always come over for dinner, and some of their texts were a little flirtatious/innapropriate. It's not that i feel this way because I'm a teenager it's because I have seen it. When he list off his kids he names everyone but me. He never wants to spend time with me. He calls me a pansy. He yells at me just for fun and my mom has to step in all the time. During my football season he put me on his "diet" even though I'm one of the skinniest kids in my grade. It s really extreme like the kid is 6 1 and 160 pounds he s not small. I m 22 and weigh 190 at 6 2. Anyway so if I curse at him anyway in front of her I immediately get thrown out of the house immediately for an hour. Today I pushed him and she s signing me up for a psychiatrist and threatening me with jail. I don t understand why does she treat him like a small innocent child when he s not. The grandparents of my son call me/text me daily. I've moved on in life and have asked them to contact my family for any questions, visits etc. They won't listen to what I have asked of them. Now they said they are going to get an attorney for visits. We have never denied visits but they want everything on their terms and times. So, my brother only lives about 5 minutes away and through life, we've always been great friends. However this last girlfriend he had has made him a mess. She doesn't have ANY custody over her own children yet he's trying to have babies with her, making wildly expensive impulse purchases and letting my mother pay his bills instead. Now he's buying a house with this girl. They've only been together 5 months, and come to find out he decided to marry her yesterday and blocked me and my mother out but was sure to tell all his little friends about it, which is how we found out. One saw us out and was like, "So, Chad got married, huh?" And we were just like... "what..". Real awkward situation. He has my mom paying his bills, calls my husband and I up every single time he needs something, but can't call to tell us this? What gives?! And he asked if he had a house warming party would my husband and I bring him some stuff he and his then girlfriend wanted.. why should I continue to waste my time and help him if he can't even tell me he's getting married. And for the record, I NEVER showed discontent for his girlfriend around either of them, so it can't have anything to do with that. Yesterday evening when I came home I noticed 1/4 of the money I received as a gift from my grandma and some of my cousin s money were missing. I asked everyone but they said they didn t take them. I am absolutely sure I didn t spend or lose them. The thing is, there are only 2 persons that could have taken them: the first is my cousin, because she was the only one that knew where I put my money, but I doubt she took them, because I have lived with her for more than 5 years and she s just not that kind of person. The second person is mom s boyfriend, because he was alone at home all day, and my cousin was sure her money were at their place in the morning. I don t want to blame him but he has lied to me before, and when I called him last night to ask about it he started yelling at me. Today my cousin went back home and I had to give her some of my own money, and when mom s boyfriend came home from work he refused to eat and when I asked if he was mad he just said "no" and went to his room. Mom will be home soon and I intend to talk to her about this, but I m afraid I ll only make things worse. I feel horrible because of what happened. Any advice on how I should handle this?

I know the answer sounds obvious, but hear me out. I'm a 17 year old girl. Two years ago, my mom married a man with three sons. His youngest son is a year and a half older than me. He's 19 and in college but still living at home. In case it isn't obvious, I live with my mom, her husband, and my youngest stepbrother. I'll call my stepbrother L. The first time I ever met L, I was 14 and he was 15, so it's not like we've known each other all throughout our childhoods or anything. Like I said, we've only been "siblings" for two years. This sounds so cliche, but L is gorgeous – like seriously the kind of gorgeous that anybody would be able to recognize. I've been attracted to him from day one and he's been attracted to me from day one (that's not just an assumption...he recently told me). We've basically been best friends since we met and we've always had a very strong bond, but nothing sexual or romantic happened between us for the first three years that we knew each other. A couple of months ago, though, everything changed. One night, our parents left, and due to a bunch of built up sexual tension, we ended up kissing for the first time AND having sex for the first time. Things escalated very VERY fast that night. What's going on between us isn't just a fling – it's the real deal. I couldn't be happier. BUT...if my mom and L's dad found out, they'd freak out. I'll be 18 pretty soon, and L and I are both planning to move out of our parent's house in the next year or so, but still. I feel like coming out with our relationship would literally destroy my relationship with my mom and L's relationship with his dad....even if we're not living under their roof. And what would people think if they found out? I know I'm thinking way far ahead....but what if we got married? Then our parents would be married and so would we. People would shun us if they knew. I know L and I could move away and not tell anyone we're step siblings and it'd be fine, but what about our parents? Will we have to "coincidentally" move away to the same place, keep our relationship a secret from our parents for the rest of their lives, never be able to post about our relationship, have to never allow our parents to come to our house cause we'd be living together, etc.? What if we had kids?! We couldn't hide that from our parents unless we disowned them and changed our names or something. Our parents would inevitably find out about our relationship somehow sooner or later...even if we moved away and tried to hide it. I don't know what to do.

Might her lies be to avoid the shame of being attacked over the smallest of things like her parents (mainly her mother) did to her as a kid? Her father was strict but loving whereas her mother only loved if the child reciprocated and therefor resented the hell out of this daughter who did not always reciprocate. As a result small errors would be treated as huge unforgivable mistakes. So might my cousins lies be more to avoid the wrath of people over little mistakes then lies out of a mean spirit or scandal? The lies are things like saying she works out when she doesn't or not sharing with the family that she'd lost a job and instead saying "I'll be at work tomorrow" when she wasn't. Also saying she is sick when she doesn't feel like seeing us. I don;t know of any huge lies where people get hurt other then distorting the truth in gossip possibly like many women do and even some men.

If your the parent, then it should be all up to you. Just like if you're a dog owner, you can decide what you want to do to it. As parents, we have legal authority over the child. So why do governments in most countries (besides 3rd world ones) care if you abuse your offspring?

My daughter fell in love with a non muslim who cannot convert due to his parents. My husband and I have taught her that she has to get married to a muslim (does not matter what race or ethnicity, just has to be muslim). We have done our best to raise her a Muslim and guide her towards the right path. I think there is a high chance she will marry this man without our permission, can we islamically disown her? Is it haram to disown a child and not speak to them forever? I am afraid my husband and I will be punished for her actions. I got pregnant at 26 with my boyfriend but he kept telling me to get an abortion. His mom was ecstatic and told me I can move in but I hesitated because I didn't like the lifestyle they lived. So I'm currently 21 with a part-time job ($920 a month) and going to school. As of right now my check goes to help pay the car insurance with my mom and help a bit with the groceries. I've been feeling ashamed of this for a while and decided to plan moving out. I've been applying to get a full time job while I do some online course to look for a better payment job somewhere down the line. I'm willing to slow down college while I carry out this plan. Rent for 1 to 2 room apartments in my city goes from $750 to $1,600 a month. However, if I do move out finishing college would be crazy hard but on the other hand I don't wanna hit the mark of 24 years old and still in the nest.

Ok , I live with my Dad and my sister and my nephew. My sister who is 26 and I'm 23. From time to time my sister is just gone for days at a time, or even a week. Which she is grown she can do what she wants. But she doesn't let me or my dad know where she goes for days at a time. I have to call her to see where she is at . I honestly don't care what she is doing , I just want to know where she is when she will be back. This last time I was left babysitting my nephew and his Dad suppose to pick him up in the morning. I m 21 years old and since I was born my dad has done little to nothing for me. I ve lived with my grandparents and they have made sure I always had clothes and food. Now, I just got a new job and he is asking that I get a letter from them stating I work there and how much I make so he can get food stamps for "us" I am with him maybe once a week, the rest of my time is spent with my fiancé and grandma. He rarely gets me food, and still claims me on his income taxes but doesn t do anything for me. The money he does get from working he spends on himself, food, beer, cigarettes, and drugs. Should I just cut all ties from him?

My step dad and sisters doesnt help around the house like my mother. I the son do help out. Recently mother and I bought a tv for the living room. Dad at first didnt like the idea of it. Finally he was ok with it. Now that we got the tv he higs it all to himself and doesnt care to over take it. My mom regreats buying the tv. Why does dad act like an asshole?

The daughter is not bad or anything but she did have an attitude as a teen sometimes and was not a good student. As a result her mother wants little to do with her. She has one other child and that child is amazing, kind, good spirited, etc... and so she loves that child but not the one who struggles more. Right now no cousins are engaged in my Mom's family. But we don't get to see her family often as she died 9 years ago. I see my Dad's family once a month. So if for some reason a cousin in my Mom's family announces their engagement then can I politely decline this paternal cousin's wedding as long as I offer to reimburse the costs and still get a gift for them? I don't think that will happen but just asking in case how to handle it. I worry a lot about getting rejected by my Mom's family since her death was a suicide. If I say no to a wedding in her family then they won't ask me next time. Dad's family is real close and asks me no matter what and we see them once or twice a month and at every holiday. i'm starting as a freshman this year and i have been doing fencing all my life. i always had mixed feelings about it and was never that good, but convinced my parents that i was enjoying it so that they wouldn't feel bad for having always driven me to practice, buying my gear, etc. i will be joining cross country in a few days and i'm pretty nervous, but i have a feeling that i'll enjoy it more than fencing. the problem is, it only lasts until the end of fall. after that my parents will make me go back to fencing, but i wanted to spend that time doing something fun like the school radio station or theater tech. how should i approach asking my parents? i'm worried that they won't let me because of how much time we've invested in fencing. what should i do?
