Question: Parents Won't Come to My Wedding? Posted: 07 Jun 2015 11:08 PM PDT Very long story, but going to try to make it short. My fiancé and I recently got engaged after being together a little over 3 years, and knowing each other for somewhere around 5 years. My mom has given us grief about the relationship from the start. Aside from that, she's been abusive at times. Anything from having dishes or remotes thrown at me, to being left on the side of the road at night to walk home, to finally being kicked out of her house...over getting a motorcycle. I'm 20 years old and just got my Dental Assisting certification, so I think I'm doing okay. Well now that I'm engaged, she's thrown a fit and brought up everything that makes me "stupid", "selfish", etc. She's really hurt me, and despite that, I've done my best to forgive her. I've given her my best apologies and asked her to have a hand in my wedding or at least just show up. She's refusing. My dad usually takes her side, and my brother is 13, so he's under their rules. I got my wedding dress a couple days ago and she wasn't there for it. It really upset me. So not only will my mother (whom I love very much) not be at my wedding, but my dad won't be there to walk me down the aisle and give me away, and my brother won't be there. My fiancé's dad has said he'll walk me down the aisle, and I appreciate that, but it's just not the same. Things shouldn't be this way. What do I do? I feel that I've done everything I can and that it's mostly up to them now. How do I enjoy my wedding or heal if they don't come? |

Question: Outdoor wedding ceremony places near Glendale, California with city permit? Posted: 07 Jun 2015 09:13 PM PDT My husband and I are having a vowel renewal ceremony and have we were hoping to have it at a beach. Unfortunately the venues we will most likely choose will be in Glendale, which is too far. I would like to keep with the outdoor ceremony. Where are any nice looking outdoor parks, or something with water near Glendale , CA? Maybe through the city where it requires a permit. We're looking to go the less expensive route ;-). A golf course or something similar would be more expensive. Thank you in advance!!! |

Question: Is it necessary to have an "order of ceremony" in your wedding program? Posted: 07 Jun 2015 05:49 PM PDT I am creating my one page double sided programs for my wedding. Not religious. I want to use the program to simply introduce those in the wedding party and say thank you. But I'm not sure if it's bad taste to not have an order of events. Help |

Question: Is it fine to have a civil wedding first and then religious ceremony with party later? Posted: 07 Jun 2015 02:50 PM PDT My fiance and I are getting married in a court in a few weeks. We have been dating for almost 3 years and we really love and are happy together. However, for some immigration purposes we will have to rush the paper work (civil wedding). Unfortunately we do not have the money to make the party right now. So we will wait 1-2 years for the religious and party. Is this ok? Will people judge us? this in the US and we will get married by the catholic church in a few years from now. Please do not be mean and understand that we love each other and we do this to be together forever. |

Question: Where can I find a simple inexpensive wedding dress? Posted: 07 Jun 2015 09:25 AM PDT I am going to elope without a wedding, but I still want to wear a wedding dress. However, I'd like it to be simple and affordable. I mean really affordable (under $250). Any website ideas? Or stores? I don't like going to actual bridal stores because they are so expensive and the dresses Are so intense. Thank you! |
Question: Is it tacky to ask for money for a honeymoon? Posted: 07 Jun 2015 09:12 AM PDT Hello! My boyfriend and I are engaged. We are 24 and 25 and we do not have a lot of money, so we aren't having a wedding. We are getting married at the court on our 6th year anniversary. Our friends and family want to send us gifts, but we don't need any gifts. So we thought about letting our friends and family donate to send us for a long weekend honeymoon. No where that we can't drive to. Our new home will be in San Diego, and so we will probably go to Disney land or something for our honeymoon-nothing fancy. Is this tacky? We don't want to be rude or make anyone feel like they have to donate. We just have family and friends that insist on giving us gifts and we simply do not need anything, since we've been together so long we have all the household necessities already. CAN YOU PLEASE READ THE WHOLE QUESTION BEFORE ANSWERING. I APPRECIATE THE ANSWERS BUT I REALLY DONT GAIN MUCH WHEN YOUR ANSWER IS BASED ON ASSUMPTIONS. I HAVE DETAILED THE SCENARIO IN THE QUESTION, SO PLEASE READ IT. Thank you for your answers, especially those of you who were able to ask and also be KIND. It seems we expect people to buy us our household items when we have a wedding, and our parents to pay for the wedding, but socially its not appropriate to have a honeymoon fund. Thank you so much for letting me know! some of you are really quite rude acting appalled I would even ask this question. I ask because our society says its okay 2 ask 4 people 2 buy u gifts when u get married, its okay to have others pay for your wedding, its okay to have others pay 4 ur children's clothes & needs, so I wanted 2 know is it okay 2 respond 2 someone asking where my registry is, can they buy me a gift, & instead say "well I don't need any gifts, but if u'd like to give us something we would love a weekend trip nearby" LIZ-you are a miserable piece of ****. I am just being real. For anyone to be THIS angry over someone ASKING A QUESTION is beyond me. Telling me I am not educated because I don't know something is ridiculous. You are a pathetic sad miserable human being. If people trying to learn more upsets you so much, GET OUT OF THIS WEBSITE. It's a place for people to ask questions about what they do not know about. Get a ******* life you miserable hag. |
