I need some advice please! When I was younger, maybe 6-8th grade, I was a chubby kid. I weighed 110 at the age of 10 (I don't remember my height) and I was always pushed to lose weight. Always told to keep running on the treadmill, always reminded that I was fat. This was by my parents and they meant well but I don't think they realized that it had a negative impact on me too. Then, I grew out of it. When I hit ages 13-16 I started feeling like I was actually pretty. Now, it's the complete opposite. Stress from school and PMS cravings just made me chubby again. I don't feel good about my hips, thighs, and butt....and I'm being told again that I'm getting fat. I don't feel good in my clothes anymore. I have a bigger frame so my broad shoulders just make me feel worse about myself. I feel ugly. I've started working out again...but :( this is making my self-esteem drop so low. The Problem: I'm a fan of fine art, music, and certain literature. I am a very talented cellist and a moderately good artist (I've one multiple cello competitions in my state and one county art show). I love listening to classical music and reading Ray Bradbury's novels. However, the girl I like is the complete opposite. She is tone-deaf, is bored by classical music and art, and despises Ray Bradbury's books. The Question: Is it worth it to date someone who has drastically contrasting viewpoints on some of the most important things in my life? I have very little experience dating people who have such wildly different opinions than I do.

It doesn't matter that I have most of the character and value Good Men ask for--Loyal, Sweet, Kind, Smart, Funny, etc. etc. etc. They still don't ask me out even though they like my personality. This HURTS SO MUCH. I have always been chubby genetically so I can't help part of that. I'm losing the extra weight now but even then, no good man is asking me out. I have a pretty face.
