Question: Can we have a big 3 year anniversary party? Posted: 10 Jun 2015 07:39 PM PDT We got married at the JOP because we wanted to share the same last name when we welcomed our daughter and we had planned to have a reception after her birth but as many know our focus shifted once she joined our lives. We obviously can not have a do-over. Our families live on opposite ends of the country and have never met. We would like to celebrate our anniversary with all of our friends and family. We will not be asking for gifts. We really just want to celebrate our love AND have all the people we love in one place to have a good time. Can anyone share any suggestion/advice on this subject? |

Question: Halloween wedding attire word g needed? Posted: 10 Jun 2015 06:49 PM PDT Having a Halloween wedding/masquerade themed wedding. I would like guests to wear black/dark clothing like "fun/fake funeral" wear but I want them to be classy. Semi formal. How can I word this on the invitations? Not wanting to sound pushy. |

Question: Can you have a bridal shower if their is no marriage license.? Posted: 10 Jun 2015 12:29 PM PDT We legally can not get married due to health insurance reasons but no one is to be the wiser. Is it ok to except gifts and have a bridal shower if no one knows that there's no paper work. We are getting married in the eyes of god and that's what should matter. Note I'm not the one who wants the bridal shower I actually do not its my mother in law |
Question: Marriage at 18 laws/rules? Posted: 10 Jun 2015 12:16 PM PDT So, my partner and I just became engaged. I'm 17, so we decided to get married after I turn 18. I've been trying to find venues all day. I found one, which has a bar (I can choose what type I want, thinking of going with the Cash Bar) I was just curious if I could have at least 1 glass of wine/champagne since it is appropriate when a toast is given? |
Question: Can you plan a wedding in 2 days?? Posted: 10 Jun 2015 12:08 PM PDT Will I be as to pull my dream wedding off in two days. All my family and fiance's family live with in an hour. All except my sister. She is coming to town tomorrow. I will pick her up run errands. Try and find a dress. Order a cake. Get bride mait dresses. Suits for the groom and best man. Can I really pull a wedding off I. Two days? Or I'm I just dreaming... |
Question: Why is there such a negativity around divorce? Posted: 10 Jun 2015 10:36 AM PDT The moment a couple decides (maybe mutual) to get divorced, their close friends and family try to get them reconciled or visit some shitty marriage counselor instead. Why can't encourage them to get separated instead? If even a single one (husband/wife) doesn't want to continue their marriage then they should be shown the divorce route, not some marriage counselling! |
Question: Do you think my NAME will prevent me from finding love and marriage? Posted: 10 Jun 2015 10:20 AM PDT Would you ever write someone off because of their name alone? I feel like I'm attractive and have a good personality, but anytime a guy hears that my name is Agatha he either laughs or I just never hear from him again. I'm not joking I've considered a name change but fear I'll offend my family Would you marry someone named Agatha or would you be too embarrassed to introduce her to people? Be honest! |
Question: Are you the marrying kind? Posted: 10 Jun 2015 10:05 AM PDT If not what made you marry? Just curious, that's all I suppose I'm destined to be a Spinster. A Kniock out Spinster, but nevertheless a Spinster |
Question: Do you need to give a gift (money) at a vow renewal service? Posted: 10 Jun 2015 10:03 AM PDT My coworker's parents are having a vow renewal. On the invitaton they asked for money as gifts. I didn't know you need to give a gift, let alone money! I'm a college student with no job right now. What would be appropriate for me to give? Has anyone heard of such a thing? |

Question: What's next... a kidney? Posted: 10 Jun 2015 08:26 AM PDT We're the Groom's parents. The wedding WAS to be a simple, intimate affair. Almost imperceptibly, it slowly has become something else. I volunteered 18 centerpieces, a very tasteful rehearsal dinner for 24 (mom invited extras), flowers and a cake. In came a rented dance floor, decorated arch. Husband needs a tux. "Mom" is wearing a semi formal gown. I guess I have to do likewise. I drew the line at fresh Boston ferns and new curtains for the ballroom. Every day it's something new. Karaoke, a "money dance". Homemade favors for 200. She just keeps adding minutia, gimmicks from every wedding she knows of. It's getting tacky in my eyes. I'm all for marriage, ritual, celebration and having it witnessed by those they love, but it's getting silly. I support elegant, simple. All this ..."stuff"? How bout a tractor pull? The punchline is mom just revealed to me their grim financial situation. If you've come this far... Typically assertive, I agreed for the sake of harmony. It came an inch at a time. Now she asks we pay half the bridal suite, which she said was their gift to the kids. Every day it's something new. Give an inch, take a mile? Do I share this with my son? Living an hour away with demanding jobs they may not know. Or should I keep my mouth shut and just go with it hoping for the best? It's not even 3 weeks away. Am I being unreasonable? Just how much should the groom's parents contribute, especially when the bride's mother keeps sliding in new "touches"? |
Question: What should I do...? Posted: 10 Jun 2015 08:10 AM PDT I called off our wedding a month before because my fiancé did not seem to be in love with me. He was no longer affectionate and became distant. He promised me it was just work and wedding stress and said he would try harder and to just get thru it together. 3.5 years we have been married. We have a cute 2 year old daughter. We own a beautiful farm and I stay at home to raise her. My husband has not kissed me (like a man) in 3 years. He doesn't hold my hand, he is rarely kind and mostly gruff and dismissive. We had a date night three weeks ago and was the first in 12 months. He has two kids from a previous marriage that I am mother to every other week. I have swooped these kids in as my own. He will not tell me any compliments! I am a totally city girl who changed to a country girl for him and still he acts like I am dirt. I felt I could suck it up for my daughter but now I am feeling depressed, isolated, lonely, irritable... the nice kind me is vanishing and it is making me a horrible person that I resent. He is textbook passive aggressive and now I have become textbook depressed. I resent him and his two kids. He says it may take years for him to change towards me and that because of our vow to God that I promised till death do us part and I am the selfish bad guy for giving up. I have a second cottage I am currently in the process of moving into. |

Question: How will my response be if my Best Man speech isn't all that funny? Posted: 10 Jun 2015 07:17 AM PDT Hello, I have written, edited, rehearsed, and finalized my best man speech for my brother. Wedding is in 2 weeks. My brother and I are very close and the majority of the material in the toast is about how close we are, how much of a good guy he is, and how all of his characteristics will make him a great husband and father. Only thing is I have only 2 jokes and no real funny stories. We are very close but don't have any embarrassing or hilarious stories that I could tell in front of the wedding. So, I just want to know if my toast will be perceived as lame or boring if it isn't all that funny and it is more serious than it is humorous. Thanks |

Question: My girlfriend is dying. What should i do? Help me please!!? Posted: 10 Jun 2015 02:50 AM PDT :'( Yes! She is suffering the last stage of Lukaemia and dying. Her time may be at most few months. I can accept the truth and even though it's so hard for me, it is harder for her to live like that. Sometimes I pray God to take her back soon. Everyday, when I go to hosiptal and tell her stories and jokes, she smiles. And when I go back home, she cries. I really don't know what to do. I love her and she loves me too. Here is my question. Should I ask her to marry me? If so, what will be the possible reply. Help me. I just wanted her to be my bride before she goes. :'( #LifeIsn'tFair |
