Question: Do I have to make someone a bridesmaid if I was their maid of honor? Posted: 30 Jun 2015 10:24 PM PDT A year and a half ago, a friend of mine got married, and she asked me to be her maid of honor (and only bridesmaid). I definitely want to invite her to my wedding, but I don't want to make her my maid of honor or even a bridesmaid. We didn't have any falling out or anything, but we're not close at all anymore, and really weren't close before her wedding. (Like, hadn't talked in a year when she asked me.) She was my best friend growing up, and even though we don't really talk, I think of her as family, so I want her there, but I feel like she'll expect to be in the bridal party. I'm not much for etiquette rules as is, but here, I feel like I'm either going to have to potentially hurt her feelings or include her in the wedding party with people she doesn't know at all. Everyone else knows each other and we're a tight-knit group, and I don't want to make it weird for her. I care about her feelings, though, and want her to know that, but I would rather just have her as a guest. It's going to be a small wedding anyway, so it's not like she won't get to spend any time with me at all, but knowing her (or who she was the last time we talked), this will at least bother her. I'm probably way overthinking this, but I don't want to hurt her. Even though we're not that close anymore, I care about her and value the friendship we had, and don't want to mess it up because of this. Thanks for the advice, and sorry for the novel. It's late at night where I am, and I ramble when I'm sleepy. |
Question: Do we have to provide a bathroom at our wedding reception? Posted: 30 Jun 2015 10:11 PM PDT We are having the wedding reception in our backyard because the yard is so beautiful but we do not want people coming into the house to use our bathrooms. Is it okay not to provide a bathroom at the reception? Should we put signs all over the doors that say no bathrooms available? Should we rent a blue bowl? |
Posted: 30 Jun 2015 09:11 PM PDT My dad and his fiance are getting married in just a few weeks, and I told my dad that I wanted to give a speech at his wedding. I didn't exactly know what I was signing up for however... Im 16, so this is pretty new to me. What do I include in my speech? Should I make it funny? I have no idea how wedding speeches go, but I know I'm the only one on my dad's side speaking (right after the brides two sisters and dad). I'm so nervous!! Help? |
Question: "Hardcore" romantic songs for a wedding? Including for father-daughter dance? Posted: 30 Jun 2015 08:38 PM PDT Bands I like are We Came As Romans, I See Stars, All Time Low, Breathe Carolina, really anything like that. I also like pop music, but my boyfriend likes more hardcore songs. The wedding is next summer, so I still have time, but we don't even have a song, and I don't know what to choose for my father-daughter dance. |
Question: How much should my bf spend on a good quality engagement ring? Posted: 30 Jun 2015 08:25 PM PDT I was in a jewelers the other day looking at engagement rings. The lady educated me all about a quality cut, color, and carat (I took physics and know a bit about how light bends). The rings I saw were about 3,000 average for a bit above average quality. The rings were pretty but I did not find "the one". I told my boyfriend the prices and he only wants to spend no more than 1,000. He's even used the phrase "maybe we can find a cheap ring elsewhere"...it's nice to know I am only worthy of what is cheap. He is going to be making about 70,000/yr after he graduates in spring, but he is adamant about only spending that much. My absolute dream ring comes from the Verragio collection and rings start at about 3,000 WITHOUT the diamond. Am I being too selfish? I said I would pay for my ring if he didn't want to spend and even told him I'd wait for a proper good quality ring if it took a few years. He did not listen and said he'll get whatever ring he likes for me :/ what should I do? I told my mother about the budget and she laughed saying my dad spent more than double that and that was over 30 years ago. Anyways, bring on the you're nothing but a useless gold digger comments lol. I just thought that since this ring would be part of my body for life, it should be great quality and a ring I absolutely adore...but maybe I'm wrong and will always just dream. |
Posted: 30 Jun 2015 08:22 PM PDT I'm starting to make a guest list for my wedding. When I'm writing names do I put them down individually or as a couple? For example: my brother is married so do I write his name and then next line write my sister in laws name or all on one line? |

Question: I don't have a best man, because I have no male friends.? Posted: 30 Jun 2015 06:43 PM PDT All of my friends are females, who I've known since before I met my fiancé. Can I have a "best woman" or what would the title be called? |
Question: Opinion on a pot luck wedding instead of catering for 60-70 people? Posted: 30 Jun 2015 06:40 PM PDT Venue and open bar still paid for by the married couple, with some light snacks and trays also being provided. Wedding is local with no out of towners. |
Question: Getting married soon? Posted: 30 Jun 2015 06:16 PM PDT How many bridesmaids can I have? And also do they buy their own dress or how does that work? Any info helps please and thanks. Preferably someone who's had a wedding before.. |
Question: Can a brother but his sister a ring? Posted: 30 Jun 2015 05:57 PM PDT I m 17 years old and I m very close to my sister. I also have a girlfriend who I love very much and will most likely marry her someday however my sister is becoming very jealous because I m not spending as much time with her I was wondering if I could but them both a ring the same ring in fact to symbolize them both being the 2 most important girls in my life it s not a promise or engagement ring just a ring to symbolize my love for the 2 of them |
Question: Is it too early to buy an engagement ring (NOT to get engaged, to buy the ring)? Posted: 30 Jun 2015 05:56 PM PDT I already know my answer to this, I am just curious to what yours is. I ve been dating my girlfriend for a year. She has graduated college, and I am entering my Junior year. I am proposing to her during second semester of my Junior year. I have a lot more free time over the summer, and I have more expendable income. I have been looking for an engagement ring, and have found the perfect one. Is 6 months prior to engagement too early to buy the ring? We are both committed to marrying each other. I am not looking for marriage advise. I have more expendable income over the summer, and during the year I will have no free time between her, two jobs, school, and friends, and I want to make sure I find the right ring. Thoughts? |

Question: How do i get a white beautiful bride for free? Posted: 30 Jun 2015 07:13 AM PDT |
Question: Okay party planners, I need your advice!? Posted: 30 Jun 2015 05:44 AM PDT I'm the MOH hosting a bridal shower for my BFF and had some other people helping me. We ended up buying pink tablecloths and pink napkins. I need something to break up the color at the table setting. At first I thought a paper doily might be nice, but I'm not sure if the bride would like it. Any other suggestions on what I could use? I will likely set the table with the napkin and silverware, but not a plate (those will be at the buffet). I also need to think of an inexpensive centerpiece! |
