Question: Gift for a Bridal Shower? Posted: 27 Sep 2015 07:22 PM PDT I am going to the bridal shower of a cousin who I don't know particularly well. I also happen to be on a VERY tight budget. What would be an acceptable gift? Would it be okay to get her a set of mugs, or is that more of a wedding gift? Thank you! |
Question: Should the groomsmen wear vests? Posted: 27 Sep 2015 06:08 PM PDT I finally picked out the colors for my wedding and the bridesmaid dresses, and went over to Men s Warehouse to pick out the suits for the men. They started showing me various options with a tie/vest combo under the suit that matches the bridesmaid s dresses, and a different colored vest/time for the groom. However, when I look at various photos on Pinterest, it looks like most grooms aren t wearing a vest. Is it more commonplace for grooms not to wear a vest? I like the ability to easily have a distinction between the grooms/groomsmen s outfits, but we re getting married in FL and I am worried the vests will just add another unnecessary layer. |
Question: Where did you meet your Husband/Wife? Posted: 27 Sep 2015 05:48 PM PDT I feel like it's so hard to meet quality guys these days, especially after college. I work 9-5 and then when I'm home, I have dinner and relax for a bit, then its time for bed. I tried online dating, but all the guys are creepy, just want sex, send me inappropriate pictures before even getting to know me, etc. I don't want to meet guys in bars or clubs either, seems like the guys just want sex there too. I feel like sitting around and waiting for men to approach me is going nowhere. But I don't like talking to strangers in public and i'm shy around good looking guys. |
Question: What is a good group bridal shower gift? Posted: 27 Sep 2015 03:06 PM PDT I am helping throw a bridal shower for a young bride at my church. We serve in jr high ministry together. I wanted to think of a gift that each guest could bring something small and together, it all makes one gift. Or something where each guest brings one thing and it creates a collection (seen it with baby books at a baby shower) Keep in mind that most of the guests will be jr high girls so it needs to relatively low cost and appropriate for their age |
Question: Is it rude to ask guests to pay for their meal? Posted: 27 Sep 2015 01:08 PM PDT We never had an actual wedding and this year we were going to "renew" our vows with about 50 close family members. It will be a very simple, family reunion type deal. The ceremony is going to be held at a local park, and originally everyone was going to go out to eat somewhere. But now I am thinking of maybe staying at the park and catering a buffet meal so people dont have to drive back and forth. Would it be rude to ask them to pay $15 per head and $5 for kids, or should we just do the restaurant idea. People were going to pay for their own meal anyway... this isnt a wedding, just a time for us to say our vows in front of a few close people. My husband and I got engaged and then a few months later he was severely injured in Afghanistan so our wedding plans got put off and we did a court house wedding when he came home, which was 2k miles away from any of our family. We thought of having a small ceremony and reception but people (online) said it would be tacky so I said never mind we just wont have it, I guess I missed my "me me me" moment. My dad had already told people I was thinking of having a celebration of some sort and when they heard we were not going to do it they were disappointed and they came up with the idea of a ceremony and then go out to dinner. I was just trying to think of other ideas to make it easier on everyone else. Wasnt sure if restaurants reserve spaces for parties that large or if we would have to wait long for tables or what the parking situation would be like. Just was trying to get some ideas. No need to be rude in the response. Thank you to the people who voiced their opinions without getting an attitude. |
Question: Why should we invite the step monster to my wedding? Posted: 27 Sep 2015 09:45 AM PDT My dad and the step monster have been married for a few years now. I don't like her at all. She's rude, obnoxious, and I can't stand her, and neither can my fiance. I've invited my dad to my wedding, but I told him to leave the step monster at home. He's declined my invitation, and I told him that's his decision. My fiance dislikes her with a passion for very good reasons. She's been verbally and physically abusive to our 2 year old triplets. We refuse to have a mean, nasty, abusive, vindictive, racist ***** at our wedding. I just wish my dad would understand that his wife is not welcome to come to our wedding. My dad may love her, but we don't. I understand that it;s customary to invite married couples to a wedding. But the step monster is a rude, conniving, indecent, immoral, racist ****. Most of the people in my dad's family exclude her, because she's this way. My fiance is a fantastic guy, and he's a great father to our 2 year old triplets. The step monster said some racial slurs about my fiance and our kids. I don't take very kindly to peopel calling my fiance or my kids names. |
