My best friend recently started dating a girl who does drugs and drinks. I'm trying to support her because they're unsure of themselves and they need support so I don't want to tear them down, but I do not want my best friend being around someone who does drugs and alcohol. Recently my son's 23 yr old girlfriend has changed the way she treats me. On a normal day, it was a "Hi, hello, how are you, goodbye" basis. However, recently I have been feeling a change in the air. More compliments, more conversation, deeper looks, and so on. I feel almost good when she compliments me and it's as though I want her to carry on. It was my partners birthday yesterday and he didnt expect me to buy him big gifts because i'm unemployed but i had in fact a plan to sell two pairs of my favourite running shoes to get money and use it to buy him shoes because i felt he doesn't have enough, so i did that, gave them the shoes and despite him being happy he asked me to exchange them for another type and colour, i though no big deal (this was at midnight) and ive had planned to put on some balloons and write him a post card on the next day plus cook him his favourite japanese soup. The following day (his birthday) turned out to be very busy for me since we are selling our apartment and i had to be out of it because there were people coming in, i came home just an hour before he would finish work and i quickly made the soup but didnt have time for the balloons and the rest, when he came home i gave him the soup and he seemed happy, ive apologised him for not completing all my gift plans and told him id do them the following day so this way he can actually have 3 days of celebrating! he said its fine but it all exploded later that night, he cried, and screamed, he said that i dont love him enough to give him a decent present or at least a postcard, at that point i felt hurt but i understood he might expect more, we got into a fight and at the end i just couldn't take it and told him to F himself so he got up, and bought me a ticket to fly home to my country next week and never come back. What do you guys think?

My ex left me when I got pregnant and started dating some other girl within a few weeks (who he later married). He's never seen his daughter because he's always too "busy." He never helped financially and told his family he doubted the baby was even his because he wasn't ready to be a father and didn't want to accept responsiblity. My baby is a year old and he doesn't want to give up his rights. He's trying to get 50/50 and although he won't get that right away I know if he attends all the supervised visitations eventually he will get joint. It bothers me he doesn't just let me move on with my life after he refused to try to be there for us. I feel like he is only doing this out of spite to punish me for having a child he did not want. I don't think what he did to me was deserved. Can anyone reassure me that life will be fair in the end?

I'm moving 7 hours away.. to better my son's life and mine. The schools where I'm moving are rank 6 in the US. While the schools where we currently live are ranked 50. Also I want to major in marine biology and colleges around here don't offer that. So we are moving somewhere that does. I want to make a better life for my son. And moving away from this small town seems best. My attorney typed up a letter stating all of that. Including the new visitation we thought would be in the best interest of my son. And also making up time he would miss by giving him more time in the summer. I'm also agreeing to drive more than half way to meet him. I'm driving 4 hours and 30 minutes while he is only driving 2 hours. (which he isn't okay with. He wants me to drive the complete 7 hours.. he also wants me to keep the every other weekend. It's not possible. My son will get out of school at 3:55. Which means we wouldn't even get to where his dad lives until midnight.. then he wants me to pick him up on Sunday at 6. Which also mean's not getting home until 1 am... not reasonable. Especially for a 4 year old.) I don't know what to do.. we can't agree on visitation apparently... what I really need to know is what happens if he doesn't file anything in 30 days about us moving? Does visitation get canceled out. Do we have to go to court again... how does this work..help.

So last night, i had to unfortunately had to break up with my GF of almost 3 years. Long story short, i can't give her what she needs(expects). She grew up in a family where they never told her no, so whenever I have to tell her no, she freaks out. I'm a 26 year old guy. Some of my friends are already, or starting to, get married. Why am so beyond disgusted by the idea of marriage and monogamy? I got out of a 3 year relationship about 6 months ago and I'm sitting here thinking, why the hell would I ever want to do that again? And it was a great relationship! I just got bored and wanted to focus on my career. Every married person I've ever spoken to has told me it's overrated and monotonous waking up day after day to the same person. Am I just bitter or too young to understand this? Or am I just clearly not anywhere near ready for marriage? All of the above is probably true, but I'm wondering if any married people out there have changed their views on marriage since getting married.

I go to a very good private school and get pretty good grades (pretty much a B average, but the classes are a little harder than public schools). School just started a week and half ago and my mom is already yelling at me. I havn t even gotten one test, quiz, or essay grade back yet. Every time I do my homework and tell her Im finished she s like, "do more studying, you need to do at least 2 and a half of extra studying in addition to your homework". (I do extra studying and try to explain that to her. She has no idea what I do because she doesn't watch me do my work). Anyway she knows I'm not Ivy League material and isn't pushing me to go to an Ivy League school, but she's always like, 'if you don't get B+'s or higher I'm not buying you a car and you can't hang out with your friends!" I always try to explain to her that I always try my hardest even though to her I can always try harder. Bottom line is I'm in 11th grade and have to start looking at colleges. The colleges she wants me get into I feel like I am not capable of getting into - she also says if I don't get into a top 30 college she isn't even sending me to college and wasting the money on it, which is fine with me because honestly, I really don't even want to go to college. Both my parents did not graduate college and they are very successful. My dad wants me to come work with him, where he has a vey successful construction business, after high school and doesn't care entirely about grades, but mainly because he and my mom are separated and she tells him, and everyone else, I get all A's when I don't. I get tutored everyday except Friday and Saturday for 2 hours and it's really too much for me. I don't care too much about getting amazing grades; I am a B student and I'm fine with that. I just really need all the yelling and fighting to stop. Please does anyone have any suggestions?
