There's a group of about 10-12 guys and girls that pretty much exclude me from everything. It sucks because I know they probably have the most fun. I know some other girls but we aren't close and I only have classes with 3 out of 6 of them. I'm doing stage crew but there's only a few sophomores, like me, and I have no idea if we would ever be friends. It sucks because it seems that because of the program I can't meet the rest of the 500 people in my grade. |

But recently she had been getting distant, so I asked her if it was anything personal. She said no and that she was under a lot of stress. Now I have OCD and one of my ticks is that I sometimes have to ask a question more than once to "accept" with the answer. So I asked her again, basically saying the same thing, that I still felt it was personal etc etc. She got SUPER pissed, said it weirded her out and was very annoyed. I explained to her my OCD and all and she seemed fine, said we were good, gave me a hug etc. But she started ignoring my texts and finally blocked me on FB (along with my sister who she was also friends with). Now it might be relevant to mention that she had a lot of mental troubles; mainly depression and PTSD. She also started being distant with some mutual friends too. Should I feel bad about this? Was what I did really that bad for her to cut me off? |

I've always been sort of shy and quiet, but back in middle school I always had a good group of friends. Come Junior year and I've still been unable to make a single new friend. It's like I've forgotten how to start conversations and talk to people. No one really dislikes me or anything, and I've been called things like nice and funny occasionally, but I really don't talk unless talked to. I could probably count the amount of words I say per day. I feel like I don't exist almost, as cliche as that sounds. I got lucky this year and kind of reconnected with my old best friend, and we're good friends again, but it seems I don't matter to anyone else. Last year I started dressing a bit nicer and I got glasses which I actually think make me look a bit better, but I've always been self conscious about being underweight. I'm trying to gain weight but it's so much harder than I thought. If I was only a little bigger, maybe I'd be more confident, but who knows. I also feel like I missed an opportunity by passing on a lot of honors and AP classes. Those would probably be the places I'd find more people like me, but I was stupid and took normal academic classes where I have no interest in getting to know a lot of these people I've been waiting for college for a fresh start of sorts, but I also dont want to waste my high school years. I feel like a complete loser. I guess I'm just whining at this point. Any advice? |

But, my older sister who is one year older than me, lately has been offending me with the same thing all the time. That my nose is too big. She has been doing it in front of her friends and today really pissed me off. I never said anything back cause I don't wanna hurt her feelings about something "personal". Anyways what happened today that really pissed me off was we were waiting in the lunch line, and we were both talking to this girl named Kylie. Than we randomly went to a topic about weight and I asked Kylie how much she weighs, and she was lower than me, than my sister said, "yeah well your nose makes up the extra 10 pounds you have". I GOT SO PISSED! I HATE MY DUMBASSS SISTER! i didnt say anything back and just slapped her really hard on the shoulder. WHAT CAN I SAY FOR NOW ON!? i just never had a come back for a big nose. She is a nice person and doesn't mean harm but for some reason she just really racks my nerves. Like she'll come into my office and ask a question and I'll give my response, hoping she'll leave, but she'll nod her head, say 'ok', and then slowly exit but before she's completely out the door she'll point to something in my office and start talking about it. 5 minutes later she'll say "we'll I'm just going to go ahwad and sit down" at which point she proceeds to make herself comfortable in my office. She also one-ups alot. For instance, if I say 'my mom does this..' she'll say "oh, my mom does that too'. And she talks with a 'cynical, sarcastic' tone most of the time. It makes it hard for me to disengage bc I constantly feel like she's doing some stand-up comedy routine about the hardships in her life and I need to respond to whatever sarcastic one-liner comment she's making. So what do I do tomorrow when I'm stuck with her for 5 hours? I'm afraid I won't be able to take it. |

I go to a predominately all black school and they're not welcoming at all . Everyone is already cliqued up and all the girls either have attitude problems or just plain loud ghetto and as people say "ratchet". All my friends I did have transferred to a new school and turned fake on me . They act like I'm a burden and don't want to be bothered . For ex : they don't text or call , they don't invite me over or anywhere at all , they don't tag me in their post anymore they basically slowly but surely cut me off . I only have 1 girl I hang with and she doesn't deal with me outside of school . While we're in school all she does is talk about her boyfriend alllll day and she's friends with girls who don't like me . I get my car in January but what's the use if I have no friends ? Yes I joined a dance team but I only deal with them when we're at practice other than that I have ZERO friends. I have nowhere to go . I'm really feeling sad because I always thought I would have a fun social life and do things teenagers do but I thought wrong . I stay in the house every weekend . I stay on my phone 24/7 and watch other people have fun . This is not the life I wanted what should I do ? I want to be a fun outgoing social teenager before I have to become a adult . |

I came here in 4th grade, but I guess my English skill's better than her since she doesn't really speak English well, I mean she speaks it but not fluent. But I'm fine with that too. So we talk a lot in Chinese because it's our native language. But I'm born in California. So she's the most open with me. So today in lunch she said she misses her old schoolmates and start sobbing. I understand that but the others don't. They just comforted her, But since I experienced it, I really feel bad. ON the way to the bathroom she literally said :"after I came here, I want to kill myself." I was really scared by that. She also said things like I want to punch someone(or myself)" And starts crying again. She also has bad grades due to language problems. I told her she should tell the teachers so they can help her, but she won't. She also told me she has slight autism, so she's not good with friends. SHe won't talk to anyone she trust about that and said she cries under the quilt a lot.WHat should I do to help her? |

At some point in my life, while i was working on my thesis, i faced problems that i needed to share with someone who is not a classmate or close friend, for reasons related to avoiding gossip and keeping confidentiality about those random problems. So, i reached out for help through asking a friend in medical school to meet for some time and talk. In fact, we already did that once 4 months before and i felt a relief as he was kinda supportive, but then i did not want to disturb him again until i felt very bad and afraid of hurting myself. I did not show that to him, but i asked him to meet when he is free so that i share with him what i went through and how psychotherapy made my case worst. I unfortunately, was totally ignored after that and felt that i was kinda viewed with an eye of coldness for being weak. It hurts so much because i'm the tupe Ho has reached a high level of empathy that makes'me listen to others without judging. I know this seems like unecessary drama, and i hope it won't generate some negative/ disrespectful comments, but i wanted to know if any of you would consider being asked for such kinda help from a friend, to be weird, or to view the person as very weak, or is it a normal thing that could happen to anyone? N.B. I used to be very secretive about my personal matters and problems in general, but depression pushed me to disclose too much with the wrong people, i did it twice. |

When they do talk to me, it's because they need me to dogsit or babysit their children and can't seem to find anyone else to do so. They ask me very briefly to help them, make sure that they're not around when I get to their house, and don't say much more than "thanks" as soon as I have finished helping them. One of them did her work (analyzing data) in excel sheet and asked me to send it to the boss and the second research assistant in email. The problem is that when I did so, the second assistant thought that I am the one who did the analysis work, and the first assistant did not do her work. Therefore, she replied to the email (with CCing the boss and four other people) by thanking me and insulting the first worker, saying: "Thank you so much. The analysis is really great. You really did a wonderful job.You worked hard for the analysis, while H (the other assistant) is just relaxing and making you do her work..." But then I replied to her and told her that in fact it was "H" who did the analysis and H has worked really hard on the analysis. I just fear that this might have embarrassed her. Have I? especially that the boss and four other workers were CCed in these email conversations. |

| Question: My roommates are too loud at night? Posted: 25 Sep 2015 12:11 PM PDT My roommates every night stay up until 6 in the morning, usually drinking with friends. I am the only person in the house who works a full time job. My work starts at 7am so i usually get out of bed shortly after my roommates pass out. A majority of the nights, I deal with them making noises which keeps me up. I have been losing much sleep. This recently started to affect my performance at work and school. I used to tell them nicely to keep it down and that they keep me awake but its just getting worse and worse each week. I am extremely frustrated and noticed I am beginning to show anger and hostility towards them. Weve all been really good friends since grade school (now early 20's). What should I do? BTW Moving out is not an option. Weve got 3 more months on our lease. It's really a great building, great location. |

Ether I m with friends or at a party I am so awkward, at party s I mostly stay seated and talk little I try to make an afford but there is always a somewhat awkwardness in the air. When I m in a group of friends I find it hard to get in the conversation with them. At school otherwise I am extremely talkative but outside of school its completely different, I sometimes ask myself if they find me weird or etc.. I get told a lot that I m quiet and awkward which bothers me quite a lot. I also have 2 groups of friends: my friends outside of school who are around 17years old but my friends at school are my age but find them extremely immature. I am also pretty self-confidence. I am a guy and a pretty a loner since middle school. there are 2 girls behind my seat and I felt like they kept messing with me.I am pretty sure ,they threw pieces of rubber(or something) at me(who know they might be joking). their leg hit me at back X5-6(not strongly). and there came the teacher to give us a piece of a sheet and went to their seats and told them not to do that.do what? were they probably were messing with me ? Posted: 25 Sep 2015 10:25 AM PDT I'm almost 15 and have no friends, I'm currently in homeschool but will be in regular school next year, which scares me to the point to where I cry every night about it. All the people I meet will talk to me for about a week- a month then eventually stop. I don't know what's wrong with me, maybe I act too desperate to have a friend. I'm super nice. I just don't get it. I can't do social settings, but I'm perfectly fine with a one on one with someone I know. Once I tell a friend i have depression and SAD they always treat me differently and I hate that I have it. I never asked for any of this. So now I have no one to talk to at all anymore. I start getting anxious around family now too... 1. Super nice is just my personality, not going to change who I am for anyone. 2. I feel it's important that if someone is going to be in my life at all, they should know about it. It's a big part of me, and I've had cases where I tell later on and it's just as bad, if not, worse. 3. SAD is Social Anxiety Disorder 4. I've recently went to homeschooling BECAUSE of bullying. I've only been homeschooled for a year and a half now. 5. Yeah cause I sure did ask to have a mental illness. I'm so sure it's my fault. I am a introvert, yet that doesn't mean I want to just talk to myself at all hours of every day. How could someone be an extrovert with social anxiety doesn't even make sense there. I know exactly how to make a friend, but that doesn't mean that the person stays interested enough to stay in my life more than a month. I don't mean to be rude, but your answer is horrible. Im not overweight, or eat unhealthy, I drink only water with milk sometimes, I'm a vegetarian, and I eat really healthy constantly. I don't even use salt much either, so I'm 100% healthy and I do exercise. I've been struggling with depression for 6 years now, and social anxiety for about 3. I dont go "Hi I have Depression and SAD how are you" I usually end up telling them after they ask me why I do certain things I do, or feel sad a lot, or I don't laugh or smile much. Nobody gives a crap or cares about me. Even if its my birthday! i see people from my school have over 100 "Happy birthday" posts on their timeline while on my birthday i receive no phone calls and nobody except my family writes me "Happy birthday". im feeling very lonely and jealous of my friends because of their popularity and their girlfriends. i also dont have a girlfriend. i spend my free time just playing on my laptop games and i already feel that i have wasted my life and that its too late to get friends or a girlfriend. im pretty depressed most of the time too. someone from my school told me on facebook "Youre useless, pathetic, dumb, ugly, and lonely. nobody likes you" and i think hes right in everything. i feel like suiciding but im religious and i know suiciding is wrong. please help me, i feel like im useless in this world :( |

I don't mind the work and I get paid a little better than my last job. But the problem is that I can't fit in or connect with my coworkers. I'm a 23 year old guy, college student. I work with like five ladies who are all between the ages of 38-55. They're nice and all but I just don't seem to fit in. They talk about how they're gonna make pulled pork for dinner and how their husbands forgot to pick their kids up from hockey practice. They always tell me I'm too quiet but it's because I really just don't connect with them or have anything in common with them other than being able to do deposits and withdrawals. Is this a job worth keeping? Do you guys know any other entry level jobs for college students that pay around 12 an hour where I might be working with people more similar to me?? |

I don't understand why he says this a lot, when we talk about traveling. He's traveled way before I did overseas and saw more stuff than I did. And other people who have jobs that send them all over the world, pay for their flights and hotels say this to me too. I'm not in any situation where I get any kind of hook ups for flights or fancy hotels. My travels have been paid by me and only me. Sometimes, I don't know if friends are really happy for me or not.
