Question: My whole family hates my fiance. What do I do? Posted: 14 Jan 2017 08:01 PM PST My fiance and I are getting married on May 27 in Chicago. We are both very excited to spend the rest of our lives with each other. However, my family wasn't so excited in fact they were disappointed because they hate my fiance because they think he's a loser. He dropped out of college and never attends church. I asked both my younger sisters to be bridesmaids and they both rejected. My fiance asked my brother to be a groomsmen and he rejected too. My parents want nothing to do with the wedding, which means I'm stuck paying for it. I really want my family to like my fiance because after all he is the love of my life and even though they've treated him like garbage he has been really nice to all of them, which is extra puzzling in why my family is so cold toward him. What should I do? Should I not invite them or should I tell them how I feel? |
Question: Do you have to be an ordained minister to renew someone's vows? Posted: 14 Jan 2017 06:27 PM PST My friend was married recently at her local town hall and just decided that she actually wants a ceremony for her friends and relatives to be a part of. She asked me if I would perform the ceremony to renew her vows, but I am not an ordained minister. I was wondering if I need to be in order to conduct the ceremony. |
Question: Do you have to be an ORDAINED minister to marry people? Posted: 14 Jan 2017 06:24 PM PST What is the advantages/disadvantages of being ordained? |
Question: Can an ordained minister perform his own marriage ceremony? Posted: 14 Jan 2017 06:23 PM PST Or can anyone qualified to perform a marriage do his or her own for that matter? |
Question: I'm an ordained minister, but I don't know what to say!!? Posted: 14 Jan 2017 06:20 PM PST I am marrying a couple on Wednesday night (3 days from now) and I have no clue what to do!! I have spoken with the planner, and have gotten very clearly that they don't want anything too formal, too long, too religious or too sappy. How do I make this right for them? What do I say? When do I say it? Is there some sort of schedule? HELP!! |
Question: Can a Catholic man become an ordained minister to wed someone? Posted: 14 Jan 2017 06:14 PM PST I would love for my father to marry my fiance and myself. I asked him last night if he would consider marrying us and he said absolutely. My only question is can you be catholic and be an ordained minister. |
Question: What do you call an Ordained Minister? Posted: 14 Jan 2017 06:12 PM PST What title would you give someone who has been ordained in a Christian ministry? What would they be called by someone who wants them to perform a marriage ceremony? Are they called Reverend, Pastor or Minister? Such as Pastor Joe Smith, Reverend Joe Smith, or Minister Joe Smith, or do they have a title like that at all? I have a friend who was recently ordained, so I have questions like this for another friend of mine who doesn't know him and she is getting married. She would like to talk to him, but doesn't know how to address him, and I haven't been able to get a hold of him yet to ask. Does anyone know? Thanks! |

Question: How to decide who gets a plus one to my wedding? Posted: 14 Jan 2017 03:29 PM PST I'm getting married next summer and am trying to come up with a guest list but am at a point where I have to cut about 40 close friends and family (pre plus ones) and there really is no room for me to be giving any out. I feel like I'm choosing between family and plus ones, but I don't want to be rude. What should I do? |
Question: What is an average wedding gift? Posted: 14 Jan 2017 03:27 PM PST Looking for opinions on how much should be given as a wedding gift. Also, should the gift change if I were to bring a plus one? |
Question: My MOH just got back with her ex...do we need to invite him to the wedding? Posted: 14 Jan 2017 01:48 PM PST EDIT: Him and I have always had issues (he's very controlling, showed up to girls nights, was emotionally manipulative). They dated for a little over a year, she cheated on him, they broke up, and now they're back together. During the time they've been broken up I've openly explained to her that he is not welcome to our wedding, and I was relieved he wouldn't be there as he is the type to make a scene. We are only inviting people very close to us, and I don't want him there. Nor does my fiance. |
Question: What do you do if your bridesmaids are too heavy? Posted: 14 Jan 2017 12:32 PM PST I know this sounds horrible. I KNOW. However, I have 2 bridesmaids that are large girls. Every bridesmaid dress I have picked out and liked (talking on my 6th one now) they have told me don't carry their sizes. They will not tell me their sizes so I can try and just search for it before bringing all the bridesmaids into another failed dress. I am not looking at high end places that don't offer large sizes, I am looking at Davids Bridal and I even just started looking at generic maxi dresses! What would you do? |
Question: What kind of stuff do I need to buy for my friend mom to make my wedding dress? Posted: 14 Jan 2017 10:46 AM PST |
Posted: 14 Jan 2017 06:36 AM PST The Wedding is In Virginia Beach and the Groom is in the Navy. The only idea I have come up with was so far is Paintballing or Dave and Busters. I did not want to do a strip club or strippers, After the Paintballing or Dave and Busters I was thinking about going to Captain Georges the all you can eat seafood place and then coming back to the hotel for some drinks. If anyone else could help with any ideas that would be great. Thanks! |
Question: Do ushers stand at the alter? Posted: 14 Jan 2017 05:40 AM PST My FH is having 2 ushers and 3 groomsmen. Do the ushers go to the front and stand with the bridal party during the ceremony? We are getting married in a very small chapel. Trying to figure out logistics. |
Question: Is a witness needed to stand up with you at a wedding? Posted: 14 Jan 2017 05:39 AM PST Hi so I am getting married next year, I was wondering if you had to have someone stand up with you while your getting married. My fiance and I don't really have anyone close to have for groomsmen and bridesmaid so we are not going to be having anyone stand up there, but im unsure if you have to have someone stand up there or if someone who is at the wedding like a parent can witness it and sign afterwords (im from NY so I will only need one witness) |
Question: What do you think of people who spend thousands of dollars on a wedding and reception? Posted: 14 Jan 2017 01:47 AM PST Personally, I think it's none of my my business what people spend on their wedding and reception. I spent less then $1,000, and it turned out pretty nicely. |
