Question: Is it wrong for me to move in a shelter with my son? Where they want me to succeed ? Posted: 11 Jan 2017 02:03 PM PST Hello I am a single mom and I need advice. So I got into an argument with my dad he always says that he wants me out and hes tired of me and I understand because I am lazy and yeah I haven't worked I now found a decent job and I am planning on returning to school in February. I was lazy but i was going full time in school which is hard with a child hes 18 months. And my mom is the greatest she goes the extra mile for me and my son and I will be forever grateful for that. However its a mix feeling with her she calls me stupid worthless and emotionally not good for me. I found a shelter to live im going in today they have a daycare in there and have a decent room for me might not be perfect but its there and when they said i could move in i took it. Is it selfish for me ? To want to move out and get to know my son more? My mom threatens me that shes gonna take my child away from me. I am afraid she will. I am sad to be moving but it was a toxic relationship i had they ignored me never spoke to me espically my dad. My dad would pick his friends over me which hurts so much. And my son was happy to be in the shelter they made it loom nice. I was happy to see that. Now i can finally be happy with my son and get to know him even more.i set boundries with my family now which i am glad i did. But i am still think my son is gonna miss them. Which in a way i think i am selfish? |
Question: How to convince my mom I'm sick? Posted: 11 Jan 2017 02:00 PM PST Ok, I know you're gonna think "well this is your fault" but I know what I did was wrong, okay? I'm never gonna let this happen again. Ever. I have this huge social studies quiz tomorrow and haven't studied at all. If I can convince my mom I'm sick, I can get the weekend to study. I literally will fail this class if I fail this test. Please, please help me. |
Question: Shared custody - Child sick - what should the parents do? Posted: 11 Jan 2017 01:59 PM PST Let's assume the standard custody situation, where either mom has custody and dad gets EOWE/School holiday visitation -or- parents have shared custody but child's primary residence is with mom and dad's parenting time is EOWE/School Holidays. Child has own bed and bedroom at dad's house. Child is sick. It's time for dad to pick child up. What should the parents do? Is this different from what parents that you know actually do, usually, in this situation? FYI - this is just a survey-type question... My stepdaughter's all grown up now. I'm just involved in a conversation about this on another website. |
Question: My grandma died a week ago and I was invited to a party. Is it ok if I go? Posted: 11 Jan 2017 01:58 PM PST My grandma died a week ago and I was invited to a party next saturday. I feel ok, because I prepared myself for her death because she was already very sick. I feel ok, but is it morally screwed if I go to the party? |
Question: Fiance ripped my new car's leather driver's seat....Do I have a right to be mad? Posted: 11 Jan 2017 01:53 PM PST So we got a new car... YESTERDAY! Last night he took it for a little joy ride and he ripped the leather seat about 2 inches long because he had his knife in his back pocket. When I called him and asked if he had anything in his pocket he said yes his knife and I got pissed. He kept repeating it was an accident! Like that should absolve him of any guilt. I get more upset because he's not even mad at himself! This is not a first offense, I have a hard time keeping anything new because **** gets ruined constantly around here. Not to say I don't make my own mistakes but this car was not even a day old! It is not brand new but it's in perfect condition with the only cosmetic damage the plastic around the side view mirror broken off. Something he claimed the dealer MUST fix. Yet he's defending himself for the 2 inch gash in my perfect leather seats. Now if you were to ask if he'd be upset with me for the same thing? The answer is probably no. But I'd also be pissed at myself for doing something so careless. I want to know what other people's opinions are. His response to all this is that this isn't worth getting upset over so why would he be mad at himself? |
Question: How do we cope with his death? Posted: 11 Jan 2017 01:52 PM PST Our teammate Cory Randle died this week after a battle with cancer, I'm hurting because he was my boy and I'm sad he's gone. My teammate Tim is crushed cause they were close, the wake is Friday and the Funeral is Sunday after our game with the Seahawks. I honestly don't care about the game, we are all disheartened. We love him, what do we do? |
Question: What do I do about my mother? Posted: 11 Jan 2017 01:49 PM PST My mother often tells me pieces of information about other people. I consider that none of my business. She also tells other people about my life. I consider that none of their business. I also get the feeling my mother lives vicariously through me which puts pressure on me. Overall, she' affects me negatively. What to do? |
Question: How to Fake Sick, Need Good Ways!? Posted: 11 Jan 2017 01:44 PM PST Ok, I know, this isn't the most maturest thing to do, but I really need to know how to convince my mom to let me stay home sick! What are good, full-proof plans to let my mom let me stay home sick? |
Question: How to convince my parents to let me play drums? Posted: 11 Jan 2017 01:25 PM PST Hi guys! I am 14 and i have some problems with convincing my parents to let me play the drums. I am trying to convince them for almost 2 years but they still say no. They want me to be girly and like my 'normal' friends. The main reason they wont let me is because i am girl, they think drums are for boys.. The classes and drum sets aren't problem, i can pay for that, i have saved enough money, the only thing that is stopping me are my parents. Whenever i bring up something about drums they make fun of me, but i really have passion to play music instruments. Some tips? (also sorry if there are some mistakes, English is not my first language (: ) |

Posted: 11 Jan 2017 12:25 PM PST Today i was in bed & i had to get up for school my mom walked in in a bad mood turned on the lights and pulled the sheets off. She started screaming at me I waited for her to chill but i didnt realize it got worse She left the room i knew she was gonna bring me breakfast because she said that i had to get up after she brought it. I sat up & started eating when she brought it. Now, she knows that i always take the maximum 10minutes to get ready & we had more than enough time and there was nothing wrong with sleeping a little more She got pissed that i layed my head down for two seconds & threw the bag of cereal at meThe cereal was everywhere i had some crumbs in my ear the whole day. I was so suprised why she would do that, i was mad but didnt say anything but she came running at me so i pushed her because she looked really mad & started throwing punches. I started throwing some too because even when she was screaming i didnt say a word & tried to have patience. We were literally fist fighting that when we reached the end of the room fighting we walked out the door & into the sofa where she fell over the sofa. I didnt mean for that to happen |
Question: How do I get over the agony of having a dad that wants no relationship with me whatsoever? Posted: 11 Jan 2017 11:54 AM PST I tried to reach out several times eventually I got a letter back saying do not contact me again or I will have to file for restraining order. He said I wish you well but you will be a distraction on my marriage and I prefer to have nothing to do with you or your mother. In the words of my mother underlined. I am 20 in this hurt more than anything in the world. He didn't even write a letter he just wrote those two messages and stopped it was maybe one paragraph long. It's all me at age one last. None of his family is ever met me. I have had to give up obviously But that hasn't made the hurt go away. I even look like the guy when I looked him up on Facebook. That part makes me sick. |

Posted: 11 Jan 2017 11:26 AM PST An example (although farfetched and extreme) "Oh, it's okay that you are doing drugs sweetie, all teenagers do drugs and it's okay to experiment." So the teen keeps doing drugs because the parents said it was okay, even though the parent is against doing drugs and just wants to make their child feel better. And then one day, the teen gets arrested for selling drugs and goes to jail. All because the parents lied to their children about how it's okay to do drugs because they didn't want to make them upset. (yes this is an extreme example, but it happens in many other less extreme ways). |
Posted: 11 Jan 2017 11:25 AM PST I know my adopted parents count me the same as if I were biological but I worry that my grandparents and relatives on my mom's side might not. My brother recently revealed that my mom felt that her family was not counting me the same when I was born however my mom now says that was just her being sensitive. I am 15 and my biological siblings are 17 and 22. |
Question: Is it bad that I don't like my parents to hug or kiss me? Posted: 11 Jan 2017 11:10 AM PST Idk why. I just don't like it. I tell them this every time and then they just force me to, which makes me hate it even more. Then they try to make me kiss them back (on the cheek, not the mouth, they're not weird about kissing their kids, just annoying). I can hug my friends with no problem. But I just don't like them from my parents. And I hate being kissed. Then they're like "if you can't give or recieve affection fron your parents then there's a problem." Or some sh*t like that but like, you can show affection without making me feel uncomfortable. |
Posted: 11 Jan 2017 11:01 AM PST She will do good deeds but she gets critical of people don't fully reciprocate and therefore she and her son are not speaking. She also boasts of the good deeds that she does publicly like on her Facebook page. Lastly she does favorites among her kids the daughter that Praises her back is wonderful but the son that goes off with his dad a lot, her ex-husband, is terrible in her eyes. So is this narcissism? |

Question: Does my mother in law hate me? Posted: 11 Jan 2017 10:37 AM PST Ok so last time my husband and I had a fight(two days ago) he left alone to his moms house. Yesterday he wouldnt answer my phone calls or texts(we were still mad at each other) so I decided to send a message on fb to his mother. He then shortly after answered me and I told him what I did and he said that his moms sister just died and that I was giving her more problems. How should I have known this if he didn't even bother answering or contacting me at all. Point is my mother in law NEVER answered my message. Just left me on seen. Did he tell her things about me? Or why wouldnt she answer me? |
Question: Why most americans parents are so overprotective of their children? Posted: 11 Jan 2017 10:34 AM PST Well first to start I can't speak for the whole parents in USA how to they raise their children? But I seen people that are overprotective of their children (especially girls) I mean when there kid is 6 or 7? they dont let them cilmb on trees (that s one of a example) or when they get hurt they go rushing over to help them even if the injury all that bad :/ for example a kid stepping on a cactus (accidently) when I step on a cactus the only thing my mom did was remove the needels (sorry, don't know what is call what the cactus have) while the average parents in USA would probably take him to a doctor? Overall, what I'm trying to say is people are very protective of their kids. But who am I to tell them how to raise their kids? If they don't want to toughen them up their choice |
Question: Do you have a daughter who loves her father more than you her mother? Posted: 11 Jan 2017 10:11 AM PST Please don't tell me how wonderful it is for you, because that's not answering the question. Question: How can I stop feeling bad? Posted: 11 Jan 2017 08:31 AM PST Long story short I'm moving in with my dad. My mom says that she loves me and that if that's what I want to do, then she will allow it. But then once my dad has placement of me, she's going to give up her parental rights. She said that once she does that, I won't be able to see her ever again. Is this true? Will I never be able to see her ever again? She won't be able to go to my graduation, prom, or when I go off to college? Is there a way she could still see me, but no have to pay child support? I want to live with my dad, but I want to be able to see my mom. She won't talk to me so I can't ask her or talk to her about this. She won't allow me to take my phone to school so there's no way I can talk to my dad (Even though my dad pays for the phone). Today I took my phone to school but then she found out and texted me, "Did I tell you you could take your phone to school? I'm still your parent as of now." |

Question: How am I being selfish? Posted: 11 Jan 2017 08:25 AM PST for Christmas all i asked for was a laptop and a $100 gift card. my parents took our old laptop to get fixed for $40 and I got $70. My christmas didn't even total to the $200 I was supposed to get. My little brother (13) got over $1000 dollars worth of things and I didn't find out until after the fact, I felt like I could've asked for more but I brushed it off. My brother and I do online school, we've been moving and having technical problems so my brother had to use my laptop for a day to do his work until my mom got another one. Even though, I felt like that was ANOTHER thing he would be getting for Christmas, I still brushed it off. she went and got my dad's laptop but was still telling my brother to use my laptop. Of course I was very annoyed by this! The only thing ONLY thing I wanted was my own personal laptop and now it's really not even mine anymore so its kinda like I didn't even get anything at all for Christmas. She made me take the password off and now everyone's stuff will be downloaded and stored on "my" computer. I've been crying all day, because she called me selfish for wanting it back but I really don't think that's fair. The worst part is, I'm actually the good kid. I'm a straight A students, I do everything Im told when Im told to do it and he's pretty much the complete opposite. She's making it seem likeIm being unreasonable because he needs it for school but I really think I have the right to be a little irritated about this, actually a lot. I'm so tired |

Question: Should I punish my child for leaving wrappers/food everywhere? Posted: 11 Jan 2017 05:52 AM PST I broke my leg a few months ago, in two spots, and had major surgery. Since I am now back to work and also taking care of a 12 year old in a house alone, I have a hard time keeping up. When I come home from work, it means showering, doing homework and so on. One thing I did one day was place an empty coffee mug in the living room since my leg hurt so bad I couldn't get to the kitchen. My daughter now leaves piles of food in the living room in that same spot saying "Well, I was just tired" and so on. Posted: 11 Jan 2017 05:47 AM PST I don't care if one is 18 I want them both to leave together as all they have are each other and I never want to see them again. My son and daughter are 17 and 18. They refuse to walk 15 miles(as we have no public transportation in our town) to go look for jobs, they tell me no one in the right mind can walk 30 miles a day. I am 53. I have not drove them anywhere in a few years and I don't want to. They have no money as I have had them home schooled for 10 years. I am not buying them a bike, bike insurance, learners permit, drivers license or a car. I am not teaching them how to drive. Why are they so immature? Why won't they walk 15 miles to the town to find a job and 15 miles back home? |

Question: I made my sister cry ? Posted: 11 Jan 2017 04:20 AM PST Me and my sister was watching s scary show last night about Charlie Manson. She loves scary movies but she doesn't like it when they actually show the killing this one they did. I didn't know they would show it. She almost got sick when they showed the blood on there. I can't tell her it was just a show because it was based on a true story. She was so scared she kept looking out the window. She felt so bad for the people they didn't even do anything but the guy just came in and killed them. And the saddest part there was a kid in it. The kid never even had the chance to live. That made her really sad she was crying her heart out. She still don't understand why the guy killed them for no reason. I don't get it either I've been trying to figure that out for years I read the story it makes no sense to me. She was really afraid to go to sleep last night. I didn't know it would scare her. I feel really bad. How can I help her feel better ? She wants to know why did he kill the girl and her friends for no reason ? |
Question: Am I too old to be scolded by my parents? Posted: 11 Jan 2017 04:14 AM PST So the situation is this: I'm a 28 year old woman, turning 29 in March. I live with my elderly parents and younger autistic sister. We live in a city apartment, and we all do our share of the housework (cleaning, laundry, taking out rubbish, dishwashing, groceries, paying rent). I am unemployed and had been searching for jobs since I graduated high school over 10 years ago. I've been advised to apply online, but I have submitted resumes in person at stores. It's frustrating to be rejected, or not acknowledged at all, for my job applications. I have two university Diplomas and a few years worth of volunteering/ work experiences in office/ administration, so it makes me very cross that at my age, I should have a job but I'm not given the chance. So yeah, the point is because I can't get a job and have enough money to live independently, I am currently living with my parents for now. Tonight, my mum and dad - especially dad - SCOLDED me for not being responsible enough. They weren't attacking my face in a nasty way, but they were quite cross and cold with me, which nearly reduced me to tears and made me feel like a piece of ****. I told them not to treat me like a 10 year old, but then they got even angrier and it became worse. I don't know if they actually hate me? They fail to realise if I don't continue living with them, I have NO ONE to live with. No living grandparents, cousins, aunts, etc. We don't have a big family. |
Question: I dont know how to deal with my emotionally abusive mother? Posted: 11 Jan 2017 03:42 AM PST I'm sixteen right now, currently a sophmore in high school. I believe my mom has always been abusive. Back when i was younger, she used to hit me a lot for the smallest stuff and call me so many hurtful things in public or at home. Now she's just emotionally abusive now. For example, I was in the car with her once and i asked where are we going and she literally screamed at me that i should've stayed home and called me names like worthless, b*tch, etc. She always calls me names, tells me how my future so so hopeless. It leaves me feeling all depressed. Everytime she screams at me i start balling my eyes out, my mom calls me a coward, that I'm a crybaby. Also recently she lost her job that she had for a long time because she said racist word, and she got even worse. When she told me that i immediately knew that she's just gonna treat me worse. i try to do so many things for her like wash the dishes, feed the cats and clean around the house a little bit and it doesn't work. She always says that im so lazy and never do anything. It makes me so mad, i just listen to music to block her out or go to my room. Sometimes i would fake sick to stay from school because i have no motivation. But I'm making up for it to try to make my mom proud. Overall, i dont know how to deal with this, i cant see a doctor or psychologist because she knows what i'll tell them. I have no friends, except for my boyfriend who is at college right now. He talks to my mom sometimes but it works temporarily. |
Posted: 11 Jan 2017 02:51 AM PST I have a 20 year old friend who's unemployed for almost a month after being employed for 2 years in a different jobs. They're immigrated with her little brother, and her older siblings were left behind in her home country. Her older siblings are unmarried but they have children(they're unemployed). My friend told me that whenever she had a job, the parents treat her like their child kinda' like helpful for something like paying off the bills and stuff, and then now she's unemployed, she doesn't know why they treat her like useless, or lazy when she's suffering from depression. And she does chores as well such as laundry, cleaning, etc. Whenever my friend get paid, 3/4 of her paycheck goes to the parents for the expensive rent and other bills, the only thing left for her is to buy her monthly bus pass. Her mother was stable for everything to pay the bills but her mother kept sending more money to her older siblings and they even always argue about it why her older siblings can't get a job to help their mother a little while they're being petitioned. While her mother works 2 jobs(I know she's stressed out as well), and her father forced himself for an early retire and he doesn't want to get a job anymore. After she graduated high school, he forced her to get a job instead of going to college(I don't have the right to say this but, it's like he's passing his responsibilities as a father to his child). She quit her job almost a month ago & her mngr started being controlling & scolding her. The nxt day, her mngr showing attitude like banging stuff & pretended to act nice. She doesn't want to talk & yet the mngr kept forcing her to answer his question, & he still scolded her when she's still thinking for some answer(he didn't even gave her time to think). The mngr treated her like unhelpful for the job anymore for a week & she got scolded again without any reason when she's just doing her job. She came home crying & resigned the nxt day to find a better job but her parents doesn't seem to understand her feelings. |
Question: Brother on drugs(?), violent threats? Posted: 11 Jan 2017 02:38 AM PST Hi... my eldest brother is 28 or so yrs old. He's been doing drugs for a very long time. Went to a mental health facility for a bit like 2-3 years ago, came back home. I think he is also mentally ill but im not sure if its just the drugs. Maybe both. He stopped accepting help. Started making threats and invading and harrassing my aunts privacy. He got kicked out after a very long series of chances. Been homeless for two years. My mom invited him back for new years, and he ended up staying. Monday at 2am he went out yelling, my dad wwnt outside and my brother tried to attack him and called him a few obscenities. Got kicked out again. My mom invited him back again without telling my dad. Today he tried to fight my other brother, my dad went to interfere and i panicked. I dont want him to hurt my dad. He is physically sick and defenseless. He just got out of surgery today. Im really scared. I dont want to imagine what would happen if he fought my disabled dad. I dont want to lose him. We dont know what to do. My mom threatened to leave as well if we throw him out. We live in the hood (we are very poor) and it's not safe. If I called 911 would they take my brother to get psychiatric help again? I live in California. I know that kicking my brother out would be so harsh, and really scary for him, but if it comes down to the homelessness of him or the safety and well being of my sick dad and my other brother and myself, i choose the latter. |
