I am at school most the time and after i normally hang out with friends. Even though i am always busy the days just seem to long. What can i do to make the days feel shorter? |
Question: Should I "break up" with my best friend? Posted: 16 Jan 2017 08:38 PM PST She always talks crap about my art, dislikes anything that I suggest to her (anime, manga, hairstyles etc...) She's INCREDIBLY irresponsible, unproductive and lazy, and always fights with her younger brothers. She thinks she's Picasso when it comes to art, even though her art is kind of bad, and thinks she is 100x better than me at drawing, even though she's worse. She's rude to me half the time, and always seems to ditch me to hang out with my other friend at school. She has an attitude, and seems to think everyone around her is annoying. When I ask her if she wants to be my partner for a group assignment, she'll immediately ask my other friend before answering me. Is she even a good friend? Should I try and make different, better friends? |
Question: Why do people I run into who I haven't seen in a while promise to contact me but don't? Posted: 16 Jan 2017 08:27 PM PST Hello everyone. I run into some acquaintances once in a while who I haven't spoken to for more than few months or even years. When I see them we're both all happy to see each other. At the end of our conversation most of them ask for my number, promising me that they'll contact me. None ever did which confuses me. Do people ask for the person's contact just to be polite? Or could it be something wrong with me? I don't act awkward and I'm genuinely happy to see them. |
Question: Should I become her friend even though some may laugh at me? Posted: 16 Jan 2017 08:14 PM PST I've been acquaintances with a schoolmate for a long time. We're not "close friends," though; still, we occasionally text each other, and I have her number. She is amiable and affectionate towards me-- lightly squeezes my face, touches my hair, compliments that I'm cute, and etc. When I oppose her by stating that I'm obviously very ugly, she furiously insists, "No, you're not! Don't say that! You know you're cute," which definitely flatters me. Whenever I encounter her on campus, she becomes all excited, shouts my name, and waves at me, even when others are around. I stay quiet and try to walk away quickly, but she still attempts to get my attention. Although she's friendly and supportive, I don't want to be associated with her because we're completely different in terms of personality. She mostly hangs out with the rowdy, popular students while I'm very meek, insecure, and extremely studious. I guess you can describe me as a typical nerd; my classmates know me as the "quiet smart girl who never talks in class." One time, a student mentioned how I told them something, and my teacher asked, "What, [my name] said actual words?" Yep. Just think how shocked they would be if they knew I'm friends with her, especially since the teachers are annoyed by how lazy and disruptive she is in class, out of all the students. |
Question: Why do kids/teens shows emphasize too much on friendship? Posted: 16 Jan 2017 08:09 PM PST Like say somebody was thinking about transferring schools of geniuses(character's dream school) and they at a regular ed school with maybe a few geniuses. It focuses on them leaving friends and then in the end giving up they dream of what they always wanted to be with friends. I feel today's shows don't emphasize enough on how cutthroat people in this world can be today and how to capitalize on opportunities and still try to make what they had work. Say I moved and transferred from a school in New Jersey to Montana. I'd get numbers, skypes, fb's, etc and there you go. I just feels they try to teach lessons which is good but it's not realistic. Last I was told, capitalize on opps when they're given. |
Question: My anxiety goes away whenever I see my best friend? Posted: 16 Jan 2017 08:08 PM PST So I'm 16 years old. Last year my family and I moved homes and school ( An hour away) Pretty far, but close enough to still visit. So I have anxiety and became emotionaly numbed because a lot of things that i couldn't accept happened. I always feel anxious and unsettled even after a year, i dont have any good friends in my school. I only talk to this one girl but i dont consider her a friend. I feel lost and unable to act upon my thoughts, I overthink so much about everything. I feel like i became a paralyzed person ._. not sure what I'm doing with my life, it all feels like an empty dream. I dont manage my time well enough. Most of the day i just procastinate or go on my phone, and don't enjoy anyone's company anymore. I dont know how to , however everytime i visit my best friend I start to feel in peace in my mind and just happy or more joyful again. Scientific explanation why this person brightens me up? Any tips? What can I do to make real friends in my school or how could I stop feeling very lost? |

Question: My friend is mad at me? Posted: 16 Jan 2017 07:52 PM PST Me and my friend started a singing account on Instagram which was HER idea, and she asked me to join. I said yes, and we each posted a few videos. Hers got no comments, and mine got 40. She texted me and said she was a terrible singer and shes quitting. She changed her name out of the username, and deleted all her posts. She told me I could do it by myself, and when i told her she was actually amazing and she shouldn't quit and i asked her if she was absolutely sure about quitting, she said "get away from me. This is all your fault. You really hurt me". But i didn't make those comments! I don't understand how this was my fault. I offered to take down my posts as well, and she wont talk to me. I just want her to feel good about herself. What should i say to her? I don't know how to respond to this. I have school tomorrow, and i know she wont talk to me. But we have every class together, and she is already having a hard time with her camp friends. I feel really bad, but i don't know how to talk about this with her because i dont' feel like i was my fault, and she is very grudge-holding and when shes mad she wont talk to you. |

Question: What is a nice way to tell someone my hours of availability have changed? Posted: 16 Jan 2017 07:34 PM PST I babysit for a friend of my sister s. The friend, L, is the single mother of a ten month old and three year old. I watch the kids Monday through Friday about twelve hours a day plus one weekend a month. My sister needs me to watch her three year old on Mondays and Fridays. She doesn t want me to watch her kid and L s kids at the same time. My sister and L don t hang out much anymore. My sister feels L only calls when she needs something. I don t want to tell L the real reason because for one I could handle watching all three of them and I think my sister is being goofy. What is a nice but firm way to explain this to L to make sure she puts in the effort to find someone to watch the kids Mondays and Fridays? |

Question: Are my friend and I ready to become friends again, if so how? Posted: 16 Jan 2017 06:30 PM PST My friend (lets call her Jane) and I went through a really rough time 3 months ago where she blamed me for her depression and then later ended up in a mental facility for suicidal theoropy, before that when she was extremly deppresed, I would say something happy and she would make it extremly negative. The first time she went to the facility, when she got back another friend (call her alice) and I helped her a ton by doing things like painting and changing her room, she loved it! Then she started getting really competitive with me for no reason. I didn't respond and just kept going as normal. Then one day in class Alice and I were wanting to go on a hike and asked her if she wanted to go. She said nah and we said okay the Alice said I guess we aren't cool enough for you, in a very sarcastic voice and we both laughed and we joke like that all the time and it nothing new Jane knows it. Then she said I am so done and burst out of the room and the teacher knew what had been going on and she was quiet so noone in the class noticed. She later told some of our other friends that we made fun of her for crying in her room. Then she went back to the facility for the last time. When she got out she realized what she did and apologized and I forgave her but Alice and I needed sometime to free ourselfs from her control. She respected that and seems she is getting back to her old self. I really miss her! Should I be friends with her again? If so how? |
