Question: New Year's Eve dilemma? Posted: 23 Dec 2015 10:16 PM PST Hi I'm looking for some advice. My fiancé and I were invited to a party held by a friend of mine on NYE. My fiancé does not want to go. He is not too social and goes to sleep early. Part of me does want to have a fun night out, but I also feel like ringing in the new year with my significant other. I thought maybe we could go to the party for a little, but I don't think he's going to want to, as per his reaction. I'm kinda stuck. I think my gut says to be with my fiancé, but I'm also pulled towards being with friends. I'm also a bit superstitious that it's bad luck to be away from my fiancé on NYE and also thinking I may regret going without him. Any thoughts? |
Question: If my wedding ceremony is at 12 noon, what time should the reception start? Posted: 23 Dec 2015 08:58 PM PST I am getting married next October. Our wedding ceremony is at 12 noon at a church. The church location is about 35-40 minutes away from the reception venue. What time would be appropriate for the reception to start? I'm not sure what is too much or too little time in between the ceremony and reception. Suggestions would be much appreciated! |

Question: My daughter has been cut from her dads wedding? Posted: 23 Dec 2015 03:07 AM PST My ex and I broke up when our daughter was a baby because he cheated on me. I was able to put it behind us so we could co-parent and get along for the sake of our daughter. So far it's worked out incredibly well. He became serious with his fiancée two years ago. Her and my daughter had a rocky start because my daughter wanted us to be together like her best friends parents. But after a few months, things got better and she started to really like this woman. So when they got engaged, she insisted that my daughter should be her junior bridesmaid, My ex wanted her to be a best person, but he agreed to let her be a junior bridesmaid. They went shopping and chose a dress. Things were going perfectly. Then one day my daughter came back from her dads very upset. I got an email from my ex's fiancée the next day saying she'd decided she didn't want my daughter to be in the wedding and her dress had gone back to the store. I contacted my ex and he told me he hadn't been home when the decision was made, but it was his fiancée's decision. He said his fiancée also doesn't want her to be a best person for her dad now and so she'll only be a guest. My daughter is heartbroken still. It's been a couple of weeks and he's only seen her for a few hours since it all. She doesn't want to go to the wedding anymore. My ex said he knew and there was no pressure for her to be there anymore. She's only 8! I can't believe they'd do this. Advice? I was thinking of booking some time away for the two of us. It's obvious she isn't even wanted at the wedding itself, so hopefully it would help keep her mind off things. They both know how much this has all hurt her. I think that's part of the reason my ex hasn't taken her for the weekend since. Thank you for all the great advice so far. I don't badmouth them in front of her. I do my best to keep her mind off things, but she is still sad and I think it's made worse by him not even coming to see her now. I got the confirmation email that they no longer want her at the wedding at all. I honestly have no idea why. I asked and he said it was no longer a priority for them to include her. She seemed so nice and he's always been a great dad before all this. I never thought they'd be the type of people to do this. And what makes things worse is she had my daughter with her when she brought the dress back. She wanted her to watch. |
