She is constantly telling her that she is worthless and that she can't do anything right. She will scream at her and call her all of these horrible things. She treats Ann's 12y/o bro like the favorite child. Ann's dad is physically disabled and is in the hospital a lot so he can't work so her mom is her family's only source of income. Ann's has been telling me about these instances more frequently lately what should I do? |

Both of my parents dropped out of high school, none of them are very intellectual, they drink every night, and what concerns me the most is that they don't encourage ambition in the academic work in our family, we are 4 kids and I am the oldest, aging 20 in a couple of months. My brother (18 years old) and I are somewhat academic nerds, we love to study, we finished high school math before we even started high school and now both of us will be going to the same university studying to get a phd in physics. Here is my problem: My mum is religious, so she is exerting her religious beliefs on my sisters, frankly I don't think religion is a constructive way of teaching children the philosophy of the universe, but everytime I interfere with their parenting, they get so mad and say that everything is not about knowing what a + b is... What should I do? I am from Sweden so my English might not be perfect... Academic world* not work... |

Yesterday my sister and the three children was involved in a really bad car accident. In result, the little girl (her boyfriends niece) having to get stitches on her forehead. My sister is saying without a doubt they all had their seatbelt on but the mom believes otherwise. My sister has contacted our family attorney and is working with him, the mom of the child has contacted one to represent her as well. While my sister is out to get the men that hit her, the mother of the child seems to be out to get my sister saying it's her fault because her daughter couldn't possibly have been in a seatbelt. Is this possible? How could they prove that to be true? Should we be worried? Thanks for your advice! Whether good or bad. |

ALL THE TIME! And what really breaks my heart is watching my mother suffer everyday i see her crying and my little brother (he's 6) just stands in the middle of a fight between my parents it breaks my heart and i just keep on acting strong infront of my mother bcuz i dont want her to worry too much <\3 We tried everything, we took his alcohol away , took his wallet, mobile, car keys so he wouldnt bring alcohol to our home.. He keeps on screaming and yelling and cursing ...... And i told him that if any thing happens to my mother it will be all bcuz of you and i will never forgive you. The problem is , we are going tomorrow to germany and i am really scared that he woud go to the airport drunk and get in trouble cuz right now..he is drunk!! She is 12, and I'm 14, she's going into the 7th grade and I'm going to be a freshman. I usually ignore her at all costs, but her dad and my dad set up random times to put us together without telling us. Like she came out on my boat while I was with my best friend a few weeks ago. Since then, she's been texting me almost every day and calls her dad to call mine to yell at me when I don't answer. My mom says I don't have to but my dad thinks I should be nice to her. In 8th grade I got a really cheap chromebook for school. Last year my dad (Who gets angry really easily) smashed my computer because he thinks I play on it too much In 9th grade I got almost all 6/7 in my report card. Even my parents admit this is a good grade and I do spend lots of my time on my phone, on the computer etc, I also do other other things such as soccer and going to town with my friends. A computer would also really help me do my schoolwork and help me edit a video Im going to film for a school project. Ive found a site that can get a fairly cheap computer since my parents dont like to spend lots of money. My mom doesn't really buy much for me so Im really counting on my dad, but he is really old fashioned and thinks computers dont help with schoolwork and he gets angry really easily so I dont want to say anything wrong. He also doesnt like spending money. Right now my parents are trying to get me to bring a really old, heavy dell computer to school. But this would be a VERY BAD idea. The enter key is broken on it, and I need to bring a big bulky keyboard just to type on it and the battery is so bad I need to bring a charger with it everywhere just to turn it on. Not to mention I would definitely get picked on at school. What can I do? Please help The computers there don't work and the school even encourages us to bring our own computers, next year it will be compulsory to bring your own computers I have a phone and an old computer I use at home btw. |

And one being "ZERO TOLERENCE" I've been here a week, and I want to "better my self" by working and startin college in the spring. My dad doesn't want me to work. He'd rather support me through college. But I won't be able to start until 6 months. And I won't be able to do anything until then. So why not work so I can have my own income, buy my own stuff, save for a car and some college. My dad disagrees. When I told him, he sarcastically said "good for you" and asked me "why you don't listen to a thing I say? I have zero TOLERENCE ". He also didn't approve of me hanging with my friends for the weekend, which I went even though he didn't want me too cause I'm gonna start working and won't have much time. I thought a lot about wether I was goin to go with my friends or not. On too of that she needs everyone to do something for her. She ask someone to do for her more then she does for herself even if she's able to. She acts as if she can't do anything by herself. She'll literally pick you up in her mothers car cook you food just so you can come help her clean her house when she invited truly over.shes always asking for money to drink, she always needs a ride or a favor and it's really draining and when you finally say no after the 1,001 times you've said yeah she'll throw a big fit as if none of the other things mattered that you've done. She just acts as if she has no independence and can't do anything without the help of someone else. I have my own life and family that in trying to establish and work on in tired of doing all these things for her and when I don't want to for once or can't she makes me feel guilty. She watches my daughter 2 mornings out the week while I work on weekends so I feel like I have to do her some favor but once I do one thing everything else falls in line to. Posted: 09 Aug 2015 10:49 AM PDT So just now, I got in trouble because I hadn't fully cleaned my secondary room, meaning that there were extra blankets on it that my mom put on there earlier and I was supposed to put somewhere else, but nevermind that, I am not allowed to do my homework that is very important and due very soon, because my mom wants me to clean the house with her. The thing is, there are nails on the floor every where because she started this renovation project herself that is no where close to done, she painted less then half my room, so now there is paper tarp covering all of my normal room, (I havent been able to sleep in there for months) and aside from that, yesterday, she started paint her fricken room!! basically "screw your room, lets start another room and paint it" which is at least 3x dirtier than my rooms, she took apart computer and rearranged your second room, which forced me to sleep in her room for two days.... anyway, I didnt even hint at how bad it can get compared to this. Half the time she yells at me because I did something wrong...AGAIN, and if I really make her mad, then it gets really bad. ANy way, are there any tips you have for me? i dunno...to make it better? oh, and apologies mean nothing! I mean, absolutely nothing! She actually today willingly admited that she hated me, and it wasn't always like this, it started at the start of summer, and before that, it was like a 3 month burst october to December, and here and there at the start of the year. | Posted: 09 Aug 2015 10:28 AM PDT ok so he argued with me then he spalshed cola all over my eyes and then I said what the **** is the matter to you He then said 'How dare you ******* swear in my ******* house you ******* *****' (They are Bengali) So then he tried to strangle my throat and I quickly had no choice but to bite his arm Then he was twisting my arm and then i kicked his fat *** belly Then he said you will not ******* stay ******* on my ******* house (The argument started because me and my sister were annoying my brother, but he cries all the time, he's 5) And then we were going to go to lake Garda in Italy and that's been cancelled. My dads out to get me, he abuses everyone he even promised to cut my budgies (birds) and sell them for money. He has abhsed my mum and brother and sister (she's 12) but they are too afraid to say anything and I'm so scared that he might hit us even more. My mum said that she wants to go to Bangladesh with my brother because me and my sister are making him mental. Me and my sister and trapped in our rooms with our pet budgies as well. I'm so terrified and I feel like I have no one to talk to about this. He's so god damn mean! |

I came home with a sunday from mcdonalds to give to him since I owed him and had earplugs in my ear so i couldn't hear anything.I went to his room and saw him working on her.I screamed a little bit and closed the door.I told him that I wouldn't tell mom or dad and asked if he used protection he said yeah but now everything is awkward and uncomfortable kind of.I want everyhting to be like what it use to be how can we fix this? |
| Question: Why do I have to babysit so often? Posted: 09 Aug 2015 10:20 AM PDT My mom and stepdad had two babies recently (me and my sister are from my mom's previous relationship). I love them very much but I have a problem. I feel as if I watch them more then a kid should be expected to. Obviously when my parents are at work I know I have to watch them, they need to work to provide for us. That is not the problem. The problem is whenever one comes home from work they do nothing to relieve me and my sister of babysitting. My stepdad either falls asleep on the couch while were watching them, or disappears into his room. My mom, well she says hi, she might yell at me and my sister for some stupid small thing, and then she too disappears. Call me crazy but that doesn't seem right to me. My whole family sees this happen all the time but they don't feel it is their place to say anything. Also we have this weird little schedule for summer vacation. Each morning either me or my sister is woken up at anywhere from 6:30-8:00am to watch the babies while my mom takes a bath for hours or sleeps in the back room for 6 hours until she has to work. That seems extremely unfair to me. Its not like she works from 8pm to 4am she works 4-8 then comes home and yells at us if both babies are not sleeping yet. I feed them, cook/make their meals, change diapers, clean after them, play with them, bathe them, and dress them. Why do I feel like a parent when Im only 17? |

My brother was used to be extreme psychical abusive where he would hit us to a point, we would be bleeding from our heads and he still wouldn't stop the torture. This one day things for worst and I called the police. Police took him for a day and later released him. My mother and my sister was on order of protection where he couldn't be any where close to them. I That order of protection last 6 months. After 6-months, my mother got emotional and got him back in the house. He was good for 6 months or so. Then he started showing his colors again, he just got a little more smarter now. This time he would verbally abuse us, say everything possible he could to make us feel like ****. He would throw everything all over the place, food all over the walls and the roof. He would slaps us and hit us in a way that it wouldn't bleed. He would throw things at us but not to hit us but to scare us. My home is turning into hell once again, again we started spending days outside of home. My 19 years old sister, got admitted in psychiatric facility three times because of extreme stress in the house. She will soon be released again but I am extremely worried how will she ever be able to recover with this environment? I feel that if nothing is done about this, soon my mother and I will be in psychiatric facility too. I heard you cannot call police for this as it is not physical torture yet. I cannot afford to move out, and even if I move out he will come after us. |

Posted: 09 Aug 2015 10:12 AM PDT Due to a painful and unpleasant childhood that I have mostly chosen to forget, I have never really accepted or viewed my mother as my mother. I refuse to be claimed as her child and at recently turned 21 in my 4th year of university, have taken to claiming to be an orphan (never met father BTW). When I am with her I don't call her by any name and haven't done so in at least 10 years. When we worked at the same store over the summer (she's too uneducated & lazy to have a real career),coworkers recognized us as related and would say to me,"Your mom...." to which I reply, "Don't say that to me ever again. She's no mother of mine!" I pretend I don't know her. I just cannot bring myself to claim her. When we argued recently over a certificate baring my newborn footprints which I tore up yrs ago along with several baby pics as a rageful confused teen without her knowing until then I snapped, "Those footprints were mine and seeing as you sure as Hëall ain't ever been any type of mother,they were NOT yours' to have! You don't have a child! You're a failure! Understand?" |

Posted: 09 Aug 2015 10:09 AM PDT First let me start off by saying that I have to ask for permission to even take a bath or shower, if not I get called inconsiderate and disrespectful (small house, one bathroom). So when I am allowed to bathe this is what I hear, "take a shower and make it quick, 10 minutes or less". What frustrates me is that my mom is allowed to take a bath for anywhere from 45 minutes to two and a half hours. In which case nobody better rush her. Also to add, while she's bathing I have to babysit the babies. (my brother and sister). When ever my mom has problems she comes to me and tells me. I sit, listen and try to make her feel better. When I have a problem (especially if it is about how I watch the babies too much) she doesn't want to hear it. This is what I hear, "I don't have to justify why or when I make you watch them, we're not equal, I am the adult, your opinion doesn't matter". To which I reply, calmly, "Well that isn't fair." Her reply: Life isn't fair. They make me lie to my family about how much I watch the babies. They tell me to say "You help out once in awhile" which is far from the truth. They've told me many times, "What happens in this house stays in this house, they don't need to know how our family works" Trying to hide something much? They make me lie to make them sound better and me seem like I do nothing. Yet they taught me never to lie. |

My mom's sister and her husband came over for summer break. My mom's sister is 60 years old and her husband is 86 years old. My mom's sister is a manipulative woman, always trying to be nice to people to get them to do the things she wants. She tries it with my mom like telling her to get an apple for her or cook for her, and my mom gets mad and tells her to do it herself. Even worse, she doesn't clean for ****. She sometimes doesn't bother to flush the toilet, wash ANY dishes, or clean anything if she makes a mess. If she can't get my mom or her husband to clean up after herself, she tells me to do it. It really pisses me off. I'm a 15 year old girl, so she thinks that if she's nice to me, she can get me to do things for her. My mom says to just be nice because I'm younger, and because of that i have to do everything that she tells me. Literally, all she does is sit on her butt, and tell people what to do all day. She is not disabled! She is fully capable to do everything herself! How do I tell her I don't like her treating me like a dog, and that I don't like her without saying anything? Oh and btw, they are staying for the next 10 days. :( |

I don't know how to appease them, I slept for a whole 8 hours with my situationship two nights ago and he was still worried about me sleeping only 4 the next day and I ate a cheeseburger for the first time in five months for my roommates so they would leave me alone about eating and I ate A double salad in front of my situationship and they are all still bugging me about it. Posted: 09 Aug 2015 09:21 AM PDT I m 15 years old and my sister turned 4 this year (my parents were around my age when they had me and my twin brother, that s why there s such a huge age gap). We are really close, I always look after her and she looks up to me which is so cute. She s always been scared of water and she won t go in the bath alone, so she always asks me to go in with her when it s bath time. Some people think it s weird, but I don t think it s any different to being in a hot tub or a swimming pool together. We both wear swimming costumes, but I ve already had to change her diapers and help her get dressed before so it s not really weird even if I did see her naked. All that happens is we listen to music and she splashes around in the bubbles while I do her hair and make sure she s clean. Do you think it s weird? Some people do, some people don t. I understand why some people think it s weird but nothing inappropriate happens so I don t think it s weird at all. I am female by the way! I have a fraternal twin brother. |

I'm so homesick and it didn't start till I left camp. I want to go home so badly I can't stop crying and I slept here but it didn't get better. i know my dad would take me home if I asked but I don't want to be ungrateful because I know not everyone gets to go on vacations and I really do appreciate everything my family put into this trip. but I don't think I can last the week like this PLEASE HELP what do I do?! |

I wasn't homesick at all. in fact I didn't even want to leave. but then my dad came and picked me up and we went straight from camp to where the rest of my family was staying in Michigan, about 90 minutes from home but in the other direction as camp. I really want to go home im so homesick and im really trying like I stayed the night but it didn't get better and I miss home and I don't think I can last 6 more days like this.
