We were separated for 4 months.. no arguing, no ugly breakup. It hurt but it was what it was. We were together for 5 years and as hard as I tried, I did notice him losing interest and enthusiasm. He made it ugly. He rebounded with a girl who consistently had ill intentions for our relationship, talked badly about his mom, tried stirring up drama and constantly inserting herself into our personal life. She's been in love with him since.. forever and blatantly tells people that she hates me. Even though I've never actually had a conversation with her once in my life. His mom was upset about how he handled the break up and the girl ended up contacting his mom and told her to mind her own business. Which is flat out disrespectful because his mom is nothing but a complete sweetheart and I have so much respect for her as a mother. They ended up breaking things off because I guess he told her that he still had feelings for me. And she went psycho. She ended up messaging me this extremely nasty text. Me and him ended up blocking her. We had a good relationship and I was willing to try again. I'm making some changes, yet he doesn't want to change anything.. let alone provide any reassurance. We lived with his mom for 3 of those years (we live on our own now). The first 2 years my boyfriend didn't have a job or a car and I've always encouraged him to get one. When he would he would never last more than a few months. I always was supportive but once we had our son and moved out he did the same thing. We had bills and responsibilities now I got tired of him making those choices. His mom knows how he is and always took my side while living with her. For some odd reason, this last time that we got in a fight over him not working we considered breaking up. She started texting him saying to just leave me, pack his stuff and get out while I'm asleep and to not ever call me again. She said all I want is money and I'm a money hungry b****, he should just go back to her house and he can find someone humble like him. She went on and said that I'll be happy with someone else. Anyways, my boyfriend and I solved our problem but she never apologized to me for saying those awful things. She said sorry to my BFF for saying them but never to me personally . It's been a year and we haven't spoken. I let her talk to my son because that's his grandma, I can't take him away from her. But she's coming over for Christmas and is brining me a gift. I feel uncomfortable accepting it. It may be her way of apologizing but knowing her, it'll be used against me later on. I don't wanna be rude and not accept it tho. Thoughts? I meant boyfriend, not BFF He's had the same job for a year now so he's changed, thankfully. |

Posted: 18 Nov 2019 06:57 PM PST this guy was in a "long term toxic relationship" when i met him and he was immediately smitten w me and dumped his girlfriend. we started seeing each other and he's great for the most part but after a few weeks he would purposely act disinterested because he "liked making me mad" and wanted to "keep me on my toes". he says things like "i like making you feel out of control" and most recently he BLOCKED me from all of his social media for a WEEK. i assumed he was done with me since he wouldn't respond to my texts later but a week after he re-added me and reached out as if nothing happened, saying he simply "doesn't use social media". i know this is majorly toxic, has anyone else experienced something similar? why is he playing these games?! |

I called her out on this but she apologized, wanted to be friends again, but then she continues to cycle between sending me a flurry of messages, then getting distant when I reach out to her back... Is this intentional behavior or is she really just that much of a flake?? I can't tell if its ever worth reaching out again because we used to be good friends at first. Any thoughts? |

I wound up asking her out last week. We're going out for the first time on Friday. The thing is, the closer we get to each other, the more I realize I'm not ready to be in a relationship. My last relationship ending badly is only a small part of it. (Even though I'm over my ex, I'm now terrified of being emotionally vulnerable.) There's a lot of stress in my life right now, much of it just in the last few days. My little cousin was diagnosed with stage IV cancer. My family's business is closing. My sister's best friend is going through a crisis and my sister's depression is really bad. (Her best friend is in an abusive living situation and is at risk of suicide. My whole family's currently trying to get a safe place for her.) There's also just some mounting personal stress. Job, school, health. This girl I'm going out with is amazing. And she's very open about how much she likes me. I like her too, but I'm realizing that I can't be in a relationship right now. I am emotionally exhausted. It's not like I consider a relationship a burden, but it requires dedication and time and I feel spread really thin right now. The girl has said before that she'd be happy to be friends if things don't work out with us romantically. But I feel guilty about asking her out before I was ready. How and when do I communicate this stuff to her? Would it be inappropriate to tell her at the end of our first date? |
