Question: I think my best friend has a drinking problem. How can I help him? Posted: 19 Nov 2019 03:42 PM PST I've noticed for a while now that he drinks an extreme amount of beers a day. The weird part is that he doesn't behave like a drunk but when I started suspecting I counted how much he drinks (I see him almost every day), and wow I was used to always seeing a beer in his hand but once I counted it's like at least 14 a day maybe more. Now he doesn't chug them but he does constantly drink and now that I look back he has shown signs of alcoholism; he got hospitalized once after his eyes turned yellow following a medication, I've seen him drink in the morning, and sometimes he's left the movie theater to "go to the bathroom" and comes back 20 minutes later smelling like alcohol. How can I help him? |
Question: Should I attend the funeral? Posted: 19 Nov 2019 02:26 PM PST My best friend's boyfriend's little brother just passed away very unexpectedly, he was only 33 years old. My best friend asked me to attend the funeral in support of her boyfriend. I only met the deceased once and I have never met the family. I also don't like my friend's boyfriend but I am civil and polite since their relationship is none of my business. My heart goes out to the family during this difficult time but I also don't think I should need to attend this funeral since this is not related to me at all. How do I delicately decline without upsetting my best friend and without sounding like a horrible person? |
Question: My best friend has bulimia and I don’t know what to do? Posted: 19 Nov 2019 02:16 PM PST I'm in eight grade for context. My best friends and I are a group of four, there's me, my best friend "carry," and my two other best friends named "nia" and "Isabel." I used fake names btw. Anyways, a few weeks ago, Nia told Isabel that she made herself throw up in the bathroom and she had been doing it for years. Isabel is very sensitive, and she couldn't handle the pressure, so she told Carry and I. We decided to tell the guidance counselor, since everything we've learned in health pointed us in that direction. So Nia got really mad when she found out we snitched and literally didn't talk to us for like 3-4 days. It was really frustrating. But that's not the point, since she is sort of getting help. The point is that Nia is holding a grudge against us and still thinks we did the wrong thing. She always says stuff like "I feel like I don't know you anymore." And "you guys betrayed me and I'm just supposed to get over it?" It really hurts my feelings and makes me feel awful. I don't know what to do and how to rebuild the friendship we used to have. What should I do to gain back her trust and learn how to forgive myself for snitching on her? |
Posted: 19 Nov 2019 01:29 PM PST I sit alone at lunch and try my best to not tear up because everyone has friends and I m just invisible, I feel so different and feel like I have something wrong with me since everyone else seems to make friends. Sometimes, I think it s because I m boring or it s my appearance. I hate going to each class and going from school to home because they all walk with each other home and I am just walking alone. All the friends I make leave me the next day, they just say hi and smile like they just feel pity for me. They never actually say, " Lets walk home together " or " You want to come with me to my house? " It s like they run away from me, and I don t want to seem desperate enough to say something like " Why aren t you talking to me? I thought you were my friend?? " I don t want to chase after kids because I m that desperate. I just want a friend I feel like I broke the world record of being quiet when I m school. |
Question: Why do some women NOT knock on a bathroom door but instead just open it?!? Posted: 19 Nov 2019 01:24 PM PST Okay, I'm so disturbed by this and curious what you all think. When in a bathroom why is it that some women don't knock, but instead just try to open and go in when the light is clearly on and the door shut. Do they NOT expect someone to be on the potty and not expect to be embarassed? Does the person no knocking think they won't be embarrassed. Ugh! So frustrating. How hard is it to be courteous and KNOCK ON A BATHROOM DOOR. Besides this, I absolutely hate when people peek through bathroom stalls to see if someone is in there. Just look under the door! why peek and embarass someone. double ugh. Do you have any of these experiences and what have you done about it? |
Question: Should I cancel the surprise party and book a weekend getaway alone with my boyfriend? Posted: 19 Nov 2019 12:58 PM PST Long story short... - Have been planning a surprise party for my boyfriend that will be at an Airbnb with his friends for his birthday weekend. - One of his friends has been helping me by contacting and finding out from my bf's friends who can go. - We established a small guest list, I found the Airbnb, and he told other friends - Last night he was finding out from the other friends when they could get me the money (I'm booking the Airbnb, and it's going on my CC, will be charged half now half in Dec. And if not paid immediately, it'll accumulate interest) - Bf's birthday is in January, due to it being so close to holidays one couple already dropped out So, now I'm wondering if I should not even try, and just book a place for him and I for the weekend? I found THE PERFECT place, and I think he would LOVE it. It's got a pool and a hot tub and I would love to book it for him and I. I think he would just adore it. I just have this feeling that due to it being so close to the holidays all his friends will say they'll go and bail. The friend helping me - his girlfriend - even asked me when we had a chance to get together recently how much per person (roughly $125-$150) and mentioned it was close to the holidays. So clearly, it's not something everyone is overly into idea wise. I feel like I should just talk to his friend and mention the concern and say I feel like it would be better if I tool him out. Him and I. Any ideas or advice? |

Question: Would this get these girls to stop bothering me? Posted: 19 Nov 2019 11:38 AM PST I am a guy college student that is always short of cash. The only job I could find to fit my hours was at a legal brothel. I maintain their computer system. At first if anyone asked I would tell them what I did. No more. I tell anyone that ask about what I do that it is just a job I do on nights and weekends that pays my way for college. Several women have written letters to the student newspaper claiming I am exploiting women by working at a LEGAL brothel. I make about $15 per hour. The girls at the brothel make 1/2 million a year. Who is being exploited here? If I could find a job that pays more and has flexible hours I would take it but I can't. I am sorely tempted to tell the girls that complain about my job in the student newspaper that their boyfriends are one of the brothel's best customers. I wonder if that would get them off my back. |
Question: Do you think this was sexual harassment by our boss? Posted: 19 Nov 2019 10:40 AM PST I work for a small department of a large company. There are 11 other women in our department. I really enjoy my job mostly because of our great boss and great co workers. Our boss sees that we are well paid and well trained. He is good friend of all of use. We love to joke around with him and he loves for us to do it. One day at a staff meeting Carol said "Boss, the next person you hire someone, make it a great looking young guy that likes older women". He said "I will keep your suggestion in mine the next time I hire a new employee". "You want me to change my previous qualification for only hiring beautiful women with a D cup or larger"? We all had a HUGE laugh at that. We were still laughing in the employee lounge when people from other departments told us we were subject to sexual harassment. If we were bring it on. We want MORE of it. Do you thing we were subject to sexual harassment? |

Question: Did someone at my previous job spread rumors about me? Posted: 19 Nov 2019 05:53 AM PST I just got into a verbal confrontation with a one of my childhood neighbors. He claimed that I got him kicked out of my job. Please note the following: I used to do parking lot security at a pool hall. My job was to stand post outside and make sure all the customers arrived and departed in an orderly fashion, basically keep the parking lot running smoothly. One night, my childhood neighbor who I haven't seen since we were teenagers, walked up to the entrance where I was stationed. We greeted each other and reminisced about the good times on our block. Then he went inside to play pool. Later that night, he came back outside with a distraught "WTF? I didn't do anything" face, and said that he was banned from the pool hall for giving beer to some underaged customers. I didn't know what else to say to him, since I was outside the entire time and didn't see what was going on. So we said our goodbyes as he left the pool hall in disappointment. About three years later, I saw him stationed by his job, bulldozer, while I was running an errand for my job. He told me that I got him kicked out of the pool hall, and that if I ever see him again, keep on walking, because we're not cool anymore. He totally lost me there, because I wasn't even inside the pool hall. And I surely didn't bad-mouth him to my boss. All that happened was that he came out the pool hall and said he was banned for giving alcohol to minors. So how am I the bad guy here??? |
Question: Does this mean he will buy me something? Posted: 19 Nov 2019 04:28 AM PST Ive asked new BF if we can exchange gifts this Christmas. He asked what I would like....which I said jewelry....and then he asked does it have to be expensive. I told him to decide and he said "let's see on Christmas". What does this mean? And is he cheap? I see that he buys cheap things for himself. |
Question: Why does he accuse me? Posted: 19 Nov 2019 12:57 AM PST I have a friend, we are opposite genders, and like the same gender, (girls). But he always accuses me of liking him when he knows and sorta teases me about being a lesbian. I asked him why and he said that he just does it because I'm always awkward when asking questions (I get awkward because he can be sarcastic af and teases me). But I feel as if that answer isn't enough. And he only accuses me like this, *I try to ask a question but struggle* "do I like you?" *he thought that was the question* "no." *question problemo again* "just say -his name- I like you, then, Bam!" Yeah... you get the idea. |
Question: Why is my close old friend cold to me? ? Posted: 18 Nov 2019 09:36 PM PST My family move quite often, and I was lucky enough to have spent 2 years of my high school life in Singapore. While living there, I made a group of close friends and one really really close friend, whom I felt a strong connection to. This relationship felt unique from others, almost as if we were lovers, but we were friends. However after leaving Singapore I slowly lost contact with everyone and didn't talk much to anyone afterwards for around 3 or 4 years. Recently I have learned that I might move back to Singapore for work and wanted to catch up with these old friends. I messaged almost everyone I knew but was mainly excited to chat with the one close friend I had. Everyone I messaged replied with a lot of enthusiasm and I could tell they were interested in what I have to say, also asking me about my life. However, the one friend who I was most excited to message and is the closest to replied with very short cold messages, like they didn't care at all and just wanted the conversation to end ASAP. I have also noticed that they would never like my posts on social media, but views my story. We never had any sort of fights, we just stopped contacting each other naturally. I have decided to drop this friendship because they're just not worth my time but I do feel a sense of regret and sadness that I have lost someone who was once truly special and important to me. What do everyone think might have happened to cause this, please share your thoughts and personal experiences! |
Question: How do I announce that I have decided to remain celibate for life? Posted: 18 Nov 2019 09:19 PM PST I've decided that I wish to be alone for the rest of my life. It will be a lonely path to walk. It is the path I have chosen though. |
Question: Is he a bad friend or am I just sensitive? Posted: 18 Nov 2019 07:48 PM PST One of my online friends who I am super close with always disappears on me while we're texting. Like we could be in the middle of a convo he'll just leave and come back hours later with a dumb excuse about where he went. But I know he's lying and just didn't want to be texting. But other times he seems into the conversation and likes talking to me. But if I ghost him for a few days or weeks he doesn't even care or try asking me where i've been or what happened. Is he a bad friend or am I just taking it too personally? I'm a girl by the way and he's just a guy friend. |
