Question: Would it be too far to prank my sister-in-law back at her wedding? Posted: 30 Sep 2016 08:15 PM PDT Me and one of my little brothers were engaged around the same time and our wedding are only 2 months apart. My sister-in-law decided it would be funny to get dressed up in full bridal attire for MY wedding last month. She looked gorgeous and made me feel like **** because her parents paid for her dress and it cost more than almost my entire wedding. She continued to act like it was her wedding including starting to walk down the aisle when Here Comes the Bride played. So another of my brothers agreed it would be funny if he stood up at the alter and acted like the groom except he would be wearing a Speedo and a tuxedo top with the tails. It would be a quick gag and he would leave before the ceremony formally started just for a few laughs and pictures. My mom heard about it and got upset saying, my sister-in-laws prank was funny but my brothers idea was in poor taste. Because her family was paying for a lavish affair and I would soil HER big day. But apparently because me and my husband chose to keep it small SO WE CAN BUY OUR FIRST HOME, my wedding meant NOTHING! |
Question: Why do some brides not want other people getting married around the same time as them? Posted: 30 Sep 2016 01:05 PM PDT I don't mean the same day. I mean within the same few months. |
Question: Reception favor ideas for a day wedding? Posted: 30 Sep 2016 12:40 PM PDT I've seen late night wedding favors be the morning paper and a bagel and orange juice. I think it's great to tie your favors into something useful for your guests in the moment or for the next day. I'm having a day wedding in Chicago. Any themes that would be practical, useful? I'm thinking about assembling subway cards and putting them in nice packaging for those who want to venture into the city for the night or something farm themed for those who want to go sight seeing in rural Illinois the day after our wedding. Any ideas ? |
Question: What does "classy casual" mean on a wedding invitation? Posted: 30 Sep 2016 10:30 AM PDT I was invited to a wedding, more as my boyfriends date than anything as its one of his girl friends getting married... On the invitation it says classy casual, what am I supposed to wear? I dont want to show up in jeans and a tank top, but I also dont want to show up in a fancy dress. My boyfriend is in the wedding, so he will be in a tux. Help? |
Question: I don't have much money to give for a wedding. Any other options? Posted: 30 Sep 2016 09:42 AM PDT My friends wedding is tonight and I'm stuck on how much money should I give her. The invitation clearly says monetary gifts only.... I am a bridesmaid and spent $80 on the dress. I also spent $50 on her bridal shower gift. She is a very sweet friend of mine but I am unemployed college student and cannot afford to put in more money in this wedding. Her wedding is going to be low cost at church hall so it's not like the food is ambiance is super fancy. Any ideas of what to give or how much? They clearly stated they want money but I need alternatives!! My budget is extremely tight. My fiancé is also invited as my guest. I am not going to make him put money in either |
Question: Wedding Dress Shopping. Am I overreacting? Posted: 30 Sep 2016 09:34 AM PDT I went wedding dress shopping w/ my sister this morning. She had to bring some work w/ her (she warned me in advance). She was sitting on a bench doing work while a girl at the shop was helping me fit/try on dresses, then my sister was giving comments. All fine. In settings where it makes sense, I'm not very modest around other women, so I was in my fitting stall in just in a pair of panties as the assistant helped me in and out of dresses & brought me new ones. At one point she comes back, knows I'm more or less nude in the fitting room, and pulls the curtain all the way back without warning as she tries to show me a dress we hadn't talked about that she thought I might like. I turn toward the curtain wondering what's happening as it opens, and the ENTIRE shop (including 1 guy!) gets a quick flash of me full on nudie (only panties). I shrieked, the girl saw my reaction, & tried to stand with the dress blocking view, but 1) the damage was done 2) some people could still see. I tugged the curtain closed, got dressed, & demanded to see her manager. She told me the manager wasn't there but gave me a number and time she would be & I more or less stormed out in a huff. Not screaming or anything but really annoyed. I was embarrassed, humiliated, and felt tiny. My sister says I'm totally overreacting and that I'd be a total b--- to complain to the manager or try to get the girl in trouble. But I feel her actions were VERY inappropriate and demeaning. What do people think? Bentley--I did not have a bra on because most wedding dresses have built in bras. The attendent DID know that because she'd just been in the fitting room with me being topless for like 15 minutes, and left to go get a dress for me to put on and came back. One of the other shoppers tried to talk me out of reporting because she says she knows the owner is "very" tough and will most likely fire the girl. I don't really "want" that but I'm not sure if I should let that change my decision either. If it warrants reporting it warrants reporting, what the boss does with it is really her decision not mine. That said, knowing that about the boss, I don't want to report it if it doesnt warrant reporting G--- the employee kept saying "you didnt mind being topless around me so I thought you didn't care". I kept asking how being with her while she helped in a private space was the same as the entire store, and she just kept saying "it really isn't. I just didn't think. I see topless customers all the time and it becomes so normal that I didn't think" She may be telling the truth, but this still feels very inapropriate. But that said you may be right maybe i should move on. Whats done is done For one other point of context, I'd also very nicely/subtly already pointed it out to her once when she left a crack in the fitting room curtain. So I would have thought she'd have gotten the hint. Plus, she presumably helps women every day, I cant imagine most are ok with being shown off to the whole shop. Kelly---I'm sure it was an accident too, but a pretty careless one. If she deals with this every day, shouldn't she be more aware/careful? Isn't it really inapropraite that she'd flash me to the entire store, including a guy? |
Question: I'm 16 and engaged and my parents hate my fiancee. What should I do? Posted: 30 Sep 2016 07:52 AM PDT So me and my fiancee have been together for a couple years. I love him a lot. We met in a hospital and my parents hate him. They think because he lives in a group home (his mom died and dad was abusive) that he can't have a future and I'm giving up my life. They are also extremely religious and concerned about sexual behavior. They recently found out about the engagement, and me and my fiancee don't know how to get them to understand. please help |
Question: How much money should I give as a gift for a wedding? Posted: 30 Sep 2016 07:37 AM PDT I am a bridesmaid for a friend of mine. The wedding she is having is at a church hall and it is free because the church donated food and everything else for the couple. So it is not an expensive wedding but she is a sweet friend of mine. I am an unemployed college student so I am on a very tight budget. My fiancé is also coming with me so how much is appropriate to give? |
