about 3 weeks ago my sister's friend's mother followed my sister home throwing all these accusations at her saying she called her daughter a ***** and beat her up (her daughter looked fine, no bruises no scratches) but her daughter was very well known for lying to get other people in trouble when she was in fault, and my sister knows that kind of language at her age is not appropriate and I'm certain she never said any of those words. Her mother followed her home on her bike and when my sister came through the door she was obviously scared and told me if the doorbell rang not to open it. This woman pounded on the door so many times I had to open it to tell her to leave and she pushed her way into my house and basically screamed and spat in my face, I ended up having my sister call the police and get her out of my house, but for the past three weeks this woman has been waiting after school for my sister to get on the bus as she gives her a mean glare and mutters profanity under her breath, she then waits at her bus stop to do the same thing, she also drives back and forth on our street daily, this has gone on every day. should I call the police and get a restraining order against her? my parents are currently away on a two month trip in Europe and since my sister does not have a passport I was asked to stay at the house and watch her.

I'm currently a sophomore in high school. Last year, as a freshman, I had really good grades. I took all of the highest courses available (all honors and AP) but my unweighted GPA was still a 4.1 on the 4.0 scale, and my weighted was around a 4.3 or 4.4. Sophomore year started 4 weeks ago and there are already a bunch of grades in. My parents are pissed because my grades are lower than last year. I currently have B's and low A's instead of all A's like last year. I'm taking all of the available AP courses again so I'm under a lot of pressure. My dad thinks I need to do more, so he keeps on piling up assignments from other sources to do, and he doesn't let me sleep until I finish everything he assigns along with my homework. I've been going to bed at somewhere between 2:00 and 3:00 every night (this is actually true, not exaggerating at all). My mom keeps shaking her head and acting like a disappointment. They both keep fighting because they blame each other for me not doing well. Last week I tried to kill myself by hanging myself with a towel. My dad found me unconscious (the towel gave away last second but I still lost enough air to get knocked out), and he yelled at me for several hours. I feel so alone and don't know who to talk to. My friends think I'm exaggerating because they can't believe that my parents would be upset with my grades.

I'm one of three children, I live at home with my parents (I know) I had moved out with my friends for school and a couple years after and now I'm back home. So for example my dad, I let em know my work schedule for the week ahead of time. So let's say I get out at 10pm. At 10:20pm, I'm receiving a text, WHERE ARE YOU? IT'S 1020, YOU SHOULD BE HOME BY NOW, IT TAKES 20MINS TO GET TO YOUR JOB, IT'S NIGHTTIME IT SHOULD TAKE YOU EVEN LESS TIME. WHY AREN'T YOU RESPONDING? YOU KNOW WHAT I'M GOING TO GO SEE IF YOUR REALLY WORKING. I've told him numerous times that I can't just leave paperwork, I have to finish and do what's necessary aka my job. So im pretty sure my dad hates me. He was in prison for the first 10 years of my life and my mother would send him commissary money, constantly support him and do all of that stuff. Well i am now 18 and he has been home for 8 years. He always calls me names like fat and ugly. It brings me down alot and makes me hate myself. He never gives me allowance when i do chores. My son is 23, lives at home, and likes to move very quickly..Problem is, he s not consistent. He went away to a good college, came home before he graduated, because he suffered from anxiety. Now he s finishing up his degree (electives) at a local school. I m ok with that, but here s the problem...He refuses to get a "normal" job, where the paycheck is steady. He s never had a steady job, but rather worked on and off for his dad at our business. They don t really see eye to eye, so they argue a lot. His dad still gives him part time work. It s not enough to cover his car payment, and phone bill. So I got him a job at a local school (which really is more up his alley with the major he has). At first he agreed to go with it, but now, after all the paperwork he had to complete for the job, he s decided to do "labor" type of work. Okay, fine...BUT, he s not experienced, and it s NOT steady money..He s chasing it...I ve had to loan him money for his car already (I know, I shouldn t have)...so I suggested to him that he take the school position, and do the other "labor job" on weekends and school holidays...He wont listen and does what he wants. He doesn t contribute to the household expenses, and I know he should...but he s always broke!! How involved do I get? He is in our house..

My mother moved to another state to a new job leaving behind my grandmother, her husband and I. No other family around. My grandma comes to me and says that my step father and I are having an affair. I told my mom about this and although she knows it's not true she didn't confront my grandma. Her husband doesn't know about her accusations because my mother doesn't want to hurt him. It's been a year and I have not spoken to my grandma since the accusations. My mother has moved back since and we all live in the same apartment complex building. I feel like this is putting a strain on my mothers relationship and I. She told me today that if I act like that towards my grandmother, she is scared as to how I will act when (my mother) gets older. She has told me on various occasions that she wants to run away and leave us behind. I already have abandonment issues from my father that was never there. I have no other family besides my mom (and grandmother whom I don't talk to) so her telling me completely breaks my heart. My step father thinks that I don't talk to my grandmother just because she is rude and emotionally abusive (which she is) and my mom and him think that I need to accept her as how she is because she is family. He doesn't even know the real reason. I want to tell him the truth but I don't because I know that my mom will be mad at me if I tell him. Should I forgive my grandmother and move on so that we can all be a "happy" family? UPDATE: Reasons that my grandmother has- She walked into my apartment one morning and said that my house smelled like my step fathers dog so he must have stayed the night there with his dog. His dog has never stepped foot into my house. EVER. Another reason is because she says that my 3 year old toddler told her. A 3 year old will say whatever. My mom is stressing me out to the point where I don't even know what to do anymore. I still live at home at 21, go to school full time, and work part time. My life, in my opinion, is miserable with the way my mother has been treating it. She's controlled my entire life basically, never letting me drive, get a job until I was 20, and not letting me have a true life outside my home. Don't get me wrong, I love my mom, I truly do. But she constantly puts her blame on my family and I. She goes to school and works, and gets upset because she can't find the time to get her homework done or the house is too dirty for her liking. Screams, yells, guilt trips, etc. Of course now she is trying to control my life even more. I see my fiancee once a week (he drives up to my city 45 minutes a way just to see me for the day) and we work with what we have for the moment. Well now she wants to move it down to every other weekend day, and it's destroying me and him, all we do is fight when things change with her. That on top of all her screaming and stress, I want to leave home, but I have five siblings I help with as well. But do I risk leaving and not seeing my family? Or do I risk staying with her and losing my relationship and my self? I don't know what to do anymore. I want a healthy balance of both, but every time I bring up what I think is fair and not, it's like opening the gates of ****. I need some true advice.

Seems to go against the idea of family being a community of loving people who care for each other and are willing to go to bat for each other when you instead have a family of relatives who are always trying to take ownership of certain individuals by speaking their mind and giving advice or issuing threats and getting mad when the person doesn't do what the other person wanted in the way he or she did (when it wasn't even that person's choice to make). Like if you have older cousins who are bullies or parents who yell at the child or teen in an attempt to control them (or if they are an adult threaten to kick them out but not teach them basic life skills like how to manage money or even communication skills in how to ask for what you need or want since every conversation was just an interrogation to get the child to please the parent rather than let the child develop at his or her own pace and have his/her own life). Really sad how some families are. It just reeks of betrayal and abandonment. =(

I just found this out this weekend as my mother, like her mother before her, plans holidays ridiculously early. We will be going to her brother's for Thanksgiving and it will be her brother and his wife and all of his wife's family. I am happy to see her brother and his wife (they have two kids) but his wife's family is huge and we only know her parents and the nephew her parents raise (his wife's sister died). So I feel weird because my mother won't go to where her parents and siblings are so I feel weird and she won't travel to see my Dad's family who live about 5 hours away. I am 15 so have to go with my parents and siblings. I feel like an orphan and ashamed we are not going where my Mom's parents and other siblings are. There is a feud in my mother's family and my mother and her brother are siding against the family. My Mom said she will take me by to see her family around Christmas (I fear I won't be able to see my cousins if their not home at Christmas as there is no party at Christmas). I asked my parents if I can get a ride with my grandparents to their party instead but they said no and they said no to letting me travel to see my Dad's family also (not sure if they have a get together since our grandmother died in August). So how can I handle this, I feel embarrassed that we are not going and bad that I am part of the one group not going in my mother's family.

When I was around my neice's(17) and nephew's(19) age 38 years ago, I could afford my own house working a minimum wage job. I worked close to 75 hours a week, my neice and nephew refuse to work 75 hours a week, which is very lazy. They told me they make $360 a week only working 30 hours a week. That is very lazy, that is not enough to live on and they are very much too old to still live at home. They can't even get a condo! Nephew claims they both have really bad credit from when he had to go to the ER emergency. And no one will sign him and his sister. Why are they so lazy? My little sister is really afraid of the dark. She has a nightlight I keep the hallway light on she's still scared. She leaves her tv on which helps a little. She wasn't afraid for a while but we have this new channel called Destination America they tell ghost stories and show scary stuff on there. She can't stop watching she's addicted to it. There's this commercial they show on there every week for a show it has a boy sleeping in his room with a shadow of a ghost going across his room then they show the ghost in the corner of his room watching him. Alright.. I'm 16. I live in West Virginia. According to state law, running away as a minor in WV results in a status offense... I know leaving home at this age isn't the best option.. I've struggled with depression for years, but none of my family gives a sh*t. They all act as if I'm a psychopath. My stepmother hates my guts.. She and dad have been together 5 years and have a 2 year old daughter. My stepmother the past 5 years has made my father completely hate me. He's threatened to make me leave several times before, over her mostly. He told me a while back that he can't wait til I'm 18 so he doesn't have to be around me.. It really hurts. My full little sister is 13, and she sides with my stepmother.. All 3 of them gang up on me.. I've never given my dad any problems... He treats me so bad after sexually abusing me 2 years ago. The verbal abuse on top of him acting like none of that ever happened just kills me. I'm an emotional wreck... I told my stepmom what happened. She didn't care.. Figures. I haven't seen my mother since I was 8. Dad has full custody.. I dont even know where she is. She's a pillhead. I feel hopeless and depressed every day. I just have to get out of here. If I go leaving a note (I know it sounds terrible to do) that blackmails, and they don't call the police, will nothing be done?

My mom is stressing me out to the point where I don't even know what to do anymore. I still live at home at 21, go to school full time, and work part time. My life, in my opinion, is miserable with the way my mother has been treating it. She's controlled my entire life basically, never letting me drive, get a job until I was 20, and not letting me have a true life outside my home. Don't get me wrong, I love my mom, I truly do. But she constantly puts her blame on my family and I. She goes to school and works, and gets upset because she can't find the time to get her homework done or the house is too dirty for her liking. Screams, yells, guilt trips, etc. Of course now she is trying to control my life even more. I see my fiancee once a week (he drives up to my city 45 minutes a way just to see me for the day) and we work with what we have for the moment. Well now she wants to move it down to every other weekend day, and it's destroying me and him, all we do is fight when things change with her. That on top of all her screaming and stress, I want to leave home, but I have five siblings I help with as well. But do I risk leaving and not seeing my family? Or do I risk staying with her and losing my relationship and my self? I don't know what to do anymore. I want a healthy balance of both, but every time I bring up what I think is fair and not, it's like opening the gates of ****. I need some true advice.

My Mother calls me "demonic", "stupid", tells me when I grow up I'm going to be messed up and other things. I have never had a birthday or celebrated holidays. I only have one friend, because my parents said they have to be in my religion. Yesterday, my Mother was trying to hit me with a belt because she said I was being disrespectful for saying "Okay Mom". I grabbed her wrist and stepped back so she wouldn't hit me and she choked me against the wall. My Father said he can't do anything because he hasn't seen it. My cousin raped/molested me a few years ago. She was 12-13 I was 11. It stopped a year later. I am also bisexual, and my parents said if anyone in their house is gay, they will be kicked out. I have suicidal issues, and I am trying not to cut. I want to be safe and happy. Please help and answer.

I have caught him cheating and lying and he claims he is choosing to not see me because he can't trust me. He said I snooped through his phone, which I did to catch him in a lie. Then he said for all he knows I've been through his pockets and wallets, which I haven't. All of that happened a month ago. Someone recently vandalized his car and he is blaming it on me. When I asked him if he wanted me to not contact him anymore he wouldn't respond. He responded to all of my questions after that but not that one. Why not just tell me to stop contacting him if he doesn't want to see me anymore or is this some game he's playing?

I'm 17 years old, a girl and my mom is quite possibly a psychopath. She threatens me with knives, screams at the top of her lungs for no reason, strangles me, beats me, etc. we live in an apartment and the land lord threatened that if the noise doesn't stop, we're out. I don't want to end up homeless because my mom said if we're evicted she's not renting another place and we're living on the streets. This morning she barged into my room, grabbed me by the hair, and screamed right in my face to get up, while slapping me. I try so hard to de escalate situations and calm things down but she is never having it; she refuses to have a normal conversation and try to work things out. I don't want this relationship with my mother. I don't have a dad. My older brother moved out. I'm alone with her for at least 16 hours a day. Today after I got up and was completely ready, my mom came up to me for no reason with a bucket of water and dumped it on my head. I just sat there crying because she did that 5 minutes before I had to leave. I'm just sitting here soaked, I missed my bus, my mom left for work, and I'm just tired, tired of my situation, tired of my life, everything. I want to do better for myself but sometimes I feel it's impossible with her.

Question: How to balance work and 18 online credits while living at home with parents that have no idea how difficult it is. I only get an hour..?

I've been seeing two crazy women for the past 6 months. I like them both but they found out about each other about 4 months ago and it's been crazy ever since. Lisa, has gotten mad and thrown a drink on me on two separate occasions. She has shown up where me and Jessica were on a date and started a fight with me. She punched me in the face and stayed outside stalking us until we left. Then on another occasion Lisa saw me hanging out with friends and got mad because I didn't want to be with her that night. She tried to run me off the road then she cut up some shirts I left at her place and threw them across my front gate. They've both gone threw my phone and gotten each others phone numbers. Then they started calling and texting each other telling each one whenever I was with the other. Lisa started sending Jessica a call log of every time I called her. Last week I stood up Jessica to go be Lisa. Jessica send me a dozen really angry text message and then when I left Lisa's house in the morning all of the tires where slashed on the car. Jessica insist that she didn't do it that maybe Lisa did it she's always been violent. I was with Lisa at the time so I don't know when she could've done it unless she had someone else do it. Jessica claims Lisa is trying to turn me against her. For now I'm refusing to see either of them because I don't trust them. Who should I trust? They've both snooped through my things and now my car is damaged.

My neice(17) and nephew(19), they need to shape up in my honest opinion. They have been working the same job since they were 15 and 17, so they get paid somewhat higher than new workers. They get $12 an hour, but they are very lazy as they only work 30 hours a week. They refuse to go to college, because as they say "We don't want to be in debt." And "it is too expensive." When I was close to their ages 35+ years ago, I owned my own home, I went to college to become a dentist at 17 I became a dentist at 21/22. Why are my neice and nephew so lazy? They're also too old to live at home, I moved out at 17 1/2 with my friend that was 18 at the time, we could afford our own house back then.

So my 16 year old brother has always had straight A's been in football and just been the favorite child. He has now held down a job since he turned 16 almost a year ago now actually, and recently bought a Pontiac he has payments on that and his car insurance went up. So he has been working from the second he gets out of school until midnight every day barely making enough to pay for it while his grades have drastically suffered. He really wants to keep this car and my dad is basically making sure he does but my father also says he needs to cut back work hours to fix his grades. Any ideas on how to help him or at least reduce his stress levels?
