He goes to school in the day to be an X-ray machine operator, and last night we were working the same shift. It was raining hard and I asked if he needed a ride home because he takes the bus and would have to stand in the rain to catch it. WHen we got to his place I had to use the bathroom. I was really surprised by the place and I don't know why. His furniture was beat up and his TV stand was an old display rack we had that he jimmy rigged shelves to. He didn't have a bed just an inflatable mattress in the corner of his bedroom (I had to go thru his bedroom to get to the bathroom). Oh yeah and there was this medal thing in the corner I don't know what it was for but looked like a metal accordion and he had all his work shirts and a couple pair of pants on it. I asked him if he didn't have a closet and he said he did but they were drying there because it cost $2 and for every load he air dries that lunch on campus. I feel really bad for him. I live with my parents and they aren't rich but they do okay. My dad is a cop and my mom is a sales rep. But I don't know what I can do for him. I can't very well just say "Jesus, dude you're broke. You want $20?" Any way I can help him out that won't make him lose face? I'm going to give him a ride home every time we work together, but that seems like something so... puny.... |

Most employees know my name, but the ones who don't call me "the girl who is awkward/quiet". I HATE that. I feel embarrassed about it. And it hurts knowing that that's the truth even when I try to deny it. I suffer from severe social anxiety and that won't ever change about me. Even in school I was known for being quiet. Even when I try talking and feel like I'm not shy people still say I am. I feel terrible. Any advice? |

This happens a couple times a week, and I felt bad this time around, so I offered to get him a little treat or something to repay him bc I felt that he thought I was just using him since he responded with "wow" when I asked him for answers today. However, he responded with "i want water" which i knew he was being sarcastic, so I replied back with an annoyed emoji.. and he responded by saying "i don't want anything from somebody" and i was like "then you should've just told me" and he apologized...Another instance of this is when he snapchats me asking how i've been etc. and I reply sometimes with a "good hbu" (ive stopped since he doesnt respond back when I ask back OUT OF NICENESS..) and he doesn't respond?! I don't want him to get the impression that I like him or anything of that sort cause I'm just being nice?!!? Why do you guys think he doesn't accept my kindness? I'm just trying to be a good friend and he's just making it difficult and weird... Am i too nice for my own good?! |

So in that regard I never ever really tried to get a girlfriend and just stayed to myself. Of course many girls I came into contact with who were flirty were just bullying me. Truth. I'm still into girls 18-20 something. I've seen this one girl in the gym when I first switched clubs. She is always training with her friend. They are eye candy for sure. Every guy in the gym would talk to her and she be surrounded by sharks lol. Noticed the one girl very innocently and maybe even got caught. Therefore, I usually keep my distance. One day I was stretching and she all giggly asked me if I left a water bottle by the machine. It was obvious it was hers. I just shook my head and continued to stretch. Moments later I went to get some water at the fountain and she was standing behind me waiting for her turn. I simply walked past her like she wasn't born. The next day I'm walking thinkinto the building and she walking to her car. I can feel a strange invisible sense of awkwardness. In the corner of my eye I could tell she looked annoyed. Why? It's been a couple years and I stil see her in there time to time. She was sitting doing arm curls and I walk by to go to a station. What's wrong with just reaching out to strangers on the internet? At least with the anonymity if you don't like someone's response you can just ignore it and wait for something more positive. I already know what my friends and family are gonna say so why bother reaching out for them? If I did commit suicide they would regard me as a pussy(at least th art show what I think, I'm not sure). |

Whenever I talk she just nods her head and looks away.I sat by her at lunch and she ignored me. Her name is Miranda. Today we needed partners, and she was standing in front of me, I thought oh no I don't have any friends, so I told her that we could be partners, but she looked and looked away at all the people asking to be partners with her. So I got stuck with the weird kid. Also today at break at the playground, I sat at a bench by myself for a long time and watched her hang out with everybody. Finally I decided to go hang out with her since she glanced at me. I walked over there and she just kept on talking to her friend, and wouldn't look at me. Neither did her friend.So she asked her friend if she wanted to go somewhere else and then left. So I was all alone looking like a loser while everybody else was starring. So this girl asks me to walk to her locker with her and I started to everyday. But then she waves over to Miranda and I am stuck walking behind them getting smacked by a backpack trying to keep up.Whenever I go to the side, Miranda turns her back to me and so does the other girl. I do not like her because: She bailed on me She is annoying She is rude Anyway I made the mistake of glancing over at her, and she got up and started walking toward us. So me and my friend continued talking while she just stood there. We stopped and looked at each other, and suggested going to a different part of the playground. We took off running, Carmella following. Just for a couple seconds since she couldn't keep up. So she turned around and just stood by herself. Were we being jerks? This is my 4th week in college and I still have no friends in college yet, but I am talking to a few people. I am taking a Computer Science course where we have to learn some coding. On the first day of the course, the fronts seats filled up quickly and I ended up in the very back seat. There is a guy sitting next to me in the back and he sometimes asks me for help and he says a few words with me. One time, I went to the TA during his office hour to get a better grade on my homework assignment and the guy sitting next to me did the same thing. We were talking to each other a bit. We don't do group work in this course, so it is slightly harder to communicate around with people than my Freshman Seminar class, but people in this class can seem talkative at times. For all my classes, it varies on how easy it is to talk to people. In my Calculus class which is 30 people, everyone is so quiet and it is impossible to make friends in that class. By the way, I looked up the guy on Facebook and Twitter to see what he is like. The good thing is he lives in New Jersey 42 minutes east of my town, so that means if him and I become friends, we could always hangout halfway. He is actually an upperclassman but he is taking this course, since he transferred from a college in South Carolina. How long does it take to make friends in college? I am concerned, because I had no friends in high school and I still have no friends at all, even in and out of college. |

I didn t say anything at the time, I walked away and went back to my friends, I don t blame my friend because it wasn t her but i am no longer allowed contact with her as her mum forced her to delete all social media and took her SIM card. This mum then proceeded to message my mum on Facebook. She is making claims that she has photos of me (which definitely isn't true) and that she has seen me be racist and that i have the foulest mouth she's ever heard, that I tease disabled kids at school and that I bully her daughter (even though she's my best friend). And my mum believes her! I'm a teenage girl and she's honestly making up so much stuff. I have nothing other than my word for my mum, but she's saying she's disappointed and everything. My friends mum showed my mum a video in which i was cussing, but it was one time. Im no angel but I'm definitely not evil. What do I do?! |

Posted: 29 Sep 2016 03:28 PM PDT I'm currently a sophomore in high school, and I have had more-or-less the same group of friends since the beginning of middle school. However, this year two of my friends became separate to my school friends, although they remain in my outside of school circle. Because of this I have been left with my four remaining 'in-school' friends, which is the source of my discontent. The friends that remain in my group are all very quiet and dull. I am a fairly loud person with a good sense of humour, so, needless to say, this has been making me miserable. In addition to this I go to parties frequently with out of school friends, whilst my in-school friends barely leave their houses once a month, which means we don't have a lot to talk about, and when we do talk the conversations lack intellectual stimulation and good humour. I have other friends within our grade, but I am unsure whether or not I should transition to another group. In my school we have a gap-year in between sophomore and junior years to participate in work experience, attend seminars, etc., and our class groups are mixed up during that year which would give me the opportunity to make new friends. I am very discontented in my current group of friends, but I'm hesitant to distance myself from them at this late stage and I am wondering if I should just hold out for another year until we're mixed up in our class groups. I became friends with her in year 9, and she seemed ok and friendly. In year 10, I was yelled at rather unfairly by a teacher (the blind girl was in class that day), and I got very upset. I sat down at my desk and talked to the blind person about how the teacher's treatment made me feel. The blind girl was doing her work, didn't look up or listen, but just ignored me, like she was standing up for the teacher. In year 12, I lost a lot of weight and became skinny for the first time in my life. I was so happy that I lost weight and that people won't pick on me for being overweight anymore so I carelessly boasted about it. The blind girl, who was overweight, used to get upset when I brought it up, and would yell/ holler at me to "stop it". Now she used to YELL at me in a very aggressive way. Once she took her anger out on me by complaining that people with disabilities don't have enough job opportunities. Some friend. Also once I talked about how I don't have any family because most of them passed away before I was born. The blind girl just looked me with a frozen smile and said: "then I'm lucky because I have a big family. I actually have two families" then walked away, smiling. In recent years, I sent her a friend request on FB. She ignored it altogether, despite still being active on FB.. I know it's immoral to hurt a disabled person, but I reckon she needed a slap in the face. |

And i feel like for everything i say they re like "how are you going to be a lawyer if you can t even communicate?" Or "how are you going to be a lawyer if you don t even know what to wear to a rave?" Or "how are you going to be a lawyer if you...?" Etc (I m a law student) at first i d just take it as banter, but now it s getting to the point where it s starting to affect my own faith in my ability to become a successful lawyer. One of the guys in the groups is constantly calling me a slag too and telling everyone about my sex life. At first i d just take it as a joke but it s really hurting my feelings now. They sometimes just call me annoying and whenever i ask questions in the group chat, they always go ignored. I know this is probably just "banter" but I don t know if I can get used to this. I can t even think of good comebacks to any of these insults. I feel like they re either always mocking me, insulting me or criticising me in some way. They don t treat anyone else in the group this way. On the other hand, they re fun and outgoing, so i suppose i enjoy their friendship in that aspect. I want to remain friends with them because of these reasons but I don t know how to develop thicker skin to deal with this? |

One of them, named Joe (for example), him and I were friends before my ex and i met. Joe and my ex became BEST friends. They went to the same high school, and were on the same sports team. Joe and I were still close, and we all hung out as a group all the time. My ex and I broke up 2.5 months ago. He left me because college was starting. All of his friends were instructed not to talk to me anymore. My ex deleted me off all social media, and some of his friends did the same thing. Joe, however, didn't. We still stayed in touch. Joe invited me over to his dorm to hangout with him and a few other friends. (He moved to a college that is 3 hours away so I made that drive to see them!) Joe put a video of me dancing on his snap story and having a good time. (Because I genuinely was). My ex saw the story, and deleted Joe off of snapchat and instagram. He didn't say a word to Joe, just deleted him off everything. Joe might've violated "bro code," but I was his friend first, and he helped me through the hardship of the breakup. Why did my ex delete Joe, they were best friends? (Joe never asked my ex for permission because he said he didn't need to.) Also, my ex and I were together for a little over a year. It wasn't JUST because of college that we broke up, we also had a few trust issues that he didn't want to carry over into college so he just cut it off. (over a phone call. Very unexpected). |

Her other Best friend had birthday last week and she gave her a necklace, covers for her phone, and a vacation with her and her family. | Question: A bad influence trying to come back into my life? Posted: 29 Sep 2016 12:32 PM PDT A couple years ago I used to be best friends with this girl who wasn't very nice, she liked to shove me even when asked to stop and wanted to do things that weren't right like drink her moms vodka or take money from my parents, the last straw was when another friend and I were texting with her and she had threatened to cut us, and cyber bullying, then SHE called the police on US for saying all that stuff over text, except she deleted her part of the texts, and since we didn't say anything she tried to tell the cop we deleted our texts also deleting it on her phone, and it doesn't work like that so nothing happened. My friends and I cut contact with her and recently she messaged me on Facebook asking to meet. There is a possibility she has changed but I'm not sure. I don't really want to get involved with her again but I want to give her a chance if she's changed |

| Question: How to tell my friend she's being catfished? Posted: 29 Sep 2016 12:26 PM PDT My friend is 22 years old and has been dating someone via Facebook for 2 years. She's done reverse image searches on the pictures ''he'' has been sending her, but nothing came up so she just assumed he was legit. but there's also his friend and in my opinion she's slightly not right in the head because of things she says or acts. I talk to both the ''guy'' and her, and over the past year or so I've come to a conclusion they are the same person. I know this because both of them get on and reply at the same times, when she replies he goes off then when he replies she goes off within seconds of each other, the grammar and the way they talk is the same, they misspell the same words the same incorrect way, say they are best friends and see each other just about every day but are unable to provide photo evidence. I really do not want to hurt my friends feelings but I also do not want her to be continued to be lied to. |

She really hurt my feelings and I cried for more than an hour bc I was telling her the truth. She knew I cried and hurt my feelings. The only thing she said was she wouldn't lie to me. But later in the conversation she told me maybe he isn't gay. In my opinion I don't think she have respect toward my feelings. That sounds like she played me. | Question: My best friend's mom hates me and won't let me see her...? | Question: Removed my toxic friend, but feel sad, any help? Posted: 29 Sep 2016 12:16 PM PDT So I did it, I finally did it, I kicked a toxic friend out of my life. Let me shorten this as much as possible. We were very close, shared tons of things, helped each other, hung out, care about each other and so on (to note, I'm a guy, my friend was a girl). Soon though, I noticed subtle changes, her attitude, the way she treated and talked to me and so on. Eventually, she down right would ignore me, she would be rude to make, take advantage of me and my financial situation, always about her but never asked about me and so on. So, after her ignoring me for the third time, after I had gone out of my way to help her (repaired her phone for free, brought food to her work, got her fav music), I thought it was time. So I passed on a text, saying goodbye and haven't texted her since (she hasn't replied either, and is still ignoring for whatever reason). Its only been such a short time, but I feel like I miss her in my life, even though the bad outweighed the good. Will this go away, the feeling of sadness like this? I feel like I did the right thing, but I also feel sad... |

But people don't like me. In school I was always bullied, they wouldn't tell me why. I spent 3 years alone doing online school. Now I'm trying to get a job and make money but I can't because people don't like me, and won't hire me. My only problem in life, but a big one because people don't like me. Posted: 29 Sep 2016 11:25 AM PDT My ex best friend and I got into a fight in January, and since she has blocked me and deleted any photos of us on all her social medias. ( i did not) she has also spread to her group of friends lies and stories about me, making them turn their backs on me and unfollow me too. however, recently about a month ago, she followed me on instagram. I decided to remain optimistic thinking she had changed. So i followed her back. However these days i am starting to get a bit nervous. whenever I post something on my socials she will tweet something completely unrelated. e.g I post a picture about cookies , she : " I hate how much your have changed, that sucks" "i wonder if i should remain stubborn with my decision". I am also getting the impression that when she posts something on social media, she is doing it to show me she is living a 'better life' When we were still friends, she would stalk her ex-boyfriend in the shopping mall (i would have to tag along) by following him around and dropping hints on her social media about her wereabouts. she would cry because she found out i was drinking the previous night and did not tell her. she admitted she was jealous when I went out with other friends and accused me of 'replacing' her. this leads to my conclusion, im often scared that she may be stalking me now, what should i do? |

Posted: 29 Sep 2016 11:08 AM PDT I'm going for my first ever professional bra fitting tomorrow at a boutique near my house (my bras never fit right) and I don't know the protocol. I'm not overly modest (around other women) so I don't mind getting topless if I'm supposed to, but I don't know if I'm supposed to. It makes sense that it'd be more accurate if you were topless.... But I don't want to commit a big faux pas either. The store advertises "free, professional bra fittings" on a sign but there aren't any more details. I assume they take you to a fitting room for privacy. How much do I strip down? Will they tell me when? She told me she would think about it and the next day she texted me back and said she was unable to do it. To say I was mad was an understatement. I put some meme's up on Instagram and I guess she read them because, I have not heard from her since. The other day when I was on Facebook I notice that she blocked me. I'm confused as to why she would block me. I didn't think what I posted would have ended our friendship. I do have friends! That's why I asked this B**ch for the money. My question is why does he keep blocking me on social media without any reason and didnt message me after unblocking me on whatsapp? And what should i do? Senior year was the best year for me. I miss it all though. I miss playing softball, my teachers, performing in choir, seeing plays, german class, seeing my friends, basketball and football games, walking home with my best friend after school (he's off in another state for college), i wish i appreciated the little things more. I'm not at a university or anything to have fun, i'm stuck at a community college for awhile and living at home still with my mom. I only graduated a few months ago but I miss everyone and everything already. advice? |

| Question: In need of desprate friendship advice after my mothers passing? Posted: 29 Sep 2016 09:38 AM PDT Okay so my mom recently passed away two weeks ago and i am still hurting. What makes this worse is me realizing that my best friend may not indeed care about me. I currently live with said friend and talk almost everyday. Once i found out my mother was passing i texted him for help, he would text me about the situation and that was cool.. Later in the week i asked if he was coming to the funeral and he said he could do another funeral. So not only did my mother pass away but my best friend wont even be here for me.. DIdnt even give me a phone call.... I returned home after a week and he acted like nothing happened.. Okay.... Later in the week we planned on going to a football game a couple hours away and i had high hopes this would fix everything. The trip went great, except we didnt talk about my mother at all.. After we returned home he quickly went back to himself. Always asking for rides, favors, food whatever he could get. One afternoon he had asked me for a ride when i returned home, i said sure just let me shower and we can head out. After showering i was waiting downstairs for at least 15 minutes so i decided to check on what was going on. I discovered my roommates were having a "family" meal and they told me i couldnt eat any of it. Talk about feeling left out?? All in all i feel like this friend has never truely shown me he cares, he will say it but never shows it. What do you think i should do? My friend was also considered family. His family calls me family and im very close with them. He is like a brother to me but this is really bothering me. He knows what i am going through because his dad died two years ago. I just cant get passed how this isnt a one sided friendship. |

Posted: 29 Sep 2016 09:16 AM PDT So, 11/3 will be the third birthday I've celebrated with friends from the job I've had since early 2014. This is the greatest group of coworkers I've ever had (I'm turning 29), and last year I was blown away that 13 people (counting my best friend) showed up for a birthday dinner and games. This year however, I'll be working that night, so I'm going to aim for the Sunday night 3 days later when work will be closed (after 5). We often go to the movies and I'd like to leave it up to my friends if we go see Doctor Strange, or have another dinner. When should I start asking people do you think? |
