Posted: 14 Feb 2016 11:22 PM PST I am going to be a bridesmaid at my brother's wedding, and the dress the bride picked out is so ugly and informal. It seriously looks like a dress my grandmother would wear to church on Sunday. She only cares what her other bridesmaids like (her sisters and niece). I have sent her ideas of really nice dresses but never received a response. When I later asked her about it she just said they were nice but her sisters were picking a dress. If it wasn't for my brother (and not wanting to be a b**ch), I would tell her that I don't want to be a bridesmaid anymore so that I can wear what I like and actually look decent at my only sibling's wedding. I really want to dress formally to my only brother's wedding, so I was thinking a good compromise would be to just wear the dress and then change into something formal at the reception. If I do, I will just do it without telling her because if I ask her she will just cry and I'll be guilt-ed into staying in that horrid dress the whole evening. I don't know what else to do! I really hate this dress so much. Please do not leave rude remarks or say suck it up. As aforementioned he is my only sibling, and we are really close, so I really want to look formal during this wonderful celebration. |
Question: MOH Problems. Am I turning into Bridezilla? Posted: 14 Feb 2016 10:00 PM PST My MOH is one of my besties. I asked her to be my MOH because she is very well organized. One bridesmaid is taking the reigns on the bachelorette party (My oldest friend, the kind who would use her spare key to let herself in and help herself to anything, and be there waiting on my couch when I got home), another is my thrifty shopper and helping me with decorations (She's good at it and wants to help). I don't want to have a bridal shower and since all of my friends know me in different ways I want all of them to help with the toast. Am I being unfair to my MOH? She is keeping me on track with dates and sending everything out on time. If I am, what can I do to make her feel a little special? Looking back I feel like I should have told everyone that there would be no MOH because I couldn't pick, but its too late for that now. HELP! |
Question: Surprise proposal ruined by pregnancy. Any ideas? Posted: 14 Feb 2016 07:36 PM PST So, I had been planning to propose to my girlfriend for a while. I had carefully ordered a custom ring a couple weeks ago, was going to take a few more weeks to make, so I was going to pop the question in about a month. I still had to talk to her parents (I already know them and we get along well, but wanted them in on it) cause she is very close to them. Had a romantic surprise proposal idea etc. Well, my world turned upside down last week when she calls me one night with news: "I'm pregnant". She was freaking out, and in the course of our discussion/fight, I spilled my entire plan. This made her extremely happy, as she's been waiting for me to propose for months, but it kinda took the wind out. We sat down this week and some long talks about the future. We're in a good position in life for this and weren't too far off anyway, so short version, we're getting married and keeping the kid. That said, she wants, and I still want to make, a formal proposal. After some heavy finagling, I can get the ring this weekend. I also still want (and she wants me) to talk to her parents (we wanna try and make it look like this was not totally shotgunned). She wants to tell her mom about the pregnancy first by herself (and soon), after I propose, and next week I go on a two week business trip, so it's pretty obvious when I'm gonna do my ceremonial 'pop the question.' That said, any ideas on how to make this still sorta special? |
Question: Is it rude to not have an open bar at a wedding reception? Posted: 14 Feb 2016 06:52 PM PST We are planning a wedding for 100-150 people and are trying to fit into a budget. How does it look to other people if there is not an open bar and they have to buy their own drinks? |
Question: All inclusive resort destination wedding or Cruise wedding? Posted: 14 Feb 2016 05:22 PM PST We are planning our wedding and can't decide if we want to go to an all inclusive resort or do a cruise wedding. We will have about 40-50 guests and really wanna do it on a beach. Cruise- we are thinking cruise because there is so much on the ship to do. Also this will be our honeymoon too because we just can't afford both. All inclusive resort because we thought it might be cheaper and we want that actual ceremony on the beach anyways. I'd like to get some advice from people who have done these. Please help me weigh out pros and cons. |

Question: Was it bad that I cried at my buddies wedding? Posted: 14 Feb 2016 04:47 PM PST Okay... So from what I remember I cried at my buddies wedding. I was very toasted. Memories are in blur... But I remember my buddy giving a speech about his new wife and I started crying. And then I hugged my buddy and was crying. I have known him over 20+ years and I think it was a special moment in his life and after drinking to much and smoking the tears came. I think I may have made a fool of myself but Oh well. Was it bad that I cried? I just started remembering all the times we have had together and that now he has special someone it made me very happy for him. |
Posted: 14 Feb 2016 01:11 PM PST My niece (my sisters daughter) is getting married. She had a wedding shower, wedding and wedding dinner after wedding. All of which I was invited to but my daughter was not (age 20). My niece and my daughter are 2 years apart in age, went to the same school, live in the same town, see each other at family functions. They are not best friends but they are first cousins and have known each other all their lives. When I got an invite and my daughter did not I called my sister and she said she was sorry but it is a money issue and limiting the guests. While I understand I was furious they did this to my daughter. I refused to go to any of the events nor did I give my niece a gift. This no doubt caused a major rift in that side of the family but I feel I did not start it. I let them know weeks before any of the events so they had plenty of time to correct this ,which they did not which tells me just how little they think of us. As for the cost... it wouldn't have cost them anything to invite her to shower, it would have cost them nothing to invite her to wedding. The only money would be the cost of a dinner after the wedding. Should I be angry???? |
Question: Address 2 online shopping? Question: Song for First Dance help?!? Posted: 14 Feb 2016 06:20 AM PST My fiance and I are getting married in less than 3 months and were still having trouble settling on a song to use for our first dance. Due to his tastes and last marriage almost every country love song is out. I had been going for piano guys version of "a thousand years" and he went for the instrumental Beauty and the beast. To help give an idea of what kind of music we want. But both say the others song is too overdone in our generations. So does anyone know any beautiful and waltzy type songs we could listen to and see if they re the right fit? Please and thank you so much! We have to meet with the DJ on Friday. |
Question: Did you get a lot of flack for your pants, instead of a skirt at your wedding? Posted: 14 Feb 2016 02:36 AM PST My fiance and I have been through the big wedding experience before with our deceased spouses. I wore a big poofy dress, and I hated every minute. I swore to myself that if I ever got married again, I would wear pants. That's exactly what I'm doing for my upcoming wedding. But I've been getting a lot of flack from my mother and grandmother. Isn't the bride the one who decides what she wears on her wedding day? I've already told them to stop, but they won't. I've stopped talking about wedding with them, because they think only their opinions matter. I meant wearing pants |
Question: Is it possible for a guy to like me this long ? Posted: 13 Feb 2016 06:05 PM PST I've been having a casual relationship for almost 3 years with some guy who s twice my age (I m 24 ) He keeps his private life a secret; allegating that he s not with the mother of his kid but that he likes me and has feelings for me. I believe that he s just way too obsessed with me because even after we see each other exclusively for sex he wouldn t stop talking about it and asking me for pictures all the time. Long story short, I ll be 25 this year and I ve been seeing this guy since I was 21 and I feel like I ve been wasting the best years of my life with someone that will never be able to love me. He says that its not just sex and that he gets in trouble for talking to me but he simply won t let go. Even if we don t see each other he just wants to call me at 6am just to hear my voice... Why do I feel like this is a little bit too depressing? I just blocked him on Whatsapp, I ve been blocking him my whole life but it all goes back to the beginning. |
