Posted: 19 Feb 2016 04:07 PM PST Hey, I'm a 19 year old guy and a sophomore in college. since I entered college, I pretty much stayed around all my old friends from high school but by now more and more I get the feeling this connection we had is dying slowly because it just feels full, like there's nothing left to know about each other and the spark with most of them is long gone. I have certain classes in college where I'm on my own, and I would LOVE to expand my social circle and meet new people, but am honestly scared to put myself out there. I promised myself to make an effort, go sit next to people and talk to them, but I'm scared they'll think I'm pathetic and in desperate search for friends because I would be on my own before talking to them and maybe that's weird? I'm sure a certain lot of people take classes by themselves too but I don't want to remain one of those, however it looks so hard to approach people who are already in group.. I just want to feel excited about new people again, and that feeling of not knowing everything there is to know about people. Anyone got some good advice or experience? |

| Posted: 19 Feb 2016 03:44 PM PST For starters. I'm a female and I didn't grow up with any sisters and only have two younger brothers. Ever since middle school, I've had problems with other females. They excluded me for being weird and constantly picked on me for having bad hair. I didn't have guy friends either because they hated me for being an ugly female, so I never jumped on the whole "I get along with guys better than girls" bandwagon like some females would in my position. I looked at my history of failed friendships and the majority of them came from females and less guys. For only one guy, it was kind of my fault for being clingy (unintentionally). It's to the point that I feel pathetic on using $150 to "buy" a female "friend," who abandoned me anyway. I feel like I'm not good enough for female friends and I don't want guy friends. I hate the fact that only guys want to be my friend, so I push them away. I also noticed that I've developed a terrible attitude after all this and even though it's not right deep down, at the same time, I can't blame myself. Why should I have a good attitude when I can't have friends like everybody else? |

She gave some sob story excuses. But now she justifies it by talking to other friends like she was trying to do ME a favor. (LOL) - Playing the victim and making me the villain for saying NO. It trickles back to you one way or the other. I see her in social groups and continue to act friendly. I haven't said anything about her to other friends. I have a totally different opinion of her now. Have you ever had an experience with friends like this? I think they are total users. |

I've known her for 14 years and she never was good at replying back generally. Now that she has a new bf who is married BTW... she drops everything for him. Its not that I ask much of her she lives less than a mile from me, and cannot accomplish simple tasks like arranging to pick up or drop off things. I let her use my suit case to move some stuff and I had to buy a new one because she doesn't respond to my texts or calls. She says she will bring it for days in a row and each day, no response. Yesterday I ran into her at a spin class and I lost it. She claims she's so busy she was too tired or to sick to drop off the suit case yet promises the next day... Too late! I an back in town I bought a new one and blocked her entirely. I can't believe how people can be so disrespectful.... Also it's not like I ask her impossible things, I literally try to arrange to either pick up or drop off, I don't know why it takes someone 2 weeks to respond!!! She must be on drugs... |

A few years ago one of my best friends moved from the east coast where I live all the way to Arkansas. we kept in touch and still talk to this day, but lately he s been getting worse and worse, to the point where the advice I give isn t enough to help. He s already attempted suicide a handful of times in the past and his parents outright refuse to send him to a therapist, and instead send him to the hospital for a few days at a time rather than getting him real professional help. Their refusal to get him help only makes things worse for him, and him being so far away I don t know how to help. I desperately want him to be ok, and I d hate to lose a friend as good as he is. Is there anything I can do to help him from where I am? |

I live near a college and every weekend there are drunk idiots that are underage walking around being load and obnoxious. Plus there are big parties where music is blasting, people on the front lawn with open beer and are clearly underage. The cops will just ignore them or tell them to take the party inside. Same thing with the drunk the drunk idiots staggering around, Sometimes the cops will stop them but when they show their student ID's the cops usually let them go. The thing is with non students who are within the same age group the cops crackdown hardcore. Parties are usually busted every time and the cops will walk right in and put everyone against the wall and breathalyze everyone. And these houses are in the same neighborhood. Why Is this? btw when I say non students I mean out of high school, just not in college |

She has a kid but her boyfriend lives in another state, theyve being together for 5 years but i recently found out from my mom that they fight all the time. Apparently to the point where one of em are going to kill each other. Her boyfriend is 8 years older then her. She even said thats probably why they're so different. She used to be at home all the time looking for jobs so we basically used to hang out a lot from staying till 4 in the morning watching movies, to going to the mall to prank call people etc, going to the store, staying in her house till midnight watching tv, massaging her lol... But we dont anymore cause 3 weeks ago we both got jobs and we rarely see each other but when we do is when she comes visiting my mom and hang out with her. All we say to each other is high or small talk but thats it. She used to say that she prefer me more then my mom but ever since we both got jobs the little free time she has she spents it with my mom. She tells her everything and cried infront of her but acts like her life is drama free when i ask her. I don't think she feels the same way about me cause she told me im like her lil brother then she switched it to im her best friend then switched it to im a really good friend then switched it to im like her adopted son. I have extremely low confidence that causes me to believe that I am a bother to people around me. I usually end up eating alone, sitting alone in class, staying in my room for the entire weekends. I fear judgement for not being smart, pretty, fun etc. When someone does talk to me, I constantly have the mindset that it is out of pity. I have been offered by my dream university they have been asking for such high grades from me. Since then I have been working so hard like its unreal. I have been enjoying this journey and still am, because I really want my dream so bad. I have met my boyfriend 5 months ago and he has been right there for me. He helps me so much with work and we pretty much do everything together and he is also my best friend. I go to an all girls school (its sucks) and I have a group of mates there as well. So basically cause I am working so hard, I am pretty much in the library all the time and I meet my friends now and then but they always are like "why do u study so much" and im just like well Im determined. Cause they always hang out in the common room, chilling or doing whatever, I will be working. they decided to party and everything one day,..and that exact day i had relatives around so i couldn't go. So we have a group chat and I told them I can't go.. They started to gang up on me and say that im just getting ridciulous, i don't put any effort into this friendship and all i care is about my boyfriend and they really hurt me... i really don't like them. I said this is NOTHING to do with my boyfriend. This is me, and my dream. They were laughing at me and saying that "UM WE ALL HAVE EXAMS AND YOURE NOT THE ONLY ONE.. GOSH".. | Question: Haven't felt like myself for a long time? Posted: 19 Feb 2016 08:50 AM PST All of a sudden today I had a breakdown. It happened at home, with no one watching, thank God... but I just realized that I don't feel like myself anymore. I realized that because for a moment today I did feel like myself again. Suddenly I realized that all of the friends that I've got are just... I mean I love them but they don't make me feel good, I'm not happy with it all. My life is great but it's not my life anymore. I feel as if I have no control over it and as if I'm constantly settling with everything. And suddenly I realized that I've felt like this for like 4 months or something. It's just that I haven't been able to identify what's been wrong until now when I felt what it was like when something was right. When I remembered what mattered and what I actually want. And that I'm not afraid to try to get that. Suddenly I feel like I want to lose contact with a lot of the friends that I've acquired during the last couple of months. And I mean, I love them, and we have so much fun but I just don't feel like they're my friends. They're just people I randomly decided to spend a lot of time with and it just doesn't feel right. All of it is SO weird and I don't know what to do about all of this. Does anyone recognize this feeling? What should I do about all of this? Should I just give up on all of this? Perhaps get a fresh start? |

Posted: 19 Feb 2016 08:46 AM PST (I'm a girl) So today I went to this farewell party, I'm in grade 9 which was supposed to give farewell to grade 10, I went there and I have like 3 friends out of those 1 came, I just hate being around people, the only reason I went there was so that my friend won't be alone and I just don't talk a lot to people, like I don't talk to anyone from my grade, so I reached the place before my friend and girls from my grade were there, i didn't even talk to anyone there and nobody talked to me I was like invisible and everyone was invisible to me, after 2 HOURS my friend came and was enjoying like everyone else, the whole time everyone was laughing DJ was playing songs and I hate all of it, why were they laughing even my friend was laughing when there was not a single reason to do so and we just ate played a game and cut a cake, what's special in that? My friend said I could shower there because I'd be staying longer and all I was wearing was board shorts and that would be uncomfortable so I got my clothes and towel and when I opened the bathroom door his sister was there sitting on the edge of the bathtub completely naked masturbating on pornhub. I didn't know what to do and it was weird because her brother and I have been best friends for a really long time and I just couldn't comprehend it. She has a desire for attention and pity. She still harassing her family and blaming them for her life, but I feel sure that her family has substancial evidence to back up that what she says is lies. I don't want to be caught up in something that my friend has created for herself. How do I distance myself, so as not to be involved? |

I am currently on a diet and have lost 3 pounds, but I feel like no matter how much weight I lose I will always be unhappy because I have stretch marks ALL OVER my body. I also have freckles all over my arms and I hate them. I have very pale skin and whenever I try to tan, I just burn and my skin peels, so I don't bother. I'm 17, never had a boyfriend or even kissed a boy. Never even been on a date, and boys always make fun of me in school. Not only am I the fat girl, I'm also very shy and quiet, which makes me even more of a target because people know I won't stick up for myself. I barley say a word in school all day, sit alone in the library during lunch, then I go home, eat and listen to music. I literally don't talk to anyone except my parents and a 2 girls in school, but they have their own friends and they only talk to me when they're not around. Alot of people in my school are immature and all they do is make fun of people and gossip about their friends behind their back, and sometimes I'm glad I'm not a part of that, but I do get lonely. Right now, it's February vacation, I haven't even left the house, and I have been dieting, but I'm starting to think that there's no point because I will always be miserable. |

I am a girl of truth and I hate liars and lying. I usually endup with situations of having 0 girl friends. As most of girls I come across are either bitchy or backstabbers or liars. I try to ignore their lying behavior many times just for sake of keeping some friends around. I know this girl from past 9 years, I know her lying care free behavior. But since we had this old friendship I thought she might have changed a bit. Eventually developed trust as it turned into long distance friendship and I never gave second thought sharing my happiness with pregnancy and miscarriage with pregnancy. When she got pregnant, she lied to me when I asked her if she is pregnant when I looked at photos she shared of her birthday party and few other incidents. Then she disappears and stops calling. After many months, she texts me she delivered a baby girl. I just congratulated her by text. After 3-4 weeks, she texts back saying "I never care to wish her on phone". When I asked her for explanation why she lied to me, she said she want to be ensure her baby doesnt get my evil eye of being childless and she dont get embarrassed like me facing miscarriage after expressing happiness over pregnancy and I always create embarrassment by telling truth all time. This was very hurting and its keeping me upset for past couple of days. Should I discontinue her friendship? |

Posted: 19 Feb 2016 07:19 AM PST My friend told me and my wife (in front of his wife) that they discovered that his nephew (his brothers son) had repeatedly raped his niece (his other brothers daughter) over the course of many years. Apparently some of his siblings (hes got three brothers and two sisters) know about it and nothing has been done to address it. The nephew is in his late 20's and the neice is as well and she is completely delayed emotionally (she acts like a 10 year old and plays with kids much younger than her). The sick part is that my friend has daughters so when I asked him if he spoke to them and asked them if the nephew had ever touched them his response was "why they have never been alone together". His daughters ater 12 and 10 and I've been over there many times where the entire huge family was in the house, the adults were in the kitchen and the kids were upstairs. In fact over Christmas I was there and didn;t know the nephew was there until he came into the room after we had been there for over an hour so I know my friend is either lying or in denial. I feel like I should do something but I have no proof that anything has gone on and I don't know if they will accuse me of lying or if the girl will admit it if I were to say something to authorities. I just hate the thought of this kid continuing to hurt people and being around young girls. They have a large family and they all get together a lot so there are lots of opportunities for something to happen in the future. What do I do? |

I will call her Susan, Susan loves to give to others as long as she is getting a big reaction from it. If and when others are not giving Susan the reaction she wants Susan becomes cold, I don't really believe she is giving because she cares genuinely about the people it is as if it is only for her own ego boast. Deep down I really love my best friend unfortunately it has become worse over the years. We have always celebrated birthdays but now it seems like any occasion she can think of she is trying to give gifts for, to get a boast of egotism help!! st. Patrick's day is right around corner |
