My husband has a very bad relationship with his ex. There may be things that are his fault, but to his credit I know he never says anything bad about his wife or her family to the kids or in front of the kids. The same can t be said for her and her family. Anyway, he spent a long time trying to get the kids to spend the night with us (they are 7 & 5) and just over a year ago it all seemed to start to fall into place. Their mother had a boyfriend and so it seemed that was one of the reasons for it. It was all going well until after christmas (the first one the girls had been allowed to spend the first part of xmas eve with their dad - xmas day and boxing day are out, inspire of what the courts say), which went (annoyingly for their mother) really well. Ever since christmas the oldest child stopped wanting to stay over, and the younger child won t stay over without his sister. This has gone on for the whole year so far. During the day they both seem fine, and the girl seems really happy, but at bedtime, she suddenly starts missing her mum. I don t think it s been helped by the fact that seemingly out of nowhere their mum told them that they shouldn t sleep in the same bed as their father because it was dangerous for them (they don t do this anyway). So my question is, do kids go through stages like this? Is there anything we can do? Can anyone suggest any reason why it might be happening or how we can fix it? Their mother won t talk to my husband about them.

I'm a 14 year old boy and my younger sister is 12. My parents have said lately that when they leave the house now she'll be in charge, and she'll be the babysitter. They said it's cause she's more mature, she's much bigger than me, does better in school, and she's better at being the grownup. She is bigger and does a lot better in school, but I'm still embarrassed. The other night she even made me go to bed at 11 and decided to stay up. She loves laughing at me about how she's in charge of me even though she's younger. She says it's like I'm her younger brother. Is this unfair?

It seems like every time my mom is home she blows up at me and my two sisters for small things, like forgetting to do the laundry. She doesn't just yell at us about the laundry, she'll start attacking us verbally about other aspects of our lives: how lazy we are, how ungrateful we are, how we constantly argue (which we don't often), how stressed out she is and how we make it worse. Now we aren't even allowed to leave the house except for school. Every single weekend she gets mad about something and I don't know how much more I can take. I'm a second semester junior so I have a year and a half left till I can leave for college. I know she loves me because she says "I love you, but I just can't have you doing... (insert misbehavior)". I feel like I'm trapped and my parents are divorced so I have literally no one except my siblings, but one is at college and we aren't a touchy family so I can't tell them how I feel. I don't have amy really close friends and I'm starting to feel really trapped in this house. I don't know if this is emotional abuse or I'm just overreacting but I am feeling really depressed and alone. I need some answers as to why she is always so upset because I can't deal with it anymore.

I hate to inconvenience my grandmother on a day's notice. It seems so careless as if i don't care what her plans are but right now she's my only hope to go through with my Valentine's Day plans without having to cancel. That poses as a inconvenience canceling last-minute, but that's what my sister did. For a week i have checked with her to make sure i could borrow her car while my dad's is put up for the winter weather. Everyday she has been telling me the same story, yes, sure, of course and so on. I mean-we're only going to the movies. We wouldn't be long. But now that i talked to her she is saying her boyfriend will have the car tmrw. Bummer but i guess it's my fault. Even though she had said yes initially, i should have had asked someone else just in case. No need to jump down my throat, i know now what i should have done. But i feel super awkward about asking this so last minute that i really don't want to. It's so thoughtless and selfish that i can't bring myself to do it. But alas, i don't want to postpone my plans since my dad is reeeally looking forward to it. So please walk me through it so i don't end up saying something along the lines of, "Hey grandma, I'm sorry that I'm about to be an *** and inconvenience you but-".

I really loved her as a kid. Like I LOVED LOVED her. But, now I feel nothing for her. Just recently, she got hit by a car and had a couple of injuries. My school told me about it since it happened right in front of the school, but I was honestly super chill about it. I shed no tears because I didn't care. When her boyfriend said she wouldn't be home for the rest of her day, I was so happy. I was leaping in excitement and went to play video games on my computer. Even the sight of her being hurt, I still couldn't care less. She's been yelling at me a lot, and obviously beating me because I haven't been listening to her (not often, it's not abuse, just "discipline", and she's asian so...) and she's even been turning of the wifi while I'm in a middle of a game. She comes downstairs and annoys the **** out of me and just randomly cleans in the middle of the night sometimes. I've grown more of a hatred for her then love. I avoid her everyday and go straight to my room after school, and refuse to hold any conversations with her unless it's neccessary. I can't wait to go to college and never see her for 4 years. What's wrong with me? Why don't I care about my mom anymore?

So, I love my mom and everything, and I know she loves me, even though sometimes she calls me names and such, but it's only because I deserve it some of the time. But my grandmother is not the same story. She acts sweet and kind, and then someone says something that she doesn't agree with it, and then she starts arguments. It's not a typical argument, either. She'll scream, she'll call me names, and sometimes, but very rarely, she'll resort to violence. She's only done it about three times, but I remember them all clearly. Once, she took me by the hair and slammed me into the ground. The other two times, She's ripped my clothes and left really bad scars on my back/neck/face. Sometimes, my mom will try to call the police, but then my grandma will guilty her into not doing it. Sure, I will call her names and things like that, but then my grandma makes a big deal and she will say: "So what if I leave a scar on her face? What about the scars on my heart?" And cheesy crap like that. Recently, it hasn't been bad. It really hasn't. But, she has been looking through my stuff, and telling my mom lies about me and things like that. Now, since my aunt is in the hospital, she's been gone most of the time. But I'm scared because usually it gets better then comes back even worse. Once, me and my mother were so scared we left the house for the night and my father got us a hotel. What should I do?

I live with parents. I am gonna move out but the family is dysfunctional. My dad wants nothing to do with me. My sister lives with parents. Though i have done things for her she doesn't speak. Why is it that when we forgive someone and the re-offend us we are not as offended as when someone we have not forgiven offends us again. For example, my mother can have two people offend her. One she has a previous issue with she has not forgiven and the other she forgave years ago for something. She will snap and yell at the one she has not forgiven for a previous offense and simply be irritated and nothing more with the person she forgave for any previous offense. My mother's case she has a brother she links to her estranged father whom he is close to so she will snap at any offense she hears he does but her sister she will simply say "why did she do that" and then step away without any conflict and forgive her the next day.

Im 15 and i know that as a teen i should be experiencing some probs but i just can t take it, it s too much. My parents got divorced when i was like 4 and i moved with my mom and never saw dad again until i was 7. My mom got married again when i was 13 and had a child, then got divorced AGAIN. When she got married i moved to my dad btw. Now we are 3 brothers and im the middle brother. I get blamed for everything that happens in this family, EVERYTHING. My dad is broke and my mom is always blaming me and yelling at me because my dad is broke, but that s not my fault!! She always yells at me for no reason, i cant talk to her bcz if i do, she will yell or she won t even listen or she ll start criticizing me. Recently my gf and I visited my parents for a little weekend vacay. Anyhoo, it was hot out (around 82 degrees), sun shining,so my dad decided to fire up the grill. Everyone (mom, lil sis, gf, my grandparents) was sitting around the pool and grill. After putting some burgers on I wanted to go for a dip so I went to change. I make my way back outside and put my foot in but the water was freezing even though it was warm out. I figured i'd just tan instead. I pull my trunks down and low on the towel and my gf sqeals "omg", everyone looks at her and ask what's wrong and she looks around confused and says "oh nothing". She makes her way over to me and says "wth are you doing, why are you naked? your family is right here". I looked up and her and said, "so what?" She goes "your butt *** naked infront of your mom, and little sister, not to mention your grandparents. You don't find that the least bit inappropriate?" I tell her no because I'm comfortable with my body and my family has no issues with my nudity, never have. After tanning for about an hour in the sun, I pull my trunks back on and go eat. She acts weird the entire time while no one else does. I've been having multiple problems with my son's father. He pays child support and is supposed to follow the visitation order however it's always my son's grandfather that picks him up and drops him off and very few it'll be my son's actual dad to get him however they are supposed to pick him upand drop off at 6 and instead always late closer to 7 than anything and when dropping off they sometimes won't come till 8! And I'm really tired of it it's been like that for the past year. Also I hardly ever talk to his father but yet randomly he will send me innappropiaye text messages calling me names and etc. Saying I'm a bad mother and etc. But literally out of no where he will send me messages like this. I'm married and other children with my husband but my son's father keeps acting extremely ridiculous and he tries to fight with me and husband every few times we actually see him. I'm 19. I live with my mom, her bf, and my brother. My mom and her bf work, I do too. Well I just started working. I only make 100 - 300 a week. If its a good week I'll make 240 - 350. bad week 100 - 140. Currently in the process of looking for a second job. The reason why I got a job is so I can get a few things I really need. Also to save up so I can move out. My mom has been struggling so much so she needed to get a second job. Shes asked me today to help her. She asked that I pay 50$ every two weeks. That's like 100 a month. I have really bad OCD and I make lists to control it. My therapist said that it was my way of coping. Anyways, this paying 100 a month came out of no where. Its not in my lists (yes I have more than one list). I want to save up so i can move out but i don't know how I'm going to save and pay 100 a month. If your already planning to called me "spoiled" and "lazy" hold your breath. I'm a senior in high school, who works two part time jobs. I'm in many after school activities, including sports and clubs. I turned 17 a few months ago, and not having a car is just very inconvenient. I need to go places, and my parents are simply never even home to the point where I'm left stranded and walked 4 miles to a friend's house once. I have enough money to buy a used car, but I'm not spending all my money when I have upcoming costs (college, books, prom, etc.) to worry about. My parents both received generous amounts of help from their parents and it's just unfair. I'm trying my hardest to pay for everything myself and not receiving ANY help! My neighbor gave ME his car when he moved to Arizona, and my dad took dibs so he technically took my first car. Any ideas on how to get them to help a bit at least???? Wow! So righteous for correcting a simple grammar mistake while I typed quickly! I had a 4.2 GPA this quarter and have already been accepted into 6 colleges and all into honors programs. My dad used to physically and verbally abuse me and my 2 other siblings when we were younger. It went on for 12 years. My dad had an affair and now my 2 other siblings want nothing to do with him. Like I do school online so that means I stay at home all day and my mom pressures me to hurry and finish my classes, so I can complete two school years in one year .She does not allow me to go outside .I have no friends no one to talk to . Ok guys I know this is weird but an MC of an frat/org or whatever you called it just confront and yelling at me and saying "WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT THE (frat name)" then punched me in the face. Here s what happen. They insist me to then join them and I decline and still they insist. Then I said " It s just a frat. Im going to be a Pilot" and then a week after, the MC punched me. My sister is almost 18, I m 19. And through the last couple of years, she became such a b*tch. Everything I do in her eyes is wrong, she sees herself as superior to me, she gets mad at me and had an attitude towards me, and when I say something back to her, she tells me I m in the wrong and I should not have an attitude towards her. She makes useless comments about my weight, how I dress, how I look, what I say and how I act in general. Sometimes I feel like she tries to raise me, even though I m older... For example, when we are at the dinner table at my moms house (my parents are divorced), we can t sit together because she will always find a wrong in how I look at her, in things I say. So what did she do that was so bad...Well she created a fake Facebook profile and started spreading rumors about how my daughter is a virgin with no friends who can't get a boyfriend. What happened my daughter didn't find out tell she checked her computer, and everyone at school was teasing her online. The next day at school in the hallway the bully smiled and winked at my daughter while giving a small weave, and laughing. So why not just tell the school well they almost ignore bullying at her high school, and this girl has been the class bully since elementary school. When my daughter got home all she did was cry in her room, and didn't want to talk about anything because she's too embarrassed. I'm 17 and me and my father are really close. But something weird happened this morning. My mother was seeing my grandma and It was just me and my Dad in the house and he tried to kiss me. I backed off and I said no. I threatened to tell mom and he punched me and held me down. I grabbed the house phone to call the police and he broke it. I was held on the ground for about 30 mins until he let me back up. I left the house crying and I don't know what to do. He stole my Car Keys and all I have is my phone now. Recently I've convinced my mom to give us 20 min with the door closed so we can have some privacy because my dad seriously walks by to check on us every 5-10 min. We've been having sex throughout our entire relationship. My dad only found out about that because my mom decided to tell him for whatever reason. My younger sister was always a good kid but lately (around the time she turned 14, she is 15 now) she is wearing very sluty clothes and its creeping me out a bit. Like she wears skirts so short you can litteraly see half of her butt, and sometimes she doesnt even wear panties under them, she is basically naked with a see through towel around her waist, or she wears these croptops that litteraly reveal half of her breasts and also sometimes wears then without bra so when wind blows her boobs are litteraly exposed to the public.... is this some kind of puberty... thing or so?? im a guy so i dont know but it just seems off...... any opinions on what should i do? or is it normal and im just making a fuss about it?

Hi, We ( my family) are worried about my younger brother who is 15 years old and a introvert. He is the only boy in the family and the rest of us are four sisters and he is the youngest. We all love him and worry about him. He is really shy and does not talk to anybody else except us. I am teacher in his school and he has no friends, I mean that he does not like making friends and remains quiet all day. He is really good in his studies and always gets an A+. He will be leaving for officer's academy next year because he wants to become a soldier (in my country the cadets are supposed to be aged between 15 and 18) Most of our relatives and friends find him really annoying because he does not talk to them. He does not even talk to our parents. However he is open with us (sisters), Lets just say we raised him up. He does not even go outside because he says that there are lots of people outside and they scare him. Also he has no idea on how to talk to a girl. Our relatives keep screaming at him to open up which pisses me off because we never yelled at him nor even slapped him. People keep telling my father to take him to a doctor. I am really worried about my brother, is he just different from the others or is he really mentally sick ? Also our dad is a soldier himself. My brother wants to become a soldier because he wants to serve his country.

We're Asians. Koreans, to be more exact. In a lot of Asian cultures, it's common for people to not move out when they become adults. I'm 19 and don't have a job yet. I would've if my dad didn't die few years ago. Just for the record, my mom's getting a job, so we should get our green card in few months, so I'll be able to start working too. The main reason why I want to move out is because my mom is an abusive, sexist, hypocrite *****. E.g. She would hit our heads when she's mad and justifies it by saying we're her children. Then she starts yelling at me if I retaliate and hit her back. (Who cares if it's wrong for me to hit back when she's trying to hit my head?) I really don't care much about my 17 year old brother because he's spoiled rotten, but I'm really worried about my 8 year old sister after I leave... But I'm not sure if I'll make enough money for rent, school, and all that.

My little sister is ten years old, and a few weeks ago she was diagnosed with leukemia. The doctor says that there isn't anything that they can do for her and that she has a few months to live. I don't know what to do, it's killing me to see her in a hospital bed, pretty much unable to do anything. How do I cope with her eventual death? (I'm not trying to be a pessimist, but we know it's coming, and I want to be ready.) The two of us have always been pretty close (I'm five years older than her), and I'm so afraid of what life will be like without her. How can I make her happy and still get through this?

My parents don t let me close door for my bathroom or bedroom. And even sometimes my mom stands at the door, watching me poop. And no, this is not a joke, I thought that was normal until my friends heard my parents don t let me close or lock any doors in the house and watch me shower and poop. I thought that was normal. -_- Im not doing anything bad or anything, they just don t let me close or lock my bathroom or bedroom door. They don t knock when i close them either. And no, I m not old or so so young, I m ten.

I'm almost 17 and a guy but I've been relatively small for awhile, so I don't think I'll be growing much. He's 14 and 5'9, so he's tall, but I don't think there's much more room for growing. Anyway, he eats a lot of food and he's pretty skinny, with a bit of muscle, but he keeps eating all these carbs and stuff in mass amounts before I can get to it. My mom buys a lot of food each week but he gets to it and it's gone pretty quick, and then he blames it on me. It's irritating when I ask my mom to buy something for me and then my brother eats it and uses the excuse "I'm a growing boy!" For example, I asked my mom to buy some ritz crackers and I got home from school and 2 whole sleeves were gone. I got mad and he said "you're just jealous because if you ate that much you'd just grow horizontally" and I can't stand him anymore. What should I do about this? Sorry about the long wall of background stuff, and thanks to anyone who answers.

I'm a 21 year old girl. I go to college. I'm not a party person and I don't drink or anything. I only go to school. I have a cousin (girl) the same age as me and a 17 year old sister. My family treats them better than me. Like their more mature. My cousin had a baby last year and my sister goes to parties and acts like a normal teenager. They can do whatever they want and it's okay but I can't do anything without getting yelled at. Also my cousin moved in with her boyfriend and my sister is looking at a college to move in to, but my family talked me into stay at home and commuting. My almost 30 year old daughter lives in my house, and everyday there is something negative she is saying about me. She calls me disrespectful, and rude. Last night she called me abusive. She is very impatient with me, got snippy with me yesterday morning and I said she can go by herself, and wished her a nice day. Simple grocery shopping trips are becoming a hassle because she is critizing me what I buy, what i eat etc. So I am choosing to get my groceries delivered to my house. I really am at the end of my rope. I feel my grandmother is wonderful but my mother is like hyper loyal to her mother. When I go see my father and step-mother on a holiday my mother gives me hell for not waiting until a few days after out of fear I will anger my grandmother. When my grandmother on the other side of the family was ill she got mad I missed my grandmother on my mother's side's Easter dinner (my paternal grandmother was dying). If my grandmother on my mother's side needs help with something my mother gets terrified if I can't get straight there to help (I am 24). I think my grandmother is very sweet and is not scary. She can be a little irritated if holidays don't go her way but I have never seen her be mean. My mother fears her though like she is some temperamental person prone to violence or rage. So my question is now that it effects me, like on Christmas I dreaded the annual confrontation that I am daring to see my Dad and spend 6 hours instead of 8 hours with my maternal grandmother. So how do I get this not effect me? Also, what could be causing it? I am told my maternal grandfather who died when I was two was very strict so could it be some fear he put in my mother's head? My mother has always done this so it is not age related

I just want to be honest but my mother tells me not to be and has a script for me to say covering up so no one knows he is in jail. I am worried I will be judged when people find out I was lying for my mother. What do I do? They need their beauty sleep after working a hard day. I don't think I can make it quietly because there are a lot of noisy things in the kitchen. For example, the refrigerator has a loud sound whenever someone closes it. Another one is that the cabinets didn't get oil on the sides—they're really loud if you close one (even if you gently close one, they still make a loud squeak). We never put oil in them. Well, the stove is semi-okay. The pantry door still makes a lot of noise. My parents are going to decide if they could put oil on it.

I am about to turn 59. I'm a mother of two and been married to my husband for 34 years. My oldest son is 28, youngest one is 25. And I have a nephew who's 27 and basically my own. Me and my oldest just had sex for the first time last week, and I personally don't find my oldest very cute. So I don't think it will happen again though. Now my nephew and I? I got in a argument with my teacher, she said some stuff that really hurt me. I lost my temper and told her that she needed to shut up. (I know that it was very disrespectful of me to say and it's not acceptable, and I can only blame myself.) My teacher ended up calling my parents. My mom was really disappointed, but my dad was mad and started yelling at me. I told him that i thought that it would be better if he calmed down so we could have a normal conversation. My dad thought that I was disrespecting him because I didn't look him in the eyes. (I have a hard time looking people in the eyes, my parents know this). He grabbed my arm and it really hurt so I asked him if he could let my arm go, but he didn't stop, so i pulled my hand back. He got really angry and pushed me against the wall and hit me a few times in the face, i was really scared at this moment because I've never seen him this mad. He told me that the next time that I disrespect him or any other adult again he would hit me harder than this. My mom told me that it's my fault that he got so mad because i was pushing his buttons. I really dont understand why he got so mad. I know that telling a person to "shut up" is really disrespectful and not acceptable, but thats the only thing that I did? Okay, so this is a REALLY long and twisted story- Okay, so I had a crush on this boy. Let's call him Jake. My friend, Alison, knew I liked Jake, so she gave me his number. I am a 17 year old male and I don't have many friends my age. I mostly hang out with my cousin (12) and his cousin (19) they both live together with my cousins dad. So I am a 14 year old girl, living with my dad and grandmother. My dad is a single parent, and hasn't dated anyone since he divirced my mom 11 years ago. My mom is overseas, and I'm gonna go study in there one week from now on. I still remember clearly what happened, amd I wanna cry for that now. I am indeed scared. The next day, I remember I ran out of the hospital. It was snowing, but I ran as fast as O could. My dad was following me behind, but I woke up as soon as he caught me. Also, my grandma was awake when that happened. I screamed loudly for help, but nobody helped me. My grandma just stood there and looked. She said it's the only way for her to be safe. Now, what the hell does all of these mean? Also, my dad really touched my head and hugged me a lot last night... He never molested me, as I remember. I know he really cares about me.

He's a widower after my daughter's passing due to a complication with her second pregnancy. Our only grandson (a boy) is now 4.5. My son-in-law is 30 and now starts dating again. He's an engineer who travels a lot (I don't know why; many engineers don't), although he does have a middle-aged nanny to watch the kid. Once I asked my son to speak with him about leaving the kid with us, but my son-in-law refused. I later found out through their email correspondence that he said he doesn't want the kid to have "bad influence" from me. I'm a normal granny, but the way he said it, it's as if I'm a white trash living in a trailer. Honestly, I think our grandson would fare better living in our home in New Jersey than in a 2-bedroom apartment in NYC! (My husband also adores the kid but he told me to be left out of this b/c he doesn't want to fall out with our son-in-law). Since Christmas our grandson starts having scratches on his knees and palms and both the nanny and the dad said it's b/c he's got a new kid-scooter. I tried to sit down with my son-in-law but he never lets me do anything with the kid. He's a silent type and I always think there's nothing worse b/c we can't know what he thinks, ever. He was better when our daughter was alive but now we're so uncomfortable with each other. Our grandson is a quiet one and every time I asked he only says, "Dad's okay", and refuses to be questioned. Do I have reasons to worry?

She is 28 yrs old, ever since she started dating a guy 8 months ago, she has been showing signs of very strange behavior. The first clue was that when she would visit with him, he would go into the bathroom and stay in there for a good 30 minutes or more with the water running and the bathroom fan switch on. Me and my dad thought this was very strange, but they said it was because he had stomach issues. My sister and her bf lost their apartment because they both didn't have jobs. She also lost her 5 year old daughter recently to go live with her bio dad in another state, because she couldn't afford her. They moved into her bf's mom's house for awhile, until one day we got a call asking if my sister can come stay with us to get away from him - every time we would call, she would sound super sketchy and would be around him 24/7, it sounded like she was purposely not saying much because he was right there. My dad started getting very worried for her safety around this guy. He's a convicted felon for a fight he had once. Anyway, she came to stay with us for a week and during that week she was extremely hostile, irrational, accusatory, left all the lights on in the house throughout the night, left doors open, fridge doors open, left the shower running for very long periods of time, slept a lot, screamed and yelled at us, says we're the reason she lost her kid. After a fight tonight, she left with him. She left the bathrm fan on, front door unlocked, all the lights on. Drugs?? he has a history of heroin abuse.
