Question: Weddings uncomfortable !? Posted: 16 May 2015 10:31 PM PDT Hi , I keep getting invited to weddings with my husband and he's always a groomsmen which is great . I will be fine but mad and frusterated all day and in a bad mood at the wedding and end up bawling out of no where , this has happened at 3 weddings I've gone to ?! I never know why I'm crying the only thing I could think of is that my parents of 18yrs of marriage split but I'm married and had a Wedding no problem .. Any suggestions why this would be happening !? I typically sit alone because my husband is at the head table child that be it ? |

Question: How can I let family members know I am getting married, but that they aren't invited? Posted: 16 May 2015 06:54 PM PDT Long story short, my SO and I want a small wedding, but have a large family. We are having a destination wedding in the hopes that some of the people invited will decline, and simply attend the "reception" (casual party for family & friends) when we return. However, there are several members of my family that I have a very tumultuous relationship with, and we don't even want to take the risk of inviting them. I don't want to snub them altogether, because that will start a family feud and I don't want the stress of dealing with that during what should be a happy time for my SO and I. Is there an appropriate way to let family know that we are having a wedding but their presence is only "requested" at the after party? Perhaps the use of the words "private wedding"? It's important to mention that I'd like to invite SOME of that part of my family, just not all, so if there's a way to accomplish that, any input would be much appreciated! |
Question: Paper napkins at a formal engagement party? Posted: 16 May 2015 06:00 PM PDT Generally in my culture, everything is over-the-top and extravagant. There are a few banquet halls that most people use that have package deals to accommodate all the tables, chairs, linens, tableware, catering, bar, etc... I am throwing an engagement party for approximately 130 people, but none of those venues were available. Long story short, moving the date was not possible, so I went with this GORGEOUS venue that was way more expensive than the other halls. The issue is that everything needs to be rented separately... chairs, tables, linens, tableware, etc. and the cost is continuing to climb. My engagement party is costing nearly double what my friend paid just a few months ago. I have a family friend that is letting me borrow her china and flatware for dinner, and we are using the thick, clear, plastic plates for appetizers and dessert (everything is buffet style). I was going to rent cloth napkins, but it's coming out to an additional $100. This place is already expensive as it is. Would it be tacky to use paper napkins? And if not, does anyone suggest where I could find beautifully designed ones for cheap? I'm worried because I don't typically see paper napkins at the weddings/engagement parties I've been to. |
Question: My fiance got me the wrong ring? Posted: 16 May 2015 04:49 PM PDT he got me a ring that was $2600 without me knowing what it looked like and it just happened to be the kind of ring that i really hate. The place won t take it back. whats the best way to get a full or close to full refund? |

Question: I have to go to a Vegas wedding, am I suppose to bring a gift? Posted: 16 May 2015 02:24 PM PDT My fiance's brother is getting married in Vegas in a casino, they're in they're late 30's, first marriage for both. My fiance isn't part of the wedding party. The hotels are from $125-$300 per night and we have to drive 4 hours there. Are we suppose to bring a gift or is our presence enough? We would have to stay 2 nights minimum. |

Question: Is it too late to decline a wedding I already RSVP'd yes to? Posted: 16 May 2015 01:15 PM PDT I have this wedding on Friday I was supposed to bring my girlfriend to but we broke up. Needless to say I don't have a date nowt. My best friend (or so I thought) doesn't think he can go anymore (he really is an idiot) even though he RSVP'd yes. So now I'm stuck going alone and have no idea if I'll know anyone else. I think it would be rude to back out so last minute... What do you think? |

Question: Is it rude to say "please no gifts" on our wedding invitations? Posted: 16 May 2015 10:27 AM PDT My fiancé and I have been together for nearly 10 years, and we have 21 month old triplet girls. We don't need or want anything in the way of gifts at our wedding. We have all of the material things that we will ever need. Is it rude to put "please no gifts" on our wedding invitations? |

Question: Buying an engagement ring on etsy? Posted: 16 May 2015 08:52 AM PDT Please someone give me some feedback on this! It is such a big purchase.... Especially online! I am seriously thinking of buying a engagement on esty. It is my dream ring! My fiancé is all for it but I am a bit hesitant.. I have read all the reviews, return policy, blah blah blah... But it is a huge purcase and has so much meaning behind it.. And I will be wearing it everyday for the rest of my life. Has anyone else made a big purchase like this on esty? Most of the reviews I have read are of people like me worrying about such a big purcase online.. But when they got their ring they couldn't be more happy! Feedback, personal experience, and opinions are greatly appreciated !! Thank you!! |
Question: Wedding etiquette? Do I bring a gift as a plus one when my "date" is in the wedding party? Posted: 16 May 2015 08:50 AM PDT Hi, everyone. So my coworker is a bridesmaid in a wedding for one of her best friends back home, three hours away. She invited me as her plus one because she is not in a relationship and we are close friends. Even though I will not know anyone but my coworker, I agreed to to be her plus one because, well, why not? It'll be fun and I'll meet some of my coworker's friends. I've only been to one wedding before this one, so I'm not sure if I should bring a gift for the bride and groom, who I don't know? At the very least, I would like to make a nice card for them, as I am only 23 years old and don't have a lot of money, so I don't really want to spend a lot of money on a gift for a couple I don't know. Also, the bride and groom are 22 years old, and so is my coworker, so it's a young crowd. Also, since my coworker is a bridesmaid, she has already given the bride & groom a gift at the bridal shower, so we won't be giving a wedding gift together. I'm just not sure if I should bring a gift as a plus one. |
