Recently, with tests coming up, all she has made time to talk to me about is school. I've messaged her countless times in the past week trying to change the subject, bringing up random things that have nothing to do with school and she completely ignores them most of the time. i.e. I sent her a message today talking about how much I enjoyed rainy weather and how it was calming (yes random, i know) and expected her to respond to that. However, she just asked me "Did you finish studying?" and went ahead and asked me to send her what I used to study... I miss talking to her about normal things. She even admitted she spent the majority of her day not studying and on her phone... which is why I'm a little confused as to why she hasn't messaged me at all and when I made an effort to, she just talked about school. Do you think I should just wait until these tests are over and then start talking normally with her? I'm getting slightly irritated at the fact that all she seems to want to talk about or want from me is studying material. Thank you! |

They don't really know each other and when it was prom it was really awkward between them. Me and her didn't know anyone in his group and there were some issues where I had to drive to my friend's group who she's also friends with about 20 minutes away so it wasn't weird. Me and her were stuck with my friend's group and it was just my friend, her, and me talking with each other while we didn't talk to anyone else. She's really talkative and she asked to take pictures with me(although she took pictures with like 2 other guys). Me, her and my friend stuck together the whole time and us 3 danced together. She was really fun to dance with while dancing - me and her were really into the singing and we would look at each other while singing the lyrics. I was always there to talk, and even though she didnt tell me until she couldnt hold it in anymore i was there for her because i did and still do care. Latley my anxiety has sky rocketed and she hasnt noticed or seemed to care. She has been going through stuff too and im there for her every moment and constantly ask how she is but it is not returned. I texted her last night at 2 am because i couldnt sleep because i was so stressed (i dont even know why). i admitted to her this had been happening for a few weeks and she asked why i hadnt told her, but she didnt seem to do anything else? i realized this morning it was because she was at a sleepover with our mutual friend (i actually told this person to be extra nice to my friend because she was down in the dumps). i understand she was busy but i have not gotten a text all day? this has been happening for years, me asking for her to check on me and just be there for me, but she has never done so. i love her and we are constantly saying how we are friends forever and morails (bffs for beyond life) but i dont know what to do anymore. When I approach them they never pay attention and don't laugh at my jokes. But when I talk to my cousin, she always smiles laughs and pays attention without me having to repeat myself. The other day I had an anxiety attack as I have an inner conflict with myself. Then everybody asked me if I was okay and if I needed help and that they are there for me. I tried to kill myself once and ended up in the hospital, and the school told me not to come for a few days as everyone was agitated. When I returned, nobody asked me if I was okay, they treated me like ****. I invited 20 people to my birthday and only 2 went. Out of those. 2, I dislike one and the other just ignores me. Funny because the school psychologist told me that people didn't want me to kill myself (suffer from depression), but people call me creepy, stupid. They tweet about me, they hang out without inviting me. And if I invite them, they always say no and come up with dumb excuses and later i see them with others. I am more mature for my age, my psychiatrist told me that for a 16 year old I behaved like a 25yo. I approach and talk to everybody the same way my friends do, cause I was told that this would help. No. My cousin who is 16 says that im a fun guy and I say the same comments around her and act the same way around her the same way I act around others but she cant be with me 24/7 even though she'd like to. It's an inner city school with a high drop out rate and a ton of the kids there are on food stamps and stuff. But I don't discriminate and am nice to everyone no matter what. Im a softball player and a honors student, and I'm a very classy african girl. I live in a nice residential neighborhood, my family makes a nice amount of cash, we have a beautiful care. He has these bald spots on the back of his head and people at school Everyday were calling him patches, dalmation, And he was stressed out and embarrassed. He didn't want to go to school over this, So I went to the princiapal didn't do anything at all!!!! Also there's a cop there I also went to him, he said Ignore! Now these people don't know how to do their freaking job. An ways its summer break, cyber bullying, on the last day of school, these 2 girls took a video of him and they were sayim he was picking his nose (he wasn't) He was itching his nose. And they said "look at his head" And laughing a lot. So I didn't go to sleep until 2am. I an so tired and stressed out. So someone took a screenshot about me standing up for my brother, making fun of me for standing up for him. Anways I've had enough with this its stressing me out. I just don't know what to do. | Question: Roommate taking over apartment? Posted: 31 May 2015 02:23 PM PDT It's a new apartment for both of us. We are renting from my dad, and I have done 98% of the cleaning and painting. HOWEVER, she moved in first. I am starting to move my stuff in now (a couple weeks later), and she is moving more and more of her things into the common areas. For example, she has stuff filling the entryway closet, leaving me a tiny sliver of space. She also installed shelves in the laundry room, and filled them with stuff. She is storing a large dog crate (she doesn't have a pet), crutches, air mattress, etc. in there as well. I am looking around, wondering where we will put stuff like crock pots and mixer, as her stuff is everywhere! She has also taken it upon herself to organize a few kitchen things of mine, mixing our stuff all together. I think I would prefer separate cabinets. I asked a few friends, and they said part of rooming with someone is dealing with their crap everywhere. Others say she is testing her boundaries to see what she can get away with. So where do you draw the line? She can store stuff anywhere, as long as it takes up no more than 50% of the space? I have purchased things like wall organizers for mops, brooms, ironing board/iron, but she is storing stuff on top of the washer/dryer. Please help me know what is reasonable, so we can sit and chat! |

| Question: Childhood Ex-best friend told someone something private about my mom? Posted: 31 May 2015 02:15 PM PDT I'm a senior girl in highschool. The other day in my advisory class this girl that I've known since kindergarten that sits at my table asked me out of nowhere, "so does your mom still smoke pot?" I asked her how the heck did she know that information, and she told me "kylie allen" (not her real name) told her. "Kylie" was my best friend from kindergarten to 7th grade. Middle of 8th grade we drifted apart. Somewhere towards the end of our friendship when we were older my mom told her she smoked pot. Kylie used to hate this girl in my advisory, but she became a totally different person after we drifted apart and became best friends with her. I was never very close with this girl either, I don't like her really, I just tolerate her. She is not someone that I would want to know that about my mom. Now I am curious to know if Kylie told anyone else that my mom smokes pot (which is true) or any other secrets I had shared with her years ago that would embrrass me now. I am baffled that she would tell someone something private about my mom like that. I thought she valued our old friendship. How should I go about this situation? Do I find Kylie and confront her? Do I let her get away with it since we are about to graduate and I won't see her anymore? Oh and we didn't have a horrible fight or a falling out. Like I said we simply drifted apart, no hard feelings. |
| Question: Should I be embarrassed by this? Posted: 31 May 2015 02:13 PM PDT I live in a very small town, so I have to drive about 45 minutes to an hour to even get to a decent-sized city. My church is an hour away, and that's where all of my friends are from. All of the friends I have live in the same city as my church, which is approximately 50 minutes to an hour away from my house. I always feel so embarrassed when people ask me where I live and I always try to dodge the question by saving something like, "I'm from Neverland" or some other non-existent place. I'm quite embarrassed by the town that I live in, the population is literally 600 people. We have a school in the city I live in, but I do not attend it - I'm homeschooled. I'm always in the city where my church is, it just takes me an hour to get there. Is an hour drive bad? Is it bad that I live an hour away from where my friends and my crush live? Should I be embarrassed about it? |

But we did a lot of drugs together and since she moved 50iles away I've managed to stay clean. Well last week she called me and invited me out to the bar and said she'd pay. I drove there, then she just needed me to drop by her friends house ' real quick ' to get something ( I suspect drugs but can't say for sure). I drove her around for 3 hours using my gas and to top it off when we finally got to the bar as originally planned, she was short and asked me to pitch in $20 ( I only had a $10 worth of DRINKS). So she asked me to come out again last night. I said ok, said I'd be there and just never showed. I ignored her texts and calls and told myself ' you can be done playing the fool if you want and just walk away RIGHT NOW. You owe her NOTHING'. I've NEVER been so rude before but... She was obviously using me thinking I was too nice / dumb to know. So I decided to go out a bang and leave her stranded. I'm living my life right now...I just don't need that abuse anymore. |

Lately all that's really been on my mind is wanting to have friends and/or a girlfriend. To be honest it's hard to find good friends these days. Friends that clique. I know I'm still young being in my early 20's but for some reason at this point it just seems pointless to have friends or try to make them. Everyone just seems so self-absorbed and are either doing their own thing or are just simply too busy to even think about you or what you're doing. Thing is I can't tell whether people like or hate me sometimes. I really just don't know what's expected of me. I'm sitting waiting for people to come to me and that's just not happening. I don't know if I was meant to play the leader role or what when it comes to making friends. But it sort of seems that way to me. I just don't know what it is. Should I just give up on this? We immediately became good friends due to our personalities. We weren't like normal girls in a sense that neither of us liked the 'drama' aspect. Neither had social media. We didn't use 'fangirl terms.' We were literally the OTP lesbian couple-Though we weren't really in a relationship. We were in all the advanced classes our school has offered since 5th grade.( Although, I always got better scores than her.) Recently, only a few nights ago, we were Kikking and she brought up the fact that everyone likes something a week after she introduces it to them and they hated it. Of course, I knew she was taking about me and a band that she liked. Basically, I ignored it but she blew it up and it became a full-on argument. She insulted me, calling me a *****. We stayed up until 1 AM fighting back and forth until the argument became her flipping out because my personality has changed since 4th grade. Truthfully, I have changed. But she argued that I changed more and that I became a *****. Yes. I have become a *****. I yelled at her for picking on the laughing stock of the grade-my ADHD ridden cousin. I told her about how the popular girls called me a slut and complained about it. She claimed I was turning into the girls I complained about. The next morning, I texted and told her I was sorry. She hasn't responded and I have school tomorrow. Help! |

We graduated last year, and I tried to like "slowly fade away from her" but she never got the hints. She's a nice girl and has good intentions, but she's annoying sometimes because she complains about everything and doesn't have original thoughts. For example, I'll post a status on Facebook that says something like, "I hope everyone has a good time at prom tonight!" and then she'll post the exact same thing, just changing a few words. She whines about everything, and it gets exasperating. Also, whenever we go somewhere, I always have to drive and pick her up and she never offers to pay for gas or give me anything in return. Like she's a nice girl and I don't mind being like Facebook friends and stuff, but I don't really want to hang out. She asks me to hang out like almost every day and I either have to ignore her or make up some lame excuse and I feel bad. My excuse was always that I was busy with college (which was true) but now school's out for the summer, so I have much more free time. I don't want to hurt her feelings, but I just have no desire to hang out. What/how should I tell her? |
| Posted: 31 May 2015 12:44 PM PDT My friend and her baby son were kicked out of a shelter that they were staying at. She was staying with a friend, but it wasn't working out. I said I could house her TEMPORARILY when she first got kicked out, and after the problems with her friend, she asked me. I told her that I don't have another bed, but I have a couch. I said she could stay a week, because I am in transitional housing, and the agency I'm going through only allows people to stay 5 days a month or I could lose my housing. So I was already risking my housing for her. (They know because they have a site monitor come and check in once a day to make sure everything's good.) I said if she stayed more than 5 days, she'd have to run out the back door if the site monitor came over. And she'd have to go through being an "approved visitor" process. She replied, as this was over text, "It sounds like you don't want me there. I'll look somewhere else." I got really mad because she made this whole thing about me. If I didn't want her there, why would I open up my place to her, risk my housing for her, and etc.? I was doing a very generous thing and she made it feel like I was the bad guy, sort of. I said, "You know what, I'm doing a very nice thing for you. And you're making it sound like it's about me not wanting you to be here? That sounds pretty rude and ungrateful." She then told me how "a week wasn't ****" and kept trying to make me feel bad. I don't know. Was I in the wrong here? Ali, you are absolutely right, many people have mental health issues not being treated who are homeless. 1 in 4, actually. I don't know about her having mental health stuff. I know her husband is also homeless, and he lives across the street at the mens shelter. From what I understood is that they were living in a house together, but her husband got arrested for dealing drugs and she was a heroin addict at the time. They are both clean now, but drugs and mental health coincide quite a bit. |
