I think I'm using the the fact that he had issues at the time to somehow convince myself that we're right for each other it was just bad timing. We had only been dating a week but the night we broke up I was completely shattered. I don't know why it hit me so hard but it did. Anyway after that we were still friends. Things were a little rocky sometimes but we talked a lot. We also flirted a TON. We got so close to getting back together so many times but it never happened. He's always begging for me to hang out with him, but goddamn if I honestly can't stand the guy. This guy sees literally everything and everyone as being against him, and thinks I want to hear him go on and on about how miserable it all makes him. Basically he's an emotional leach. Beyond that there's a lot of other things that bother me. For starters he's incapable of having sympathy for others. If someone else has a bad experience it's like he needs to remind everyone that he's somehow in more pain than that person. Then there's his tendency to whine about everything anyone's doing. He'll want to go out with us just to complain about what we're doing, while constantly bring up that he wants to go home. Every other conversation is him bringing up things no one wants to hear about, like how he tried to commit suicide when he was a teenager. I want to feel sympathetic for the guy. I'm not even going to pretend that I understand how awful the world must seem to someone with depression. But honestly there's a limit to how much I can pity just one person. I think what bothers me most is that he won't even try to fight his condition. Hell, you hear about guys who were born with no arms or legs still finding ways to climb mountains. Meanwhile this guy acts like it's too tough to walk outside to get the mail. Would it be wrong for me to distance myself from this guy? |

That is the first thing they want to know about me. As soon as I tell them I am only a student, they lose all interest in talking to me. This is an example of being punished for telling the truth.
