| Question: Friendship problems? Posted: 28 Apr 2015 05:23 PM PDT I ve always been a rather reserved and introverted person, so I have a small group of friends. The problem is, most of them are extroverts and are very social with other people, and this often leaves me feeling very left out. In particular, I ve been best friends with one girl since kindergarten. She s very outgoing and social and I m a very sensitive person, so oftentimes I feel like I get ignored and left out quite a lot. Lately, however, I feel as though she has been leaving me out of things more and more, things where she ll invite the whole group of friends; except me. Whenever we re with our group of friends now she always brushed off our conversations like she doesn t want to be talking with me and she s always finding ways to try and separate me from the group, such as sending me to get something or talk to someone. Instead of friendly, our conversations just seem rather tense now, and I can t figure this all out. I m not sure what this means exactly. I ve tried talking to her about it and she says things along the lines of "I m sorry, I didn t mean to" and "You re my best friend, I care about you", but even though she says these things, the way she keeps acting doesn t have me convinced. With my humble nature, I keep forgiving her each time, but I m not sure how long I can endure this. I m wondering if I should start pulling away, but I don t want to make a scene, and I don t really have any other friends that I m close enough to who I can go to. Suggestions? |

Unfortunately 'cause high school, this spread around like wildfire and most people are on my side and/or remaining neutral. But I still feel upset over it and the guilt is setting in. This kid needed a wake-up call as to what a dick he's become and the only two people supporting him are his girlfriend's older sister and a friend of mine who hasn't experienced his mean ways. I get that the gf's older sister is po'd because "apparently this fight is affecting her lil sister's relationship" but the thing is, I've heard from the gf that she's more upset with her bf than she is ME, because I'VE tried to keep her out of this so I can stay friends with her. But now I've got a senior on my freshman butt and it sucks because it's already the end of the school year and the BS I've tolerated and the stupid frustration this whole thing has brought up just pisses me off, but I just need to remember what my counselor/english teacher told me -- that she understands absolutely what I'm getting at and this is an issue of BS and maturity lacking on his part. |

After the class I felt like crying that's why I didn't talk a lot because of I talk I start crying so I just kept my mouth shut the whole day until the end of the day. Posted: 28 Apr 2015 04:10 PM PDT Well, I was walking down the hallway with my friend and we started laughing, and this girl, Tanasia or TanAsia or whatever, I glanced at us as she walked over to her friends, what she said was hurtful, considering that I was emotional and sensitive, and I've never been called names since 5th grade, but, she looked at either my friend and I and said, "That girl looks retarded." And her friends started laughing. I felt my laughter die down and noticed that my friend didn't hear. What I hate was that I couldn't stop thinking about it, there were these other times were she tried to scare me, which she has. For example, evey girl was in line for food and once I came out with the tray of food, I walked over to my table and when she suddenly appeared and walked right beside me, either glaring at me or staring me while our arms touched. It lasted a few seconds but it honestly felt like hours. There was also this encounter where I was walking with my tray when she said something like, "Boo!" or something while she was waiting in line. She honestly pisses me off and sometimes scares the hell out of me. I honestly don't want to get in a fight wih her considering she has been in fights in which she obviously won in and she is much, much taller than me. What's sad is that I worry too much when she does these things and it gets me really worried and nervous. Please help! |

That's fine whatever (its not but it's not the point of my post). Anyway she recently decided that we cannot have the AC in our apartment past 75 degrees because she can't afford it. I am all for making sure that we make sure that we're being frugal with our money and taking care of the environment but I do feel that this is unreasonable. We live in Southern California and have yet to feel what the conditions will be like in our apartment. She recently has said that we will have to start splitting the cost of AC in a way that will reflect our use of the AC. Uhhh not ok to me. Especially because I work 12 hours every day and am hardly home on the weekend but she is home most days sitting on the couch watching tv for hours on end as well as constantly leaving lights on and using utilities more. I do think that it's important for me to contribute the same out despite my not being home thus why I clean regularly (as per her request) and have yet to mention her tv and utility use. I don't want to have an argument with this girl but I do think that she's being unreasonable. I don't know though maybe someone could give me some insight... Also, we have 1 other roommate who is her best friend and generally agrees to rules that she sets. |

He can be nice, but most of the time he's not. I never say anything mean to him. But he takes every little thing and somehow turns it into an insult. He's constantly calling me fat, ugly, bland, and stupid. I'm not any of those things. For example: I'll be standing there looking at the sky and say something like "the clouds are so pretty today" and he'll respond with "nah not really they're kind fat and puffy like you." Why does he do this?! It's so annoying!! I'm already self conscious and he's making it worse!! I can't avoid him since he rides the bus I ride. I'm not gonna tell an adult cuz that's not gonna help. It made it even worse when he said "your best friend even said you're a little bit pudgy but she won't tell you to your face." Great. Posted: 28 Apr 2015 03:20 PM PDT ever since ive moved to a new school, i feel like Ive become all my "friends" third wheel or their second choice. like if a group of people are going out, they talk about in front of me and then after the fact say "oh addie, do you wanna come?" its not like this happened once, its every time. i never hang out with one person individually, its always with a group. i feel like they just have to invite me because i have no other friends to hang out with and they pity me. my mom ever has to tell me to hang out with my friends, but i genuinely don't like to. they make me feel bad about myself and always leave me out of conversations or laugh at me whenever i say something even the slightest bit dumb. ( i mean, who doesn't say stupid things sometimes?) i just feel like my life is dragging along and i don't have a real friend to really confide in or be close to. please don't tell me to make new friends or get involved in my school extracurriculars (I've already done that, i do track and I'm in a honor society club). i just don't want to live like this anymore, especially not for the next 3 years of high school. |

They seem decent enough and they already gave me their address, I m just unsure of giving out mine. Is there any implications or anything bad that could happen, like identity stolen or something? I m not really afraid of them coming over from Russia to kill me or abduct me, just a little leery. Also, I'm not a minor, I'm 22. I looked into a PO box, but unfortunately I can't afford that right now. |
| Question: Has my pessimism ruined my freindship? Posted: 28 Apr 2015 02:48 PM PDT so im in college and i live with to of my close friends. us 3 are also really close with someone on our floor. she was super nice to all of us, however my pessimism kicked in and i kinda texted some things that i shouldn't have said. I always texted her if she really is my friend and why she treats me different and why she doesn't like me and yada yada. I usually only brought it up like once a month, but she recently got really mad at me because i brought it up again. she told me i am still her friend, but i just need to leave her alone for awhile. and i have been for 2 or 3 weeks now, and she is still avoiding me really bad and inviting my other 2 friends to do things with her without me. I spent a lot of time thinking what is wrong with me and how this started for many months, but i never thought i was a pessimist, i kept saying it was other things and the only reason it started was because of really deep things, but it wasn't. i found a few days ago it is because im a pessimist, and i havent always been like this. I used to be super happy until my sophomore year, i read a quote, it said "I always expect the worst, so i can never be disappointed with my results" and at the time i loved that quote and decided to live my life based off of it, and suddenly all of my ways changed. but im better now. what I am trying to ask is, what should i do to get her to see i'm not like i used to be anymore. apologizing won't work cuz she is tired of that from me. |

I have plenty of friends but I only look up to her. It's not even because of her personality. It just happened automatically. I think it's a problem because she has the ability to influence me too much. Like whenever she has a certain perspective of something, i would instantly agree with her. And when she is interested in something I would show interest immediately in the same thing. When she compliments others and not me I get jealous. I have a tendency for her to like me as a friend. He went away for college and I stayed in the city, I visit him like twice each semester. he and his girl made a year two months ago. we were Cool, but as of recent his girl has some sort of animosity towards me and I have no idea why. She's completely rude to me infront of everyone and I dont pay no mind to it for the sake of their relationship and my own with my "brother". This is all of a sudden I am never mean, rude, or disrespectful to her. I confronted my bestfriend and told him that I was uncomfortable being in the same space with her and asked why does she have this negative attitude everytime I enter the room. he said "its not that she doesn't like me, its that she doesn't like us together." which to me makes no sense. I literally am a good person to everyone I meet and have no problems with anyone so why is she being so nasty? I was told to give him space and ive been trying successfully. He knows me like the back of his hand and he is suspecting that something is wrong. he is coming back from school in three weeks and I don't know what to do after these three weeks. My friend doesn't make rape jokes all the time, but when she once she does, she doesn't stop. When we got to high school, we were still friends but everyone kind of broke off into another friend group as well, except for me. I've made a couple friends, but we don't talk outside of school or hang out outside of school, like my other friends do with their new friend groups. So what am I doing wrong? How did my other friends make so many new friends and I didn't. I would consider myself pretty shy but I try my best to make conversation and stuff. | Question: Rooming for a school trip? Posted: 28 Apr 2015 01:23 PM PDT Im a 15 year old girl and some people in my grade are going on a school trip in about a week. The rooms are of 6 people. Me and my best friend are in different rooms, but we want to be together. However, the rooms are all full, and everyone else is also happy with where they are, so nobody will want to switch. Normally I'd be okay with the situation because I have friends in my room, but one person in my room makes me uncomfortable. We are kind of friends, but she has started drinking and sending nudes and stuff that I don't agree with, and I'm scared about what might happen on the trip. I'm confident that I won't give in to peer pressure or do anything wrong, but I don't want to get put in the situation regardless. I also don't want anyone to get in trouble, and I don't want to make a big deal out of it because it's not really my business. My other friends know, but I don't want to spread it, so I don't want to tell anyone. Does anyone have any ideas about how to switch rooms or find a way to be comfortable where I am?
