If there are three of us around and we need to get into partners, the other two pair up leaving me with no one. Many times if I'm talking, my friends will ignore me. I am a quiet person usually and not super friendly (I am polite though) and I'm not popular. Teachers will come up to me and ask, almost tauntingly, "where are your friends? "Or "why don't you join another group...do you need help joining one?" I don't mind working by myself but I hate it when people make fun of me for being alone. Sometimes I feel no one truly likes me. Almost like the whole world exists to make me feel miserable. Is there anything wrong with me? Thank you for reading this.Sorry, it's almost like a rant. But this has been my whole life and I'm just so tired of it... |

Posted: 10 Apr 2015 05:12 PM PDT I'm a sophomore in high school and I transferred to the high school where I'm at now since freshmen year and it still feels like I'm the "new kid in town". I used to be such a social butterfly growing up until i got to high school. I think it's because of the peer pressure of "fitting in". But I'm usually the one who stands out. I was never the one to do what everyone else is doing. I have a different mindset of things in life and I think this is why also. Like I am a really nice person to EVERYONE but I feel like I'm being taken advantage of because of it and no one takes me seriously. Being yourself is not enough in this generation and IDK who else to be anymore. So, what can I do to make at least one good friend? |
| Question: Why are people so overly sensitive? Posted: 10 Apr 2015 05:07 PM PDT I swear to God some people bring this "respect" thing to a level as if I have to treat them like some kind of God. It is straight up annoying. For example, I was borrowing someone's phone, and the person on the other line only had 3 minutes till they went back to lunch break. I talked for a minute and 30 seconds and the person who lent me their phone was pestering me saying "I'm not gonna have time for this blah blah blah" so I said "I better give this phone back, so and so is being a nutcase and giving me dirty looks" then I am given this lecture about how I am disrespectful and degrading. Yet they don't give a **** about saying stuff about me! Why are people like this? It's like people purposely look for every chance they can possibly find to make someone feel like ****. When someone says something stupid to me like "You're a nerd" or "asshole" in the hallways at school, I just say "Rather be a nerd than someone who can't pass an easy math test" or "I know you are". People throw insults around, and I rarely directly insult people. I don't bully anyone, I'm not that type of person. So why are people so over-sensitive? Because honestly it is a huge pain in the ***. |

Posted: 10 Apr 2015 05:04 PM PDT This year im in a new class with my cousin, we both get along and the others in class i dont talk to, but some of them will say "good morning" if i am alone and they pass me, but thats about it, there is one guy that has an issue with me, I am gay and he clearly has to always, laugh at me, point me out to the group he is talking to, in class if the teacher mentions "you girls at the back" cause i am seated next to 4 girls, he will be like "lol girls, josh is one of them" just pathetic things, that are nasty, i already told one of the teachers regardless so she knows he isnt mature at all. BUT... He has a friend he sits next to in class, and i have no idea how i should "socialize" with him because. If im talking to my cousin outside where we are gonna have a lesson, when he arrives he always shakes me hand, and says like one thing or one joke (not about me, normal talk) then walk off and talk to the homophobic one or someone else. If i am leaving the school and he is behind me he will be like "hey lets walk together" then talk to me normally, i sent him a fb request once but he didnt add me, yet he added my cousin who although is in his class... doesnt speak to him Here is what i dont get, if i am alone and he passes by he will talk to me and a couple of times asked if i want to join the others, i did once but the homophobic one was staring at me so weirdly, so im like, should i even acknowledge the "nice" one talking to me? i have anxiety so i cant make a scene what to do My question: How should i act? when he comes up to me and goes to shake my hand he kinda giggles when he says hi to me, should i walk away with an angry look on my face? or should i be like "listen i know what you guys say about me?" or just ignore it and continue?? and also for max points tell me ur opinion on his weird behavior.. if he is friends with a homophobe why even speak to me at all?? i dont need pity. |

I have always been the center of attention (not in a bratty way), I just loved making people laugh and all the kids at dance just wanted to listen to what I say because I was funny. Then came this girl named Allison and I was always best friends with her but she was one of the quiet kids. Over the summer, her personality completely changed. She loved to make people laugh and it was sometimes actually really funny. I mean, all the kids at ballet still laugh at my jokes and stuff too, but she is now the complete center of attention. Now don't get me wrong, because I really want to still be friends with Allison and I think she is hilarious, but she kind of took my spot. Even my friends kind of like her more now I think. (They were both me and Allison's friends but I just think they like her more). The only problem with this is that Allison does not want to share the attention, but also all of my friends like her more now and it really makes me sad. For example, we had modern today and we had to choose partners. There were plenty of friends around me, and Allison immedatly chose Olivia and Olivia and I were the best friends in the whole world. The thing is, Olivia loved that. Not that she doesn't like me anymore or anything but I was left completely by myself without a partner and our teacher had to announce it to find a partner for me. I laughed it off though. Any advice? |

| Question: I failed color guard tryouts? Posted: 10 Apr 2015 04:36 PM PDT My friend and I are auditioning for color guard. We are going to be sophomores next year, it's our forst time. The past 2 days have been practice. I was doing really good up until the day of tryouts (today) where I messed up multiple times!! It doesn't help that I was in the "first group" (we auditioned in 2 seperate groups) with all the advanced / returning color guard members. I was nervous and unfocused, and completely bombed it. I watched the second group and they did so good compared to me - and they're new too. I already know I didn't make it, and that my best friend will. They're posting the results Monday. The worst part is I know I could have done so much better than I did. It will be SO embarrassing being the only girl who didn't make it! Everyone knows I was auditioning. :( |

But of course, she declined. She tried to act not jealous but it was really obvious.. She's mad at me, I'm mad at her, this has been the 3rd time this has happened, I don't want to be friends with her anymore.. I don't know how to let her go.. I just don't want to hurt her. :( |

She was doing a Spanish assignment that was due today, and I already did it, so I told her that I would give her mine to do hers off of during her study hall. Unfortunately, I threw up this morning and was really sick and couldn't go to school. I totally forget about the Spanish thing, and I was totally knocked out from being really sick. Then I messaged her that I was really sorry and I said I'm sorry that I'm not there for you all the time when you need help. She responded with what I posted in the picture. She says things sometimes that are always very nice, and gets mad at me really easily. I'm a high school sophomore by the way, so this seems really stupid, but I'm at the point where I don't know what to do. It's frustrating when she's really mean and rude to me, and I always respond calmly and quietly, and the only way to make her less made is to admit that everything is my fault. What should I do? | Question: Should i go to my best friend's grandad's funeral? Posted: 10 Apr 2015 03:55 PM PDT So, my best friend's grandad just died and she wants me to come to the funeral (we're both 14). I never met him, but i feel as though I should go to support her. She's been asked to write/read a euolgy for him and we both suffer from social anxiety, so she wants me there to help her through it. She's also a bit worried she can't do it because it's bringing up alot of bad memories about her father, who died when she was 8. Her mum came up with the idea of me coming, so her family won't find it weird or intrusive. Do you think I should go? I care about her so much, she has helped me through everything (including a suicide attempt- enough said.) and I solve everything for her, but I don't know how to make this better, so I feel as though I should jump at the opportunity to ease her pain a little bit. Do you think I should go? I want her to feel safe and supported and she doesn't really have anyone except me in the way of friends. She means the world to me and I want her to know I love her lots, I feel like actions speak a lot louder than words and this goes beyond me going over at midnight with chocolate to give her a cuddle, you know? My friend and I are both in high school and lucky for us our schools allows us to use electronics during the day at certain times. Such as Homeroom, study hall, passing period, etc. Its convenient if we have to respond to someone quick or want to do homework and listen. My friend on the other hand only sits with his headphones in and doesn't do work he has issues about having homework in on time. So at almost every free period moment we have. Even in Homeroom when its a social period to do whatever, he just listens to music and doesn't talk to anyone not even me. Its frustrating me a lot. Any time when friends can talk he will listen to music and doesn't talk to anyone at all. I can't necessarily talk to him when he is listening he will throw a pissed off emotion at me just cause I wanted to ask him something. I don't know I'm just fed up with it and frustrated since he's done it for all 3 years in school. Whenever I mention that the school could take away electronics he tends to get nervous about that. I don't know what to do anymore he just doesn't want to talk about anything ever it seems. Even when we both go to our Youth Group on Wednesday nights I occasionally see him pull out his MP3 to listen like really??? He's so addicted to it. Sorry about the long text. But about 15 weeks ago I had an injury and haven't been able to climb much. When I am not climning I usually just stay at home. So now that I've been at home a lot due to the injury my mom came up to me and told me I am antisocial and need to make freinds to hang out with. I have plenty of freinds in school but I am just not interested in having out with them outside of school. And I also have plenty of freinds that i clb with but I don't hang out with them unless I am climbing. I fell like my parents think that I am a loner but I am not, I just am really love spending my time climbing and when I am hot home I just prefer to be alone. How do I tell my parents this without making things awkward? |

My friend's boyfriend is the reason I started self-harming because he called me ugly and I got so mad at myself for being dumb enough to think I was pretty that I carved stupid into my leg with a box cutter blade. She is around him constantly and when I look at him I feel my resentment bubbling up inside me and my self-hatred getting worse. I told my friend that he's the reason I started self-harming and she said it didn't matter anymore and said some bullsh*t about how she believes I can beat this. That's when I realized it was my fault because I'm weak. If I ever try to talk to her, he is always there and I feel like I can't be around her anymore because of him. Even when I'm hanging out alone with her she is always texting her boyfriend. Every time I see him or even think of him I just want to hurt myself more and it's practically unavoidable unless I avoid her all together The relationship is dying because she barely talks to me anymore, as I said she's always talking to her boyfriend. A couple months ago we got into a fight. To me it wasn't even a fight, just seemed like another one of those disagreements where we make up a week later. He made me upset over something and just stopped talking to me. I don't think we'll be making up this time. Even though we stopped talking about a month ago, he blocked me on Instagram after I posted a picture. (Nothing bad, just a picture of my new dog. I post pictures on there about twice a year). I also posted something on my snapchat story (nothing annoying either, I post once in a while), and right after, he blocked me on that too. He also blocked me on Facebook and Twitter as well. The thing is, I didn't do anything to upset him. He was the one who made me upset and cry, and decided to stop talking to me. We were still friends on every social media though, until today where he officially blocked me on everything. So is that it? 11 years of friendship down the drain like that? I don't get it and I'm not going to question him about it if he feels that way. But is this even normal? I don't see him in person either. He's in college on the other side of the country. |

But the show is on Sunday and she messages me (Friday night) that she can't go. I LOVE Ed Sheeran and I want to go really bad and all my friends are busy but I am nervous to go alone, haven't gone somewhere like this alone and I don't know if I should or shouldn't go. My dads is saying no because he thinks I'll get bored and feel awkward, but how many times and I going to see a free live show. I don't know what to do I'm really pissed at my friend I don't know what to do. I'm gutted we planned this for weeks a she tells me on the second to last day!! This is the second time she did this the first time she was like let's watch a movie and I said yes. After ten minutes she's like nevermind I don't want to go. Sometimes I feel like she uses me like she never messages first or she hangs with me until she meets other people! Me and my best friend have always been close I've known her since 6th grade and I'm in 10th.We starting hanging out with the other girl in 9th because the friends that she had stop hanging with her, so we did.She didn't like me at the beginning we actually got into a argument because she was bullying and said I said something about someone and they got mad and stop talking to me .( I'm tough ) That was at the end of 9th grade so I just let it go because it was summer. My Best friend text me before school started the next year and asked if I could just let it go and I said yes .(my friend was on my side in the argument ) it's been a few months we were doing fine but one day she had said something about me and said that I was being mean to her to my best friend and I wasn't being mean (recalled what I had done that day and I remember asking her if she want anything because I money and I would've bought her something to eat) my best friend is always laughing with her in class and having fun with her, me in class I'm the one that usually I was paying attention to the teacher . The girl invited my best friend to her house and didn't invite me and when I invite my best friend somewhere I always asks if she wants to come and she always says no but I ask anyways . What should I do sorry if this is really long I just need to get it off my chest .... |

At first i didn't try to do anything special the friendship was great,then something changed and in one day i started to get the fear i will lose her and things like that and i started to do things to make the friendship better and from there i always think about her,when i wake up the first thing is to think about her. So yeah in one day she realized that i was little obssesed,and told me to not contact her because its over,i could't take the lose,and started to contact her didn't ever knew how bad i I harassed her. I would consider us pretty close. I aid for him. So some kid, that I'm not even friends with told him I was going to bring a flask to prom. He believed him over me, even though he's told me on numerous occasions he can't stand the kid and is threatening to go to the school board. Ive never been in trouble in my life let alone in trouble for drinking. So easy to talk to, good hearted, I readily accepted her. But not everyone did. One girl (married one) simply doesn't seem to like her. And it turns out into open hostility. The whole world divides in half, and I'm at epicenter. Everyone looks to me now, wanting to claim my loyalty. Why does life force me to pick side? Why do I have to make this choice?? Posted: 10 Apr 2015 02:21 PM PDT my friend Skye at lunch picked up my juice pouch and started to play with it i didn't want anymore so it was ok with me but she played with the straw a bit (shes the type who will eat after anyone) and she got a waterfall but still it was like whatever then we get to resource class (study hall) i used her sharpener to sharpen my pencils and i had a lollipop on my desk i had a packet that is due soon so i was working on it she picked my lollipop up but i didn't say anything since i was trying to finish my packet then i look over she has my lollipop in her mouth ( she had her mouth open and it was in the wrapper but did end up touching her tongue) she tried to GIVE IT BACK AFTER IT WAS IN HER MOUTH but i didn't take it because thats nasty she ended up eating it so i took her sharpener and put it in my pencil pouch since she took my lollipop she was pulling my pencil pouch saying you gave me the lollipopand her and Kyle (a mutual friend said i was wrong) she got her sharpener back btw and you may think its just a lollipop but my problem is that she would do something like that to my stuff shes just nasty ( she rub my lunchbox on the bathroom floor ,drinks my stuff but even if we stop being friend we have so many mutual friends) i don't know what to do im willing to stop being friends and maybe i need to tell her off to get her to stop but who was wrong me or her let me clarify no eating after someone else is no nasty its unsanitary but in different cases its whatever but i don't like going without due to her touching my food and i get sick very easily which throws me into a state of being very germophobic and i know a lot of people don't like their things being played with on a bathroom floor or people just touching your food once you get up from the table and thats why i fight with her about it so she knows she can't just do it |

My food stamps have not kicked in, so I go to my friend's house to eat when I am finished job searching. Today, I had an interview but I didn't have enough gas to get there. My mother then decides to say I can't get a job because I am always drunk or high. Mind you, I have been off drugs since I was 17 and the last time I was drunk was three years ago. All I asked her for was $10 to help me get there. I was hurt that she would even feel that way. To make things worse, I found out she has told everyone this. It really bothered me, so I talked to a friend who has recently become a prostitute. She told me to to try it, but I don't want to stoop so low. It just baffles me that this may be my only option. Honestly, who wants to tell their husband they used to sell their body when they finally meet him? It just hurts me because I have been babysitting, donating plasma, and cleaning houses just to stay afloat and I am still stuck. What should I do? I feel like everyone is going to look at me funny either way. I just want to make money to pay the bills and get through college. |

He sent me a snapchat saying "I love you" and I kind of just laughed it off, and than after that he said look at snapchat, and it said just kidding. How should I have responded to that if I Like him. | Question: Why can't I make or maintain relationships? Posted: 10 Apr 2015 12:38 PM PDT The strange thing is that this is an issue I just recently began having about a year ago. Before than, I rarely had problems with my social life or trouble making friends/acquaintances.It's seems like nobody's ever interested in being my friend anymore. I've lost at least 90% of all my friends and associate's within the last year alone and I'm clueless as to why. I try to go out and make new friends but everytime I meet a really nice person who I'd like to get to know, they show no interest in me. Most of the time if I text or call someone they ignore my texts or don't pick up the phone. When I try to make plans with people, they either stand me up or make excuses as to why they can't go. I've even gone as far as trying to re-build some old relationships with friends I've had in the past, but like I said, they rarely show interest. When I get the hint that someone doesn't want to be bothered with me, I usually just back off. But it's extremely lonely, not to mention stressful when have no social life and no one cares about you. People are always complimenting my personality and pointing out all these positive attributes they like about me, but if that's the case, then why does no one like me? :( Can someone please help me?! |
