Like a silly, boyish type guy, with big brown eyes and brown hair....like a Robert Downey Jr type of guy, if I could paint a specific picture. Some of my friends are attracted to nerdy guys, or serious guys, or guys with beards and tattoos. Some of my other friends strictly only date black guys, or asian guys, or latino guys. My question is, why do people have different tastes in the opposite (or in some cases same) sex ? Does it have something to do with how you were raised, or outside factors? Or is their some scientific explanation as to why we are attracted to certain people? |

Posted: 26 Apr 2015 02:51 PM PDT I am female, early 20's and my professor is male late 30's to early 40's. I would describe myself as very quiet and shy and don't participate I class discussion( I'm shy), but I do very well on my H.W and quiz. It took me awhile to notice this. On the 1st day of class my professor would always look at me and make strong eye contact. Mind u I sit in the back of the room. The class is at least 30 students. He would always make eye contact with me and maintain it. I would have to be the one to break it. Eventually it got to the point where I stopped looking at him cause it made me very uncomfortable. For awhile I thought it had stopped as he read the signal it was uncomfortable. it seems he never stopped. I was in private thought about a question he asked the class on the H. W and out of nowhere he calls on me and asks me, " are you ok, name"? The other day we were working in groups and he kept gravitating towards me, and studying my face. He focused his eyes on me when another student was asking him a question in the group. Also I couldn't understand something he wrote down and squinted my eyes and he noticed again and came towards me. He even sat right next to me and was sitting very close to the point I couldn't turn to look at him directly. As I was giving my part of the presentation he even looked at me like something inside him lit up In his eyes. What is going on? He's a taken man and I honestly don't find myself to be attractive. So I was trying to rule that out. Also I should mention that I also feel this way too because I had a similar experience with another professor and it turned out he was trying to make sexual advances towards to me. which I rejected!!! He openly asked me if I was "married or single" DURING AN EXAM!!! And would tell me he thinks I'm very pretty. I told family and they said to ignore him and not report it. |

Kids who are 1, 2, and sometimes even 3 years old can't comprehend threats of "grounding" punishment (such as taking their toys away for X amount of time), so that's why I support corporal punishment for young children. Your kid starts screaming in public? Spank them. Still won't shut up? Slap them across the face. Newsflash: kids are NOT special, and when they act up, deserve to be punished just like everyone else. I can't can't how many times I see a baby in public having a meltdown, and wishing so desperately that their parents would just whack them until they shut up. Because honestly...what else works for a kid that young? If you pick them up and coddle them and "shhh" them, that will just teach them that obnoxious behavior will be rewarded with sympathy. Which it SHOULDN'T. Now, obviously, there's a difference between hitting and beating. I of course do not support hurting a kid so bad that they bleed, have to go to the hospital, etc. But a good slap might get their attention! @Zoe Franklin Fair point, but even if we don't hit them, we need to at least yell at them and be firm with them, let them know that public meltdowns are NOT acceptable. So many people just go awwwww, not having a good day, is he/she? Which is ******* ridiculous, in my opinion. There's nothing cute, sad, or funny about it. |

I have clinical depression and nothing has helped me. Therapy, talking to a close friend, medication after medication and nothing works. I just want to live in isolation by myself with no contact of anyone I know. I'm talking no contact. I don't want friends/family to know where I am. I don't want mail. I don't want texts. Nothing, just left alone. I want a small apartment somewhere with a decent paying job by myself. So what I'm asking is how do I change my identity so I can be left alone completely??? Legally. |

I try to ask for help but the teacher doesn't always respond. Anyways because of this I didn't do my work and I eve. Said I took full responsibility. Etc My teacher figured out I didn't do any work! So she made me move. ( that's fine) but she did it in the rudest way possible. She said the other day that she didn't think I was 6 feet tall and that I was more like 5"11 or 5'10 and accused me of lying about my height (I got so self conscious that I measured my height and I'm actually 5'11 and a half and now I feel stupid I never would have intentionally lied to her and I've noticed whenever I dump into something or hurt myself she laughs like its funny. Posted: 26 Apr 2015 11:05 AM PDT I have a 3yr old girl from an ex.I've been in a relationship with my now hubby since my daughter was 15mths Bd has NEVER helped me with her, he was physically abusive to me while I was pregnant. Left me bleeding and with a black eye several times. He would force me to go buy him drugs and if I didn't cone back with any he would hit me, so I would have to wait for 2hrs at times for his dealer. I worked my butt off while pregnant to pay our rent and the other half went straight to savings so I could move back home and not work for a few months and still have money for rent/formula/diapers and other necessities. He did have contact with my daughter and my daughter still loves him. We agreed on how often he'd see her and that he'd give me $75/week back in may 2014 he started fine, then excuses that he couldn't see her or give $$ or just wouldn't show up. He got together with another girl, whom I don't like because she's not stable, had another baby, a girl. And now he never wants to help with mine, mind u I never ask him. He hasnt seen her in about 3months and he has helped financially with about 250 since we agreed last yr. Hell text and call just to harass me, yet he won't help with her because he says I shouldn't expect him to help since he has other responsibilities and I have a husband that can buy my baby stuff. He even told me (before I got married) that if I gave him $3K he's sign over his rights. Do I have enough to legally force him to? I'm in Texas. TIA |

I don't really tell "stories" unless they directly relate to me. For example a time a friend truly backstabbed me, or my roommate has been eating all my food and how do i deal with it, or how my friend wants to date my family member, a friend got in a squabble with my boyfriend and I'm stuck in between, my parents and i are not seeing eye to eye, or if I feel my friend is dating a guy who is being emotionally abusive to her and what i should do. When people ask me what's going on I fill them in with school and work info and if they ask for anything else I talk about things such as this or good things that are happening. Is this considered gossiping because people have told me that this is gossiping? Sometimes I like an outsiders perspective on things. I usually never tell more than 2 people about drama in my life because I hate repeating things again and again like a broken record. It also is easier to not rehash or old drama unless its bothering me at the time. I try not to tell people to much about stuff. If one friend is familiar with my work drama I follow them up with it. Bc a lot of times they ask about the situation. If it's family I let them know about that. I try not to include them into all my drama bc then they might think theres too much going on. So my questions here are do other people find it annoying to hear about other people even if it includes myself? Is this gossiping? |

Posted: 26 Apr 2015 10:16 AM PDT I see it way too much, overly positive people with no stake in reality giving people advice when they know nothing especially about the other persons life. They really screw people up. My example of this is when I was a teen/early 20s I felt I should date, but have always been weird,awkward and just dont like most people. So I asked many question of why I cant date/not attractive/yada yada. And would always get the same overly positive people with all the nonsense saying cliches and indepth way too positive advice, about change and attitude or it will happen someday. But looking back I realize now those Delusional people only screwed me up and kept me thinking "well maybe". It wasnt until I shut it out completely and said thats just not me and its never going to happen that I finally stopped caring/worrying about it. And finally it just didnt really matter to me anymore, because I knew who I was and that relationships just arent for me. Now I rarely ever think of relationships unless I see someone going through the same BS I did. So why do overly positive people screw with people living in REALITY?? |

Posted: 26 Apr 2015 09:50 AM PDT To me there's a fine line between being friendly in a sense of helping a student with school work,guiding them in a academic way and being friendly in a emotional cheating way and she has definitely crossed that line.She has been having causal/friendly conversations with my son for 6 months now and she is cheating on her husband by talking to my son about non school stuff.She has no business talking to my son about non school work and my son has no business talking to this MARRIED teacher about non school work.They are both wrong for this.She has no business allowing my son to visit her classroom and she has no business talking with my son about anything besides school work because she's MARRIED!She's 25 year old and my son is 18 and they both went against God by talking to each other because my son doesn't have class with her anymore.It doesn't matter if she is just being friendly because there's a such thing is emotional friendly cheating which means MARRIED people talking to non family members of the opposite gender about anything that isn't about school/profession stuff.Does this teacher even love her husband anymore? If so,then why would she be having causal/friendly conversations with my son?My so and this teacher have no business being friendly with each other in a non professional academic way. |

No tengo hermanos y a mi y a mi familia nos vienen pasando cosas malas. Empezo mi abuela con un ACV, mi mama muy estresada y mi papa atras. Luego mi otra abuela se cae y se rompe la cadera y el coxis, Tratamos de conseguir que la internen en un hospital. La internacion duro 69 dias y mi abuela pensaba que no podrìa volver a caminar. En ese momento tambien a mi papa lo hechan del trabajo y queda en la calle con 58 años. Bueno por mi parte en paralelo. estaba conociendo a una chica pero no la estaba pasando bien porque me llevaba a hacer cosas que no querìa y yo me dejaba seducir por su aspecto fisico y por no quedarme solo. Queria a apostar a que ella cambiarìa. Me obligo a irme a vivir con ella porque sino me dijo que me dejaba. Entonces sumado a todo esto mientras que me estoy mudando le descubren a mi viejo un tuomor maligno en la frente el cual habia que operarlo. Tuvo que operarse dos veces. Mi ex novia fue agresiva y la relacion termino violentamente. Luego a mi mama le descubren cancer de ovario y ahora esta internada y hay que hacerle quimioterapia. Todo esto paso increiblemente en 5 meses y les juro que no doy mas no se ya como estar fuerte para mi trabajo y me afecta en la relacion con las personas y por sobre todo no se cuando van a parar de pasarme cosas malas. Ojala pudiese tener una vida normal. Bueno gracias por leerme y les deseo tambien lo mejor a ustedes y que sean buenas personas y traten de ayudar a quienes puedan. |

In middle school, she would get in trouble for stealing. She is the type to do whatever to get the attention she seeks. We used to be very close. But she has distanced herself from me as I know when something is fishy when I see it, and she doesn't like that. She is 16. Got arrested last year for shoplifting. Now is dating a kid that is troubled himself. Lives with his grandparents and smokes weed/does pills. She said she was over him for that reason and is now with him again. (She won't talk to me and hasn't for awhile). Her friend is a girl that is in love with her xanex a ddict ex boyfriend and he is friends with my sisters boyfriend, I know all of you would say to tell our parents. The problem is my dad has not been in the picture. My mom is very, very naive due to her cultural background and sadly, she is also the push-over type of person. I have done everything I could do to make my sister be as close to be as possible. To make her happy. Boost her self esteem. Encourage her to be the best she can be in school. She is in the wrong crowd and needs to change her life now. This is affecting my life every single day and I really can't take seeing her like this anymore. My mom says that she would rather be nice to her so she tells her the truth. She thinks that if she is hard on her, she will run away and really rebel. Its seriously so sad. She pierced her own nose, just dyed her hair bright purple, and hangs out with her stupid boyfriend and troubled friends all the time. |

In the obituary I found the names of five brothers and sisters, two of which I found on facebook. | Question: I can hear my mom and her boyfriend having sex.? Posted: 25 Apr 2015 11:03 PM PDT So, in the beginning of my mom and her boyfriends relationship they said that they wouldn't have sex till me and my brothers were at our dads house because it is disrespectful to us. So naturally I believed them... Then a few weeks ago I heard then doing the do and I was pissed. I felt betrayed and lied to. So I confronted her the next day and she told me to get over it or get out, while I was having a mental breakdown from being so angry. After a few hours of my sobbing in a corner she finally apologized and said it'd never happen again. Which has turned out to be another lie, I just don't understand, it was hard for me to adjust to her even dating, let along hearing this and I have no clue how to handle it I still get pissed whenever she brings it up jokingly and I told her that. But it just feels disrespectful towards me and my brothers and I feel as though I can't trust then anymore and I feel violated. If you could help with advice that would be great. I would like to not have anything negative because this is a sensitive subject to me. |

It's just so depressing to think of all the friends that I no longer talk to. Or when I had no worries and just had fun. I'm just so afraid to actually grow up and be an adult. Even saying that he's had the job for a while. (I just got hired there couple weeks) I was taken aback, and asked him what's going on to cause him to snap. he said nothing was going on. At my job, I think my coworkers thought I was a bit weird but not that there was anything physically wrong with me. I have been seeing a doctor for the issue and went twice in about 2 weeks. My one coworker today noticed my facial expression and how I was acting today and asked 3 times is I was okay...Is now the right time to actually explain what's up and let her know? Or should I just continue to act as if nothing is wrong? I'm embarrassed to tell her, but I feel as if she already kind of knows. Also, as many people are at jobs, she talks to everyone about everything..and about other people. :/ Should I trust her with this information or just continue pretending I'm fine? |
| Question: Some advice on graduate school & family issues? Posted: 25 Apr 2015 09:44 PM PDT I have some older cousins that live near my family and went onto graduate schools/ did well in college. We're all the first to go to college, our parents didn't. The area we live in isn't affluent and the high schools don't have high rates of kids going to college. Anyway, college was really hard for me when I started and I find it odd they didn't help me at all or offer advice. When I started doing well in college I signed up to mentor students because I was excited that anyone can do it and it can change your life. Since college is important.. why didn't they offer any advice at all? Example- I volunteered at a hospital and a resident told me all about medical school admissions/his experience/ honest advice. I grew up thinking college was going to be very difficult for me. My mom still encourages easier careers even though I proved that I can do well in college. Given our disadvantaged background...anyone knows that makes college harder. You don't know what you're in for! My mom actually compares me to them and think they're doing better. I am taking a little longer to narrow own 3 career options, all similar. Whenever I mention that it's ood they barely speak to us or never gave advice, why does my family take their side? ... Maybe since I like helping others I expect the same? |

Years after i was now an adult in a relationship for three years in love and i found out i was pregnant, but my symptoms slowly diminished i knew something was wrong then we found out that i had miscarried. My bf didn't know how to handle it well things were different and we just broke up. now that im older I'm happier, with my daughter and in a new relationship but one day i saw my ex at a party (the one i had the miscarriage with) & we had a convo and my feelings totally changed i still remember our great memories and how happy we were about our baby on the way. Days later he called me how he still wanted another baby with me and i just don't know what to think... am i still in love with him or is it bc of the baby. i have a bf now that ive been with for awhile and we are crazy for each other but i just dont know |
| Posted: 25 Apr 2015 08:56 PM PDT you see... ive been asking myself this. i have a few things that just seem wrong to me and i cant shake the feeling that shes cheating or something. 1. she has a number in her phone that she hasnt given a name to, and she is always texting that number 2. i have seen two messages from the number, one saying i wanna see your face more baby and i love you baby 3. she has been really irritable lately saying that i am being a turd and that im being rude when im not actually being bad. i have behaved like this before and havent gotten this irritability from her 4. she wont tell me who the number is. if i ask who shes texting, she says no one and pulls away her phone screen. 5. she talks on her phone while im "listening to music" i stop the music while my headphones are still in and i listen to her talk on the phone. she speaks really softly like she dosent want me to hear. and my dad hates getting phone calls at work and when she is on the phone, he is at work 6. she said her sister was on the phone but she said "i love you" and "i wanna be there" really softly and in a different tone she was first using while i still had my headphones out. then she said "let me see if shes listening" (me being the she) and i said "okay, who are you talking to?" and she said i told u, my sister! and the. she hung up. i think she is but i just feel like she couldnt do that to us. right? i mean... :( its stressing me out, please help |
