Question: African dressmaker in Houston? Posted: 22 Jan 2016 04:01 PM PST Does anybody know of a good African traditional dressmaker/seamstress in the Houston area? preferably Ghanaian who can make any dress like in picture shown below. I need help finding one for my sister's traditional marriage for both men and women. any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. |
Posted: 22 Jan 2016 03:31 PM PST I am friends with her husband, soon to be ex-husband's, sister. I knew him and introduced them back in 1994. They married in 1997. Since then he and my best friend, his sister, have gotten more and more distant. Their father died on 9/11 and that was traumatizing and already my sister's husband had become very controlling. Long story short he has had three affairs at least and manipulated money (basically stolen) from his father-in-law. Now my sister learned he fathered a child 12 years ago and she has put an end to the marriage. Will she resent me forever? I am still friends with the original friend, his sister, but she is close to my sister now and repulsed at how her brother has become. |
Question: Evening wedding with no dinner reception? Thoughts? Posted: 22 Jan 2016 03:29 PM PST Another question, what do you think is the earliest a wedding could start if there would be no dinner served afterward? I d love to have a quick ceremony, take a few (not all) pictures outside afterward (sun sets at 7:30), & then meet guests at our pavillion reception for appetizers, dessert, dancing , speeches etc. Reception lasting no longer than 2 hours. I don t want a dinner because of both cost & how much time it adds to the reception. & I don t want to have an early in the day wedding because I want the pavillion decorated with Christmas lights.. Plus night time ambiance. So.. That s my predicament . Help! Is there someway I can have some day light & still have an evening wedding without dinner??? |
Question: Is proposing my junior year of university a good idea? Posted: 22 Jan 2016 03:25 PM PST So I have been with my girlfriend for almost 4 years next month, and I can honestly say I Love her and respect her, and want to spend the rest of my life with her. We re both 20, (almost 21) and were both pretty sure of what we want in life. We re both third year students at a university (I go to uc irvine, she goes to cal state Fullerton so there s a 20 minute distance between our schools) and we both agreed that the best time to tie the knot would be after we graduated and could support ourselves financially. However, I am curious as to what time frame would be adequate to propose and how long of an engagement would be too long. We re both pretty serious people and don t really enjoy partying or drinking or anything in that ball park. |
Question: How to schedule court wedding? Posted: 22 Jan 2016 03:11 PM PST So me and my fiancé want to get married next month. How do I go about getting married to her? We just want the thing where we only need one witness. I live in San Bernardino county |
Question: Getting married in Ireland? Posted: 22 Jan 2016 11:08 AM PST Fiance is from Ireland and we both live in the states. What are the rules to marry? |

Question: Friend got engaged at 17, seemingly regrets it? Posted: 22 Jan 2016 06:56 AM PST So a good friend of mine who I didn't see for a while got engaged during the time I didn't see him, and I have met his fiancé and they certainly seem happy but do seem to argue a lot, and his fiancé breaks things. anyway, my friend always expresses his worry about the longevity of this relationship. I think he regrets getting engaged at such a young age and still wants to "play the field" more as most young men do. Any thoughts? |
Question: Dowry and Bride Price can someone explain? Posted: 21 Jan 2016 11:45 PM PST I am playing this game that has both in it at the same time (one of those choice books btw) Its pretty good but each play through this bugs me. I get what a Bride price is family, potential husband, government if its political etc. I can see how they would have to pay for the Bride because in that time period marriage was for financial, political or military reasons so they had something valuable that others needed. I also understand the Dowry. Given to help their daughter set up her home at the start or attract a better suitor and so on. I get all that and what propose they served in their time periods but what I don't get is why they are in the same book it seems like me promising you a $5 if you give me a $5 I don't see how anyone could possible benefit from this arrangement. If I am mistaken and both were used at the same point in time at some point please tell me how it worked or if the author just added it as creative freedom? Thank you in advance. |
Question: Got married after three months of being in a relationship? Posted: 21 Jan 2016 10:39 PM PST Got married after 3 months of being in a relationship? My husband and I got married after three months. I made a mistake and it was stupid! I realize that! I want to get through school, get it annulled and just date for a couple of years. He will not allow it. I feel so bad because I cheated on him for the first half of our relationship. I m a horrible person and I fixed my mistakes. He knows these things. I feel like I can t leave because I will hurt him. There s big red flags.. He doesn t like my family and my family doesn t like him. We went behind our families backs to get married and didn t do it the right way. I want an education and he s promising that I can do that if I move in with him. He said he ll buy me a car, wifi, and get me on insurance. I don t work and he s only been working for three months as a correctional officer... So, I don t know how he ll be able to afford it. He believes that once you get married, you stick with your spouse through everything... We got married in Vegas. And the last red flag... He said that he wanted to slap me after I told him the truth about me cheating on him. Now, I condone what I did.. But his threat scared the heck out of me. He said that I m lucky I m a girl because he wanted to hit me and that s why he started crying because he didn t. So, I don t know about him. I'm 19 and he's 22. I've always had a dream of being a doctor. He wants a baby now :-/. What do I do? Stay with him and fight? |
Question: My boyfriend said he bought me a diamond is he gonna PROPOSE?!!? Posted: 21 Jan 2016 10:06 PM PST We've been dating for a year & he tells me he's really in love with me but we've been on a break and I haven't seen him in a month and he recently told me he got me s diamond I told him he could just send me the diamond he got me but he told me he wants to give it to me in person so I asked if he was gonna propose and he was like "idk your gonna have to wait and see" I'm freaking out YOU THINK HES GONNA POP THE QUESTION?!? |
