| Question: Deciding where to live... am I being unreasonable? Posted: 10 Jan 2020 01:33 AM PST Myself and partner currently live close to his work which is about 200 miles away from my hometown. I agreed to live there short term (12-18 months)because he worked near there and my job is flexible. However I have always been clear that my end goal is closer to my hometown/family.(An hour away is the guide I have given) We have had disagreements on where to live as his parents live south and my parents north. 150 miles between the two families. We currently live 2 hours away from his parents. We are trying to decide where to live and it is causing arguments. He has always agreed to be further North previous. But now changing his mind and saying that I need to be at least 90 minutes away so he can only be 90 minutes away too. I get his point and that seems fair to have equal travel distances. But he rarely sees his family. I am currently 5 hours drive away from mine and he is 2 hours away from his. I tend to travel to see mine at least once a month and it would be more if I were closer. Whereas he is more like once every 2/3 months. I feel it isn't that big of an ask considering I have struggled being this far away from family and friends for over a year, I am quite social and its really effected me not seeing family/friends as often. I think my question is - am I being unreasonable and digging my heels in that the max I will stretch to is an hour away from my family? Meaning he would be looking at more of a 2 hour commute to see his? |
| Posted: 09 Jan 2020 08:42 PM PST I have already talked to the office about 4 times already and all I hear is " okay we'll call them " but obviously nothing has stopped. I have to wake up early for work so I'm often woken up by all the noise. I don't know what to do anymore. |
