There's only one problem, I'm having so much trouble staying strong and being there for her. I don't know what it is, we've always been able to talk about our personal problems to each other and comfort each other, but for some reason it's really hard for me to talk and try to comfort her. I feel so selfish because whenever she comes to me for help with this subject, I always try to turn the conversation a different way because I honestly don't even know what to say. So... what can I do for my friend? What do I say to her? I'm really sick of seeing her depressed because it's making me sad too. (Legal action has already been taken against her boyfriend) |

I had a tough time in high school and long story short, a "friend" had turned all of my other friends against me. I came into school one day and none of them would talk to me. I spent a year and a half of high school with no friends, depressed, and locked away in my room not knowing what to do with myself. I made a few friends my last year and a half, although now I can only say I have one friend from high school as the rest have drifted away from us. College has been great and Ive made so many friends, however they live a few hours away and it's difficult to meet up. I'm home for the summer and everyone is coming back to hang out with their high school friends, meanwhile I only have one and she's barely available due to work. Working is the only thing that has been keeping me busy, but it's hard not having friends here at home. It's especially hard because my boyfriend, who is a few hours away, has a ton of friends. He always wants to meet up and sympathizes with my lack of friends, but it's also hard to see that he has had a solid friend group since preschool. I'm just having a hard time right now and I'm quite upset and lonely. Any advice? |

I don t know if i can take another 2 years at the highschool. Its hard. I dont have a lot of friends and thats different for me because i used to have a big group of friends. Im having trouble adjusting to that and I dont really know how to make new friends because my freshman year my best friend and I basically left all of our other friends. And then it turned out she wasnt a good friend and got me in a lot of trouble. Freshman year was rough. So was sophomore year becase i basically started the year with no friends. So i am considering being homeschooled, but would it be harder for me to get into colleges (nyu florida state?) im in advanced classes now would i still be able to take advanced classes? I dont have to have my parents teach me right? What about classes like spanish? I really want to get into a good college and the ones i mentioned above are just a couple im considering. I just dont know what to do. I also dont want to make a stupid decision. Thanks for the help! |

Apparently someone was sending him rude anonymous messages and I guess he was drunkenly accusing me of doing it. I was hurt that he'd even accuse me of doing something like that and told him I'd never say anything like that and he continued to be an *** so I said something like, "If you're going to be a dick you don't need to talk to me." I assumed he'd just text me the next day or a few days later saying he shouldn't have said the things he said, or accused me of anything but I didn't hear from him. 3 months later, I ran into him and we made up. We didn't exactly talk about it, we just went along like it never happened. We'd been good since then but he accused me of being a liar one night. I explained what I meant and apologized if I mis-communicated, but I didn't hear from him for a few weeks until yesterday. He was just randomly telling me something, completely ignoring what happened before. I said, something along the lines of, "I don't know why you bother telling me anything. We clearly aren't really friends anymore." & he got mad and said I was so dramatic & how he couldn't do anything right and it was always like that with me. I was a little passive aggressive but I mean, he threw these accusations out there and said crappy things to me and I'm supposed to just always let it go? I told her to delete it and after a bit she finally agreed and then after she was like "you look really ugly in this. No offence". She constantly does this. Whenever i actually think i do good on something, she just is like "(My name), seriously. You need a reality check. You're horrible at this." The thing is that we all have the same friend group and everyone else in it is kind and sweet, but since we're in this "group", it's not like i can just disassociate myself from her. One of my friends walked past and I told her she had a post it note on her back. As soon as I said this the boy that was doing it said to me, why do you always have to spoil the fun. I then said to him: Because your fun isn't funny. That is honestly all i said, nothing more just because your fun isn't funny. Then, all the boys said; that is so racist. Lol. At this point I said what are you on about. They then all said: You said, at least I'm not friends with a pak*. Yes, straight up thats what they said. I definitely did not say that. I didn't say anything remotely close to that. Why would i say that out of the blue? And it doesn't even make any sense in the conversation. Ok so anyway, all the boys told the teacher what I supposedly said, and the teacher asked someone to get our head of year. Five minutes later our head of year came into our lesson, And asked for several people. 10 minutes later they all came back, and our head of year had pieces of paper in his hand. Then he asked for me. I explained everything to him, but because he had SEVERAL witnesses saying I had said something racist, he would have to take action. So i was told, you will have to spend your break and lunch in detention tomorrow. So, the next day came and I didn't go. Tomorrow he will ask for me, what shall i do or say? HELP please!! |

I asked if my friend had seen it and he said no, anyway at school he said he found it but when i went to get it he gave me it in pound coins and not the note. So anyway about 2 weeks later i have a £20 i put it in my friends bag as i have no pockets and we leave his house, i go ahead to meet a friend (ben) however the friend whos money i out into the bag went back in to swap bags, however when i went to get my money it wasnt in the new bag. I personally feel that I'm way more mature than them and that they care about the stupidest things. They would always go around and ask people to like their photos as if reaching a number is magical. I'm close to one of the 3 other girls but she's my only close friend. She's going to be busy all week and I have no one to hang out with. I had a bf and I actually considered him to be my best friend. We would skype for hours, go to bed, wake up, and pick up where we left off. We broke up and he thinks I'm better off without him but I feel so lost. I've tried talking to him but he's often busy too or won't talk. Hopefully I'll make better friends next year, sophomore year, but right now I'm kind of depressed. I have 2 more months of summer and I don't think I can handle it. I don't do anything, i don't have any true friends anymore. When i try to hang out with old friends i feel disconnected from everyone and i can't seem to make any new friends at college. I feel as if i am becoming more and more depressed as days go by.. i forget about it with school work but then it just comes out and i don't know how to deal with it. I remember being so fun and having a lot of friends now i am just so quiet and boring to be around. Posted: 05 Jul 2015 01:47 PM PDT her family has always really picked on me. they even yell at me sometimes. my friend would just sit there and let me be yelled at by her parents for doing nothing. she is a terrible influence on me and is super rude to my family, yet I've known her for like 13 years so we are just too close to separate. when I try to tell her that she's being rude, she starts a fight about it. her entire family has this weird style (of course I can't blame her for this) but they themselves are a terrible influence on her and me. they commonly sneak into expensive places, crash parties, drive drunk, and hate and black people for some reason(racists). they tell her lies and she tells them to me.she told me that chiropractors kill people, that Isis has sent bombs for us and much more.my parents hate how she takes advantage of our family, but there is something about her as my friend that makes me want to keep her. but she (by herself) is usually not mean. her family makes her this way and she sees it as normal. her racism and constant negativity towards everything is making me upset. she never wants to do anything with me for fun because she is to concerned about money. she will often ask me to buy her things when we hang out and take advantage. I ask her to do simple mini golf, only 5$ and she says it's too expensive. I know she has the money but it's like she's avoiding me. i confronted her about all of this and she doesn't see it the way I do.should I stay her friend or let her go? |

It prompted me to talk about hanging out outside of work (that's how we met).. Problem is, she NEVER texts me. NEVER. And when I do contact her the responses are never more than one word or one sentence long. I did tell her I would let her know my work schedule and when I would be free. I was free to hang out after work a few times last week. She told me at work that she wasn't able to cause she was busy. She didn't even say that until I mentioned it! Why didn't she contact me to say that? Then she said she lost my number and said she would let me know what her schedule was. She seemed interested in hanging out.. Especially after I moved to the town she lives in that we both work in. I refuse to contact her again because I believe I've done what I can. And yes she is busy but we all get busy. When I brought it up again she acted irritated. Why not just be honest and say you aren't interested in being friends? I mean I haven't done anything wrong. Shouldn't be calling anyone your friend if it's not true. I've dealt with other people who've done that. |

If I seriously wanted to be your friend, I would have remembered you and would have made an effort to personally contact you. There sites aren't even true "networking" tools, as they fail to encourage cultivating meaningful connections. I would rather have one personally directed email/letter from a friend than 100 posts/messages from "friends" because with the email/letter I feel respectfully acknowledged as an individual that is worth a damn in your life. He tickled me again and i told him to stop in a firm manner..i felt ticklish because it was natural not that i wanted him to do that..anyway tge next day i laughed again and he tickled me again..i told him to stop so he did..he was really nice and caring towards me..the third day he did again and i became angry..he apologized to me and never did it again..i had a crush on him but never told him..a few days later another girl came and they started talking alot and now he just ignores me and never really cares about me..that girl is all he cares about..guys tell me what were his intentions regarding me? |

She seems okay and nice but there is something about her that I don t like. I don t have any friends in the neighborhood so my mom is always trying to find someone for me to hang out with. My mom said that I should invite my neighbor (let s call her A), but I said no because I wanted it to be just me and my friends. I know that it was very rude of me to say that and very inconsiderate so after my mom stormed out of the room, I went up to her and apologized. She didn;t forgive me and said that she is very very mad at me. We always get into fights frequently but we usually make up within an hour. Today i was really sad and started crying. I told my mom she should call A but she responded saying "no" and "forget it, you won t ever be considerate". I am really sad and I love my mom SO much. As i m writing this, I am shedding tears. It seems everyone else my age is obsessed with what people think about them, and they wear snapbacks and sag their pants and blast rap out of their nice cars. Thats just not me. I dropped out of school last year and I got my GED, I wear hoodies and jeans, listen to punk rock, and dont give a **** what people think about me. Im smart, I LOVE wrestling, and MMA. It seems anyone else like me is like 25 years old. Nobody at my mma gym is my age (im in the adults class because im 6'2"), and I cant afford any other hobbies. There are only like two people that really want to be friends with me and theyre both immature attention whores (not trying to be mean or anything, but its like they completely change for people so theyll be liked). Im trying to get a job, but since im going on a trip in a couple weeks for a month, itll have to wait until the end of summer. Where can I meet people like me? |
