How can I get back at him? He keeps getting my hopes up, and it is the worst feeling ever. I had a crush on this mysterious, loner guy (sounds cliché) I didn't know much about him, and all we did was staring at each other from afar. As soon as I found out he had a (popular) girlfriend to my surprise (& it took me a while to understand that he was off limits) I stopped the staring game with him. (We always would stare intensely at each other before) For the past few months, I have been ignoring him, but I still accidentally catch his eyes (he is magnetic unfortunately) And yes, I always catch HIM looking and he never looks away. I try harder not to "fall into his trap" by using my peripheral vision. He is very tall and thin, so it's easy to recognize his silhouette. But now he positions his body in a way that I would not recognize him (sitting, crouching, staring from upstairs, etc) Last time, I was at the beach, and I could sense someone looking at me, and it was him again! I looked deeply into his eyes, and turned away looking "angry and deceived" sending him a message to quit. Yet he still continues !! He also observes me, listens to my conversations and shows up every time I have to make a speech. I told him I just wanted to be friends with him and he said that he thought I resisted my feelings but then we didn't really flat-out speak about it for almost a month. He said more things like how it meant something that he still thought about me after all this time (we've known each other for like 8 years) and how he needed a someone important to help him quit smoking and he asked me to be his reason. After he said that stuff, I thought that he had serious feelings so I considered dating him but I didn't tell him I was thinking about it. I thought that maybe I did have some repressed feelings and we obviously got along pretty well. Anyways, after about 3-4 weeks of this, I decided that I just couldn't see him that way. I didn't want him thinking there was any chance of us getting together, so I told him one night that we wouldn't be anything more than friends. He reacted by saying he wasn't looking to get into anything which has just confused me a lot. He's pretty much been silent since I told him (3 weeks ago) so now I'm just confused. Did he actually really like me and is now hurt or was he trying to just get in my pants? I obviously don't want to be rude if he's hurting but at the same time, he said he wasn't looking to get into anything and then went silent so it makes me think he was trying to just hook up.
