Posted: 15 Jul 2015 09:05 PM PDT A very close friend of mine suddenly decided to get married quite recently. They decided to invite their close friends and family to the ceremony and reception both, but to invite a larger circle of friends, acquaintances, and more distant relatives to the reception only. The reception is being held at my event center and I have given them the evening to use it for free. I know that I was on the list for the ceremony just last week. Today, my friend gave me my invite and it is for reception only. He made the excuse that, since I have to work the event, I would be there anyway and he told me that I could bring my husband, even though we weren't being given a ceremony invitation. I am hurt and not sure how to handle it. My husband doesn't plan to go anyway. Do I express my disappointment? I am beginning to think that the reason we didn't get one is that his wife doesn't want me there. Mid-May, he was complaining about her and clearly unhappy in the relationship, first week of June, he suddenly decided that he should propose. They set a date for the end of the summer, but got married in the courthouse three weeks after their engagement began and have been keeping it a secret from her family. She is not pregnant, but something is fishy about this and I can't put my finger on it. This last bit about the invitation is just disheartening for me. Perspective, anybody? |

Question: Married and in the military? Posted: 15 Jul 2015 06:40 PM PDT I've been thinking about proposing for the last few months and it's sort of crossing over to other parts of my life. I met my girlfriend my senior year of high school through friends. The summer before I planned to enlist we started going out and I put going into the military off until after college. That was 3 years ago and we've been together for this entire time and I can't see myself without her. We've talked about marriage, kids, etc. Before and I feel like she's the one. Only I've wanted to go into the military since I was in elementary. One of my high school JROTC instructors was a former Green Beret and he told a lot of great things about them that inspired me to want to enlist and eventually go into selection. I've also talked to the Navy about the SEALs and am considering going to one of the two after I finish college (and hopefully qualify for OCS). I want to do this while I'm still young and can endure what the field requires, but I'm not sure how this will workout if I do end up getting married. My girlfriend as it is now has different life goals as far as her career and I've seen lots of relationships end under similar circumstances. So I'm basically asking for advice, basically what would you do in my position? |
Question: I have a crush on Drew Pickles from Rugrats, is that bad? Posted: 15 Jul 2015 06:39 PM PDT I'm attracted to nerdy men who wear glasses and I like that he's a loving father to his daughter Angelica. Not to mention he's smart and has a nice job. |

Question: Has anyone accidentally found out their boyfriend is going to propose? Posted: 15 Jul 2015 04:28 PM PDT Was it still special? How did you find out? |
Question: I think I found out my boyfriend is going to propose? Posted: 15 Jul 2015 04:21 PM PDT He's became secretive about his phone. Hes always broke now. He was super weird about me cleaning the spare bedroom. To top it off saw an email by accident from zales about his payments. We're going to Washington with my parents next week perfect time to ask them! Then when we come home were going on a getaway together! I think that's when he'll ask! I'm kinda mad I found out though! I wanted it to be a surprise! Do you think he'll propose? Should I be upset it won't be a surprise? |
Question: What do you think about this bridesmaids dress? Posted: 15 Jul 2015 04:19 PM PDT My dress is pink and I am thinking about getting this dress for my bridesmaids. My dress looks exactly the same but in pink. What do you think ? |
Question: What is needed to be planned in a wedding? Posted: 15 Jul 2015 04:06 PM PDT Getting married in little under a year, and my fiancé wishes me to be more involved in the planning (reasonable). Unfortunantely, the reason I have been absent from such planning, is a complete ignorance as to what actually goes into planning a wedding. Doesn't help that I've never attended one that I can actually remember. So, what what goes into a wedding that needs to be done in advance? Also, what are my roles/expectations as the groom? |

Posted: 15 Jul 2015 02:17 PM PDT I haven't seen the bride in over a year but we used to live together in college and we were good friends. Her wedding is August 1st and I RSVP'd when the original invites were sent out a couple months ago. The thing is, last week I just ended a 5 year relationship with my boyfriend and I don't want to go to this wedding now because it's a small wedding and literally all of our mutual friends, including him, will be there. I know it's childish but we were together for over 5 years and we JUST broke up. I really don't want to go to a small intimate wedding with all of our close friends. Plus the wedding is 3.5 hours from me (in the same town that my now ex-boyfriend lives in) and since I can't stay with him, I'd have to either get a hotel or drive 7 hours round trip in one day; both options stink. I've decided not to go but I don't know if I need to tell the bride or not. I'd really rather not but I don't want to be rude. |
Question: Rude bridal shower behavior? Posted: 15 Jul 2015 02:04 PM PDT I am writing a skit for a comedy amateur show; and it will be about a young lady's bridal shower and the funny, albeit rude and crude things that happen. Can you please tell me what are some of the rudest and tackiest things you have ever seen people do and/or at a bridal shower? Whether it was the bride, the bridesmaids, family members, or one of the guests? I'd like to put real elements in the story. Thanks for your help! |

Posted: 15 Jul 2015 10:24 AM PDT For financial purposes, my fiance and I might get married legally and then wait to have the actual wedding ceremony until we have enough saved, which may be in a couple years from now. Is there a way to do that in Florida or do me and my fiance have to wait until we re able to do the ceremony? We both have jobs...I actually have 2 jobs so please no "get off your lazy asses" comments -_-. Im saving but its taking a lot slower than anticipated because my hours were severely cut at one job and the other one I am a substitute teacher so I m out for the summer. |

Question: When should I schedule my make-up to be done for a 3-day weekend of special events? Posted: 15 Jul 2015 06:19 AM PDT I have a bachelorette bridal shower on a friday evening, tickets to a huge concert that next night, and a wedding to attend that sunday. I really want to look FLAWLESS for all three events. Especially the wedding and bridal shower---but I know it's not practical to schedule a make-up appointment three days in a row. how should I plan to get make-up done? Just on Friday? And DIY on Saturday? And again on Sunday? Please help!??! The bridal shower is actually a bachelorette party at a club. so, that's why I wanted to look especially flawless. |
Posted: 15 Jul 2015 05:24 AM PDT I saw it featured at a wedding expo. Some of attendees names were already in for the seminar sessions- so they typed in or the attendant typed in their last name. It showed everyone with that last name and they selected which one was theirs. It then displayed a screen that told them which table they were assigned to. I have over 200 guests and I think this will help me reception usher to locate persons quickly. However, I can't remember the name of the company that does it here in Barbados. So I am looking for an app that does that even if I have to pay for it. I think they used it on Ipad. But am willing to use any similar app on Apple products or Android Just some info based on replies: I have tried googling it but there are so many seating apps out there for various functions. Few things: 1- In my country, we tend to have ushers at the reception, maybe you call them a host or hostess. They direct and escort persons to their tables. 2- I never meant for the guests to directly interact with the app. I meant for the 5 ushers I have to man devices with them to assist them in helping persons find their seats. 3- I am grateful that you took the time to answer my question. 4- I am sure that at your wedding, you did what you wanted. Please allow me to do that. 5- With the except of one person, no one answered the question. I asked persons to help me locate this app, or if they know of any app that did the function as was lined out in the details. I did not ask if it was tacky. I did not ask for opinions. I simply asked for help in locating this app or something similar. Thank you for all your help. 5- With the except of one person, no one answered the question. Question: Is it rude not to go to a friend's wedding while you're invited? Posted: 15 Jul 2015 12:02 AM PDT I have a friend who's getting married. We have never been close friends, so it's kinda nice of her to have invited me. Her wedding will be in August, and she sent me an invitation card in May, that is, about four months ahead, and I initially said I would come to her wedding. So she has made arrangements for guest services like food and stuff. But today I learned I've been scheduled to write two exams on her wedding day. So I won't be able to make it. But at the same time, I feel bad to tell her I won't be coming. Wouldn't it be very rude of me not to go?? I heard from someone she paid 70$ just for each of the invitation cards. And she must've already paid for my food and drinks as well. P.S. Yes, I am planning to call her and let her know I won't be able to come to her wedding. But still! I feel bad! My school will not allow me to re-schedule my tests, so I have to write my exams that day. |
