I said if she didn't then she wouldn't get dessert. She refused. I asked again, she said no, I said " Fine, bed, right now." She stomped away. I went into her room, she was laying in bed, I wanted to talk. When she saw me walk in she rolled over, turning her back to me. I said, " Do I get a good night kiss?" " No" " Do I get a good night hug?" " No. You're mean". I left her alone, felt awful. I did okay right? Is she gonna hold a grudge? She's at my sister's so I haven't seen her yet today. It's usually my mom who initiates the fights and my dad has a high temper. Anyways, you know how parents are constantly told to listen to their children? Well, my mom refuses to. My dad always tells my mom to lower down her voice but she refuses to. She is constantly accusing him of something. I text my mom and tell her how I feel whenever she does this (and usually they're big paragraphs) and she always has the same reply: "Delete". Delete as in she "deleted" the text message. These kind of acts infuriate me and at this point I wouldn't mind if they got a divorce. Sometimes I even tell her verbally how I feel but she seems to have this pertinacious barrier. I feel like she isn't even my mom at times. Moms are suppose to be understanding and open to anything their children say, right? This has been going on for 16 years and I can't take it anymore. What do I do? |

At 10 month's his dad signed over rights. But the grandma ( my sons bio dad's mom, which he lives with, Right down my road) refuses to leave us alone. She yells at us across stores. She write lies on Facebook degrading my marriage to my husband, when he's the REAL man that stepped up and has lovingly raised Our son for the last 3 years... She yells at my older son while he's riding his bike on the sidewalk. She blocked my car in at the gas pump so she could talk to.my son through the window. She leaves me notes at my work and asks for my schedules. She follows me around ny sons school. And school functions. I'm living in fear that she will take my son. She has history with her other daughter in-laws and trying to keep or take their children. She is an enabler to all her sons. They think they can do whatever as does she. Please help! |

Recent circumstances in my life have caused me to become extremely concerned with my living situation, source of income, and health. I have researched several websites including my benefits.ny.gov, but the results were quite vague. I'm hoping to find someone on here who has gone through similar experiences and can offer me advice. My parents have always supported my brother and me, that is, until my dad abandoned us in 2010; leading to their brutal divorce, and the inevitable loss of our home in 2013. Since then, we have had to separate, and live with friends and family members for temporary amounts of time. I'm currently staying with my friend's mom, while my mother and 19 year old brother share a room at my uncle's house. After several court dates, My mom finally started getting a percentage of my fathers paycheck for child support in 2014. Even so, it isn't consistent because my dad has been on and off of work. My mom says she makes $70000 before tax, but can barely afford anything, let alone a place for the 3 of us. As a result, I've developed severe depression and anxiety, to the point were I struggle getting out of bed. My boss told me I'm not able to work anymore, and to come back when I'm "better". I can't even collect unemployment because I don't consider myself able to work yet. I feel so stuck. I shouldn't be in this position. I just want to be able to take care of myself, but I need help. |

Then, one day my mom just ups and leaves and starts a life somewhere new in another state because she's unhappy. (She only looks out for herself) My step dad abused me as a result as releasing built up anger from his childhood (his dad abused him) I left the situation to live with my brother which didnt last long because he sucks at keeping up with bills and responsibilites. I then moved to NJ to try living with my Gma, Aunt, and sister and they're all driving me nuts. I feel like I half do and don't know what to do. He was getting behind on a project he was working on and he ask me to help him. I said sure and I worked with him during my lunch and sometimes after work. He was afraid he would loose his job if he did not get his project done on time. It was a struggle but we got the project completed on time. I got an email from my sister that said "I hope you remember all the help Joe gave you at work and all the time he spent with you so you could keep your job". My first reaction was that I should take that email to Joe and tell him to tell my sister the truth about who helped who. However on more thought I didn't do that. I thought why start a family fight when it can be avoided. If Joe wants to keep the truth from his wife, I will not interfere. However when Joe needs help again (which he will) I am going to be not available. Please tell me if you think I made the right decision. How should I handled this situation? THANKS |

My stepdad used to abuse me and my siblings as a way to release his anger. I left that situation to live with my brother who's horrible at paying bills and gets evicted from his apt alot. After that, I tried living with my Gma, sister, and aunt, which is going even more terrible than living with my step dad. I'm tired and very agitated from being in toxic situations with family, and I just want to walk away and never turn back. I've just been so furious lately, not just with them but everyone... i tried seeing psycologist, but they don't really help, they actually added on to the problem..... **Edit** I'm only 19 years old, so there's but so much I can do... She puts a lot of really sexual pictures of herself up on Facebook and I guess our parents were getting suspicious because she is so secretive about her account. She wouldn't even add our parents as friends and she has her profile set to private. So now my parents are asking me for my login info so that they can see her profile. If I give them my login info I'm not worried about anything that they will see on my profile (even my personal messages), but I am worried that they will freak out when they see my sister's profile. I haven't responded to their text yet and I don't know what I should do. |

I live with my mom and my step-dad here in the US for about 3 years now. Along those years, my mom and I constantly argue and bicker. I mean, I thought it'd be normal since I'm in my teens. Plus, she hasn't really adapted to the American culture whereas I have to. A while ago, my mom and I had a "big" fight. And I think its the last straw for her because she said she's sending *Sending me to my dad in the Philippines. I love them both, but I'm just so conflicted right now. Should I just suck it up and go along with it, hoping it's somehow a good path for me? I love my mom but I do think we need to be separated. But I also, don't really want to leave US. ugh.. |

My mom is 5 2 (157 cm) My dad is 5 4 (162 cm) My sister is 5 0 (152 cm) My other sister is 5 3 (160 cm) My mom and dad have told me that pretty much every family member is short. The tallest family member is my uncle, who is 5 8 (172 cm) The rest of my family is shorter than 5 8. But, I m only a teenager, and I m 6 4 (194cm ).... I don t do anything to get taller, it just sort of happened. Why am I taller than everyone? It s just so weird.. |

I've managed to distance myself from him so I'm not that much affected by his racist, fatshaming, greedy remarks. He believes all muslims are crazy terrorists (I know this is NOT true), he constantly makes fun of overweight people and encourages my sister to fatshame. Also, all he cares about is money, money, money. I'm glad that I don't have a good relationship with him. I don't want to think or act the way he does. But my sister (she's 12) adores him. He's her role model. She wants to be everything he is. He'll call her stupid and tell all our relatives how incredibly dumb and brainless she is (which I know she's not, she's smart), and he laughs at her every time she starts to believe in her own intellgence, but my sister still loves him. Lately, she's started to be a lot like him. She talks **** about disabled people, immigrants, muslims, gay and overweight people all the time at the dinner table. I try my best to tell her not to, but even my mom laughs when my sister and dad make those jokes. My sister is basically becoming my dad. Advice? |

If someone were to tell me something nice, like "hey you look nice today" or try and tell me "I love you and only you" I just call it a bunch of bull. Even my girlfriend who I love so much, i just always feel like she's lying or flirting, or even straight up cheating, even though I know she's so faithful and sweet. I don't even trust my family, they say good job, or nice going and I'm all, you goddamn liar. I don't know how to just trust anymore, I can't, and it just makes my heart hurt knowing I can't even trust the one I love most. (He's 10) (she's 6)And I don't like him. He makes my niece a different person, he controls her, and always threatens her. When I babysit her alone she's always being nice to me. But when I babysit them both he's always being rude to her. Also when she comes by herself she brings food and she always shares or gives me some of her snacks. When he comes and she gives me half of her sandwich or a bag of her chips he tells her that they have to tell my sister(my niece is mom) that I'm eating their food and he always want to get me in trouble. They just have this attitude and way of acting hateful towards me. They steal my food and use my shampoo in the bathroom. My theory is that they are trying to make me feel uncomfortable here so that I just leave and they don't cause drama with my bf by actually telling me to leave. I know my boyfriend can see what they're doing to me. What I've been doing is just acting kind to everyone and acting like we're all family as if I'm too naive to know they hate me. Basically just playing innocent and clueless and like I'm easily tricked by his mean family. When I notice some of my food missing I ask if anyone has seen it and when they say "no sorry" I say "oh ok thanks" even though I know they took it. As an act of kindness I'll offer the whole family pieces of my pizza. The same people who steal and then lie about it to me. I pretend to believe every single lie without a doubt and continue to act like I love them and they love me. I also pretend not to pick up on their subtle insults and remarks. I feel like it will make my bf feel more inclined to step in and protect me from getting treated badly and taken advantage of. I also feel like he'll choose me over them if they are the only ones being mean and he sees me as the sweet, innocent victim with no bad intentions who was nothing but nice. Will this work? Never in my life have I gotten into any serious trouble. I've never had any run-ins with the law and all in all I have not done anything that should arouse suspicion by my mom. I don't see the what the big deal is. NO I'm not hiding anything, I'm not cooking meth in my bedroom or sneaking boys in. She has yet to offer any reasonable explanation as to why I can't close my door other than "My house, my rules" and the fact that I stay on my phone late at night. Big deal, it's summer and so does every other high school kid. She threatened to take the hinges off if I dare close it one more time. Am I really in the wrong for wanting my door closed, for wanting a little privacy? |

I went to my mom and told her about it and she didn't even tell him anything. She blamed ME. She told me it was my fault for giving him the card. Like seriously?!? I'M the responsible one? And we wanted to move around instead of sitting there for hours. When we was walking. my sister said let's say slender man. She said it not me. I seen nothing but I felt something rubbing my arm. there was nothing there. When we came back in the hospital I went to go use the bathroom and the door slamed by it's self. And when I put my hand under the soup thing it only worked one time for me so I wash my hands and the soup thing went off by its self also the sink. Then when I was done washing my Hands someone was knocking All hard. I started laughing cause I thought it was my sister but I opened the door no one was there I looked up and down the hall nobody. When we came home at 4am this morrning like today on July the 28 my face was getting all dry for some reason. Idk but this is kinda weird. What you think? Oh yeah when I went to the bathroom this morning I had to fix my hair. But when I got done I smelt stinky arm pits wasn't me I smelt my under arm and not a stink smell idk. But they can get into an argue very easily because my brother can react very overexaggerated on some things, or just too honest, and for others it can get pretty awkward. For example: one day my aunt and uncle were visiting our house, and we were just talking. We were talking about funny and annoying things people do or something like that. For example: my father talks very loud sometimes and talks a lot while eating, which can be pretty annoying. So when my aunt and uncle were visiting our house, he suddenly said: 'yeah what is also pretty disgusting is that he eats with his mouth wide open, haha.' So then a silence fell, and my father said something like: "oh I didn't notice that before but you can just tell me when I do it again." But of course, it is not nice at all to say something like that, especially not when there are people around. But anyway, does somebody know how to let him stop acting that way? |

She was happy to talk to me at first and told me that she can tour me around the colleges of NYC. At first, my parents and were excited. However as time passed on she never took me around NYC. I texted her and she didn't reply. Once my dad called her and she excused herself by saying she has three jobs. She didn't come. Next time, my dad called her and she didn't pick up. Even today, she answers my text something and other times, she ignores it. I feel like I overdid it by texting her too much. She talks to her other cousins who are closer to her. Now im almost 21 this coming september.... and my parents are closing the store and thinking of moving but they only want to move to a different location if either my sister or i take it over.... my sis is a 30 year old cna and want to go back to school to finish and become a Rn (registered nurse), she used to help with the store about 5-6 years ago but she left home around that time for her boyfriend and just never really cared about the store again.... i've been working here as long as i can remember and i know the place inside and out but i always blamed this place for my boredom and it absolutely sucked.... but now i seriously think i might be able to take to store over.... but i feel like that will be the end of the rest of my life... i know im young but this isn't even what i want to do.... i love computers and video games and i want to work on programming in the hopes to transfer it into actual video game design. Im planning on going to a technical college for business managment in order to take over the store but my parents don't want to wait... they said they're tired and ready to retire and putting pressure on me and my sis to take the store over. |

I take care of her daughter every summer and at the begin she payed me a very low income. At this point she doesn't pay me anything! I have to wake up so early, I have to feed them and clean after them! They're also very rude and loud...they don't listen to me. They make a mess after I clean, she never says thanks to me or nothing. I no longer want to take care of them. I'm done being her little slave! I do work but only like 2 days a week, my mom takes care of them when I don't. I'm so annoyed by them. I take care of them 7 hours a day. I've told them if they have any other babysitter and try to get them to hate me! They're super annoying and eat constantly which means more dishes for me to wash. In other words, I annoy him equally as much. He complains, I am told off severely. I am then sent out of the room which I was previously in, before my brother came in. My parents remain in that room with him. I then decide to hide myself away, from the rest of the family. When they ungratefully stop watching the movie which I set up, they want me to do something for them. If I don't comply, I am dragged/hit on the head. I was once hit AT LEAST four times, in the side of the head, because of my brother. Anyway, I am forced to do what they want me to do after that. A couple of days ago, I had only had a couple of mouthfuls of water until dinner. I decided to get a glass of water. My brother caused trouble; I retaliated. I was told off and he was called 'the bigger person' for saying that he was going to ignore me. I decided to wait until everyone else was gone before I was to eat without enduring constant verbal abuse (I don't weigh much for my age, and am made fun of, despite declaring the fact that I am hurt). I was intimidated into giving my water up, and got a headache as a result of dehydration later on. Sorry for the long question. Please tell me how to deal with this. Thanks! Oh yeah, I forgot to add: I did get an Xbox for getting full marks in an extremely important exam. However. My brother can and will take full control of it, even if he has annoyed me. Also, he can throw tantrums about seeing tutors without repercussions. I used to be forced to go to a tutor. Honestly, the list is endless! In addition, I am shouted at and told that I don't try when I get an average test result at a highly academic school. My brother, however, fails most of his tests. She has a job and just recently got a bank account and her "parents" forced her to go up to the bank and pay car insurance. She has to pay for everything herself, her college, her car, phone, etc. I understand she lives under their roof, but it's stupid how she works her butt off to earn money and her foster parents just take it. They make her pay for the necessities of the house. Such as food, cleaning items, and other things. I understand she has to pay for her own things. This system just doesn't make sense to me. She was once my netball coach and she didn't treat me well while i was in her team. After that i started to ignore her because i don't want that negativity. Then every now and then she will send me a sms every time before something big happens in my life like before a school year starts again she will send a sms and say strongs and she hope it will be a great year and blah blah blah... well she got divorced from her husband because he was cheating on her and that same time my mother was also going through a tough time, (my grandma died). mother supported her through her whole divorce. She didn't even ask my mother once how it was going or supported her once! I believe in loyalty and that true friends will support each other and it will have to come from both sides. She ignored my mother's calls and sms's multiple times when my mother reached out when she was down or wanted to talk. She never cared about my mother only about herself and only thought about herself. Now she sended me an sms and told me that she saw my statussed the last few days and to her it looks like i am heartbroken and she just wanted to tell me that she sometimes feels like she gets all the bad luck and through her whole divorce she was sad and blah blah blah... again all about herself... i don't want anything to do with her because of what she did to my mother. My brother decided to trip hard and he almost died. Recently she told me that I m not the biological father, I never took her serious but after she s been pressing the issue I decided to take the DNA test. Turns out I m not the biological father but I raised her from birth until now. She s 5. Knowing this doesn t change how much I love my daughter. When she comes to visit us she'll fall asleep within 20 minutes of sitting on the couch and also has trouble breathing while she sleeps. My husband and I tell her she needs to worry about her health and go see a doctor. Her parents try to tell her too but she just gets mad at us and storms out the house. My cousin is in college and I'm in high school, so why is she always comparing me to her? Because I'm an introvert, she acts like I'm so stupid and can't do anything. My cousin is an extrovert and is apparently can do everything that she sets her mind to. My cousin is super rude to everyone, but everyone still loves her. I'm obedient and never talk back, but everyone picks on me. Once in awhile, I'll say something just remotely defiant and everyone calls me disrespectful. I study more than I go on my phone, but the moment my grandma sees me on my phone, she tells me I'm not able to learn anything because I'm always on my phone. No one in my family has ever called me smart. In fact, my uncle once told me that I would amount to nothing and become a hobo. My teachers all say that I'm an exceptional student but for some reason they don't believe that. I have a bunch of awards hanging in my room but that's not proof enough I guess. I feel so unappreciated. They also make fun of my weight all the time and compare my body to other people's. I just can't do anything right.
