Posted: 29 Jul 2015 12:54 PM PDT They are all going to Palm Springs for the weekend for my aunt Claudia's "bachelorette party". I just met the woman she is marrying my uncle. Their relationship is horrible. She breaks up with him every week. Calls off the wedding. Posts stupid posts on social media and then next day acts if nothing happened and calls it back on. I'm not a drinker or into the club scene. Well not with my family anyway. We aren't close. They are the annoying Belligerent drunks and I'm not a fan of hanging out with negative people. My aunt ivy isn't going because my aunt Judy hates her for no reason what so ever. ( and I mean literally no reason what so ever. She is like this with everyone who marries in the family she treats them like **** and will start fights for no reason) so we ( ivy and me) aren't going. I ran into her at Costco and asked her if she was gonna go despite the fact Judy hates her and she said no. She knows that once alcohol gets in her system it would be inevitable that my aunt Judy would start something. So I told her too I'm not going. And she invited me to go to a taco festival in LA for a few hours that same weekend. I of course I said yes. ( obvi free fooood!) and I told my mom about it. My mom gets mad and says it's not cool and that my aunt ivy knows all the girls are going and she only invited me and blah blah. I don't really see anything wrong with it. I can't see the bad. If yall think its wrong can you explain why that is? |
Posted: 29 Jul 2015 12:46 PM PDT I'm attending my first wedding soon and am the best man. The bride and groom have chosen my suit and I'm not too sure, the jacket is ok on the sleeves but looks too long and nearly touches my knees, is that right? Also the trousers are a good fit around the waist yet really baggy on the lower legs which isn't to my taste. Anyone an expert on wedding suits? |
Question: S'mores or a S'mores inspired wedding cake for a beach wedding....? Posted: 29 Jul 2015 12:40 PM PDT What are your thoughts about skipping the traditional wedding cake and having S'mores instead? We're having our reception on the beach as well, but with a bonfire etc. Just a thought I had, but maybe it's too far out there... I also saw some very pretty S'mores inspired cakes (chocolate cake with marshmallow frosting etc) |
Question: Wedding at a State Park...The couple pays the entrance fees, right? Posted: 29 Jul 2015 12:18 PM PDT Hello, Next year my Fiance and I are getting married at a state park. The entrance fee is $5 per car. I want to make sure, that the responsibility is on us to pay for our guests entrance fees. Is that how it typically works? |

Question: Wedding Invitations with a hyphenated last name!? Posted: 29 Jul 2015 08:19 AM PDT In a previous marriage, I decided to hyphenate my last name. Upon divorce, I never had it changed, and have been going by either the hyphenated name or just my ex's last name for the past 15 years. I'm remarrying, and not sure how I should present my last name on the invitation. Do I use (examples) Mary Smith-Jones, Mary Jones (former married name), or Mary Smith (maiden name)? Is it tacky to have my last name from another marriage on our wedding invites? I can't find an answer for this one anywhere, HELP! |
Question: Going to a wedding with DESSERTS only. How much do you spend on a gift?!? Posted: 29 Jul 2015 06:05 AM PDT 'I am going to a wedding that starts at 7:00 (ceremony). Reception is right after down the road at some kind of club hall. The Bride and Groom are only serving desserts apparently. I'm lost when trying to figure out how much I should spend on a gift..? Question: I was wondering if you need these songs for a wedding and why? Posted: 29 Jul 2015 03:53 AM PDT Professional Ceremony Recessional |
Question: Is "Ave Verum Corpus" by W.A.Mozart appropriate for the bridal entrance? Posted: 29 Jul 2015 03:33 AM PDT I really love this piece of art, it means a lot to me, so much I want it to be my music for my wedding entrance. But because of the latin lyrics it might not be that appropriate. Please help. Here are the lyrics translated: Hail, true Body, born, of the Virgin Mary, who having truly suffered, was sacrificed on the cross for mankind, whose pierced side flowed with water and blood: May it be for us a foretaste [of the Heavenly banquet] in the trial of death. O sweet Jesus, O holy Jesus, O Jesus, son of Mary, have mercy on me. Amen. |
Question: Where can I honeymoom for 9,700$? Posted: 29 Jul 2015 01:41 AM PDT We want to travel for 2-4 weeks, mid Aug-mid Sept or early-mid Sept (2016). We want to visit so many places and we can't make up our mind and choose one. So we decided we'll go to the country that needs a little less than 10K (that's the amount of money we can spend on the honeymoon). So I'll list the countries we'd like to visit and whoever has information on costs please let me know in a comment which countries are doable for 9,700$. Thanks. |
Question: Wedding venues!! Help?!? Posted: 28 Jul 2015 09:43 PM PDT I'm looking for a wedding reception venue :( so had to find a nice one, look in South East London any ideas?? |
Question: What differentiates a promise ring from an engagement ring? Posted: 28 Jul 2015 09:12 PM PDT My friend got a promise ring from her boyfriend (we are in our mid 20's) the other day. It got me thinking. Why give a promise ring saying "I'll marry you someday" instead of just proposing and having a long engagement? What is the difference? |
Question: Can I get married in another borough to what me and my fiancé live in? Posted: 28 Jul 2015 08:13 PM PDT Hey, so I'm looking to plan my wedding and I really like the registry office in Wandsworth but I live in Southwark and my fiancé lives in lewisham, so can we still get married there and how do we go about it if we can? |
Question: Would you change anything about your wedding? Posted: 28 Jul 2015 07:34 PM PDT I've been with my husband for 28 years, but we will be married 25 years this coming September. We were married by a JP and to be honest I wouldn't change anything about my wedding. We had all of our loved ones around us, and that's what meant the most to us. S, I was married at 18, and I've never regretted my decision. My daughter is 21, and she's getting married next year to a very nice young man. |
Question: How should I word my wedding invitations? Posted: 28 Jul 2015 06:23 PM PDT I'll have a separate RSVP card and do not know how to word that either? Would like to tell people they are allowed to bring their own alcohol. Not necessarily say BYOB but I know there's not a non tacky way of saying it. We will have enough for everyone but we are only doing one signature drink and they can bring some of their own. |
Question: Any tips for sabering open a champagne bottle at my wedding? Posted: 28 Jul 2015 04:24 PM PDT |
Posted: 28 Jul 2015 04:06 PM PDT And I was thinking about catering my own reception since I'm trying to keep the guest list under 50. Is this something that would come off being to cheap? |
Question: How much should I spend on an engagement ring? Posted: 28 Jul 2015 03:20 PM PDT I know the price tag isn't the important part, and she told me that I could propose with a ring pop and she'd say yes, but I want to get my girl something nice. I'm a college student and only working part time so money is a bit tight. I probably I won't have enough until next year's tax return, but I'm working on saving now as well. Is $1000 a realistic figure to aim for? |

Question: Why do some people choose to hurt others for not being married and remain single? Posted: 28 Jul 2015 02:49 PM PDT Some typical comments, You're not married, wow you need to get married, you are missing out big, or the most famous hurtful sentence....whats wrong with you? Is getting married going to accomplish in society? Is the man going to achieve something? Is marriage more important than having a masters in computer engineering or your MBA for example? I don't understand why some people tend to hurt others for not getting married? I was only wondering, what is getting married going to accomplish? Its not as valuable as obtaining an college engineering degree for example. Yeah but what good will marriage accomplish? Its not going to open doorways to a better future (i.e. career for example). Besides, if the wife divorces, the document is invalid and useless. So thats another thing for men to worry about. A master's degree doesn't divorce. "Marriage doesn't open career doors. It opens a whole lot more." -- And what kinds of door(s) does marriage actually open? A whole lot more? Be more specific? It can't be any valuable than 6 digit figure salary. "If all you value is money and the things it can buy, then even the most valuable intangible things are worthless to you." ........ who said I burn my money on luxurious items? For your information, I use it to help people, help the homeless, rest is for my needs (i.e. survival), saving for my retirement and securing my parents retirement. I like to help others and it makes me happy. Not to mention I pursue my hobbies with my friends. You hardly know me and my life living the dream. |
Question: Wedding and graduation gifts? Posted: 28 Jul 2015 02:48 PM PDT So my older son finished his electrical apprenticeship about 6 months ago and I gave him $100 and took him and his fiancé out for dinner. In about 4 months from now he will be getting married and I plan on giving him $1,000. They specifically asked for money because they have been living together for a few years and have everything they need but want to buy a house. I am not paying anything for the wedding so this will be his only gift from me. Also, next year my younger son will be graduating from Georgia Tech with a degree in engineering and I plan on giving him $1,000. My question is does this seem unfair or like I am playing favoritism? Is this appropriate? Any advice will be great. |
Question: Custom Collage frames? Posted: 28 Jul 2015 01:20 PM PDT I am looking into getting collage picture frames for mine and my fiance's parents as a gift before our wedding to say thank you. does anyone know where I can get one customized with thw photos placed where I want them? |
Question: Beach Reception Ideas - NC - HELP!? Posted: 28 Jul 2015 11:23 AM PDT We are looking into Ocean Isle Beach, NC to have our wedding next September. We are having the ceremony on the beach but really struggling to find a place for the reception. Any suggestions? We thought about renting a big house on the beach but most are $7000+ and that is way out of our budget. Would love to hear some ideas! Also there will only be about 50 people if that attending so renting a huge room for $1750 is not really ideal either! Thanks! |
Question: I am at a loss on what to do or say.? Posted: 28 Jul 2015 08:18 AM PDT My 25 yr old son is getting married. His fiancee is 24,they've been together for 7 yrs.We all use to get along, until their wedding shower.I tried not let it bother me, there is only one picture of my son and I and the coloring is off.It was at the future bride's Mom's house, we never have gotten along so I didn't feel comfortable asking if I could have pictures taken. When I came home the mom had posted a ton of beautiful family pictures.I became upset and posted the picture and said how I wished I had known pictures were being taken, because I and others would have loved to had the chance to take pictures with what family members that where there. The stepmom told me she wished she could have gotten pictures of the future bride and groom along with her mother in law- the bride's father's mother.I also commented on how I thought the only picture of my son and I looked crappy.I deleted the picture and the post the next day.My son and his fiancee aren't speaking to me. My future daughter in law thinks I hate her an that I am fearful of losing my son.He moved out over 6 years ago,I never felt I was losing him and never hated her. I tried to explain I was hurt by seeing all the beautiful family pictures the mom had and I had none.My son can't even look at me, when we got together to discuss what happened. He hates me for being the cause of all this.Come to find out the person taking the pictures admitted they played around with the settings just for my son an my picture. |
