Question: Where should I have my wedding? Posted: 26 Jul 2015 08:04 PM PDT My fiancee and I cannot agree on where to have our wedding. Initially we both wanted to have a destination wedding 2 hours away. After looking at dozens of venues in the city, none of the ones we like were even close to our budget. My parents own a venue in our hometown which has made me realize how much we can save by doing here. However, my fiancé is avoiding it all all costs…keeps saying it was not our original plan to have it here and how he wants something completely different than the regular weddings that take place in my parents venue. I keep telling him I would want to have a wedding in the city however, considering our guests, finances, and timeframe (December wedding) it just doesn't seem practical. As a matter of fact the whole concept just seems stressful! Not to mention my parents have both been very hurt at the idea of us having our wedding else ware. Our disagreeing has left me so frusterated, torn, and hurt. How can I accommodate to his and my needs? |
Question: First dance songs that aren't country!? Posted: 26 Jul 2015 07:59 PM PDT What are some first dance songs for a wedding that aren't country. Me and my fiancé like country but they're so overused at weddings! I like music like the fray, James bay, life house. And rock music. But so far the only ones I've picked is you and me by life house or I'll be (acoustic) by Edwin McCain. I need more options! |
Question: Is it acceptable for my wedding ushers to wear white polo shirts and khaki pants/shorts? Posted: 26 Jul 2015 07:25 PM PDT I am getting married in 20 days we are having an informal rustic wedding. The wedding and reception will be on a farm. Everything will happen outside. Or will that be too informal considering that it is a wedding? |
Question: Groomsman but a Female, what to wear?!? Posted: 26 Jul 2015 06:52 PM PDT So my brother is getting married and he asked me to be his best man. His other groomsman will be wearing blue suits and he said that I should wear a blue dress. The bride said that my dress should match the bridesmaid'd dresses but the color should be blue to match the groom. Is this the best option or should I just get my own dress to just match the blue of the groom instead of getting same dresses as the bridesmaids. (Also she doesn't have maid of honor) Thanks for your helps!! |
Question: SWEET SIXTEEN HELP!? Posted: 26 Jul 2015 06:48 PM PDT I am turning sixteen in eleven months and I want to have a sweet sixteen party. However, my parents don t want to pay a lot and I don t want them to, either. While I ve always dreamed of having an extravagant party with lots of guests and a beautiful ballgown, I am a pretty humble person who would rather have a party in my backyard if that s what would make my parents happy. So, what my solution for all three of us is accommodating. I am trying to find venues that are on the smaller and less pricy side for the party, and dresses that are still beautiful and not tacky, but under $125.00. And I need help, I can t find anything! If you can help me find a venue, a dress, anything, I would be so happy. Thank you! |
Question: How to act when you don't like the bride? Posted: 26 Jul 2015 05:43 PM PDT I am going to a wedding in a few days and I'm going to dress nice because I don't want to be rude. The only reason I'm going is because my parents are making me. I don't want to be mean to the bride, how should I congratulate her? She has always been very loud, bossy, and mean to us...it won't be easy to be nice. Thanks and sorry I know this sounds very silly. I know to congratulate them and I will. Also just because I still live with my parents doesn't mean I'm a little kid... |

Question: What gift should I get for a wedding? Posted: 26 Jul 2015 12:33 PM PDT My cousin is getting married in September. I have been invited to his fiancées bridal shower. I am trying to decide what to get them as a gift. I have already bought them a really nice wedding frame. I was thinking about just giving that to them for the shower and then getting them a better gift closer to the wedding since I am low on money and couldn't afford to get them anything really nice. My question is, when it comes to the second gift, I was thinking about getting the bride some things at Bath & Body Works or do you think I should stick with what is on their gift registry? The picture frame wasn't on their registry, but when I saw it, I know they will love it! |
Posted: 26 Jul 2015 10:22 AM PDT I've been invited to a wedding, which is this weekend. A few weeks ago, the bride private Facebook messaged me and a handful of other guests (about 8 of us I believe) and asked if we'd be available to help her set up the venue the day of the wedding. I had not responded because I wasn't sure at the time when I'd be arriving to the wedding, as the location is 3 hours from me. This morning, I get a group text from one of the girls who agreed to help out. She forwarded us an itinerary from the bride stating what we need to do. We need to arrive at 9:45 am and help set up the tables, arrange the centerpieces, etc. Then at 3:30 we need to return to set the tables, put out the beer, wine, and ice, and the guests' favors, and hang bows and stuff. The ceremony starts at 5:30. I don't know, maybe I'm wrong (please tell me if I am), but I think it's inappropriate for the bride to ask a few of her guests who are traveling to attend her wedding to help set it up for her. Aren't you supposed to hire people to do that? Why should a guest set up the venue? I also never even responded saying that I could help, the bride just assumed that I'm helping I guess because my name is on her itinerary but I wont be arriving until around 3pm anyway, so I physically can't help. I reached out and let the friend who sent the itinerary know this. Am I wrong or is this weird? Hi, thanks for the answers so far. To answer your questions, no I am not in the wedding party, and as I stated already, the reason I did not reply was because I didn't know when I'd be arriving to the town the wedding is being held in due to my work schedule. |
Posted: 26 Jul 2015 09:56 AM PDT I know this is most commonly a male service member tradition but being in the Marines I would like to incorporate what makes me myself. Or would this be weird? My groom is a veteran who will not be wearing his service dress blues. |

Posted: 26 Jul 2015 09:08 AM PDT Is there anyone who knows of anywhere in the Chicago area that would be great for a winter wedding? I'm about 50 miles from Downtown, so anywhere in that radius is good. I'm looking for somewhere maybe a little lesser known. If it cam down to it, even outside would be nice, but Chicago winters have been unforgiving the last few years! |
Question: Is there anything wrong with a short wedding and reception? Posted: 26 Jul 2015 05:49 AM PDT My fiance and I are in the military. We're originally from Sioux Falls, SD. We are choosing to have a two hour wedding and reception. There will be plenty of food and drinks for everyone. We aren't having alcohol, dancing or entertainment. There have been many people who are complaining about our wedding plans. They say that it's not worth coming just for two hours. We want a simple, short, wedding and reception. |
