Posted: 19 Jul 2015 11:37 PM PDT is it rude to not approach the bride and groom? is it okay to just smile at them and smile from the distance when they see i've arrived? im very shy i used to be outgoing and fun and free spirited in high school but after doing online college for 4 years i've become socially awkward and reserved. is a smile and a wave good enough for acknowledgement? in movies i see other humans having at least five minute conversations with the bride and groom. is that how i am supposed to act? |
Posted: 19 Jul 2015 11:14 PM PDT Hi, so I'm getting married the same day as another bride. The church contacted both of us to try and have us share flowers- especially the flowers for the altar and pew decorations. However, while this would be great for some people, our colors, especially for flowers, are NOTHING ALIKE. I have coral & blush (to match my blush dress) peonies, with a bit of purple flowers here and there, while the bride has red roses and blue bonnets. Upon hearing her colors and flowers, I immediately said no. However, the church coordinators, and occasionally the family of this other bride, keep on bothering me about it. Both keep saying that maybe we should "compromise" on flowers, and just do all purple and white. I was like no way, but this other bride couldnt agree to compromise fast enough. Then the church informed me that since it appeared I was making more than this other girl, that I should compromise, or perhaps change my colors all together because it would be the "kind thing to do" by helping this girl out and splitting the cost 50/50. I refuse to do this. How do I get these people to back off? I dont want to have my wedding elsewhere but i will if i have to nope, no signed agreement that i would share the flowers i have planned on paying for my own flowers from the very beginning i'm a bit worried that if i dont compromise, they'll screw up my flowers somehow |

Question: Will i marry this guy? what does my dream mean? Posted: 19 Jul 2015 10:51 PM PDT last night i dreamt that I was engaged/dating a close friend of my ex In my dream, i confronted him about something he had said- & then he pulled $17 out of his wallet & told me to take it. I handed back 7, keeping the 10 (or maybe it was the other way around), & told him I'd rather talk to him than have the money. So he took me to dinner. I dont remember what was said, other than by the end of it we were officially dating. a while later (still in the dream), we were in a kind of secluded wilderness, kissing, being playful, dancing, cuddling, snuggling under a blanket & his coat (it was cold outside- looked like sometime in november or late october). I was wearing a dressy, short-sleeved brown shirt with a nice yellow skirt and cute boots- no coat, he was wearing a casual dress shirt with pants and a coat. somehow at the end of that day in the dream i had an engagement ring on & we were engaged! then a few days later, we went out to dinner again. we were walking around the city, & we got separated for a bit. when we found each other again, he kissed me & hugged me & held me close. then, unfortunately i woke up. _____ see update for more detail the weird thing is, i have never really liked this guy, & this guy hasn't been too fond of me either. The last time we saw each other was almost a year ago, & when we did see each other we just stared at each other for a bit, him a bit a longer. I hadn't really thought of him until a month ago, when I saw a pic of him & thought, "hey he's kinda cute." but i haven't thought of him since. |
Question: Rehearsal Dinner Invite Etiquette? Posted: 19 Jul 2015 08:01 PM PDT I know that for a rehearsal dinner, immediate family and dates/spouses are supposed to be invited. However, we are having a small wedding that encompasses little more than immediate family (<75 people) and my fiance has 7 brothers (4 half and 3 step), 5 of which he is not close to. Is it necessary to invite all those people to the rehearsal dinner, which would blow our budget. Also, I'm not sure they would come, because they live about 1.5 hours away and wouldn't want to get a hotel room. Also, his family is not paying for it, we are. Advice? |
Question: I was invited for a wedding with just a card. Should I go? Posted: 19 Jul 2015 05:23 PM PDT One of my distant relative is getting married. We are not that close and they live far away too in another state. They invited me and my family for their wedding with just an invitation card (RSVP). They have not even called me let me know that he is getting married. I feel like they should have called me along with card. Should I attend this wedding? |
Question: How to choose a maid of honor? Posted: 19 Jul 2015 01:21 PM PDT I'm getting married and I'm so excited but I'm not sure what to do about choosing the whole maid of honor. I don't have any sisters or female cousins that I'm close to and I do have my best friend but her maid of honor is her sister and in the Italian wedding culture (possibly also every culture) usually you're the maid of honor at your maid of honor's wedding (I'm not sure if you understand?). But would it be acceptable/weird if I made her my maid of honor even if I wasn't hers? |
Question: Grew up going to a small church, should I invite everyone to my wedding? Posted: 19 Jul 2015 12:42 PM PDT I grew up going to the same little church since I was 10 years old. I am now 22. Half of the congregation has been invited with formal invitations, since I have known them for a long time and they are family friends. I feel closer to them. The other half I didn t send invitations to is comprised of newer people, or people I see every Sunday but don t know very well. The ones I don t see outside of church, such as the older members. I have known them for a long time but never see them outside of church. Lately, a few have been asking me about the wedding, like where it will be and if my sister is maid of honor. Just little things. I am feeling really guilty for not inviting them and now I m wondering if I should reconsider. I ve heard of people doing an open invitation as a church announcement and am curious if it worked out well. I would also invite them to the reception if they RSVP d |
Posted: 19 Jul 2015 08:05 AM PDT I agreed to be the Maid of Honor for my friends wedding and with that I knew I was responsible for the shower and bachelorette parties. I'm struggling to be excited for her bachelorette party though since I just got married a couple months before my friend and never received a party. I had a smaller ceremony and chose not to have anyone stand up. All the girls went to dinner the night before the wedding and no one did a single toast or offered to pay for my meal as the bride. I was just a little let down with this since I thought my family and friends would step up to the plate. Now that I'm throwing my friend a party, I feel hurt that she never thought to do something special for my day. Two notes: 1. I agreed to be MOH over a year ago before I got married. 2. I'm not playing tit for tat. I will throw her a fantastic party. I'm not going to ruin her day. I just feel annoyed that I put this effort into these things and they are expected but I didn't receive any of the same thought in return. |
Posted: 19 Jul 2015 05:18 AM PDT I have to get a gift for a couple who have a wedding registry at Williams-Sonoma. The only gifts left are things that a guy wouldn't but (fragrances, etc.) or a steel set of tongs that are on back order until October. I'd like to get the tongs but they won't arrive until October. Will the couple be able to check the registry and see that I've gotten the gift for them in the meantime? Thanks. |

Question: What types and brands of wine/beer should I have at my wedding? Posted: 18 Jul 2015 10:24 PM PDT We are serving wine and beer at our wedding. We re not huge drinkers, and we usually settle on whatever is cheap. I know that my favorite type of wine is Asti, which is a sparkling wine. Other than that, I have no clue what to get! |
