Seeing the divorce rate and men getting dragged into courts and forced to pay child support /alimony, why would you still get married ?

My husband and I are not legally married. We call each other Husband & Wife, because we feel we are married in the eyes of God. . He is in the hospital, and today, a Social Worker told me that I cannot call myself his wife. We plan to get married but his hospitalization has delated us. Is there something I truly gave no say. My ex and I broke up when we were 18 and got back together after 5 years of being broken up. I've been married 24 years to a faithful great husband. We've never had intimacy issues or cheating issues prior. It's the morning of his Bday. For months I planned a big party for this Sat. I planned a heartfelt gift, a funny gift, and a sexy outfit.
