Question: Thanksgiving with gastric bypass? Posted: 20 Nov 2018 02:11 PM PST I just had gastric bypass surgery, however I don't want to tell any of my family they are not supportive. Due to my recover from surgery, I am on clear liquid diet. How can I explain to my family, I only want broth for thanksgiving dinner? |
Question: What should I do with my mom ? Posted: 20 Nov 2018 01:39 PM PST I live only with my mom. She always wants to know where I am, with whom. She doesn't let me go out later than 8pm. She freaking won't let me stay at my friends' houses. When i start telling her my thoughts about this, she turns the subject so i turn out to be in fault. I have never ever had a boyfriend. I was always afraid of my mom's reaction. I feel so hopless right now to be honest. My best friend says i will always listen to her and do whatever she tells me. I hate the thought of not living my best life, not achieving my dreams. I turn 19 next month My family is half georgian half armenian, and we have very specific traditions. My relatives would FREAK OUT if they even hear about me moving out |

Question: What to call an absent father? Posted: 20 Nov 2018 01:24 PM PST My father didn't raise me but we've been reconnecting lately via email. I don't feel right calling him dad or by his first name... I haven't been addressing him whatsoever. |
Question: Can you help find my ring? Posted: 20 Nov 2018 12:34 PM PST My mom had a ring she lent to me when I was 10 because I was going to move away with my dad. It was a simple sterling silver ring with a frog on it. It means a lot to her because her dad gave it to her and he has since passed away. Things happened and I lost it, not knowing the importance of it. I've seen some pictures but the closest one I've found has moving parts and hers didn't. I'm trying to find an exact copy of possible |

Question: Mom screams at me and my dog attacks me? Posted: 20 Nov 2018 12:21 PM PST I'm 16 years old, my mom screams at me all of the time and even if I'm not yelling back, as she gets louder he barks like he's a completely different dog and attacks me. My mom doesn't seem to care even though she's said before "if he ever attacks you he's gone" but obviously that was a lie. If I'm screaming from the dog attacking me she just yells at me even more to stop screaming 'because someone will call the police' so she cares more about the neighboring hearing than me getting bit. I want to move out because I can't stand it anymore this happens at least 3 times a week but I'm too young. I don't know what to do I don't even feel safe around my own dog anymore |
Question: How often should a sister see her niece ? Posted: 20 Nov 2018 11:53 AM PST I just had a baby a few months ago . My sister always wants to FaceTime the baby everyday . Sometimes I cannot answer . She wants to babysit every Saturday . Is that too much ? I only see my aunts on the holidays even when I was little |
Question: I fear my mentor doesn't like me because of this...how should I go about situation? Posted: 20 Nov 2018 11:46 AM PST I have a a mentor who is very nice/supportive and treats me as if I'm her daughter (I'm 13 and she's 27) She added my parents on Facebook and I found her siblings' profile and it's nothing but politics on people of color (I'm a POC and she's caucasian) about how they need to "pull themselves up by their bootstraps" "stop being so poor and get off their asses and work" and "leave this country if you hate it so much" I have mixed feelings because she's so sweet to me but I can't help if all her family members have these beliefs and feelings towards people who look like me, that she must share some if not all of them too, right? (her FB is just about dogs and eating healthy) It makes me sad because does she feel that way about me? Does she feel that way but is only being nice because I'm just a child? I want her to be my mentor but I don't want to have someone who supports beliefs like that. I don't really know how to go about the situation. And it's not like she could possibly be estranged from her family because she tells me about them all the time and how she loves them how much fun things to do together so..idk I know I have no right to assume , and putting this on her is exactly what her siblings are doing towards people of color (because surely they haven't met eery POC to make a finite judgement about us) but I don't want to turn a blind eye to this either. |
Question: Why do my kids insist on fighting? Posted: 20 Nov 2018 11:33 AM PST My daughter is 15, my son is 13. Everyday is some massive fight. The pattern is One will do something to intentionally annoy the other, retaliation, brawl What I have attempted to do is pull my daughter aside, tell her that because she's the oldest and is now in high school, she should learn to be above fighting, but its not working. I get it, they're siblings, they're teenagers, I fought with my older sister back in the day, but eventually we realized how dumb it was. What do I say to them? |

Question: How to deal with Mom who moved 2 hours away? Posted: 20 Nov 2018 11:25 AM PST I'm 30 with a husband and 2 small kids of my own. My mom left her boyfriend to go back to her hometown to live with my grandmother. I hated when she left but I had no room for her here. She has never worked and has never drove before so my grandmother took her in instead. I tried to get her feet on the ground here but she wouldn't do that. They live 2 and a half hours away from me. I try to visit at least every other month while I can between everything I have going on here with work and family. Well my grandmother doesn't drive either because of health reasons so my aunt goes by to take her to the store and doctor appointments since she lives there. Well my mom and aunt can't get along and it's putting stress on my grandmother. She has even went to another anti depressant since my mom moved in. I feel awful. I want to help her but she won't let me. Well the boyfriend wants my mom back but she doesn't trust him even though he drives the 2 hours to go see her almost every other weekend. I would love to have my mom back though. So my mom just sits there in the house all day and can't go nowhere. Not even the grocery store because my mom is not allowed in my aunts car anymore and this has been going on for a year |
Question: What's the best punishment when a teen step child is bullying your 9 year old? Posted: 20 Nov 2018 11:04 AM PST My step daughter (14 years old) was caught bullying my 9 year old son. She has been for a while. She was recently caught yelling at him in a low deep voice saying she's gonna kill him & that he's selfish and sucks his mommas ****. She said, I'll always be older than you, always! She said, Sit down or i'm gonna punch you, ONE, TWO, are you ready to get punched? get your face up get ready! Her dad took away her phone, and verbally yelled at her. That was it. I am livid! This isn't the only problem with her, there have been countless others. This one is just on the forefront at the moment. |
Question: What is the difference between a good dad and an amazing dad? Posted: 20 Nov 2018 11:00 AM PST I'm giving a speech at my dad's 50th birthday ( it has been over 250 years since a man reached 40 in my family so 50 is a huge deal!) I want to get some ideas of what to talk about :) |
Question: Why does the mother have to be with the father in order for him to be in the childs life? Posted: 20 Nov 2018 10:16 AM PST If the woman says she doesn't want anything with him, but for him to be in his childs life then why not? Are there really more deadbeats than fathers? All because she doesn't want to be with him? |
Question: My boyfriend’s nephew jealous of me and my son? Posted: 20 Nov 2018 09:39 AM PST My boyfriend's nephew (nearly 10) lost his father recently to an aggressive form of colonrectal cancer. He has always been close with his nephew and their family is one that is close knit. Bf's nephew has been acting out, understandably, due to losing his father and it was horrible tragedy to witness a happy family torn apart. My son (6) who is not my bf's bio child seems to be taking the blunt end of this treatment from his nephew and will stop him from playing with other kids when we're over or avoid my son and make it as if he is not there or is a nuisance. I'm treated in a similar fashion. I've talked to my bf about it, but it seems he sides with his nephew and me and my son should just conform to the behavior. It's a very touchy subject anyway. I'm sure this could be a nonissue but it still hurts in a way and my son feels alienated from bf's family because of it. What do I do or should do next? |
Posted: 20 Nov 2018 09:38 AM PST I got beaten up often as a kid. Be it a severe beating or just slapping and they called me names. They would use belts, this sticks or their hands, they even went as far as grabbing my throat and pennino me against the wall. They were both working when I was growing up so I didn't really develop a habit of openly talking to them either. One of the examples follows my days when I was around 5 or 6 years old. I was at the playground with my friend. It was only 3 minutes away from my house. I forgot the time so when I came back mom beat my legs with a thin sticks until they started bleeding and then wrapped them in wet cold rags to "health faster". Another is when I was 14, it was New Years Eve and my dad's father died on the 22nd that month. But my brother and I were happy that we got presents from mom's employer/friends and one of the presents for me were UGG boots. When dad told me to do something I said I will as soon as I try them on. He then got angry and told me again and I answered that he doesn't need to get mad because I will do it in 10 seconds. He got even more angry and beat me fpr not doing what hr said that exact second. I would also get slapped or hit for talking back and I once got my throat grabbed a few times when my grades at school weren't good. As fpr names they called me pig, cow, piece of ****, etc I'm 19 now, will be 20 in february. I can't move out since I have no job and it still didn't completely stop. What do I do? |

Question: How can I convince my mom to spend thanksgiving at my lace not hers? PLEASE HELP.? Posted: 20 Nov 2018 07:41 AM PST I live with my grandparents and my mom lives with he husband in which I don't feel comfortable around and my aunt is driving two hours away just to come for thanksgiving but she doesn't want to spend it at my grandparetns/my place for the excuse that the dog doesn't stay as calm as my moms place, also my dad will not go to my moms place since it would be a little awkard, how can I make my mom understand that I want to spend thanksgiving with my dad as well and the only way that's possible is if we spend it at my place. |
Question: Can guys accept my sister as just a friend? Posted: 20 Nov 2018 07:07 AM PST I am not sure how I should feel about what my 16 year old sister Ann is doing. I am her 20 year old brother. I really like her and I am VERY protective of her. She has developed into a very beautiful woman. She is mature far beyond her age. She knows how guys think probably from being around me and my brothers. When my buddies come over to my house to hang out, they just love it when she talks and jokes around with them. I also know how guys think and I have told them repeatedly she is not flirting with them. She is just an outgoing and fun loving person that is totally at ease with guys. She wants to be their buddy, not their girlfriend. Can guys my age accept her as a friend and buddy and not as a potential girlfriend. Please tell me what you think. |

Question: I want so help with this.? Posted: 20 Nov 2018 06:36 AM PST I live with my aunt and uncle, i am homeschooled. My uncle constantly yells at me and pushing me. He says i'm not doing anything. I work for hours he doesn't ******* check, my aunt does. It angers me that he he doesn't ******* look. And other times He'll threaten me and make me want to die. I wish I was exaggerating. There's to much pressure and I want an escape. |
Posted: 20 Nov 2018 06:34 AM PST Her children were destroyed as family because of the narcissistic mother who is my Mom's estranged sister. |
Posted: 20 Nov 2018 06:33 AM PST Her niece I know and like but she blocked me as did the aunt, her sister, and a cousin of hers. The cousin's daughter still has me. The aunt is one of those bad people who does not believe in forgiving. Common Sense -- Why in the world would I harass them? I like them or I otherwise wouldn't care. The aunt has the weakness of not believing in forgiveness but that is between her and God. She is not an aunt anymore anyway because of the divorce. Doesn't mean we have to hate her or her family though. I liked her family a lot. |
Question: How should I address my absent father? Posted: 20 Nov 2018 03:22 AM PST He played very little to no part in my life. Walked out when I was really young. He's always scared me. My maternal grandparents and my older sisters raised me. But I am growing up and he and I have been communicating via email for the past year... I've avoided addressing him all together. I haven't called him "dad" since I was at most 13, and I haven't even seen him since I was 16. When I was like a tween I remember he tried to get us (he has 6 kids) to call him pops, and I think that's what he has my nieces and nephews call him. Should I try to suck it up and call him "dad?" My body absolutely cringes each time I type that out. I don't think I could address him by his first name - some of my sisters do, but I think it's a little weird. There's a lot to him and what he's done to me, way more than I could ever write here. I am trying to get over it. Maybe addressing him will help. |
Posted: 20 Nov 2018 01:15 AM PST I am 15 years old. Yesterday I asked my dad and stepmom if I could just skip Thanksgiving this year and stay in my room. They wanted to know the reason why. I lied and told them I thought it was stupid. My stepmom didn't believe me and kept stop pestering me. So I told her the truth. I don't like how my dad's family treats my stepmom. They are always complains way too much and they put my stepmom down. My stepmom told me ignore them. I also told my stepmom that I didn't want anything for Christmas now she thinks I am depressed. |
Question: Are people supposed to be THIS shallow? Posted: 20 Nov 2018 12:50 AM PST Usually whenever I'm around my mom, she comments on my hair and touches it.she told me when we were living in detriot, my hair always looked good and now that we are in a ''white neighborhood" my hair looks matted to my head. She gets at me when i just woke up and have bedhead, but she wil say this regardless if i brushed it not. My family usually says my hair makes me look like a anime character(usually a male one) which i think is mean and stupid. My mom can be so harsh and mean that i cry and everyone thinks i'm at fault. She and my family always buys stuff that doesn't express who I really am, like they hate the real me. Then again, they are all a bunch of fundies who never question anything, like "why are we buying her stuff she does not even like"? |
Question: What is wrong with my mom and step dad? Posted: 19 Nov 2018 11:04 PM PST The other day my mom was watching a movie where this high schooler falls in love with some 40 yr old and there are sex scenes of them, I thought it was disgusting. But my mom thought the actor playing the high school kid was hot so it was okay. Then, I put on a show that shows a small sex scene of 2 lesbians a few days later. She and my step dad start making comments about how it was repulsive and of the devil that they were having sex. So I brought up the pedophile movie and she and my step dad say that s different because they were in love. This is only one of the many retarded beliefs my mother and step father share. I m 16 and although I only have 2 yrs left I feel like I need to run away before I do something really crazy. If I were to explain all the bullshit going on in my house I would need to right a book. Help me. |
Question: How do I not get in trouble? Posted: 19 Nov 2018 10:13 PM PST I bought panties from Victoria's Secret for a female friend I'm a guy if it helps I'm 19 but live with my mom she's gonna see the package and it's not gonna at H&M or Nike... |

Question: How can i share my feelings towards my mother? Posted: 19 Nov 2018 08:50 PM PST Would your mother call you a piece of garbage? Would your mother tell you that she hated you? Well guess what, my mother has. My mom isn't very loving or very nice. She yells at me to do things that I shouldn't even have to do like care of her own pet that I didn't want in the first place. I'm starting to not love her as much as I did when I was younger. She has bipolar disorder and refuses to take medicine she believes that she does not have bipolar disorder. She's very hypocritical when it comes to talking to her. Whenever I talk to her she always takes things into the wrong context. And when I do she usually gets mad, and if I may ask how do I deal with a situation, I cannot live like this, I have been living like this for over 13 and a half years. I am finally fed up with it and I wish you take action but I do not know how. That is why I need your help, how should I talk to her? |

Question: How should I handle my husband’s evil/fake step mom? Posted: 19 Nov 2018 08:26 PM PST His step mom basically came from nothing and has everything now because of my father in law and has been married to him for 11 years now. I see the dirty stuff she does without any of the men noticing like my father in law and sometimes husband and his brother. My husband and brother in law do believe she is a gold digger, but she has their dad and grandparents on her good side. It's annoying because my husband and his brother get pushed to the side because we don't have the kind of money the rest of their family has. My husbands dad's side is loaded money wise, especially the grandparents and I think that's why she tries to butter up to them. I see right past her evil ways and sometimes I want to call her out but it'll put my husband in a weird spot with his dad. My husbands brother hasn't been around his dad or step mom in 3 years because he is sick of their ways and his step mom tells me on holidays to invite my brother in law Bc none of them will call him and invite him themselves and they claim to be Christians. My father in law will not even pick up the phone to see if my brother in law is ok, they put me and my husband in the middle of it and we are absolutely sick of it!! How can you go THREE years without talking to your first born son? All they care about is money and stature! I want to cut them off but my husband won't allow it.She has even gone as far as hurrying to her closet to make sure their safe was locked when she saw me heading to the bathroom. |
Question: Strict sister and guardianship? Posted: 19 Nov 2018 07:59 PM PST I did not want guardianship at all,but my older sister pretty much forced me to say yes to my attorney. Up until now I've been stressed out about it. I'm 18 and legally blind and in Florida. I'm slowly learning how to cook on my own and graduating highschool in 2019,how can I cope with this? And how do I know if the guardianship isn't permanent? Every time I ask,she starts saying things. |
Question: Should my mom allow her 95 year old mom to drive a car? Posted: 19 Nov 2018 07:52 PM PST Years ago, my grandma got t boned by a drunk driver and totaled her car. She another car and continues to drive despite having glaucoma and having to go to the DMV every year to renew her license due to her age. My mom is a nurse and I told her she should know better than to patronize her mother this way. She refuses to take her keys away and says that on Weds she has to take her to register her car when she promised to watch the kids so that I can start prep on the TG dinner and finish cleaning the house. She claims she never agreed and that this is more important (and also will be taking her to the beauty shop and dentist). I am livid, as my husband works out of town and I told them that they are now uninvited for TG due to her immaturity. What is right here? |
Question: How can I try make money easily? Posted: 19 Nov 2018 07:45 PM PST Hi. I'm a teenager, and I worry a lot about money. No, not for myself, but for my family. When I was 10, my family split up and now I live with my dad & two siblings. My mom lives in another country, as well as my 2 eldest siblings. I currently live in New Zealand, and my family- we struggle a lot. We don't get much money and unfortunately my dad is becoming too sick and old to get a job. I can't get a job because 1) My dad doesn't want me to think that it's a responsibility, 2) I can't afford to with all my school work and 3) Where I live in New Zealand; there's literally hardly any jobs anywhere. So my dad is on the benefit and earns money from the government to provide for his family, but we still struggle. My dad is getting worse, and I'm starting to worry. He's been in and out of hospital and the bills are high. My mom, she also pays child support for us, but she's struggling as well for being in debt. My siblings are just managing as well, and can't afford to do much to help, which I don't hate or blame them for. I want to help my dad, and so many people have told me 'But it's not your responsibility!', and as much as I know I just can't ignore the obvious struggle. I don't want my dad straining himself now. Please, I need ways to make at least some money to get a bit of weight off his shoulders. Jobs are insanely difficult to find thanks to living in such a rural area. Please help me. At least give some ideas. I'd be eternally grateful for your help. Thank you! |
Question: Pearl L is my favorite Yahoo Answers Member. What is her real full name? Posted: 19 Nov 2018 07:16 PM PST First and last (and middle if you know). |
Posted: 19 Nov 2018 07:14 PM PST I know it doesn't sound probable but he has a very uncomfortable air around him and I've never trusted him. For a young teen (I'm 13-14) I have slightly larger than normal breasts and a sort of curvy figure. Several months ago, I didn't regularly wear a bra, but I noticed my dad glancing at my chest whenever he walked up to me. I still don't know if he's actually looking or not, but I've also monitored my mom when she talks to me, and she doesn't look at all. Whenever we talk he maintains eye contact, but when ever he walks up to me, his eyes usually focus on either my breasts or eyes. I really can't tell. Besides this he's a lot taller than me, maybe I'm mistaken, but he's looking at my body one way or another. On another occasion when I was laying on my stomach, he walked up and put his foot on my back and just shook it... Idk, sounds like shenanigans, but maybe he was watching my butt... when we've hugged before also his hands wrap around to my armpits and just get uncomfortably close. I know I sound insane, he's probs just normal, but can I please get an opinion?? Is this at all normal? |
Question: Why do my parent name me a terrible name and how to revenge? Posted: 19 Nov 2018 05:55 PM PST First of all sorry for bad English, I am from a city close to Yanbuʻ al-Baḥr in Saudi Arabia. My parent name me a bad bad name. It sounds very bad bad. I was thinking of probably making a konkockshin of cleaners or something to probably make them all go loopy. Or my second plan was to put a gas into the house that makes people really sick (but not die) for a few days (or weeks) Any idea? |
Question: I want someone’s opinion on this? Posted: 19 Nov 2018 05:15 PM PST I live with my aunt and uncle because of a long story, and I'm homeschooled. I do as much as I possibly can. I wake up ~8:00. I have to start my work by 8:30 or I get yelled at. I do the most on math because I have the most issues with it and I want it over with. I have no one to talk to all day and when my uncle comes home he ignores me and just drinks beer and watches TV. He says I don't do anything and I just sit on my *** all day. I'm paraphrasing but that's the general idea of what he says. It genuinely hurts. I work for so many hours just to get yelled at. 8:30 to 3:30 with no breaks or i get yelled at. It's just the same cycle over and over. I wake up, do my work for hours nonstop and get punished for it. I just stay there and take what he says towards me. Because if I say anything it will make him yell more. It hurts me so much. If he would get up and go look at the damn computer he would see that I do more than sitting all day. My aunt gets home at 5:30-6:30 PM. She reviews everything and says I do good. I don't know if she does or does not tell my uncle. But it's not all good with her. She wants an impossible amount of work done. An entire subject in about a week from what I understand with her. There's so much pressure on me at all times. Sometimes I can't sleep. I want an escape. |
Question: My parents keep controlling my life and they won’t let me move out. What do I do? Posted: 19 Nov 2018 04:57 PM PST Basically, I'm 20 years old and I came home later than I was supposted to. I got grounded and my parents won't let me leave the house, give me any money or let me work. How do I tell them that I'm getting a job (that I already got just before I got grounded and I'm supposted to start working very soon) and moving out in a month, while trying to prevent getting kicked out immediately? |
Posted: 19 Nov 2018 04:56 PM PST Im so tired of being a house wife and home maker and mother. I wish someone else could take over cleaning and cooking and caring for the kids once in a while. Today the kids school was cancelled and I let them mess up the house and eat junk food and pretended to be asleep when my husband got home. I feel like he's my boss who doesn't understand me, all he wants to do is boss me around, and I can hardly deal with him anymore. Our friends and relatives make zero effort to have any part in our kids lives and I'm the only person they go to for attention or help or anything. They talk so much and need so much sometimes I'm just swearing in my head while I have a fake smile on "just a second sweety". |
Question: Why does she flirt with a younger boy like me and get shy? Posted: 19 Nov 2018 04:27 PM PST I met a girl a couple years older than me and she's a big sister figure to me.She was eavesdropping on my conversation and laughed loudly at my joke then asked me to repeat it personally to her when she heard it. Well after that she waits after class to say boo to playfully tease me. She then started chiming into my conversations and laughing at stuff I say, asking me to repeat stuff, responding to stuff I say or ask me questions. While talking she gets red hides smiles makes poor eye contact and pretty much hides her face and smiles. She stands around and hovers around me to try to talk to me approaching me with her friend. When I say hi first she blushes and smiles says hi back. I see her in the halls she can't even look me in the eyes say hi first. I told her friend I'm not into selfies she says "Me and Lexi are going to take care of that". The next day her friend comes and gets me the girl is wearing something that shows cleavage when she's usually covered. She blushes asks me to get closer to her. Whenever we talk she scares me.Then when I talk to her she calls me from across the room for a selfie then asks me to get closer. She sends the picture for me to post likes it then tells me in person she likes it.While talking she smiles and holds eye contact the whole time, when we're done we stand in silence she never stops staring. when I break eye contact she continues staring at me. She can only approach me with her friend. Why does she talk to and flirt with a younger boy |
Posted: 19 Nov 2018 03:30 PM PST I have another sibling who is coming to town with one of his sons so it won't be just the sister and my parents there with some extended family. The brother coming to town I like. This sister likes to criticize and bully everyone there. Our parents do nothing about it and now that we are adults my sister is past the point of changing so this will always be a problem. I love her as family but don't like her. I came from an upbringing of my mother hating much of her family of origin and bragging "a minister told me, you can dislike your family, just love them which only means pray for them" and she estranged herself from them. As a result me disliking my sister is hereditary. I don't want to be as bitter as my mother was as I would not have liked my Mom had she not been my Mom. So for Thanksgiving, how do I make a positive attitude about my sister being there even though I don't like her and she will be critical and degrading to me? When the other sister is there she won't even come sometimes cause the other sister's son is autistic. That is how bad it is (other sister is just fine). |

Posted: 19 Nov 2018 03:13 PM PST I know it was not the nicest thing to say but my Mom is acting like it was something so much worse. My Mom was mad at him cause he doesn't want his teenage kids around my brother cause my brother is a big druggy. I don't blame the uncle. He is getting divorced so maybe a little more moody right now. |
