Posted: 17 Nov 2018 07:43 PM PST My boyfriend has a habit of being mean to me by calling me names and telling me to shut up, I respond back to him defending myself and then he tells me I hurt him and he wants to be left alone. He says my words are hurtful but I try and explain to him that calling me names and insulting me and putting me down hurts me, he always responds with "well don't start sh-t then" as a way to somehow justify his behavior. Lately he's been telling me that he wants to break up every time we argue and I deserve to be left alone, but then he will tell me how much I mean to him after I apologise for my words. Yes I have to apologise to him because he says he has feelings and the things I say hurt, but at the same time he's the one calling me names and putting me down every time he's mad. He's quick to anger but if I tell him to stop taking his anger out on me he will get worse with it to the point of pushing or grabbing me, I tell him not to do it but he says it wasn't so bad. I feel like he doesn't understand that his words and anger is abusive because I feel like I have to explain to him what it means to respect a woman. Another issue is I recently found out I'm pregnant by him. I don't know what to do about his behavior. Its like if I'm always saying good things to him even when he's being a jerk then he loves me, but if I'm realistic about how he hurts me he doesn't want to listen and ignores me and says I'm the hurtful person and thats why he doesn't want me. |
