Question: If you get married by a justice of the peace, will he bless the wedding in God's name? Posted: 09 Dec 2016 07:45 PM PST My fiance and I are thinking about getting married by a Justice of the Peace in our state of Texas. The question is whether Justices of the Peace recognize the ceremony is "under God" or will bless the wedding referencing God in their speech. |

We are just going to have the wedding at the justice of the peace cause we are not going to have one of those huge weddings just one with a few family members and a couple of friends we think but have a pretty reception somewhere nice afterwards...Someone tell me what you think? |

Question: Registry office wedding? Posted: 09 Dec 2016 05:13 PM PST I'm due to get married on May 20th 2017 but I have gotten bored of people telling me what we should and should not have or be doing, who we should and should not invite etc. I have been with my fiancé 7 years on January 20th and we will have been engaged for 2 years on the same date. We have 2 daughters, a house and everything else that is prioritised before the wedding. We booked a big wedding mostly because that's what we thought we wanted at the time and that's what everyone was expecting. Since then I have fell out with my grandad and his girlfriend and my granny. And myself and my fiancé don't speak to our dads side of the family. We have decided we would like to just do a registry office wedding on January 20th and a meal afterwards just having both of our parents and our daughters there and keeping it completely secret. But I then worry what people will say too. On the 16th January my nephew is due and on the 28th January my fiancé cousins are having a party to celebrate there engagement so I don't want people thinking we're trying to take any attention away from them because I'm doing this so we don't get any attention at all! Do you think it sounds like a better idea or should I just bite the bullet and stick with the originals? I have bad anxiety and I'm forever worrying about what everyone else is going to say. I just want to be married to my best friend but it's stressing me out. |
Question: Is it okay to wear a gown/dress that has a small train to a wedding? Posted: 09 Dec 2016 09:46 AM PST The rules of what's acceptable and taboo have changed so much in even just the past 10 years, that I don't know what to wear to a wedding I'm going to in a couple of weeks. It's an evening wedding, and it's pretty formal by the sounds of it. If I'm not mistaking, the rule used to be that no one else except for the bride and flower girls could wear white and/or a train at a wedding. Unfortunately, the only thing I have to wear that's formal enough has a small train. I have an idea in mind of how to temporarily fix it if I need to. |

Question: No one is coming to my wedding. Should we cancel and just have a courthouse wedding? Posted: 09 Dec 2016 09:41 AM PST After dating for 10 years , being engaged for 4 years, and knowing each other our whole lives me and my fiance were finally planning our wedding. Too bad nobody is coming. My family throws large weddings. My cousin's wedding last year had over 200 guests. We sent inviations out for our early spring wedding. We had to change the date once because my parents couldn't attend because of a cruise they were going on. We sent out 250 invitations mostly to our large families and have received about 100 of them back. Only 10 were affirmative. We rented a fairly large venue because we thought there would be a lot of people in attendence. The hall would look horrible if we had this few people. With our total guest count now standing at 42 people. Even my cousin who was one of my bridesmaids dropped out of the wedding because she won tickets to take her daughter to Disney world that weekend. My only great grandparent even said she wasn't sure if she would come at first because she forgot we weren't married already. The consensus seems to be why should we go to a wedding of a couple who is basically already married. Should we cut our losses and just go to the courthouse? I was really looking forward to an actual wedding on the scale of all the rest of my families but it doesn't look like it will happen. I have to have my ceremony in the hall it is at if I have a traditional ceremony. My grandma takes the same picture for all of her children and grandchildren at that venue that goes on her photo wall. It is a large catholic church which seat 350 people on the floor level. It is 42 total including me, my fiance, the wedding party, the photographer, and the organist. So the number of guests that fill the 350 seats is at 28 people. The aerial shot my grandma insists on will look horrible. |
Question: Do you have to wear a dress if getting married in a CourtHouse? Posted: 09 Dec 2016 09:18 AM PST My fiance and I have decided to get married in a courthouse for various personal reasons that I don't want to discuss with the public. One I will share is the recent unexpected passing of my father. I don't want to be anywhere near a church or an isle or anything all wedding-y and lovey. Some people think that's silly, but those same people also have both of their parents alive and well. My fiance understand that wish and supports it. My parents were married in a courthouse and they had a perfect marriage. My brother spent over $30,000 on his wedding. Where or how, or even how much spent, doesn't mean you will have a better marriage. Anyway- back to my question. I don't do dresses. I've never worn them. (Well when I was a baby I had no choice. LOL) I hate them. My fiance also understands this and says he doesn't care if I wear jeans, all that matters is me being his wife. :) My friend got married in a court wearing this really cute pant suit. Not like a ladies business suit but a really pretty, dressed up, girly pant suit, Of course I'm going to wear whatever I want anyway, but a lot of people are telling me I HAVE to wear a white wedding dress. It doesn't matter, right? I can go to Macy's or something and pick out something really cute that I know my fiance would love me in. :) <3 |

Question: Would it be bad luck to wear my mom's wedding dress to my wedding? Posted: 09 Dec 2016 09:16 AM PST My parents got divorced seven years into their marriage, but her dress is gorgeous and it'd save a lot of money to just alter it instead of buying a whole new dress... Do you think it'd be bad luck to wear hers? |
Question: Wedding dress code: fabulous? Posted: 09 Dec 2016 09:11 AM PST I would like to attend my friends' wedding. On the invitation card, it says "dress code:fabulou". What does it mean? Can I wear business casual or even smart casual? Also, what kind of gift I should give to my friend? Is it appropriate to give cash directly to them? |
Question: Average diamond size for engagement ring? Posted: 09 Dec 2016 08:14 AM PST i'm in the process of starting to look around for an engagement ring for my gf of 5 years. i'm in my mid-20s and am making 41,000 dollars a year. i was thinking of spending around 3-4 thousand. from my research it seems like it would be 1-1.25 carats (she wants a cushion cut). However, does that make me seem really cheap? my gf is easily pursuaded by those around her. her little sister (finished college last year and is still unemployed so i believe she's out of touch with reality as she is mooching off her parents and my gf) was saying 2.0 is too small and it needs to be bigger than a 2. her other friend who has a 2.0 crt was talking about how the diamond should be perfect and the resale value. i'm like, wtf? resale value? i figured i'd just get a grade/shade that looks really nice. in addition, she did have another friend who had a 1.0 which looked really nice. her family is a lot of debt so her savings are going to help her family out and i'm probably going to be paying for the whole wedding (not sure if my parents will help, i figure i'd have to be engaged before asking them but i think they would contribute some). let me knwo waht you think or what size/type/cost that you got for your girl or you got from your guy. thanks! |
Question: What's the difference between a maid of honour and chief bridesmaid? Posted: 09 Dec 2016 07:52 AM PST My sister who is 25 and unmarried was originally the maid of honour, and me (21, unmarried) my niece (11, obviously unmarried) was bridesmaids. Today the victor told us that I should be the chief bridesmaid instead of a bridesmaid. Is this correct? Should I be maid of honour and my sister chief bridesmaid? I don't understand it. |
Posted: 09 Dec 2016 05:35 AM PST well i have this beautiful ring from my fiancee that is my promise ring/engaggment ring and i want it to be my wedding ring. my fiancee however thinks we should get a new engaggment ring like a princess cut or something like that and a new wedding ring. hes like "you can of course keep and wear your promise ring but on your right hand. i want to get you a real wedding ring set." so my question is do i let him or do i put my foot down and say i want my promise ring as my wedding ring and thats final? so what do i do? im not a selfish person as some of you might think. my ring is just very imortant to me and i dont want to take it off my left had and replace it with a new ring. ya know? |
