Question: Is it rude to ask people to be a bridesmaid via text message? Posted: 12 Dec 2016 03:52 PM PST I am still in the early stages of planning my wedding and i already have a good idea on who I want to have as my bridesmaids. I haven't asked anybody yet but i am thinking of sending a group text to all the girls I am asking. I think it would be easier since it would be all at once. I told my fiance and he said it would be tacky. What do you think? |
Question: Need Help!!! Pwez :) Creating a Romantic / Witty New years Invitation.? Posted: 12 Dec 2016 03:45 PM PST I've booked 2 tickets for a new years Train Ride for me and my gf and plan on surprising her with it as a christmas gift. How ever I'd like to make an invitation card of sorts but more of a romantic poem invite. I'm trying to go with an AB AB, CD CD, EF EF, GG type but I'm horrible at rhyming and trying to be witty / funny... I'd like something a long the lines of this, but a longer verse. Details of the trip are Train, Dinner, Midnight Toast, Live music, Dancing. Leave at 7pm, Train Departs at 8:45. Its a 28 mile train ride This is something like what I want but its way to short for what I'd like and needs to include the details of the event |
Question: Can you define what a wedding "theme" actually is? Posted: 12 Dec 2016 03:16 PM PST I know we have discussed this before, but I'm still curious. Some people talk about having "themes" for their weddings. Sometimes it can be something elaborate, like a Halloween theme, beach theme, mardi gras theme, Twilight theme, Romeo and Juliet theme, colonial theme, etc. Sometimes the theme seems to be an object, like hearts or doves or so on. And sometimes the theme is something more intangible, like "Sailing off into the sunset," "Robbed by love," "Traveling the world together" or goodness who knows. I don't get wedding themes. Never had and still don't. When people say, "I need to find a theme for my wedding" what exactly do they mean? Do they mean one of the elaborate things above, like "Should my wedding be Peter Pan themed, or should it be a Christmas in July theme?" Or, on the other hand, by "theme" do they mean the style and general appearance of the event, like the underlying design? If so, then maybe more of us have themes than we thought? For example, say my fiance and I really like orange and yellow polka dots. So we put orange and yellow polka dots on our invitations. Then we decide to put them on our wedding website. Then we find a way to incorporate them into the BM dresses or the menus or the decorations at the reception. So, does that mean we have a theme of orange and yellow polka dots? Just curious what ya'll think. I don't think weddings need themes at all -- it's a wedding! That's the theme! -- but some consistent design elements do make sense to me. |
Question: Should I remove my engagement ring while working on art? Posted: 12 Dec 2016 02:56 PM PST I recently received an engagement ring that has a sapphire center stone with channel set diamonds on the band. I've also recently picked up art as a hobby and am wondering if I should worry about getting paint etc. on the ring. I work mostly in acrylics and oils, but also hope to get into pastels and watercolor. Could any of these mediums or their related materials do permanent damage to my ring? Are there any tips to removing paint should any get on it? Thanks! |
Question: Is getting married expensive? Posted: 12 Dec 2016 12:17 PM PST My bf and I have been talking about marriage a lot, but he is about to start 3 years of lawschool and be pretty broke. I am on a teacher's salary and for just one person its more than enough. He says he wants to get married after he finds a job so that he will have money to "afford" marriage. Is it really that expensive? How do 18-20 year olds afford it when we can't? I know the wedding and honeymoon and house are expensive, but we are very traditional to my parents would do the wedding (not sure about his doing the honeymoon though), and I already have enough saved up for a down payment on a small house or condo! So my question is: How expensive was it when you got married? Where you financially stable? Did you struggle financially after marriage? Just curious! Thanks! Oh... and he also can't afford an engagement ring right now being a student and all...thats legitimate though I guess. |
Question: Copy/pasting a map into a wedding invitation? Posted: 12 Dec 2016 12:09 PM PST A couple of my friends are getting married next month. Their wedding invitations are done except for the map which shows guests how to find the chapel and reception out in the country. They have tried to copy and paste the map from Google Maps and Mapquest and it won't work. Any suggestions on how to make this work? |
Question: Do you dance at weddings? Posted: 12 Dec 2016 09:47 AM PST I don't love the macrena, the funky chicken, the bunny hop, etc. My friends and I don't typically go out dancing. I'm just wondering whether most people consider dancing an essential part of a reception. |
Question: Not allowed to dance at a baptist wedding? Posted: 12 Dec 2016 09:37 AM PST I have been going to a baptist church with my fiacee for two years now. We plan to be wed in February of next year. In my family dancing is a HUGE thing. Several days ago my fiancee informed me that there will NOT be dancing at our reception and that we will only have a what I have called a "church dinner". He says "Dancing just does not happen at baptist weddings", then added "If your family wants to dance they can do so at a local bar". I have found nothing that says the waltz I want for my first dance is sinful nor have I found anything stating that the forms of dancing that my family has taught me are sinful (we are very into traditional dancing, not the grinding that is typical today). Can someone please tell me WHY dancing is shunned this way? |
Question: What will you do if you were in my place? degree or bf? Posted: 12 Dec 2016 08:01 AM PST I live in Australia and I am foreign student. I am 32 years old and I have a daughter 12 years old. I am mix race of African and Asian. I am doing MBA and I got scholarship from the univ. To make it short I met a guy thru dating app. We haven t met yet, however, we both developed strong feelings for each other. I can t stop think of him and he feels the same way. Once we talked through the phone around 7 hours non stop. He is 40 years old and has told me he feels more connected to me in few days than he felt with his ex partner he was with for 14 years. He means so much to me and we planned to meet Friday. I am bit worried about my grades and worried if I go into full relationship with him I might not be afraid ble to continue with my scholarship and I might get lower grades. What would you do if you were in my place? Thank u |
Question: Should you talk with your girlfriend about marriage? Posted: 12 Dec 2016 06:45 AM PST I don't believe in marriage. It's the government way to control your private life. |
Question: To the people who got married and have little to no friends or family? Posted: 12 Dec 2016 05:41 AM PST My boyfriend and I have been together for 5 years, We've talked about marriage a lot and I can just feel the engagement coming. I'm so nervous (already) about planning a wedding because I personally have very little family and no friends. He has lots of family, and a few close friends. What were your experiences with getting married in this type of situation, did you just elope? Have a "normal" wedding but with less people? etc? |
