I'm a woman getting married to another woman. I'm from a rural Midwestern town. We're getting married where my fiancée met and where we live now (Minneapolis). This is five hours from my hometown. I'm 29 and have kept in touch with six female friends from grades school. I'm the sixth out of our group of seven to get married. Four of weddings invited all the parents of each friend from the close group of seven. I'm having problems with the guest list as it is. My family is pretty religious and Conservative and some are not very happy that I'm a lesbian. Do I invite them anyway? I'm not really expecting some of my extended family members to attend since they don't support my relationship. Which is fine and I respect their beliefs. Do I invite my circle of friends' parents too? My own parents were invited to four of my friend's weddings. But I also haven't seen any of the families in three years (the last wedding). I wasn't out three years ago so I don't know if they support LGBT people or not. I don't want to leave people out yet I don't want to offend them.
