Question: It's nice to be needed but . . . . . ? Posted: 10 Dec 2018 01:48 PM PST I'll try to keep this short. I come from a large family. 6 other siblings. I'm 49 and I have a twin brother. He and I use to communicate / text often up until a few months ago when he blasted me to our entire family in a group text. Since then he and I haven't spoken much at all. He subsequently had to move back home with our parents because his second wife found out that he was cheating on her and despite all the advice I gave him he wouldn't stop. The stopped paying their mortgage, had to sell their house they built from the ground up, and have now split. He's back home with our parents sleeping on their sofa. When the house was sold he walked away with $26,000. Instead of trying to find an apartment he took $17,000 and bought a used Chevy Tahoe. He had a Trailblazer that there was nothing wrong with and just gave it to his son, in an attempt to keep up with the Jones' at his church. Ok, him and my 3 older brothers are living at home with our parents. My sister just text me saying that my mom wanted me to come by their house when I get off work to reset something. Their power went out due to the winter storm in our area and it just came back on and something is beeping. I work out of state and it takes me about an hour to get home. I don't mind helping my parents out but with 3 other grown men at home aged 49 and up, why do I need to go by there? Yes, my mom relies on me for stuff like this because I tend to be the one who can fix things. My brother even sent out a text saying that he was going to go to a hotel if the power didn't come back on soon because our mom had gone out and bought a couple a kerosene heaters and he didn't want his clothes smelling like kerosene. I have a suggestion, if you don't want your clothes smelling like kerosene, get your own place. I don't mind being needed and helping my parents out but is this a bit much? 3 grown men there and she calls me. I'm flattered but seriously. |
Question: My mom wants to die what should I do? Posted: 10 Dec 2018 01:41 PM PST She literally cries everytime I come home and at times will tell me that she is is tired of living. The only thing is that she will play loud music and cry loud as she can. |
Question: How can you tell if your home life is too toxic, or toxic at all? Posted: 10 Dec 2018 12:56 PM PST I'm honestly very confused about how I feel towards my home, more specifically, the people living in it. The environment is constantly tense, with my parents talking bad about each other to me and my sister and then both of them teaming up to yell at us. The emotions here change so fast, at one moment our mother will be happy and smiling at us and the next, she'll be yelling and telling us how we ruined her life, or something along those lines. We're home-schooled, so we don't have many moments out of the house away from her, since she only works a part-time job. Recently, my mother has been getting a lot harsher and stricter, with me especially. I'm a minor still, so I am aware that I need to be grateful for the fact that she gives me a roof over my head, some clothes, and food, but there's only so much I can take. She's started constantly monitoring what I'm doing, putting limits back on that I had in middle school. On top of that, her and my father always have some form of insult to say to me, whether it be that I'm 'damaged goods' or 'acting like a fre ak'. I'm an exceedingly anxious person, and she constantly pushes me about all that I'm anxious about, which often ends in me crying (alone obviously, she's never offered comfort). I honestly consider kxlling myself a lot, even though I know many others have it wayyy worse and I shouldn't complain about what I have, but I'm just reaching the point where I can't take anymore. Sorry for how whiny I sound. |

Question: Why does my step dad think he has any authority over me? Posted: 10 Dec 2018 11:15 AM PST My step dad and mom has been dating for no more than a month when he waltzed into the house, moved in, ruined our family dynamic, and married my mom. He isn't a good person, either. He demands respect despite having done nothing to earn it, and he is so unintelligent that it boggles my mind. I'm not a genius, sure, but I sometimes wonder if he would be categorized into the genre of human that needs special ed classes (to put it kindly). He's a bumbling idiot, a racist, a homophobe, a sexist, he's cruel, brash, loud, and overall just an awful person. My siblings agree, too. My mom is the only person in the family who wants him here. He constantly tells me what to do and demands respect. It's like he forgets that just because he married my mom doesn't make him my dad, and just because he's an adult doesn't mean he deserves respect. He's the most terrible person I have ever met, and every time he opens his mouth I lose all faith I previously had in humanity. I'm moving out in four years to live with my ACTUAL dad, a kind, patient, and intelligent soul. Still, I need help dealing with him for the time being. I don't want to obey him- obeying him would be feeding his fantasy that he has earned respect and love. Yet, I get in trouble when I don't. When he corrects me and I argue, I'm almost ALWAYS right. He treats my siblings horribly, he treats his own son horribly, and he treats my mom horribly. |
Question: Why does my step dad think he has any authority over me? Posted: 10 Dec 2018 11:06 AM PST He and my mom dated for no more than a month before marrying, and I was still ripe off of the death of the stepdad that raised me. He has absolutely zero redeeming qualities, too. He's homophobic, racist, sexist, cruel, loud, brash, moronic, and bossy. Everybody in the family besides my mom cannot stand him. Still, he CONSTANTLY orders me around. I don't understand why he thinks it's acceptable to tell me what to do when I am more intelligent than him. Not to mention, he essentially walked into our home announcing that he and my mom were getting married, completely destroyed our family dynamic, and made my mom cold and mean too. He's the worst person I've ever met, and I've wished horrible things upon him for how warped and disgusting his mind and heart are. It's astonishing what my mom, an intelligent and kind young woman, saw in this garbage heap of a human. This wasn't written in a time of anger, either. I haven't spoken to him in hours and am entirely calm, trying to analyze this logically. There isn't an excuse for his behavior, he's an idiot, and he's a bad person. So why does my mom think he deserves ANY respect, or the right to tell children how to behave? Please help, R. |

Question: What does this mean and what should I do? Posted: 10 Dec 2018 09:58 AM PST my dad and I one summer were by ourselves and I ask him why he is drinking and driving he said you better not tell nobody I am and you have no evidence that I am and three years ago our cat would get on the table and I get told not to touch her while I was eating so I tried to respect that and he said the next time she gets on the table am hitting you instead of the cat. If he went to jail when he got out my A** is grass and he threaten me that if I forget to feed my guinea pig oranges again he is putting him outside for the cats to play with if he did that my guinea pig would be dead. One time he yelled and cussed me out he said its not all about you I started to cry he said oh now your going to F cry and it Madde it worse he said you need to F grow up than he storms out and slams the door, my mom did nothing to stop him at all. He has an open alcohol container open while driving and he drinks it every 1-3 mins and both parents are on the phone while driving. I walked by and put my cup down Real quick to where the edge of it barely hits the table and my dad gets mad and gets it and says if you don't have nothing to do I give u something to F*** to do. |

Question: Is something wrong with me? Posted: 10 Dec 2018 08:47 AM PST I have lost interest in everything except 2 non-deparmental courses i need to pass to get my degree. I hate those 2 courses. Right now i can not think of anything but working and passing those courses. I don't care about anything else, i don't give a damn about my friends or family. I've stopped taking care of myself. The only thing i do is study and the only thing i care about is passing those 2 courses. Is something wrong with me? |
Question: Should I tell my mother about this? Posted: 10 Dec 2018 08:06 AM PST I got a part time job as an intern at a computer software company. I am very lucky that I am getting paid as most of my friends that got intern jobs are not getting paid. My boss is a 27 year old single guy that is the greatest looking guy I have ever seen. His is also the greatest boss ever. He spends a lot of time training me. I brought a picture to work and put it on my desk. My boss ask me who it was. I told him it was my mother. He said "I see where you get your good looks". "Your mother is gorgeous". " She does not look old enough to have a daughter your age". Should I tell my mother what my boss said. Moms, would you be interested in what a great looking guy that was 10 years younger said about you? Also, was my boss hitting on me (oh how I wish)? |
Question: What if I don't feel like an uncle? Posted: 10 Dec 2018 06:08 AM PST My stepdad has 26 yo son who had a kid in Feb 2016. My stepbrother's (Jake) has been in the AF since before my mom met his dad. My real dad died when I was 11. Then mom got married again 6 years ago about a year later. I also have a full brother. He doesn't have kids yet. But my brother feels like a brother. We go at it lots but there's a real bond there. With Jake it's just like he's mom's husband's kid, and James is like Mom's husband's kid's kid. I've only seen this kid 3 times. When he was first born, last Thanksgiving and again this week. Jake calls me Uncle Cody to James. At first I felt like it was wrong. I'm not this kids uncle. We're not even related. But I thought about it and technically it's right. So I got Jake and James a present for Christmas. James is easy. Just get him an Axe gift set it anything University of Kentucky and he's good. I don't know what his kid likes so I got him a stuffed dog. We're doing Xmas with Jake and James on Friday since he won't be able to get back for Xmas. Jake has been cool, since Mom married his dad. He sent me a $50 MasterCard gift card in June when I graduated hs and he used to take me places with his sister from his mom's remarriage. The thing is I have an uncle and he's awesome but it won't be even close to what it is with this kid and I feel bad about that |
Question: Is my mom being a hater ? Posted: 10 Dec 2018 04:58 AM PST So my mom called me the other day and basically lectured me about the way I live so I live with my aunt and have a bed in my dads house both offer me rent free I work full time and save my money to create future stability, money aside for my 2 kids, and to go back to school and pay for my school because I refuse to be in debt. My mom lectured me because I live rent free and I don't pay any house hold fees and I use up energy/ water in the house and that it's time that I move out and get my own place and that I should be going to college even if it requires me to get a loan and be in debt. Let me make this clear I don't even live with my mom my mom and dad are not together and my aunt has her own house. My mom even called my aunt to tell her how wrong it was to help me and that I shouldn't be living in her house rent free but my aunt shut her down and told her she will help me and my dad says I can live rent free at his house with no problems. I am 25 years old and I have lived on my own since I was 18 -23 but I stumbled in so many obstacles and I decided to take the opportunity to create a better path for myself So I need advice here from moms who are older and have kids who are adults because I feel like my mom is a hater |
Question: Is candy a good christmas gift? Posted: 10 Dec 2018 02:11 AM PST Thinkingn about getting jumbo bags for some people and its going to be heir favourites. Good or bad idea? |
Question: Is there a way to convince my to allow me to start driving? Posted: 09 Dec 2018 10:51 PM PST I wanna start driving because it hard depending on my family members to drop me off at work and then getting a ride back from work and being late to school everyday because nobody likes to wake up in the morning to take me to school and i need to get to work on time and school. I don't plan on going anywhere else and every time I ask my mom if I can go get my permit or driver license she either ignores me or says no and I'm getting frustrated because she's not putting herself in my shoes I'm 17 btw and I'm old enough to get my license since I work I'll pay for my driving school and pay off for the car if she buys me one it would be better for me to get my license too so I can pick my siblings up form school because they don't have a school bus either and instead of my mom leaving work to go get them it would benefit a lot but my mom doesn't care. |
Question: I think my mom has a problem.? Posted: 09 Dec 2018 10:24 PM PST She never completes a task. She has lupus and is tired a lot but whenever she has the energy to do anything she only makes messes she can't get out of. For example, the kitchen is a mess because of her last cooking project and she had a little energy the other day but instead of cleaning that she took everything out of the storage and started organizing. Obviously, she didn't finish and left the living room a mess and went back to starting a new project in the kitchen. When she'd done, she leaves the mess and starts somewhere else. For I while I would always run after her, cleaning the messes. But I'm sick of it. So I stopped and now the house is SO MESSY and full of unfinished projects. Whenever I try talking to her about it she gets made and accuses me of being insensitive. Am I? I know she's sick but instead of putting her energy in a new project can she at least finish the last one first. |
Posted: 09 Dec 2018 09:50 PM PST My mother and I have been butting heads since I moved back in; so for over a year now. I used to live with my grandma, but my aunt had to go back because of relationship issues; so I went back to mom and dads. Anyways, I've been dating a guy for a little over five months now, but we've known one another for over a year. He really wants me to move in, and I would; but I'm afraid I'm going to lose my mom because I had an injury, and she was there every step of the way. Any recommendations? |

Posted: 09 Dec 2018 07:39 PM PST My 16 year old daughter who is in children's division custody have developed a friendly relationship with this 2 adults. My daughter was placed in missouri baptist children's home a residential youth care facility. When my daughter returned to foster care to have reunification with me the parent, this 2 adults continued to have daily communications with my daughter, thru text messages, facebook, messenger, telephone, and in person. Whenever this people visit my daughter, they drive 4 hours to visit with her, and take her to places by themselves. My daughter tells me that this people love her and care about her the same way I do. I have talked with children's division about it, and I also talked to our family therapist, and none of them have recommended nor done anything about it. My daughter is obviously in favor of this relationship. My daughter have approximately 7 mental illnesses along with behavioural problems. That's why she ended up in residential and foster care. What should I do/what's your opinion? |

Question: Is it wrong to wish my dad was dead sometimes? Posted: 09 Dec 2018 04:55 PM PST My dad genuinely scares me. I feel like he scares my mom too, but she won't admit it. I'm almost 19, and I'm desperately looking for a job just to get the money rolling and potentially have a chance at getting a place with my sister. I feel awful for feeling what I feel, but sometimes I just can't help it. I feel like if he were to die, there'd be a weight off my family's shoulders. I get so afraid when he comes home because I never know what mood he's in, or what is bothering him that day. He likes to throw things when he's angry too. Breaks a lot of stuff. If he were to die, I would cry, don't get me wrong. I do love him. But he isn't a good person. He's a narcissist, emotionally abusive, and manipulative. |

Question: Is there a way to gain my sense of smell back? Posted: 09 Dec 2018 04:45 PM PST When I was 13 my parents took me to mexico and my whole family got torn up over there so after a year I would find myself in a gang and using abusing drugs especially inhalants. I know that's the cause of me losing my sense since that's what I mostly consumed now I live in NY and turned my life around but I can barely pick up smells. Is there any way to get it back or at least some |
Question: Should I tell my parents that my older sister invites this guy to our house everyday? Posted: 09 Dec 2018 03:49 PM PST I am a thirteen year old girl and my older sister has a habit of inviting this guy to our house who is nineteen and my parents do not know because they are at work. My sister invites this guy to our home when she comes home from school. Then they go to my room and they always make a mess when they're done doing what they are doing and I really dislike that they make a mess in my room. And I do not know what they are doing and I am not interested. And I'm thinking of telling my parents because it's getting very annoying because they always make a mess in my room and I have to clean it up. That is basically the only reason why I'm telling my parents. And my sister told me to keep this as a secret because she thinks my parents will get mad at her for inviting a guy to our home. So, should I tell my parents or not? And I really want to tell my parents but I am afraid because of my sister. I am afraid of what she will do to me if I tell my parents. So what should I do? Should I tell my parents? Update: My sister is seventeen years-old if you people are wondering. @ Zoey My sister is seventeen years-old. So yes, this might be illegal. |
Question: How does a sister move on from her own brother? Posted: 09 Dec 2018 03:46 PM PST so me and my sister grew up being the best of friends. we were really each other's only friend. We grew up the oldest of 11 kids, so we basically helped raise them. We did everything together. Id say within the past 2 months she stopped taking my calls or texts. I confronted her and asked if I did anything wrong and she goes "No. i just moved on." How do you "move on" from your own brother?? I thought I could at least talk to her once a week..We would talk once or twice a day, everyday.. but doesn't seem to want to anymore. I'm 19 and she's 17. How do I deal with this?? Do I "Move on"?? |
Question: How do I convince my dad not to come with to a convention? Posted: 09 Dec 2018 03:23 PM PST Okay so next weekend i'm going to be going to a convention with my friends. My dad wants to come with so he can watch over us and give us a ride. The thing is I don't want him to be there I want to spend time with my friends without having to constantly be looked over by my dad. We are also old enough and i've been to plenty of places with my friends without adult supervision. I don't know what's a logical reason i can come up with for my dad not to come? |

Question: What can I do if my family is bringing down my grades? Posted: 09 Dec 2018 02:40 PM PST So I went from A's to C's as soon as my sister moved in with me. She won't do housework, won't pay utilities and constantly needs homework help. It is her freshman year of college and she is draining me. I've tried going on strike with the house work but all that got me after two weeks was a ton of flies and everything smelling gross from all the dirty dishes and trash everywhere. I've told our parents that I can't do all this for her but they keep siding with her saying she is not used to working, cleaning, or doing homework with minimal help. They don't care that my grades have plummeted even though it is my senior year and I am trying to get into grad school. They say I should be able to care for her and myself. I have a year lease my landlord won't let me break and the utilities are all in my name so I can't move or not pay her half of utilities (which is about $150/month). I don't know what to do! Dx |
