Question: My best friends wedding.will she regret this? Posted: 29 Jun 2017 02:39 PM PDT So my bff met this guy a couple months ago and I'm happy for het.they were planning to marry nxt year which I was alright with cos they'll have more time to get to know each other. And if have enough saved money to go She asks me to be maid of honor I gladly except. A week later she says they're getting married in a few months and I tell her they should wait a while since they just met.she got upset with me and said I was like everyone else telling her to wait.she is like 19 years old.before she got andy at me I told her I can't afford to go this year but my husband and I talked about it and decided to support her and try to go no matter how hard it's be.i told her and I said I want to be her maid of honor still. A few days later whe send me pictures of her in a bridal gown with some fri3nda of hers in their dresses and says those r my bridesmaids and that's my maid of honor.i was and am very hurt.the girls in her wedding are younger than her and have barely known her as long as I have.she says I'm not her MOB cos she thinks I won't make it but she never gave me the chance to save up.do u think she'll regret getting married so early?do u think she kicked me out on purpose?will she regret kicking me out the wedding? P.s.she was my maid of honor. |
Posted: 28 Jun 2017 09:20 AM PDT I m getting married and I asked my 3 absolute favorite people to be in my bridal party. One of them is my male best friend. He said yes (I have been referring to him as a bridesman). My fiance doesn t think any of his groomsmen will want to walk with another guy, which breaks my heart. It isn t like I m going to have them lock arms or anything, just planned on them walking side by side. My fiance suggested I find another female bridesmaid and have my guy friend walk alone but I don t want him to be offended. He won t verbally say he is upset or bothered but I know how sensitive he is. Has anyone had a "bridesman" in their bridal party? How did you have them walk? NOTE: I am aware that this is MY wedding, not theirs, but they are my loved ones and their feelings do matter to me, so no rude comments please. |
Question: Should I attend my mothers wedding? Posted: 28 Jun 2017 08:27 AM PDT My mother is getting married next year of august, she just got engaged last month plans on having a expensive wedding to her young boyfriend who's 26 mind you she's in her late 40s. I feel uncomfortable attending due to the fact she didnt show up and embarrassed me at my wedding last year. I didn't have a huge wedding it was at court and a dinner. She just showed up to take pics to post on Facebook and left since she had a flight planned that day to visit her boyfriend. We told her ahead of 6 months about the date. My husbands family ended up helping with a few things for our wedding and showed while my mother spent her money the same day to go on vaction with her boyfriend. She also wants to have a baby when she rarely spends time with her grandchild my toddler and another one on the way. My family don't agree with her engagement due to that her fiancé is young, unemployed due to his Lyme disease, and she wants to finish her degree soon. And thinks she should finish her degree first and enjoy the grandkids. she makes good money but he does love her..I want to be happy for her and accept her engagement however I feel some resentment since she pulled that stunt. How do I get over this should I attend or not? |

Question: How do I stop my future mother in law from taking over my wedding? Posted: 27 Jun 2017 03:56 PM PDT My mother in law is getting out of hand. First off she has invited 50 people (only including her friends) That's more than my fiancée and I. We didn't even invite that many people to save money. She offered to pay for them but she hasn't. Now she wanted to pay for the rehearsal dinner which we didn't even want. She made invites and booked a venue without telling us. Then she sent us a guest list. She didn't even let my family or friends invite a plus one but shes letting the grooms brother have his girlfriend of 3 months come even though I've only met her once. I asked to invite more people because it hurt the feelings of my close family members and my very best friends but she keep saying no because there'syet she can invite the girl that's been dating her other son for only three months. She's being unfair and irrational. I'm scared she's going to ruin my big day what can I do? |

Question: Is a pale blue dress acceptable to wear to my cousins wedding? Posted: 26 Jun 2017 07:38 PM PDT my cousins wedding is in september. i was reading an article on what colors to avoid and they said pastels, and red are big no nos. since pale blue is a pastel color i am guessing its off limits. however i did wear a light purple dress at my other cousins wedding and it was fine. i dont understand why light greens, little blues, and light pinks are such no nos. so is it true that pale blue is bad to wear to a wedding or is it a "safe" color to wear |
Question: Places to try on wedding dresses but not with a consultant? Posted: 26 Jun 2017 07:16 PM PDT so i want to see how i look in wedding dresses but don't want to waste a consultant's time as i don't plan on buying one... i know that i'll get a ton of answers saying that wedding dresses are hard to get on and you'll need an expert with you but... i'm not trying to cheat a consultant out of thousands of dollars. are there any places like that in south jersey/philly or just thrift stores? |

Question: 2 guys I want in my wedding. Help? Posted: 26 Jun 2017 12:31 PM PDT Okay, I have 2 really close guy friends. My fiancé doesn't know them personally so they can't be a groom nor can they be a brides maid because they are both male (plus I don't think they would like to be a brides maid, lol). I really want them in my wedding because they are such close friends of mine when I was younger. What position or part can they do in my wedding? I want to included them just because I want all of my friends in my wedding. |

Posted: 25 Jun 2017 07:22 PM PDT At our wedding I had food poisoning and half our guests didn t show so it wasn t the greatest day. Anyway we didn t do the dollar dance at the wedding so I thought maybe it would be ok at the 1st anniversary party we are throwing to make up for the me being sick and half the guests didn t show. But I was needing some advice cause if it s weird or whatever then I don t want to do it. Let me know your opinion but please don t be mean. Thank you. |
Question: I was invited to my sister's wedding? Posted: 25 Jun 2017 03:45 PM PDT I hate weddings and any kind of social gatherings. I'd rather stay home. Can I just send a gift? |
Question: Paying to eat at someones wedding wrong or not? Posted: 25 Jun 2017 12:49 PM PDT A friend of mine is having a small wedding of 80 guest. The couple is expecting all of the bridesmaids and groomsman to pay for our meals at this restaurant that the reception will be at. It's eight of us and the place is really pricey about 80 bucks for a meal that doesn't include drinks or desserts. We are also responsible to pay for our tuxs and that's about 120$ so as you can see it's getting pretty pricey. I and the other groomsmen were gonna throw the bachelor party but we can't afford to do it because we also have to pay to eat at the wedding. I'm not quite sure if this is normal I've never been to a wedding before and I'm only 19 so I'm not really educated when it comes to weddings. I was wondering if anyone can tell me if this is right? And if not would it be rude of me to tell them i can't be in the wedding? It is short notice as the wedding is in two weeks but after months of rehearsing they barely told us today that we had to pay our way and the rest of the 72 guest will be payed for by them which is not fair to me. |
Question: Choosing a Best Man for the Wedding When Someone Has Already Offered? Posted: 25 Jun 2017 11:48 AM PDT I'm 27 years old and just got engaged. I was baptized when I was 5 years old and had a godfather who at the time was around 30 years old. Now he is around 50 years old. Ever since I was around 18 and single, he kept mentioning to my dad that he will be an amazing best man at my wedding and that he can't wait to be the best man. Also he is married my first cousin who is around 20 years older than me who I am very close with. But I want my best friend to be my best man. My godfather and I don't even talk often, I don't even know what to talk about with him. My parents keep telling me it is rude if I don't choose my godfather and that I should just go with it and that it is only one day. I just want someone closer in my age who I am close with it. But my parents are telling me that it will cause fights among the family if I don't go with my godfather as the best man. Do you think they will understand and still come to the wedding and have a good time if I don't choose him as the best man? Or how should I break the news to him? |

Question: PLEASE HELP ME WITH MY WEDDING NIGHTMARE!? Posted: 24 Jun 2017 06:58 PM PDT I've cancelled my wedding 2 times due to health and unforeseen circumstances. I had the latest date in December but just found out I'm pregnant.(but have miscarried before so idk) I was thinking about eloping and then having my wedding in the fall of next year but I'm nervous about what my guests will think of me. Can someone help me with advice! |
Question: What should I wear for a 1920's themed wedding? Posted: 24 Jun 2017 06:31 PM PDT I'm going to a wedding next month (outdoor ceremony, indoor reception), with a 1920's theme. I've looked into buying a zoot suit costume, but not sure I want to spend the money on something I'll only wear once (I'm not really into Halloween, so I don't know that I'll get re-use as a costume). So, I'm thinking of assembling something out of what I have in my closet and what I can find at costume and resale shops. I'm in Milwaukee, and can make a trip to Chicago if need be (and I wouldn't mind having an excuse to go). Any thoughts on what I should wear, what are some must-have pieces, and what isn't necessary? Any help is appreciated! |
Question: Cheap wedding venues in Columbus, OH area.? Posted: 24 Jun 2017 10:58 AM PDT My fiancé and I are wanting to spend under $5,000 for our entire wedding, including venue, food, decorations, everything. Does anyone know any good venues in or around Columbus for super cheap? We are expecting no more than 200 guests. |
Posted: 24 Jun 2017 10:06 AM PDT I was asked to be a bridesmaid in my friend's wedding a few months ago and now she just told me I'm only going to be a bridesmaid at the reception as she decided she only wants family in the ceremony. I also won't be wearing what the other bridesmaids are wearing. Her other bridesmaids have not included me in anything, including the bachelorette party which they are expecting me to pay 150 to attend over a 3 day period. I can't afford that and I can't afford to take that much time off, but the decision has been made for me. I don't think I want to be her bridesmaid anymore if I have to pay so much, am not included in the planning, and not really even a bridesmaid. Am I being unreasonable? |

Question: Would it be weird to give Ebay giftcards as a wedding gift? Posted: 24 Jun 2017 09:35 AM PDT |
Posted: 24 Jun 2017 06:38 AM PDT Ok here's the problem. Once you run out of pre-wedding fundraisers: 4 wedding showers from the bride side and 4 showers from the groom side. We had in big letters "PLEASE SEND CASH"The first shower the people sent normal stuff and a little cash ...like $50 from one person was a milestone. But by the 4th or 5th bridal shower, people didn't even attend and the few that did just sent cheap wine bottles like how is this gonna Fund the dream wedding Then came the Stag and doe raffle you charge everyone $60 at the door and then on top that you buy raffle tickets and can potentially win a piece of equipment for your auto or bike That raised a tiny bit of money but people just don't wanna give So as a last resort, would this be a tacky idea? Send out a mass email at work to all the higher ups about our wedding and threaten each of them if they don't give $100, you will tell HR that they violated company policies eventhough they didn't, to scare them into fearing if they don't give money, they could get laid off. Is this a good fundraising idea or is it tacky? |

Question: Fiance is currently the only provider and I feel weird about it? Posted: 23 Jun 2017 11:02 AM PDT I'm currently looking for a new job after enduring a horrific enviroment for way to long. Long story short. My fiance always told me I never had to work if I didn't want to but it's fine if i do. (He makes more than enough for the both of us.) However, I feel EXTREMELY uncomfortable lately because he calls his money "our money" and what not. I know i'm probably being dramatic but it makes me feel helpless and less than a person. How can I explain this to him without him taking it badly? thanks.. |
Question: Is this an appropriate dress to wear at a wedding for a guest? Posted: 23 Jun 2017 10:53 AM PDT I know there are a lot of rules when it comes to what is appropriate vs. what isn't when you are attending a wedding as a guest. Especially when it comes to wearing white. I want all of your opinions, is this a appropriate dress? Do you think that the floral print takes up enough of the dress so it doesn't seem like I'm trying to steal the spotlight? What do you all think? |
Question: Should I propose to my boyfriend or wait for him to do it? Posted: 23 Jun 2017 10:10 AM PDT My boyfriend and I have been together for about three years. We love each other, we live together, and we have an infant son. I would like to get married, but he feels too much pressure from our families to propose to me any time soon. I really want to get engaged, but I would have to be the one to ask if I want it to be soon. I know there's a lot to consider. I'd be breaking societal expectations for traditional gender roles, and that could lead to judgment from some. I know I wouldn't get a ring then either, so I'd have nothing to show when people ask to see my ring. Also, I'd be robbed of my special moment. I've never been asked anything important in my entire life. I wasn't asked to prom or anything like that. I always looked forward to having a man ask me to marry him, but I'm also comfortable not having a ring and I'm all for breaking tradition. Knowing all of that, do you think I should propose to him, or should I just keep waiting for a few years? |
Question: Plus 1 Invite Etiquette for Weddings? Posted: 23 Jun 2017 09:46 AM PDT I am an usher at a wedding, but my invite doesn t explicitly give me a plus one. The bride and groom both know my girlfriend, and that we have been dating for more than a year. How should I proceed without making the situation any worse? |
Question: A friend plans to officiate at a wedding. Will it be legal? Posted: 23 Jun 2017 08:10 AM PDT A friend has been "ordained" over the Web, has started wearing clergy garb, etc. He has told me he will be officiating at a wedding. Here in California anyone can go to the county recorder's office and get a short-term permit to perform a wedding, but he has not done that. I m concerned for the couple - he will sign the marriage license, and I am told that there is no place on a license to indicate affiliation with a religious denomination, so there is no reason for the recorder to question whether the marriage should be recorded - no "red flag". Will this marriage be legal? |

Question: Am I being a mean fiancé? Posted: 22 Jun 2017 09:05 AM PDT My fiancé and I have a daughter and are expecting. He wanted me to get two jobs so I did. I was working 11 hours a day ( I'm a cook) and on my days off I would get called into work. He got upset that he wasn't seeing me as much and wanted me to quit...so I quit one job and was stilll working 11 plus hours( he didn't understand how high the demand is ) when I'd go to work I would throw up non stop and felt like I was gonna faint. My doctor was upset with my fiancé and I that I was working so many hours so he gave me a note to leave. Now, I'm out with a job but thinking about going to school and becomeig a sonogram tech. My fiancé was all supportive but then against it m. I told him I'd be home with the kids while he works. He wasn't too happy. And now he wants his brother to live with us. I told him there will be no video games until He gets a job because all he does is play video games. He doesn't bathed, doesn't clean up after himself, and doesn't wanna work. When I said this my fiancé got upset and said I was mean but I don't see how I'm mean. If he wants to live with us he has to help he's 26 and capable of being responsible |
Question: My selfish sister didn't contribute to my wedding? Posted: 22 Jun 2017 03:44 AM PDT I'm getting married soon and need financial help with engagement party. Question: Thiland wedding How can I make this happe6? Posted: 21 Jun 2017 11:42 PM PDT So I'm planning a destination wedding nothing over the top just me and my boyfriend. I've been reading articles and I see that there is a lot of paper work involved. My questions are ... how long will it take to get all the paperwork i need to make it legit in the USA, California to be exact ... has anyone been married out there ?whats the price point for a beach wedding in thiland? For just 2 people... or is there any way I can just get married in California and just have a someone to take pictures of us I'm my dress on the beach and just maki it look like we got married out there? |
Question: Can the average person spot a cheap engagement ring from an expensive one? Posted: 21 Jun 2017 08:02 PM PDT I think most people cannot tell the difference. So it doesnt really seem worth it to buy an expensive one ($3000+), just seems like a waste of money to me. I think $1000 should be enough... thoughts? |
Question: When do I tell my fiancé that I m not going to marry him? Posted: 21 Jun 2017 06:10 PM PDT We ve dated for a while and he proposed to me. I said yes but I m only 17 and don t really want to commit to him. I like him but it s too soon. So I need to know when to say something to him. Honestly part of me wants to just wait until after the wedding and get divorced. Im excited about the showers and the wedding but I don t want it to be forever. Money is not really a problem because my parents already said that they would pay for everything. So does that sound like a good idea? I don t want my boyfriend to be mad at me. Thanx! |
Question: Are you obligated to invite your family to your wedding? Posted: 21 Jun 2017 05:50 PM PDT I'm getting married in a few months time, and we're about to make wedding invites. To abridge the story a little bit, I had an epiphany that I've never really been that close to my family growing up. Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Parents, grandparents. I'm only in contact with my siblings. It's not like we're dysfunctional, estranged, or have any waspish dilemma (grandparents aside), I've just always been rather reticent and private about my life, and I feel like inviting them to my wedding would be awkward and somewhat cumbersome. My aunts and uncles were just rude in general. My uncles especially exhibited very childlike behavior, and would poke and make fun of me during my youth. My aunts, just petty and gossiped about immediate family members. My cousins, I just stopped speaking to at age 18 when I left home. As for my parents, meh. They were irritatingly inquisitive, and would never leave me alone, also extremely curt and temperamental, but good parents... I guess? I'm barely close to my brothers and sisters because we're all in propinquity of another. I LOATHE my grandparents; EXTREMELY rude and disapproving of me because I'm gay (also a huge part on why I'm not close to so many relatives.) My boyfriend (soon husband) makes fun of me about the whole situation and that "my side" would be empty. He said I was being doltish. I really want to be mature about this, but I don't know what to do, the list is already large enough with college and work friends... Thoughts? Update. My intentions are not to be childish and petty, I just don't want things to be awkward and ruining for my wedding day, since it's something I've been looking forward to for all my life. Thanks for all the really good advice, I appreciate it! Yes, another thing I want is to avoid any unwarranted family drama. |

Question: Im a bridesmaid, can I skip the rehearsal dinner? Posted: 21 Jun 2017 01:09 PM PDT I am a bridesmaid in my cousins wedding. Her wedding is on a Friday and rehearsal is on Thursday in another state about 1.5 hours away from where I live. I have already taken off two days of work for her bachelorette party that she demanded be in Nashville and spent close to $1,000 on it. I have to take another day off for the Friday of her wedding so I wouldn't take a day off for rehearsal. I also have school on Thursdays night so would have to miss school to go and my boyfriend would go with me and have to drive an hour and a half back to where we live in the morning to go to work then back again to wedding after taking a half day. I have been in three weddings already so have the hang of what to do |
Question: Is screening a movie tacky wedding party? Posted: 21 Jun 2017 11:46 AM PDT I am marrying the love of my life in a few months and we both love movies. We had our first kiss watching Home alone together and I thought it would be fun to stream the movie on a big projector screen on the night of our wedding with out friends. We will be having a very small wedding with approximately 30-35 people. Do you think it's a good idea? And please don't say "it's your wedding you can do whatever you want" I know that, but I want to know from your prospective, would you enjoy being part of a wedding that did something like that. |
Question: Who to invite to a baby shower? Posted: 21 Jun 2017 10:26 AM PDT My mil is planning one for me and asked me about invites. She is inviting her friends that I don't know but I guess it's not a big deal. I'm wondering if I should invite my husbands stepbrothers wife? They invited us to their wedding but I only met her once before and the second time was at the wedding. We don't stay in contact at all. What is the etiquette for this? |

Posted: 20 Jun 2017 05:47 AM PDT I don't want to come across as "hey where is my wedding invite" in case I am not invited. However, my sister and brother got theirs so I assume I am invited. It was a "Save the Date" not the formal invite yet. I am worried they will think I am not interested in coming if I am invited but if I say "I didn't get mine" they will think I am looking to invite myself. His parents are not the closest to my parents so it is possible I wasn't asked since I am a lot older them my younger two sibs who were invited (I am from my Mom's 1st marriage). So how do I politely go about this so not to impose? I think I am invited but maybe 20 percent chance I am not. |
Question: How to explain to guest why my parents aren't coming to the wedding? Posted: 20 Jun 2017 05:13 AM PDT she has a grudge with almost everyone at the wedding. .she thinks parties are boring. she hates that I am having booze and meat there (she is a vegan)and that my dress looks slutty and the island cupcakes look stupid.(it's awesome).my dad also is not allowed to come because she says so.(he sent me a huge check for a nice honeymoon as a sorry, but I would rather have him at my wedding) I think she is being unfair and I am not changing anything because I am paying for it. I just don't know how to explain why my mom isn't there.I am afraid that is all anyone is going to want to talk about. She is telling everyone I don't want her there. She is mad I am having my best friend's mom who is a professional party planner and mother in law take over mother of the bride duties.I tried to reach out to her but I just ranted at. I had to block her on fb and get a new number she doesn't know, so I don't have to look at her texts.I am not talking to her at this point because all the drama makes me sick. I am getting married in like a week and don't need the stress. It is going to be really low key and hawaian themed. . my mom is one of those Christians that anyone who drinks is an alcoholic. My friends mom apparently stole her bf in middle and they are still together and she still holds a grudge. I am not a alcoholic. But I am having a few at my wedding. |

Question: Should I have confronted these awful dinner guests? Posted: 19 Jun 2017 05:14 PM PDT I hosted a bridal shower at my apartment. I made a dinner that included the salad and steamed carrots with a special butter sauce. One guest turned to me and asked if the steamed carrots were just leftover carrots from the salad. Of note, we are hardly acquaintances. Her boyfriend joined the dinner later and went off for 5 minutes+ about how he hated the LA Croix seltzer I was serving. Should I have called them out? |
Question: Is 4 months notice for cross country wedding guests too short? Posted: 19 Jun 2017 05:12 PM PDT My finacé's family is in UT and we're in MI. We recently let them know we're planning on getting married on 10/14/17 but now my fiancé thinks we're not allowing them enough time to make travel arrangements. I think that 4 months is plenty of time. What do you think? Is it enough time? |
Question: How was your elopement/private wedding experience? Do you regret it? Posted: 19 Jun 2017 08:05 AM PDT I'm considering having a private wedding (I mean just myself, my partner, and an officiate) for a multitude of reasons. I don't really have anyone on my end that I'd be disappointing, but I know my mother-in-law would be absolutely furious. I'm just curious to hear how other people's experiences have gone, why they chose to have a private wedding, etc. Thanks for the help! Reasons why I'd like a private wedding: - I believe marriage is more about the connection of two people than it is about the combining of families. - The thought of paying thousands of dollars to accommodate the wants of other people for one night doesn't really do much for me. - I'm incredibly shy, and a big party where I'm the center of attention actually sounds like hell to me. Can anyone relate?? |
