i dont think in my life i ever had a real friend, there is a couple people i know that we talk very rarely. mostly classmates amd we just say hi and how are lifes are going and then bye. but i never had a friend i could just chill with, or go to the movies, i dont even have a single phone number except my families. why is it so hard for me to make a real friend?

I got a problem with meeting new people like I don t know what to say to them, i have friends but most of them are the ones i ve known since elementary and they dont seem to have problems meeting new people, im always quiet unless talked to how can i overcome this ? My friend was discluding me when I had invited her to something. I was her ride home and was losing my patience so I ran off to the washroom and tried to calm myself down. However she immediately jumped to conclusions that I was no longer giving her a ride home. She said nasty things about me to her mother and her mother told her not to hang out with me. Switch schools due to intense bullying by some and a big rumor spread about me. Parents are now paying for me to go to school and I'm still bullied. I'm socially awkward and I say the wrong things. At the school I'll be talking at the table and will get dirty looks from these kids at lunch, so I don't talk there anymore. I am 18 years old and in college and I live in New Jersey. I have two cousins (they're siblings) that live in the San Francisco Bay area of California. One is a 19 year old girl and the other is a 17 year old boy. California has lots of skate parks and people could easily go to one and make lots of friends. But here in New Jersey, there are not many skate parks and it's hard to meet people outside of school over here, because the east coast is completely different culture although both coasts are part of the US. During junior and senior year of high school, I literally only had one friend. My popular cousin always felt extremely sad for me to the point where he would want to cry. I am 18 and I am a freshman commuter as an IT major. My college has a small population, so it can be easy to see the same person over. We have small classes, so that makes things easier. I have a male friend who told me that he had an std last year, but he said he went to the doctor and got it taken care of. However, this other girl I use to work with said he told her he has herpes and people at my old job think me and him been messing around. I would never and I mean never mess with a guy like him because I see him as my brother but he got people thinking me and him got something going on, and that made me very upset. In 2015 I used to be really depressed. I thought that I was worthless, ugly and fat, that everyone hated me. But time passed by, I got a new therapist and meds, met some new friends and became happier. I got the haircut I always wanted and started to dress the way I like. I also slowly started to be comfortable in my body. I'm not quite there yet, but I could say that I love myself. I don't think that I'm better than anyone else or anything, I just like the way I am and the way I look. I know I'm not exactly a supermodel, but I'm not ugly either, and besides I don't really care what people think anymore. I just enjoy life. However I have some friends who have a really low self-confidence. Some of them are really attractive and nice and have everything well in their lives. And I mean, I know that doesn't mean that you have to love yourself, but sometimes I feel bad because they are the ones with a reason to be happy. I feel bad for saying "I look cute", when someone much more attractive than me complains about how ugly they look. I feel bad while comforting my friend with depression and not being able to say "me too" anymore. I remember how jealous I was of my "succesful" friends back to when I was depressed. I mean, it's not exactly bullying, at least not straight-forward. She's just always being left out in group projects, if she does something wrong people laugh at her in a mean way, people exchange looks behind her back etc. Not immidiate bullying I guess, but still noticeable. I transferred from another school second semester and had no choice but to sit with this table I currently sit at during lunch. I'm an 8th grader from a big 8th through 12th grade school and the oldest grade is so mean to us. I know it's because we're 13 year olds who are in the same building as 18 year olds all day long and they think we're annoying. They don't separate our lockers,they're completely random so you can easily have a locker next to a senior. They tell us what to do like they're teachers (no running in the hallways, no blasting music, no fighting etc). My teachers say it's cause they've been here for 5 years and were a bunch of newcomers. Another thing is that they make fun of us and call us little grade 8s. And prom is such a big deal to them! Its 3 months away from prom and its already a big topic to discuss for them. Especially the cheerleaders,they're one of the only Canadian cheerleading teams in our city so they compete against the American high schools instead. We Canadian kids exchanged to a US high school for a week and the seniors over there are even worse! It seems like high school seniors are generally aggressive and act tough towards freshmen.

I ve been going to a bar for about 5 years now. I am an avid customer and spend a lot of money there. However frequently I see or experience negative things which occur at the bar. I am friends with the owner on Facebook. It bothers me that I can post 50 different status updates which are positive, though the one or two times in which I post something negative, she looks at it right away and gathers her own ideas and judgements. Why do people always have to see the bad and never look at the good ? Also whenever I make negative facebook updates , NEVER do I mention the name of her establishment. Instead of talking about bar "A" , I could very well be talking about bar "B, C or D" Though it bothers me that she always seems to have a guilty conscious and assumes every negative facebook post is in regards to her bar. I recently had an argument with her about this and advised her to remove me from her friends list, though she decided to keep me on as a friend. What I don t understand is if you are so offended by things that I post , why are you keeping me as a friend ? Should I take the initiative to unfriend her first ? Since she refuses to unfriend me ? I took a brief hiatus from hanging out at her bar for 5-6 weeks and when I returned just recently , things seem to have not changed.

I'm Canadian and I'm a 14 year old girl. I see so many movies about girls crying or acting super dramatic over prom and the fact that they're 18 or so. The legal age in my province is 19 so nobody can drink at prom. Anyways, I heard that prom is a major deal in the US but not as much in Canada. I go to a grades 8-12 school and I haven't seen a single person cry or make a fuss over prom before. The majority of the seniors just go and hang out with friends or don't go at all unless they're already dating someone. They worry about what to wear, but there's not overreacting and drama. Is it just movies or is it really that dramatic?

This is going to sound very juvenile, but I am still a kid. My best friend seems to always forget my birthday, but says that she will give me a birthday post or whatever. Is is impolite to follow up on that? We have only been friends for a few years, and really only became best friends this year. I have been posting for her birthdays, but she has yet to post for mine, and she does occasionally post for other people (but mostly old childhood friends of family) I honestly don't know why it bugs me, but it does. I feel horrible for saying this, but I hate my friend. Always have always will. Not really hate, but not necessarily like. She sticks up for me, but just...It's hard to explain. I tried to avoid her in 4th grade by ignoring her, but then her Mom emailed my Mom saying that my friend felt "excluded" so my Mom forced me to hang out with her! And now, I'm in 7th grade, but she is friends with my BFF, so I kind of have to hang out with her because she sits with us at lunch and stuff...Also, we ride the same bus and live really close so I see her every single morning...I just don't like her and it feels more like a chore to hang out with her...I feel bad for saying it but that's how I feel...How can I ignore her when I see her everyday and she is friends with the same people I am (though all my friends don't like her either...a lot of people don't like her...)

If I stop being friends with her I'll go back to having no friends and being the "loner" again. Also I don'teven know for sure if she's taking me for granted I may just be paranoid. We've been really close friends since 7th grade, but shes always been pretty unreliable and i can name a few things that she's done that really made my life hard. She's really close to me and sweet most of the time, but she just keeps never giving back to me. I've done so much for her because our friendship means a lot, but recently she's been kind of indirectly ignoring me (i know its probably because i'm clingy and she probably gets uncomfortable, but I've been trying to hive her space) and hanging out with people she knows i'm not too comfortable being around. a few days ago she missed a presentation i was doing in one of my clubs that was really important to me, and she said she forgot even tho i had reminded her countless times. only one of my friends showed up at the presentation out of the 10 people i asked, and I've kinda felt like crap since, and i'm really mad at her for all these things but i don't want to end our friendship. what do i do? (i know this is really long and i'm sorry)

We're both considered attractive but she chose to have an open relationship with her husband who is way older than her. She's been going out on dates and here I am sometimes getting jealous of feeling that new love from a new beau. I do love my husband though and I don't think anyone new will be good enough. Anyways, I do resent her at times and it makes me feel that she's toxic as she's naking me feel lije my marriage is not good enough with her talks of how happy she is with her new dates. Is this normal? I feel like friendship is going downhill. I tjink I'm jealous of her new found happiness... married or not.

There is a white teen male in my class and he keeps calling people the N word. I told him he shouldn't say that and he told me its okay because he has a pass. He claims since he has 2 african american friends (black) he is allowed to say that. This turned into a class debate when the teacher went to the bathroom. What do you think? Is there a pass for white people? btw I am a white female
